The pop on this bat is unreal they were hitting hard line drives and long fly balls to the outfield !! i swear they gained more than 10-20 yards on there outfield hits !! this is a great bat and i like the color

Pros: it flies when you connect

Cons: i bought the 28 -11 for my son. he has never had a problem swinging a 17 oz bat. bought a scale today and the bat weighed 19 oz. he is a little slower getting it around but still hits well. just be aware. some other bats are a little closer to the correct weight.

Boom Stick Pleased Customer parent

Pros: My son upgraded to the 28" MAKO from a Combat Portent 27/15 and there is no comparison. Balls are coming off the bat much faster/quicker and going a lot farther. Also seemed that the break-in time was much quicker as well. Just a few hits off the tee and some soft toss and it was ready to go. The Combat seemed to take much longer. Highly recommend the MAKO.

Impressed Jeff coach

Pros: I noticed an immediate change in my son's hitting with this one. I was skeptical that the price reflected the same increase in performance. Normal grounders are sharper and line drives seem to be 15 to 20% further. For comparison, he was using the Easton S300 (2014) prior.

Cons: Tiny pin pricks of paint on the barrel upon first use. Only aesthetic, but still.

Wow Tanner player

Pros: I'm a 12 year old travel ball player and my teammate recently got this bat. The pop of this bat is absolutely unbelievable, in practice I hit a ball about 275 feet and the others really hard hit line drives, huge sweetspot, nice color.

Cons: It feels endloaded, they say it's a balanced bat but it doesn't feel much different than the XL1

Indiana all star coach Joe coach

Pros: This is the best bat out there. My son hit 80 balls over the fence last year with it. we used it on the all star team and had a two run homer hit over the fence to win the game. I called it the secret weapon. I let several boys use this bat besides my son and made them look like a top rate hitter. We wore it out last year because we used it so much. I just ordered another for this year. It may be more expensive than the other bats, but it earned every penny I paid for it last year.

Cons: The bat did cause little vibration sometimes, but if you wear batting gloves the vibration is not that bad.

Good Bat Mostly steven player

Pros: This bat has a killer amount of pop out of the wrapper. All though with the LL design it can be hard to connect, but 2nd to the xl1 this thing most likely is the best little league bat on the market. Hit 4 bombs with it in little league season and one in all stars. All were around 220-260 feet deep and maybe even 280. Not even a power hitter either. One kid took one about 320 into opposite field with this.

Cons: Literally broke in half after a year and 2 months..... probably faulty bat, but still kinda crazy.....

Pros: Nothing new here. This is a great bat for pop and feel. My son loved it out of the box.

Easton mako 2015 Gregory player

Pros: Tons of pop, and feels light through the zone. It also has a good sized barrel.

Cons: The durability is bad, my first mako cracked in the middle of an all star game. Luckily my friend had one that we used for that game, then the next day his cracked. Then I decided to order a new mako and the first bp with new high end baseball it got a surface crack( paint chip). It doesn't really matter that this one has chipped paint. But hopefully easton upgrades the durability of there next mako's.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MK? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

I'm 5' 5" tall and weigh 125 pounds and I don't know if I should get this bat. kid
The 2015 Easton MAKO (YB15MK) is a great option for a player with your height and weight.
Sean
What is the difference between the 2015 Easton Mako Youth & the 2014 Mako Youth? Nuuanu Cardinals
The will be no difference other than paint scheme between the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) and the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK). However, the 2015 MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) will be a -10 model and have the 29/32 TORQ Handle Gauze Grip as well as the 360 Degree Rotating Handle Technology. Additionally, the 2015 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MKX will be a -10 model and will have a longer barrel than the regular MAKO.
Damon
Can you tell me the proper size of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat I should get for my son? He is 11 years old (will turn 12 in January), is 61 inches tall and weighs between 90 and 95 lbs. I want the bast to last him through spring 2015 at least, and preferably through Spring 2016 (is that realistic?). He thinks he should get a 31 inch length, 20 oz. bat. What do you think? Tom
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 31" 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK). It is tough to say how long any bat will last since it will truly depend on how often the bat is used and if proper bat care is followed. This bat is covered under a 12 month manufacturer warranty through Easton, so if your bat were to become broken or damaged within a year of purchase, you can return it back to them for the warranty replacement.
Tessa
Is this bat approved for Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken leagues? ke
The 6-12 year old Cal Ripken division in Babe Ruth Baseball allows for 2 1/4" small barrel bats as long as they have the USSSA BPF 1.15 stamp. Therefore, the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Basbeball Bat (YB15MK) is legal.
Damon
Does this bat feature the Connexion ZERO Technology in it? AWESOME kid
Only the 2015 MAKO Fastpitch models will feature the ConneXion (CXN) ZERO Technology. The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) will have the same CXN Technology as the 2014 model.
Mac
Is this bat authorized for use in Little League? jimk33
Yes, the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is approved for play in Little League.
John
What size bat should my 6 year old use? He is 50" tall and weighs about 55 lb. Would the MAKO be a better choice over the S1 for him? joe
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) and the Easton S1 are great choices to go with. The only difference between the two is that the MAKO features an extended barrel design, which is normally only seen in end loaded bats. The MAKO is the best of both worlds as far as contact and power hitting go. It will also have a slightly larger sweet spot compared to the S1. The S1 is a great model as well, it just doesn't feature the same extended barrel, so it will be more preferred for a player who hits for contact. Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 29" bat.
Tessa
Is this bat approved for travel baseball? Also, which one is better, the MAKO Torq or this one? power hitter
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) will be approved for Little League and travel. It will not feature a big barrel, like most travel ball bats have. The MAKO Torq will also be a great option. It has a rotating handle piece which makes for a very comfortable swing.
Brandon
Can you tell me the proper size of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat I should get my grandson? He is 7 years old (will turn 8 next weeek), is 51 1/2" tall and weighs around 60 lbs. Betty
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 28" model in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Jason
I'm trying to decide on a size for my son who is 53" and 68 lbs. He is on a competitive 11U team. Any sizing suggestions would be appreciated. baller42
Based on the player's approximate height and weight, I would suggest 28" in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: (YB15MK).
Merritt
What is the difference between the 2015 MAKO and the 2015 S1? jose
There are a few differences between the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) and 2015 S1 Youth (YB15S1). Both bats are two-piece, fully composite, and have balanced swing weights. But the MAKO provides a larger sweet spot than the S1 and is one ounce heavier in the same length. The specific composite materials are different as well, and that material difference is what allows the MAKO to offer a larger sweet spot and still have a balanced swing weight.
Mac
Is the 2015 Easton Mako youth bat balanced or end loaded? TJ
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is a balanced design.
Patrick
What bat is better, the 2015 MAKO XL or 2015 MAKO? And what is the difference? Ryan
Neither bat is proven to outperform the other, and they're really designed for different players. The 2015 Easton MAKO XL is the model that replaced the XL1. It has a longer barrel than the MAKO, is one ounce heavier in the same length, and has a slightly end loaded swing weight compared to the balanced swing weight of this 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK). Stronger players tend to use the MAKO XL more efficiently.
Mac
My son is 9 years old. He is 4 foot 10 and weighs 102 pounds. Could you please tell me what size bat and model would be best suited for him? He will be playing in the Little League minors division this spring. LegoMom
Based on your son's height and weight, we would suggest a 30 inch bat. The model would be more dependent on the player's preference. In the youth bat category, the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is one of the top of the line bats on the market.
Patrick
I have a six year old son who weighs about 60 pounds and is 4 foot 3 inches tall. I was wondering what size bat would be good for him? chrisj
Based on your sons height and weight, we would suggest a 28 inch version of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Patrick
Is their a powerful hard hitting bat like this that is cheaper? Possibly a previous year... jdogg
We do have last years model of the Easton MAKO available. It is the 2014 Easton MAKO (YB14MK). I have also included a link below to the bat: http://www.justbats.com/product/2014-easton-mako-youth-baseball-bat--yb14mk/18442/?pa_source=justbats&pa_campaign=was&pa_medium=badges&pa_content=2014-easton-mako-youth-baseball-bat--yb14mk
Kelby
Out of all Easton bats, which one has the most power and would be best for me? I am 4'3" and weigh almost 60 pounds. jdogg
Power directly correlates to a player's overall strength, bat speed, and hitting style. This means that the amount of power a bat has will depend on the player. The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is a great option for a player who can hit for both power and contact, due to its extended barrel and balanced swing weight. Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 28" bat.
Tessa
I am about 60 pounds and 4'3".Would the -12 Omen XL be better for me or the MAKO? I am not that much of a hard hitter, but it is only my first year playing. jdogg
Both models are very similar to each other, since they will feature a two-piece composite design. The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) features an upgraded TCT Thermo composite material, whereas the Omen XL featured the IMX Composite design. The MAKO also features an extended barrel design, which means that will have a slightly larger sweet spot than the Omen.
Tessa
I was told by an expert that I should use a 28" bat. On your chart it says I should use a 29" bat. I have been swinging a 29" -12 bat. Which should I use? jdogg
If you have already been swinging a 29", by all means go for the longer size. It will help you protect the plate and allow you to make contact and extend your arms more efficiently. The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) will be a -11 drop.
Brandon
What do they mean by the MAKO is balanced? For example, on the S1, the weight is at the handle and on the XL1, the weight is at the end cap. Where is the weight on the MAKO? Thank you. M
The balanced weight on the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) will be found throughout the entire design. It will not feel barrel heavy, like the XL-Series. This bat will feel more like the S1, with a longer more extended barrel length.
Brandon
My son is 10 years old. He's 4' 10" and he is 90 lbs. Is a 31" MAKO OK for him? According to the chart he is almost there. Will it really be that much harder to control, compared to a 30"? Thank you. M
Even though the 30" is best recommended, the 31" 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) will not be that much harder to control. It will just be adding 1" and 1 oz. As long as it doesn't slow down his bat speed you guys should be just fine.
Brandon
I'm 10 years old. I'm 5'7" and 160 lbs. I've been using a Rawlings VELO 31" 18 oz. bat. My coach says I should use a drop 8 bat. Do you agree, and if so, what bat do you recommend? David
In the -8 size, the 2015 RIP-IT AIR Senior League Baseball Bat (B1508) would swing like the Rawlings VELO you've been using. Also, the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC68) would be a good choice. The -11, 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) would be a great selection, but would not be a -8.
Brandon
My son is 8 years old, weighs 81 lbs at 4'9" height. I've looked at the charts that say a 30" bat but this seems too big. What size bat should he be using? Daniel
Based on his height and weight, our Bat Coach recommends a 30" 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK). Sizing is preferential though, so if he would prefer to go with a shorter bat, that is definitely something to take into consideration as well.
Tessa
My son currently has a Youth Louisville Slugger Attack. I would like to know if the Easton Mako will help him drive the ball farther or will they be the same? I know the XL Series would probably help but what about the regular Mako? M
The sweet spot of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) will be bigger than the sweet spot on the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack Youth Baseball Bat (YBAT14-RR) which can lead to more solid hits overall but at their peak, both bats will perform similarly. The safety regulations of the bats will restrict them from exceeding the performance of other models.
Patrick
My son is 10 years old, 4'7", and 68 lbs. What size bat would you recommend? tsdog
A 29" 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) would be the best recommended size for him.
Brandon
My grandson is 10 years old and 110 lbs. We would like to purchase a bat he could use for at least two years? Is the MAKO the way to go? Tom
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) would definitely be a great bat with great durability. At age 10, the -10 size works best. But by age 12, a -8 bat works best. so there may need to be a size change by the time he is 12 years old.
Brandon
I have a Omen XL and am wondering what the differences are between these two? Is it worth the money to buy this bat? jdogg
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) and the Omen XL have some similar characteristics, but the MAKO is an upgrade. The MAKO features new TCT Thermo Composite compared to IMX Composite featured in the Omen XL. The TCT Thermo Composite makes the MAKO an extremely balanced bat and gives it one of the lightest swing weights on the market. The TCT Thermo composite also provides the MAKO with an extended barrel, which gives it a bigger sweet spot.
Jason
Is this the best bat that there is? jdogg
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is a very good bat. It is a two-piece composite. It is made with newer composite material that will give you a light swing.
Allison
What are the differences between the 2014 Easton Mako Youth bat and the new 2015 Easton Mako Youth bat? Glenn
The will be no difference other than paint scheme between the 2014 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) and the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Liz
My son is 7 years old, 49 lbs, and 47" tall. Do you think the MAKO 28/ 17 oz would be okay for him? Would the S1 be better? Should both these bats swing as easy despite the slightly lower drop in the S1? g
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 28" model in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK). The MAKO and the S1 are both excellent options and are very light swinging. They are incredibly balanced overall and either choice will work for him. The S1 may swing a little lighter simply because it is an ounce less though, but it really depends on the player. If he needs to develop quicker bat speed, then the one ounce difference on the S1 could benefit him.
Jason
My son is 10 Years Old, 4'3" and weighs 55lbs. He is mostly a contact hitter, which is the best bat size and choice for him between the Mako and the Mako XL? Baseball Dad
Typically for contact hitters, we would recommend a two-piece bat. The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is a well-balanced two-piece bat.
Joe
What is the difference between the MAKO YB15MK and the XL version? vinnie
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is -11, while the 2015 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKX) is -10 with a little bit longer of a barrel, however, the XL Youth is still balanced.
Allison
I'd like to know which of the Mako bats you guys would suggest for my son who is 11yrs old and weighs 102lbs. I'd also like to know which size you'd suggest especially if we'd like him to have this bat for the next couple years. He'll turn 12 in October. Lanman
For the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK), our bat coach recommends a 30" 19 ounce bat. Also, you need to take into consideration, that the barrel diameter required by his league will probably change within the next year or two from the 2 1/4" diameter to a 2 5/8" diameter. Additionally, the size of the player has to be taken into consideration.
Joe
what length do you suggest my son is 9years old 4'8" and weighs 92 lbs? also does this bat come in 2 5/8" barrell? possum
We recommend 30 inches for the length but unfortunately we do not have the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MK in a 2 5/8 barrel diameter.
Ryan
What are the differences between the MAKO and the XL3? Which hits the ball farther? jdogg
There are significant differences between the two. The 2015 Easton Mako Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is going to be a two-piece fully composite bat. The XL3 is going to be a one-piece all alloy design. The XL3 is going to be an end-loaded bat while the Mako is going to be more balanced.
Jake
My son is interested in an Easton Mako; he is 11 years old, he weighs about 79 pounds and five feet. What size bat do you suggest-size, length, weight? I would like it to last for a few years, considering the cost. Thank you. Karla
For a player of his size, our bat coach recommends the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in a 30" 19 ounce pattern.
Joe
My son is about to turn 8. He is 4'5" and weighs 70 lbs. Last year he used a 28/15 bat. What size Mako would you recommend? T
We would recommend the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in a 29" 18 oz. for his size.
Allison
What are the differences between the Youth MAKO and the Omen XL? jdogg
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) will have a longer more extended barrel length and an updated newer composite ( TCT Thermo) compared to the older Omen XL. Also, the MAKO Youth will feature a barrel diameter of 2 1/4".
Brandon
What is the difference between the YB15MK and the YB15MKX? Which would be better? big bob
Both the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) and the YB15MKX are excellent bats. The only difference between the two is going to be the length to weight ratio. The YB15MK is going to be a -11 whereas the YB15MKX is going to be a -10.
Jake
My son is 11 yo 5'0" 105lbs. What would be a good size and weight bat for him? Foxie
Using our bat coach I would suggest getting the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in a 30 inch.
Frankie
Seems some reviews cite that the bat actually weighs 2 oz. more than what is listed. (ie an 18 oz. bat weighs 20 oz) My son is 4'9", 80 lbs, and looking at a 29-18 in the Mako for him. But if it's closer to 20 oz. it will be too heavy for him to generate enough bat speed. Can you verify if this is true? Thurgood
Easton typically does a great job at manufacturing these bats with the correct weight. The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) should be true to its listed size. It doesn't happen very often, but I do understand how some bats may get created heavier than listed. If this is ever the case we or Easton will always work with you to help you get anything you ever need.
Brandon
My son is 11 years old and is 4'7'' and weighs 80 lbs. What weight and length bat do you recommend? Michael
Using our bat coach, I would suggest going with a 29" 18 oz. 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Liz
My son is 8 years old. He weighs 65 pounds and is 4 foot 3 inches tall. What size bat would you recommend? Laura
Using our bat coach I would recommend getting the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in a 28 inch.
Frankie
What is the difference between the Easton YB15X3 and the YB15MK? HAPDADDY86
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is a two-piece, fully composite design that is more balanced. The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) is more barrel heavy and is a single-piece alloy bat.
Patrick
What is the difference between this bat and the MAKO XL YB15MKX? ola
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) and the MAKO XL (YB15MKX) will use the same TCT Thermo Composite Technology. The differance is that the MAKO (YB15MK) will have a -11 drop while the MAKO XL (YB15MKX) will have a -10 drop.
John
How much heavier is this bat than advertised? Thanks CT
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) will be a drop 11 length to weight ratio. It is possible for bats to weigh slightly more than what they are listed for.
Joe
My son is 12 years old and is 5'6" tall and is 220 lbs! I am thinking a 32"21 oz bat. Is this the right size 2015 MAKO bat for him? Is this youth bat little league approved? Rich
Based on his height and weight, a 32" 21 oz model in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is the best size for him. The YB15MK is approved for play in Little League. It features the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp and the approved for play in Little League stamp.
Jason
This is my son's first year in coach pitch and he uses the MAKO Tee ball bat in a 28"13 oz. model. Will the 28" 17 oz model be too large for him as a 6 year old? Shug
For a player of your son's size, our bat coach would recommend the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in a 28" 17 oz. model. You could also consider the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) in a 28" 16 oz. model.
Joe
What would be better, this bat that is a -11 with a 2 1/4" diameter or a -3 bat with a 2 5/8" barrel diameter? tdag
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is a youth model designed for younger players. A BBCOR bat which features a drop 3 and 2 5/8" barrel diameter is designed for high school and collegiate players.
Joe
What is the difference between the MAKO and MAKO XL? Is it only drop 11 vs. drop 10? McGee
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is one ounce lighter in the same length as the MAKO XL, like you mentioned. But with that extra ounce, you also get a slightly longer sweet spot with the MAKO XL.
Mac
What are the biggest differences between the 2015 Mako and the 2015 DeMarini CF7? Sparty300
The CF7 is going to be a very balanced bat that has a D fusion handle that is going to help minimize vibration. The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is going to have an extended barrel and this gives the bat a slightly end-loaded feel.
Frankie
My son is 9 years old and he swings a 29" 16 oz. Will the 29" 18 oz. MAKO be too heavy? Derrick
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) will be quite a bit heavier than the 16 oz. model that you are currently swinging, however for that age, there are quite a few players who are capable of swinging a drop 11 model such as the MAKO.
Joe
My son is 7 years old turning 8 in May. He is 53" tall and aproximately 55 pounds. Do you think he could get 2 seasons out of the 28" 17 oz MAKO, or would it be too small next year? Ken
Based on his height and weight, our Bat Coach recommends a 29" 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK). Sizing is preferential though, so if he would feel more comfortable going with a 28" 17 oz. model, that is definitely something to take into consideration. It is tough to say if this bat would be able to be used next year, but a 29" is definitely something that he could grow into. For more information on sizing, check out our Bat Coach: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/.
Tessa
My son is eight years old and is looking for a new bat. He currently plays with a 28 inch 16 ounce bat. He is 53 inches tall and weighs 59 pounds. Do you think the Mako 29 inch 18 ounce is a good fit? NJ
Based on height and weight, the 29 inch 18 ounce size of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) would be a great fit for your player.
Patrick
How does the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) compare to the DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL)? Blkhwk21
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) features a two-piece full composite design with a balanced swing weight, and large sweet spot. The DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL) features a two-piece hybrid design with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. Additionally it features an end-loaded swing weight. Typically, we would recommend an end-loaded model for a power hitter. If you were looking for similar performance and balance to the MAKO, with a higher drop weight, we would recommend the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) in a drop 12.
Joe
My son is 5'4" 110 lbs and about to turn 11 in Little League Majors. He is using an older 30" composite bat. Would you recommend 31" or 32"? LL-Pops
For his size our Bat Coach would recommend a 31" in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Allison
My son is 4 foot 8 inches and weighs 80 pounds. What length would you recommend? Jerry
Based on his height and weight we suggest getting the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in a 29 inch. But if he is more comfortable with the 30 inch bat he should stick with that.
Frankie
My son is 11 years old, 5'1" and 140 lbs. What size should I get him? Will
For a player of his size, our bat coach would recommend the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in a 31" 20 oz. model.
Joe
I'm 5' and 135 lbs. I am a power hitter, would the MAKO, MAKO XL, TORQ or the CF7 fit me best? desiel
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) features a two piece full composite design with a balanced swing weight and a large sweet spot. The 2015 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKX) features a two piece full composite design with an end-loaded swing weight and replaced the XL1 from last year. We would recommend this bat for a power hitter.
Joe
My son is 7 years old. He's 4'3" and 85 pounds. How does this bat compare with the S3? Would this be a better bat for him to use i.e. more pop? jaden t.
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is a two piece composite bat with a balanced swing weight. The Easton S3 is a one piece alloy bat with a balanced swing weight. One is not going to have more "pop" than the other, but they are structurally different so it's going to come down to what the player is more comfortable with.
Tom
I am 12 years old, 5'6" and 150 lbs. What bat weight and length should I get? bob
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 32" 21 oz in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Jason
My son is 10 years old. He is 5 foot 1 and weighs 78 pounds. I just purchased the Easton Mako YB15MK in a 31 inch -11. Is this a good size? JR
Based on height and weight, that size of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) should be a good fit.
Patrick
What is the break in time? cesar
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) has a composite barrel and will require a break in period of approximately 150-200 swings.
Tom
Does this bat require a break-in? red
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) does require a short break-in period. To properly break in your composite bat, we recommend taking 150-200 swings playing soft toss or off a tee using real baseballs. Begin swinging at 40% power and work our way up to full strength as you get closer to 200 swings. It"s also important to rotate the bat ¼' after each swing to ensure that you get complete barrel coverage.
Jake
My son is 4 ft 8 inches tall and weighs 89 lbs. Should he play with a 29" or 30" bat? red
I would recommend a 30" in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) for a player with that height and weight.
John
My son is 4'6" and 63 lbs. What length and weight would you recommend for him? Johnny
For a player of his size, our bat coach would recommend the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in a 29" 18 oz. model.
Joe
My son is 4'9" & 70lbs and is a heavy hitter. Besides this bat, what other bat options would be good fit for him including length and weight? Jesse
I would suggest a 30" 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK). Aside from the MAKO I would also suggest a 2015 DeMarini CF7 Youth Baseball Bat (DXCFL).
Jake
My son is 12 years old, 5'4" and 185 pounds. What bat do you recommend? greg
Based in your son's height and weight, we would recommend a 33" bat. Unfortunately, at this time there is not 33" model in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Chinyere
My son is 11 years old and weighs 100 pounds. What size bat do you recommend? fig
The size we would suggest would be based on both height and weight. Without knowing the height of the player, it would be tough to recommend a size of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Patrick
I have the 2014 28 inch 18 ounce XL1 that my son has been using with a lot of success. Is there any reason to get the Mako XL or is it essentially the same bat as last years XL1? Miggie
The 2015 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKXL) uses an upgraded composite material that allows for a bit better durability and it also makes the bat be slightly more balanced. Other than that, the performance should be similar.
Patrick
I am about 5 foot 2 inches and 130 pounds. What size bat would you recommend for me? red
We would recommend getting a 31 inch in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK)
Frankie

Based on height and weight, we would recommend a 32 inch size of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Patrick
My son is 4'9" and weighs 88 lbs. He used an Easton S2 29/16 as a 9u. What size bat should he use? tugger
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 30" 19 oz option in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Jason
My son is 4 foot 5 inches and weighs 65 pounds. What size would you recommend? DWILCO
Based on your sons height and weight I would suggest getting the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in a 29 inch.
Frankie
Can the 2015 Mako 30 inch 19 ounce be used for 50/70? marcus
The Intermediate (50/70) level of play for the Little League organization allows for a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter so the youth model of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) would be a smaller bat than what most players will be using. Technically, I think it would be allowed but would not necessarily be advantageous.
Patrick
Is this recommended for 10-11 year olds? Dad
Yes, the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth (YB15MK) would be recommended for players in that age group.
John H
How long do these bats typically last? shelley
The composite material that the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is made out of will give it a long life span if taken care of properly.
Frankie
My son is 5'5" inches and 110 lbs. What size bat do you recommend? ccc
For a player of his size, our bat coach would recommend the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in a 31" 20 oz. model.
Joe
My son is 152 pounds and 4 foot 9 inches, what size would you recommend? Jerry
We would recommend getting the 31 inch in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Frankie
My son is 10. He's 4' 9" and 105 lbs. What size would you recommend? I was thinking about 31"/20 oz. He is very solid and powerful for his age, and I would definitely consider him a power hitter. Also, I am torn between the MAKO or the XL3. Ashtonscott
Based on his height and weight, we would suggest a 30" bat. Keep in mind this is only a suggestion, and a 31" bat may still work for him. With him being a power hitter, I would suggest the 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) over the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK). The XL3 will have a more end-loaded feel that some power hitters prefer.
Chinyere
My son is 13 years old and weighs 115 pounds and his height is 5 foot 3. He is a contact player. Would this bat be best for him? If so, what size should I get? Would you recommend any other bats if not this bat? Dan
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is a great design for a contact style hitter. Based on his height and weight, we would suggest a 31 inch size for your son.
Patrick
What does the 2015 MAKO have that the 2014 MAKO doesn't? What is the difference? justin
The differences between the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) and the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB14MK) will be mostly cosmetic in nature. The design, materials, and performance should be very similar.
Patrick
My son is 83 lbs and is 4'8". What size should he be using? Mike
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 29" model in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Jason
I am ten years old. I am 4'9 and weigh 70-75. What size do I need for next year? Wert 123
For your height and weight we would recommend a 30" in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK). If you were looking for a bat for the 2016 year then I would bump up to a 31".
John
I am 5'4" and about 105 pounds. What size bat would you recommend? Jim
For a player of your size, our bat coach would recommend the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in a 31" 20 oz. model.
Joe
My son is 4 foot 4 inches, weighs 60 poundss and is 9 years old. What size bat do you recommend? Diane
Based on your sons height and weight we recommend getting the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in a 28 inch.
Frankie
Which bat is better, the 2015 MAKO or the 2015 S1? Ed Reed
It is ultimately going to come down to preference.
Liz
My son has an Easton S1 model YB14S1, bought last year that is 30 inches and 18 ounces. It was bought brand new. When I weigh the bat on a digital scale it weighs 20 ounces. Two ounces heavier. I weighed all the other bats we have and all are accurate to their ounces specified. Have you seen or heard of this before in a factory bat from Easton? Tony
The industry standard allows for up to 2.5 ounces of variance in either direction from the listed weight. Often, bats like the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) are weighed in the manufacturing process before things like the grip tape, graphics and sometimes even the end-cap are added. This can lead to the bat being slightly off weight.
Patrick
I am 4'9" and 100 lbs. I am 11 years old. Which size would you recommend? TJ
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 30" model in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Jason
My son is 4'7" tall and he weighs 70 lbs. What size bat do you recommend? LB
For a player of his size, our bat coach would recommend the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in a 29" 18 oz. model.
Joe
What is the difference between the Mako YB15MK and the Mako YB15MKX? Joseph
The difference between the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) and the 2015 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKX) would be the drop weight and barrel size. The MAKO XL is an ounce heavier in terms of length to weight ratio but features a slightly more extended barrel.
Patrick
What's the better bat: the Mako or Mako XL? shrek
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) and the 2015 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKX) are both great options, they just offer a difference in feel. The XL has a bit bigger sweet spot but the regular MAKO is a bit more balanced. The preference would come down to which feature you value more.
Patrick
My son is 4 foot 10 and weighs 125 pounds. what size bat do you recommend. stronger but slower movement to the ball jc
Based on height and weight, we would recommend a 30 inch size of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).

He is more of a contact, line drive, opposite field hitter. Would recommend the MAKO or MAKO XL for him? Would you suggest any other bats? LL
I would recommend a 30" 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) or a 29" 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKX).
Jake
I am 11 years old, 4'5" and 70 lbs. What size would you recommend for me? jared

Joe

We have not received an exact date as when the 2016 Easton MAKO will be released. Easton usually releases their new lines in August but like I said, we do not have the exact date.

For a player of your size and age, our bat coach would recommend the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in a 30" 19 oz. model.
Joe
My son is 8. He is 52" tall and weighs 64 lbs. What size MAKO should we get? He currently swings a -12, 29" 17 oz TPX bat. hwied
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 28" 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK). If he is already having success with a 29" TPX, then a 29" MAKO will work as well.
Jason
My son is 6. He weighs 87 lbs and is 52" tall. What size MAKO should we get? h
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 29" model in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Jason
I use a 2012 XL1. What bat would you refer to me: the 2015 MAKO or the 2015 MAKO XL? nathan
That is a matter of preference. If you like the feel of your 2012 XL1, the MAKO XL would be the better choice since it is the model that has replaced that bat. It features the same -10 drop weight and an end loaded swing weight. If you are wanting to go a balanced option, the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is the choice because it is balanced also features a lighter -11 drop weight.
Tessa
My son has been swinging a 30 inch 17 ounce Marucci the past few seasons. He is almost 5 feet tall and about 70 pounds. What size do you recommend in the Mako? Los Osos
Based on height and weight, we would recommend a 30 inch 19 ounce size of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Patrick
My son is about 4'6" and 65 lbs. He is swinging a Easton S3, 29/16. What size MAKO would you recommend for his U10 travel team? Mark
For his size we would recommend a 29" in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Allison
I am looking at the 2015 Easton MAKO, 30". What is the drop on this bat? It says 19oz., but I need a drop -11. DJ
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) has a drop -11. The drop is the length to weight ratio. For example, the MAKO is 30" and 19 oz, so the length to weight ratio is -11.
Chinyere
Would you recommend a 2015 Easton MAKO or 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ? CrazyBaseBaller
Both the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) and the 2015 Easton MAKO TORQ Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKT) would be nice choices. If the player has a tendency to roll over on the ball or not to keep their wrists in position to drive the ball, the TORQ can help them to learn to correct that. If that is not an issue, than the regular MAKO may be the better choice.
Patrick
My son just turned 9 years old. He is 4 foot 9 inches tall and weighs 89 pounds. What size bat would you recommend? Melissa
Based on height and weight, we would normally recommend a 30 inch size of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) for your player.
Patrick

I would recommend the 29" in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) for a player with his height and weight.
John
My son is turning 8. He is approximately 4'5" and weighs 60-65 lbs. What is the right size and weight? We really want to try the MAKO. Eric
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 29" 18 oz model in the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Jason
My son is 9 and will turn 10 in three months. He's 5'1" and 105 lbs. He's more of power hitter with a long swing. What size MAKO should he get and should it be the regular or the XL? JustDad41
I would suggest a 31" 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK). As far as to go with the drop -11 or -10 XL model I would have to recommend sticking with the regular drop -11. If he is in a drop -11 and his bat speed are very high then I think you can make the move to the drop -10 XL.
Jake
My son is 11. He is 5 feet tall and weighs 100 pounds. He is a big, strong boy but hits mostly to the right side. He is always making excuses about not having a good bat of his own. What size should I purchase? I want him to be able to use it next year so he probably needs a 32 inch size. What weight? Jax
Based on height and weight, we would actually recommend a 30 or 31 inch size of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK). You may be able to go with the heavier -10 2015 Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MKX).
Patrick
Is this bat legal for 2015 All Stars? Yourmom123456789
Many leagues have what they would call All Stars leagues. It would be best to check with a coach or league official to see if the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) would be allowed for play in your specific league.
Patrick
Is this bat safe to use at the batting cages? MinVikings
I would not recommend using this 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in batting cages with yellow dimpled balls. Those yellow dimpled balls are denser than baseballs and have the ability to damage the barrels walls of this bat. We generally only recommend using baseballs, wiffle balls or tennis balls with this YB15MK model.
Ben
Does the MAKO come in a 30" 17 oz.? hondo
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is a drop -11 so if you are looking for a 30" it will have a weight of 30" 19 oz. It is not available in 17 oz.
Jake
I bought a mako for my son and after hitting a bomb with it the surface cracked. Seems like it's just the paint, but it still is very hot. It actually cracked even more after swinging it but the bat still has major pop. What can I do now? It is sad because it is broken in but it has surface cracks all over it. Sick game
If you feel that the bat has become defective, the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is covered under a warranty through Easton for replacement. However, if it is just cracks to the surface and paint, and not a crack through the barrel, the bat may still be fine for use. If you notice bigger cracks or a significant decrease in performance, that may be a better indication that the bat has become defective.
Patrick
Is it a good idea to use the Mako bat at a batting cage or on a hitting machine? I have heard it isn't a good idea. scadoo
Bats like the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) can be damaged in batting cage or hitting machine situations if the yellow dimpled cage baseballs are used. If actual regulation baseballs are used, it should not be a problem to use the bat in cage practice.
Patrick
If I would get this bat would it be this orange or is it just the pic? K
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is the same color as the one in the picture.
Patrick
What's the difference between the MAKO and the MAKO XL? K
The difference between the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MK and the 2015 Easton MAKO XL is that weight distribution of the bats. The MAKO has a balanced swing weight and the MAKO XL has an end-loaded swing weight.
Cooper
How can I determine if the MAKO or the MAKO XL is right for my son? mis
Depending on what type of hitter he is will determine which model will be the right one for your son. If he is more of a power hitter than the MAKO XL would be the best bat for him due to the end loaded swing weight. However, if he is a contact hitter then the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MK would be the bat for him because of the balanced feel of the bat.
Cooper
im 14 and i have a voodoo and i love it but my dad wants me to use a mako how does it hit im 5'6 141lbs and i am a power hitter bombers baseball
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MK is an excellent option to consider. It is a very high performing bat. You might see better results from the MAKO than the Voodoo in terms of power. The MAKO has a heavier -11 length to weight ratio and the Voodoo has a lighter -13 length to weight ratio. The extra weight you will get from the MAKO could provide you with more power.
Jason
My son is almost 9. He is 4 feet tall and weighs 50 pounds. What size Mako bat would be good for him? Terra123
Based on height and weight, we would suggest a 28 inch size in a youth bat like the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK). Unfortunately, that size is not currently available for that bat.
Patrick
I am 11 years old and about 4 foot 10. What size bat should I get? Kyle
The size we would recommend of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) would be based on both height and weight. We would need both to accurately size you.
Patrick
My son is 5 foot 3 and weighs 105 pounds. What size bat should he use? Gary
Based on height and weight, we would recommend a 31 inch size of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Patrick
I am about 5 feet tall and 120 pounds. What size bat should I get? curtis123
Based on height and weight, we would recommend a 30 inch size of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Patrick
I recently asked another question but do you think it would be a good idea to get a 31 inch and grow into it to get longer use out if the bat? curtis123
The size of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) you should get would be based on your height and weight so it would be tough to say whether a 31 inch would be too big without having that information. Typically, if it is within the range that our "Bat Coach" program suggests, it should be a workable size.
Patrick
What size bat should my 9 year old son use? He is 4'8" and weighs 68 lbs. Chase
For a player of his height and weight, I would recommend going with the 29" 18 oz. model of the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MK.
Marcus

Based upon your player's height and weight, I would recommend using a 27" 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MK
John
what is the difference between the yb bat and the sl bat? rich
The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) is a "Youth" category bat meaning it has a 2 1/4 inch barrel diameter. That bat also will have a lighter length to weight ratio than the SL model or "Senior League" style which means it is a youth model with a bigger barrel diameter. For instance, the 2015 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL15MK9) has a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter. Which one is right for you would depend on what your league rules allow.
Patrick

Cameron
whats the difference between the easton mako and the easton mako xl baseball baller
The difference between the Easton MAKO and Easton MAKO XL is going to be the weight distribution in the barrels. The Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MK will feature a balanced swing weight (better for contact hitters) while the Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MKX will feature an end-loaded swing weight (better for power hitters). Other than that, both bats will be two-piece fully composite bats.
Cameron
Do you prefer this bat or the DeMarini CF7 for bigger kid? franco
Both the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MK and the DeMarini CF7 Youth Baseball Bat: DXCFL are two-piece, fully composite bats with a balanced swing weight. With that said, both bats would be a good option for a bigger kid. If you are looking for a bat to optimize a bigger kid's power potential, we would recommend going with an end-loaded bat such at the Easton MAKO XL Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MKX. The slightly smaller sweet spot will have more weight concentration than the mentioned models above and this would allow the bat to create more whip/pendulum effect on contact with the baseball; thus creating greater ability for further distance.
Cameron
what size bat do you recomend for a 13yr 135 lbs.4 1/2 ' tall thanks rhino
Based on the player's height and weight, I would recommend that he swing a 31" length. The 31" length in this Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MK would be a 20 oz. bat.
Nick

The only differences between the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MK and the 2016 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB16MK11 is the cosmetics and the fact that the 2016 model features an updated HYPERSKIN Grip which is said to reduce vibration. Other than that, they are essentially the same.
John P.
I'm a contact/power hitter and I've done well with my friend's Mako XL. I'm 12 years old and 5'7"/113 lbs. Would this bat have the ability to hit home runs? Would I have to put more strength in my swing? Jacob
Based upon your height and weight, I would recommend this Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) in a 31" length. As long as you feel you can handle the 20 oz weight of the 31" model of this bat, then that size option should be great! I think that you would be able to hit for power with this bat if you enjoy the balanced swing weight (you'll be able to get a higher swing speed and generally more swing speed = more power). I don't think you'll necessarily have to swing harder. However, if you have swung the MAKO XL in the past and felt like you did great with that bat, I might recommend looking into that bat specifically in a 31" length as well.
Ben
Is there a break in period with this bat? Also, can it be used in temps below 60 degrees? Josh
Yes, there would be a break in period with the Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat: YB15MK. Generally composite baseball bats are going to need around 150 to 200 hits on them to start performing up to their potential. When breaking in a composite baseball bat, it is important to start off at about 50% power and gradually increase as your swing count rises. It is also important to rotate the bat about a 1/4 inch on every swing. This ensures that your bat gets evenly broken in. As for the temperature, avoid using composite when it is under 70 degrees if at all possible.
Cameron
We got this bat 3 months ago and its already dead. How long does it take for the 2016 MAKO bat to lose pop? dave
Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to give an exact time period on how long this Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) should perform at its highest level. However, I think a realistic expectation would be for a couple summers of use (unfortunately, sometimes that doesn't even happen). However, this MAKO does come with a full 12 month manufacturer's warranty period on it. Since you have only had the bats for a few months, I would recommend reaching out to Easton at 888-259-1297. They should allow you to send it back to them for an inspection and warranty replacement.
Ben
I have a YB15MK bat and the end cap has started to spin. Will that impact the performance of the bat? Dan
A loose end-cap may not affect the performance, but it will most likely cause the bat to be illegal.
