Great bat for the money Wallace parent

Pros: Bought this for my son, thinking it would only be a batting cage bat, but he really likes it, and it has really good pop to the bat. So far, no negatives, and for the money, if it goes dead fast, we can replace it cheaply.

Cons: None so far

Good Bat, Durability Below Average Wallace parent

Pros: Low price -- if it dies, you don't feel as bad about it; solid construction, good pop, fast shipping.

Cons: Durability questionable. Purchase a 30" drop 10 for my son in November 2016. Has has had 12 lessons -- 30-minutes each - since purchased (soft tossed from a coach, not a machine). The bat is completely dead. Went to baseball practice and his coach said it sounded like a wood bat.

Insane bat Alexander parent

Pros: My son loves everything about this bat. he has played in three games so far, he is hitting the ball at every at bat. He has the most RBI on the team (12). He has hit a grand slam, two homeruns, double, a couple of singles and his only out so far has been a grounder to first base. There are a couple of kids with bats that cost over 200 dollars and dont come close to my sons stats. I put a 4 on durability because it is still to early to make that determination. If something were to happen to the bat I would not hesitate to purchase the same bat. I paid 180 dollars for a lighter bat just in case my son faces a pitcher with high speed pitching, he just ignores that bat.

Cons: None. sit back and enjoy.

Great Buy Kevin coach

Pros: Nice big barrel, huge sweet spot. Bought my son the 31 & 32 inch bats in the bat pack because he wasn't sure what he wanted for this season. Now he has both. I hit infield/outfield with the 32 in practice and it feels great. He loves it!!

Parent Michelle Johnson parent

Pros: My son loves this bat. Got it for him for his birthday. Gave it to him in the cages while he was warming up for a game. Hit a double first time up to bat with it during the game. Huge sweet spot, minimal vibration, comfortable and light weight.

Cons: After a few months of hard use the end cap keeps popping off.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat: DXINZ? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this bat approved for the Little League 50-70 program? Don
The 2015 DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat (DXINZ) will not be approved for play in the Little League 50-70 program. This program requires a barrel diameter of 2 1/4" -2 5/8". The barrel diameter of the DXINZ is 2 3/4" and therefore illegal for usage.
Joe
How does this bat compare to Easton SL14S310 as far as pop and sweet spot? Carlos
The 2015 DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat (DXINZ) would compare more closely to the Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14S310B) because it is a 2 3/4 inch barrel diameter. They would be similar in terms of sweet spot size and the performance will be the same at their peak. Preference would basically come down to which brand you prefer.
Patrick
Is this bat BBCOR certified? Slamskie
No, the 2015 DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat (DXINZ) is not BBCOR certified.
Brandon
Is this bat end loaded or balanced? Mick
The 2015 DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat (DXINZ) will feature a very balanced swing weight.
Brandon
Is this bat good for a contact hitter? britlyn6
The 2015 DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat (DXINZ) will feature a one piece full alloy design with a balanced swing weight and a large sweet spot. Typically, we would recommend a one piece model for a power hitter as they are fairly stiff through the zone. A contact hitter with good bat speed could also use this model.
Joe
Does this bat come in a -5 ratio? Mags
No, the 2015 DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat (DXINZ) is not produced in a -5 drop.
John
What size would you recommend for a 12 year old, 5 foot 4 inches and about 120 pounds? Cmart03
Based on your son's height and weight I recommend getting the 2015 DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat (DXINZ) in a 31 inch.
Frankie
Would you guys recommend this bat for more of a lead off contact hitter as well? Should we look for something else? charger89
The DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat: DXINZ has a balanced swing weight and it is usually considered a very good option for a contact hitter.
Jason
How would you rate the feel and pop of this bat to the DeMarini CF7 bat (WTDDXCFX - 10)? My boy loves the CF7 but they are difficult to find since the bat has been discontinued. Baseball Dad
The DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat: DXINZ doesn't have quite the pop and is going to feel different than the CF7 since the Insane is a one-piece alloy design, and the CF7 was a two-piece composite design.
Logan
Does it come in a 33"/30oz? Rich
As this bat is listed under "Senior League" and not BBCOR, it will not come in a 33"/30oz. Senior League bats are intended for youth players below the high school level. The 2017 Voodoo Insane BBCOR (DXVIC) is a BBCOR bat available in a 33"/30oz model, but has and end loaded swing weight compared to the balanced swing weight of this Senior League model.
Kyle J.
Is this bat good for more of a power hitter than a contact hitter? Nate
The DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat: DXINZ is a one-piece alloy bat with a balanced swing weight featuring a 2 3/4" barrel diameter and -10 length to weight ratio. This bat is a good option for both a contact and power hitter between the ages of 8-11.
Cameron
Is this a composite bat? john
No, the DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat: DXINZ is an aluminum bat.
Tori
How would this bat compare to a Rawlings VELO (-12) in terms of pop? hittin bombs
In regard to performance ratings from customers (quality of reviews and number of reviews) at this current time, I would probably give the nod to this DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat (DXINZ) over the VELO (-12).
Ben
What size is the barrel? chevy
The DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat: DXINZ features a 2 3/4" barrel diameter.
Logan
I need a baseball bat for a 14 year old. He is 5'6" & 160 pounds. julz
In the DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat: DXINZ I would suggest a 31'' 20 oz bat.
Max
I'm looking for a bat for my son that is 9 years old and weighs about 80 pounds. Melissa
At your player's age, you would want to look for a bat around the 29" size. One most similar to the DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat: DXINZ would be the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo One Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVOZ. This will be a one piece alloy bat, so no break in will be required.
Logan
My son is 8 yrs old and weighs 65 lbs. I would like to purchase a 2 5/8" bat for him. What is your preference? Kevin
The DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat: DXINZ features a 2 3/4" barrel diameter. If seeking a bat with a 2 5/8" barrel we would recommend looking into the 2016 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVDX.
Cameron
We received this bat about a month ago. The plastic end cap on the barrel end has cracked. Does this cracked end cap effect the performance of the bat? It seems like it does. Tom
Yes, the plastic end cap breaking could affect the performance of the bat. Since you have only had the bat for a month it would be under the 1 year manufacturer's warranty and DeMarini would go ahead and replace that bat for you.
Carter
Purchased this bat for my 12 year old who has been nailing the ball. Recently we noticed the bat doesn't sound the same. Looked and we have a cracked end cap. Does this affect performance and will they replace? Tracee
If the end cap on your DeMarini Insane Senior League Baseball Bat: DXINZ is cracked it will certainly change the sound of the bat. As for making the bat lose performance capabilities, it could hamper this. If you feel the bat is still performing at a high level then I would recommend continue using the bat. As for getting a new end cap, DeMarini does not fix bats sent in for warranty issues. They typically will either replace the bat entirely or issue a voucher that can be used directly on their website.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
