Description

New for Last season, Easton took the baseball diamond by storm when they released the inaugural Power Brigade Series. After its resounding success in all levels of baseball, Easton is now gearing up the Power Brigade for its debut on the fastpitch softball field! While the individual bats differ slightly from baseball to softball, the concept of the Power Brigade remains the same: Allow players to personalize their power. The fact is, that players draw power from different sources. Stronger players may want a bit more weight and endload to their bat, while smaller players want a little less weight and a balanced feel. Easton solves this problem by offering Power Brigade bats in two categories: The Speed Series and The XL Series. Speed Series bats (FS1, FS2, and FS3) are characterized by lighter length to weight ratios and balanced swing weights to produce faster swing speeds and more power as a result. XL Series bats (FX1 and FX2) are going to be a little heavier and have a enloaded feel, giving stronger players extra momentum through the zone and more power behind each swing. This bat, the FS3, is a one-piece fully composite design made from Easton's IMX Composite. If you're looking for extra swing speed this season, there's only one logical choice - the bat that's built for SPEED to give YOU more POWER! Easton: Personalize Your Power! The FS3 is approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: Nice weight balance and good sizes to choose from.

Cons: Bat really stung the hands when it was being hit. Daughter complained and I doubted it was that bad so I gave it a try in the cages with real leather balls from the machine. Man Talk about feeling a shock everytime I swang it. Not pleasant and I understood why she was complaining.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton FS3 Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP13S3? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is the same bat as the Synge or have they made something better? softball dad
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch replaced the Easton Synge. The Easton FS3 uses new technology for a more lightweight, balanced feel than the Synge.
Kara
I was wondering the differences from the FS3 and FS1. I have hesitated ordering because of the price differences. My daughter is a slap hitter and we like the FS3 but I was wondering if the FS1 is significantly different? hannasdad
The **PRE-BOOK** 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch bat will come in -11.5 sizing. It will be a One-Piece Fully Composite designed bat. The **PRE-BOOK** 2013 Easton FS1: FP13S1 Fastpitch bat will come in -10 sizing only. It will be a Two-Piece fully composite designed bat. Typically, Slap Hitters like a Two-Piece bat compared to a One-Piece design. You get more bat speed generated and more barrel flex when swinging through the zone. Both bats will be Balanced in Swing Weight. They both will come with Full 400 Day Warranties through Easton.
Brandon
Reviews on the Synge said their was webbing and paint chipping. Has the design of this bat been improved to prevent that? Patty
There was actually no structural defect or anything wrong with the Synge. Webbing and paint chipping is common among all composite bats.
John
When will this bat be available? Patty
All sizes listed are in stock and ready to ship.
Tyler
My daughter finished the season with the 2012 Easton Synergy Speed and loved it. I want to get her one for Christmas and was wondering if there was a 2013 model out? Dana
The 2013 Easton FS2: FP13S2 Fastpitch replaced the 2012 Easton Synergy Speed. The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch replaced the Easton Synge.
Kara
Does this have the new stamp that is required in Sep. 2013? Gary
Yes, the 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch bat will have the updated USSSA stamp on the barrel of the bat.
Brandon
How is the vibration or sting control with the FS3? Kimberly
For a one-piece bat, the 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 has above average sting and vibration reduction.
Tyler
I notice the bats have ratings from -3 to -13. Could you explain this rating. Usually the lower the rating the higher the price. Dale
This is called the length to weight ratio or drop, and represents the numerical difference between the length and the weight of the bat. For instance, a 30" -3 bat will weigh 27 oz. A 30" -10 bat will weigh 20 oz. etc... This number is not a rating system of any kind.
Tyler
I am buying my daughter her first composite bat. She is a 16 year old power hitter. What is the difference (other than price) between the FS1 and the FS3? Which would be the better for her? Matt
The Easton FS1: FP13S1 is a two-piece fully composite design with a very balanced swing weight. The Easton FS3: FP13S3 is a one-piece composite design with a very balanced swing weight. Here is a link for further comparison http://www.justbats.com/compare/. A power hitter generally prefers a one-piece design, therefore I would suggest the Easton FS3.
Aubrey
I have just purchased the easton FS3 -11.5 for my daughter.Does the bat requiring breaking in? Also she has complained of some jarring from the bat. Donna
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 is a composite bat that will require 150-200 hits to break-in.
Tyler
What is the biggest difference between the Easton FS3 one piece or the Easton FS1 two piece technology other than weight. Which one would you recommend? TWIST
The Easton FS1 is a two piece composite bat and is designed for high school and college players. The composite material in the handle is higher quality than the Easton FS3 which is a one piece composite bat. The Easton FS3 is also designed more for middle school and younger players.
Damon
can u use this bat in batting cage hitting dimple softballs gail
We do not recommend using dimple balls on the Easton FS3. The dimple balls tend to reduce the lifespan of the bat because they are more dense than regular softballs and put more stress on the bats.
Sean
My daughter currently has the 2012 stealth 2 pcs composite 32-22oz. She is in 8th grade playing 14u level. Looking to upgrade which FS series bat would be best for her? Art
The 2013 Easton FS1: FP13S1 replaced the Stealth and is the top recommendation. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate.
Tyler
My daughter is 12 and plays in two leagues with two sets of rules. She's a contact hitter and a bunter, she 5' tall and weighs 90 lbs. She wants to use one bat and be comfortable. One league uses ASA rules and the other is a recreation league that only allows 50/50 bats. Is there anything in the Brigade series that might be able to fit her needs? Rich
Unfortunately, there are no bats in Easton's Power Brigade Series that feature an alloy barrel and composite handle (aka 50/50 or "hybrid"). All the bats in that series are full composite. Some of the top bats that meet your criteria are the 2013 Anderson FlexZilla FP: FZFP, Anderson NanoTek FP: NANOFP12 and Worth Quad PST: FPQPST.
Tyler
is there a temperature at which u should not hit with the bat astro21
We recommend that, in temperatures of 50 degrees Fahrenheit or lower, you do not use your game bat. In that situation, we suggest using an older bat or one dedicated to practice. Around this temperature, the ball becomes much more dense and could damage the bat.
Mac
Which bat would you recommend for a 5'3" 12-year old girl playing for tournament teams? Upgrading from an Easton Typhoon SK61B, 32" & usually 5th/6th in the batting order. Kat
I would recommend going with the 32" 20.5 oz. 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch.
Marcus
Can my daughter use the Easton FS3: FP13S3 in high school fastpitch. If she can what lenght and weight option would you recemmend. My Daughter is 14yrs and stand 5'2 and her weight is 116 and she is in the 9th grade. Theron
Yes. The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 is legal in High School play. A 32" model of the FS3 is recommended based on her size.
Tyler
My Daughter is playing 10U travel ball and I am needing a new bat for her. I'm wanting to get it in 30" but I am in question about the weight and whether to go with a 30/20 of the FS1 or the 30/18.5 of the FS3. she is 10 yrs old , weights 88 lbs and is 56" tall if that helps. Goforbroke
That all depends on the length and weight of her current bat, and her strength and swing speed. It's natural to move up 1-3 oz. with each new bat, especially if the player had good strength and good swing speed with their previous bat.
Tyler
I purchased a bat at the end of last season for my 9 year old daughter who moved up to 10U play, it was a Miken 32" 20 oz. However, she has a hard time getting it around, not sure if it's the length or weight. I want to know if a 30" 20 oz. bat would swing lighter due to being 2" shorter, or should I drop to a 19 oz.? Timeout
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch is a drop -11.5 bat, so it will be 1/2 oz. heavier than the bat she was using. Given all the information you outlined, dropping down two inches and maintaining a similar length to weight ratio would probably help your daughter increase her swing speed.
Kevin
What's the difference between this bat and the the fp11sg? I'm looking for the better bat, kinda team use bat. Tin
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch bat is created the same as the Easton Synge. Both will be one-piece in design and 100% composite. But the FS3 will feature Easton's Single System Technology. It will help eliminate the vibrations that may travel to the hitter's hands. Also, it will have a full 400 Day warranty.
Brandon
I would like to know the best length bat for my daughter. Second year playing fast pitch softball has a very fast swing but she doesn't have a lot of power behind it. Currently using a 29" 18 oz. aluminium bat. We are looking at the Easton FS3 32" 20.5 oz. or 31" 19.5 oz. She is 11 and weighs about 95lbs. and height is 62". I am open to any suggestions that you may have. Steve
I would recommend going with the 32" 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3.
Kevin
Besides the paint, what is the difference between the 2013 Easton FS3 and the 2012 Synge? As a one piece composite bat, should we expect the same vibration in the handle? Ennis
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch bat and the Easton Synge: FP11SG Fastpitch bat use the same IMX composite and are the same one-piece design. They will perform very comparable.
Aubrey
I bought the 2013 Easton FS3, but is there a break in period? softball Daddy
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch will require a break-in period. We recommend taking 100-200 swings off a tee or soft toss. We recommend swinging at 40% and gradually work up to 100% as you get closer to 150 swings. Rotate the barrel about 1/4 inch each swing. We do not recommend using a composite bat in a batting cage that uses yellow dimpled balls.
Kara
My daughter has quick hands and power. She is only 9 and took a ball out of the park at 220 with ease. She is currently using the 31" 21 oz. Syngery. What do you recommend for a new bat? coltonj1
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch is the successor to the Synergy and would make a great follow up bat.
Kevin
Is there a 30 day return policy on all your bats? totall
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch can be returned in its original condition at any time. There is no time frame that unused items may be returned for an exchange or refund.
Katie
Does the bat come with two barrels? And is it able to be used in Modified and Little League? anonymous
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch is a one-piece composite bat. It is approved in Little League. For exact rules in Modified, please contact your local league official.
Kara
My FS3 bat does not have a USSSA stamp on it. Will I have a problem having it approved by leagues and umpires for tournament games? softball queen
All the 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 bats we have in stock should have the new USSSA stamp. If you received on without the stamp, please call our Customer Support Team at 1-866-321-2287. If a bat does not have a USSSA stamp, it will run the risk of being deemed illegal in USSSA sanctioned leagues and tournaments.
Tyler
I have seen several replies state that you should not use a composite bat in the batting cage with the yellow dippled balls. What are you to use? softball dad
We suggest to stay away for any use of yellow dimpled balls with an alloy or composite bat. They are too heavy and can break you bat.
Chad M.
Daugter is 9 yrs old currently swings an Easton alloy bat 29" 17 oz. Looking to get her a composite, don't think she can handle a heavier bat but all indications it that this one swings lighter. Would you recommend a 29 17.5? JOE
Yes, if you are going to move her up a half ounce, the 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch will be the right bat to do that in. It has a really low M.O.I which means that it will have a very light feel to it when she swings it.
Chad M.
My daughter is 10, is 5 ft 90 lbs. I'm debating between a 32/20.5 and a 31/19.5. Any thoughts? She had a CV12 31/21 and loved it so I am trying to get close to that. Susan
It would be wise to get a bat that is closest in weight to her current bat. A 32" 20.5 oz. model of the 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 would be recommended over the 31" 19.5 oz. model. The only way I would go with the 31" model is if she struggled with swing speed and bat control with her 31" 21 oz. CV12.
Tyler
My daughter is 12 years old 62" tall and weight of 105 pounds. She has good power. Which Easton would you recommend to get the ball out of the infield or some power out of it? Mike
With the height and weight given we suggest that you get the 2013 Easton FS3 Fastpitch in the 32" 20.5 oz. model. The Easton FS3 will add a lot of pop to your daughters game.
Chad M.
Daughter is 9 and about 4' 4" 61 lbs. Her current bat is 28" 16 oz. -12 (COMbat), and I'm looking to transition her into the 29" 17.5 oz. FS3 for the next year or so in 10u. Is that the right choice for her? She is a contact line drive hitter. PCar
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch is a great choice for a contact hitter, as it's very balanced. Increasing the length by 1-2" weight by 1-2 oz. in a year is a natural transition, so the 29" should be a good fit for her.
Katie
My daughter is 8 years old, 4' and 60 lbs. She has been swinging a Anderson KFP 28"/17 oz. She is a great contact hitter but struggles with bat speed. I think it's because her bat is a little end loaded. She has swung a FS3 that is a heavier weight and she says it seems lighter. What is your recommendation for a new bat? BULL
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch is a great one-piece composite option that is well balanced. The 2013 DeMarini Vendetta C6: DXVCF Fastpitch is another well balanced option that is a two-piece composite in a -12 length to weight ratio.
Katie
My daughter is 13 5' 6" 166 lbs. What size bat and type should she use? Will
Based on her height and weight we recommend a 33" to a 34" bat. The type of bat she uses is also based on the type of hitter she is. If she is a power hitter, the Easton FX2 would be a good option for her. The Easton FS3 is designed for a younger player who needs to increase their bat speed.
Kara
I understand not to use this bat at the cages, but what about using it with a hit stick? Wally Gator
We would also not recommend using a hitting stick training tool with your bat. The "ball" is much more dense than a softball, and could damage or shorten the useful life of the bat. The barrel of the 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch, and other non-wood models, are not designed to hit very dense objects.
Mac
What is the difference between the 2012 and 2013 Easton FS3 bat? randi
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch replaced the Easton Synge: FP11SG. Both bats will be very similar as they both have the same IMX Composite and are very balanced.
John H
My daughter is 14 and a freshman in high school and is using a Xeno -10 now, but she's not getting the pop she needs. She is 5' 9" 120 lbs. and a powerful hitter. Which Easton would you recommend and why? KG
The 2013 Easton FX2: FP13X2 Fastpitch is a one-piece composite which is a popular option with power hitters due to the end loaded design.
Katie
In looking at bats I was wondering if this bat can be used in boys Little League, 10-12 yr olds? Is there any 'bat construction' reason it should not be? I've read where, at this level, differences in bats are very slight. I like the length and weight options offered. Thanks for any insight. Mly13
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch could not be used in Little League because it does not have the proper certifications for baseball. The 2013 Easton S1: YB13S1 Youth would be a great alternative for a baseball bat.
Kara
Is the Easton FS3 FP13S3? JP
Yes, the 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch is the same FP13S3 model.
Brandon
Is the Easton Synge 2012 -11.5, 28" the same as the FS3: FP13S3 -11.5? Is the swing and pop the same? What about the barrels? Which is best? Thanks. Jp
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch bat will be a one-piece fully composite design just like the older Easton Synge. Both will have 2 1/4" barrel diameters and balanced swing weights. The 2013 FS3 will be made of all IMX Composite unlike the Synge. It will also have a longer, full 400 Day warranty from Easton.
Brandon
Can my daughter use the FS3 for Little League softball? melk
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch is legal in Little League softball.
Kara
Does this bat have the USSSA 1.20 "thumbprint" stamp? Handsolo
Yes, the 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch bat features the new thumbprint stamp as pictured on the website.
Aubrey
FS2 vs. FS3. Which is a better bat, even if my 10 year old daughter is ok with -10? Lighter might be better, but she can make contact with her current 31" 21 oz. Fil
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch and the 2013 Easton FS2: FP13S2 Fastpitch bat both use the same IMX composite material in the barrel of the bat. The 2013 Easton FS2: FP13S2 will use a higher grade of composite in the handle.
Kara
Is this bat legal for Dixie Youth Softball? Trita
Yes, the 2013 Easton FS3 is legal for Dixie Youth Softball.
Damon
I just bought this bat. I am 15, 5'6" 125 lbs and a freshman. Would this bat last me all through high school or should I buy the FS1 instead? sballfan
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch uses the same IMX composite material in the barrel of the bat as the FS1. Both are very durable and perform very well.
Kara
Does the Worth Sick or this bat have more pop? fdbjk
The 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch and Worth SICK Fastpitch bats have the same performance certifications and one-piece composite designs, so they will have similar "pop". The only noticeable difference would be the length to weight ratios.
Mac
Will this bat be back in stock in a 30"? dfibk
We will not be receiving more inventory of the 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch.
Kara
Is this bat ok to use in colder weather? livvy
e do not recommend using any non-wood bat, including the 2013 Easton FS3: FP13S3 Fastpitch, in temperatures below 60°F (16°C). In those temperatures, the ball becomes much more dense and could damage or shorten the useful life of your bat. Composite can crack, and alloy can dent, so neither material is proven to be better in cold weather, unfortunately.
Mac
Can you compare this bat to the easton synge? My daughter likes the synge but I like to see what other options are available to her without a distract change. Ryan
You're actually comparing two very similar models. Both are balanced, one-piece composite models with a -11.5 length to weight ratio. The only difference will be that the FS3 is completely constructed from the IMX Composite while the Surge had the old CNT Composite in its handle. If she likes the Synge, she should like the FS3 just as well.
Mac
Since this bat is now discontinued, what has it been replaced by? Why was it not around very long? Mom of 3
The 2013 model of the Easton FS3 is discontinued because the 2014 FS3 will be out around 11/1/2013.
Aubrey
My daughter is 17 years old, 5'3", and weighs 107lbs. She is an excellent contact/line drive hitter, but struggles with bat speed. Would you recommend the FS1 or the FS3? Stoney
Since your daughter needs some help with bat speed, we would recommend the 2014 Easton FS1 (FP14S1). It is a two-piece bat that will allow for more flex to help increase swing speed.
