Pros: Bought new 2013 Vexxum 29/19 last night and today fresh out of the wrapper with only 5 or 6 BP swings... my 9yr son hit his first HOMERUN over left centerfield with his 10U travel team and hit another rocket shot off of the yellow line top of the fence centerfield..he almost had 2HRs in two games today. Great pop and solid line drive shots, over half of the whole team was using the bat today and the balls were flying all over the field. Thanks DeMarini as you say the Vexxum is the "Original Gangster" the OG of G.O.N.E. My son has been quoting that to his mom and teammates after the games today. His goal this year was to hit a HR and the Vexxum help him accomplish that.

Pros: My son had the Easton sv12, which he really liked. We went with the Vexxum, because the sv12 handle split on the side and there is no comparison. He hit with both this year and he is hitting it with much more pop with the vexxum. He with out a doubt likes the vexxum more.
Cons: Only used for a couple of tournaments and nothing bad to say yet.

Cons: Beware 18 oz really weighs 20 oz ...
Baseball Dad
Pros: The pop off this bat is amazing. Great bat for the money.
Cons: 18 oz bat actually weighs 20oz .... But the distribution of weights does compare to a true 18 oz bat in actual feel of the bat swing.
Mr.GetAHit
Pros: Awesome.
Cons: None.
Jeff
Pros: This bat is awesome, I use the 33 -5 for myself in adult league, my 10yr old uses the 30-20 he is on the bigger side, 100lbs and very strong. Crushing balls with it.
Cons: Bat is end weighted. My 12 year old doesn't like it, he uses the EXO grid because it's more balanced. This bat is for a strong swinger. My opinion.

My son is 11 1/2 and is 108 lbs. He is joining his first travel team. His current bat is an Easton Omen-12(30-18). He has what I call a slow swing. Coach recommends a big barrel-10 bat. Which bat would you recommend that won't feel like it's a few ounces heavier? He'd like a DeMarini bat and I am considering the 2013 Vexxum and 2013 cf5. Big barrel with-10 ratio. con
Is this bat approved for 13U Babe Ruth? con
My son is 13 yr old, 5'5" and 125 lbs. Last year he used a Vexxum 30/20, but would like to move up this year. Is a -5 too much of a jump, or should he stay with a -10 and just go with a longer 32/22 bat ? Matt
Dear BW: my son is 13 1/2 years old. He weighs approximately 150 lbs. and is about 55 1/2" tall. He is not overweight, he will be playing 13 u travel ball this season. He has average bat speed I read an earlier post you had for another customer stating that this bat may be too much of a drop, seeing that next year 2014 he will be going into high school (-3 drop). Would you recommend the Vexxum? If not, what would be a good choice? Once again, he would only be using this bat for the 2013 season. Thank you in advance! dan kaz
My son is moving up from a Combat B4 30/18 2 1/4" Barrel this year to a 2 5/8" Barrel bat. I have pretty much narrowed our search down to the 2013 Demarini Vexxum DXVXR 30/20 and the 2013 Easton S3 30/20. My question is which one of these bats would be the most like the combat B4. The combat b4 seems like a very balanced bat and he is more of a power hitter than a contact hitter. davew72
Is it BBCOR? Gloria
my son has been using the easton XL1 29" 19oz. with a end load he wants to go to a big barrel bat would this be a good bat? matt
My son is 10 yrs old, 85 lbs and currently uses a 2012 Voodoo 30/18. He is playing AAU this year and is allowed to use a big barrel bat. Would this bat be comparable in feel to the Voodoo or would you suggest a different bat? Mark
Last year (11u), my son used a 29/19, 2 5/8" I think, it was a DeMarini. He was 70 lbs, not overly strong, but the bat worked well. His hitting coach suggested a minimum of a 31/21 this year, he hasn't grown that much in height/weight, but several baseball people said his former bat was too light. I'm looking at the DeMarini Vexxum DXVXR 31/21 2 5/8". His hitting lessons off season have been with a 31/21, not sure the width. Does this sound like a good size? He's not a power hitter, he's struggled some, but with lots of hitting lessons, has gotten much better. Thoughts on length, weight, barrel width? Chris
How does the Vexxum compare to the Voodoo? Smittyre
My son is 12 yrs old 4' 6" tall, 75 lbs. I was going to purchase him a new bat this year and was wondering which bat would be better suited for him. I am looking at the 2013 Vexxum -10 28" 18 oz. and 2013 CF5 -10 29" 19 oz. He is small for his age and does not generate a lot of bat speed and is a contact hitter. Just looking for bat that will give him a little help, thanks. Eric
I have strong 7 year old 4' 5" son, I thinking about buying the COMbat Portent or the COMbat Pure. That was until I read on the 2013 DeMarini Vexxum not sure which is better for him. He is a power hitter which one would you advise and what size? I was thinking 28" 18 oz. al
Is this bat BBCOR certified? Mike
My son is 7 and a half years old, 55 inches and 85 lbs. I don't know anything about baseball and was directed to this site by his coach, he's currently using a 28" $20 bat from Walmart and does pretty well but it's too short. What would you recommend to purchase? He can use a big barrel bat. Tisha
My son is 12, he is 4'8" and weighs 85 lbs. he is playing in two different travel leagues this year. One allows a 2 1/4" barrel and the other a 2 5/8" barrel. He has been using a 2 1/4" 29" 20 oz. bat for over a year. I am looking to purchase two bats. He will see much faster pitching in the league that uses the 2 5/8" barrel bat. Any suggestions? Mark
Is there any difference between this bat and the 2014 Senior League Vexxum? Riddler
About the Brand
In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."
In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.
Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.
To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.
In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.
Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.
With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).
In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.
Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.
In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.
More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
