Pros: The Mako feels more end loaded like the XL1. It virtually feels just like the XL1 but 1 ounce lighter. When my son hit both the Mako and XL1 on the sweet spot, the XL1 flew farther. My recommendation is that if you are strong enough to swing the XL1, get the XL1. If you need your bat a little lighter get the Mako or XL2 or XL3 to save some dough. If you need more swing speed, stick to the S Series. Cons:None. Great bat for the person that can't quite swing the XL1 but the S series is too light for.

I am 12 and 95 lbs. I swing a 31" 21 oz bat. Should I stay with the size? What is better: The 2014 MAKO or the 2014 Easton XL1?

The best way to determine the correct size of bat for a player is by their height and weight. However, a 12 year old is typically swinging a 31" bat. It really depends on what type of hitter you are to determine which bat is best for you. The Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) has a balanced swing weight and is typically better for contact hitters. The Easotn XL1 has a slightly end loaded swing weight and is better for a power hitter.

My son is 11 years old, 4'9" and 75 lbs. What size MAKO do you recommend?

For a player of his age and size, our bat coach would recommend the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) in a 30" 19 oz. model. We do not currently have that size in stock, so we would recommend the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in that same size.

My son is 10. He is 4 foot 6 and weighs 102 pounds. We are sticking with a 30 inch bat but what weight would you recommend? He is pretty strong and can hit for power. I am stuck on the Mako or Mako XL. There is one ounce difference in each bat. He had an S1 that was 29 inches and 17 ounces last year that he hit very well with. I don't want to sacrifice speed but want more pop.

Based on what he had been using, I would suggest the 30 inch 19 ounce Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK). About a 2 ounce adjustment is usually what we recommend limiting a player's transition to. This allows for more mass to the bat but also allows the player to keep swing speed and form relatively in tact. Going with the 2015 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKX) would make it a 3 ounce adjustment which would make the transition that much harder.
