Description

The Easton S1 Baseball Bat! Easton believes that every player should have the opportunity to hit for power, no matter what age or skill level. That's why they've brought back their groundbreaking Power Brigade line of bats for a second season. The concept behind the Power Brigade is simple: Help players hit for power. However, Easton realizes that different players achieve a powerful swing in different ways. That's why the Power Brigade is divided into two distinct series - the XL Series and the Speed Series. This junior big barrel bat is part of the Speed Series and focuses on building power by increasing swing speed. This is accomplished by creating a bat with the lowest Moment of Inertia (M.O.I.) of any bat on the market. Basically this means that it takes less effort to swing the bat. The S1 also features a balanced feel and an ultra-light swing weight. This one-piece design is made from Easton's game-changing IMX Composite that optimizes the sweet spot for unrivaled POWER. If you want to swing faster and generate more power, it's time to join the POWER BRIGADE! Easton: Personalize Your Power! The S1 features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by Easton's Exclusive 400 Day Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shpping!

Pros: Took about 3 weeks to get "hot."

Cons: 4, 1 inch cracks on the sweet spot and paint started to peel after using in only 2 tournaments. (3 weeks of use)

Pros:

Cons: Purchased the bat for my 11 year old. Bat cracked within 4 days of purchase. I think the issue is that the wall of the bat is much thinner than the 28/18 S1. I will be returning the bat for a different bat, most likely the 28/18 S1.

Batley Boy

Pros: Purchased a 28" 16 oz. bat for my seven year old son. Used last year's Easton S1, but bat was lighter weight and shorter length. He plays seven to eight year old Coach Pitch and has a powerful bat swing. Even though he is smaller in stature than average. The bat has lots of pop, a balanced feel, and can create lots of bat speed with it due to its light weight and balanced feel. Bat is hot out of wrapper and will get hotter with each smacked ball. Second year of happy son with ball-happy bat!

Cons: None, thus far. Did not have problems with last year's Easton S1 and do not expect problems this year.

Pros: Great bat with lots of pop! My son is 6 years old but only about 45 lbs. He is crushing balls with the 26" 14oz version of this bat. It took two weeks to really break-in. Now two other players on his coach pitch team are using his bat in games. This bat really makes a difference! Time will tell how well this bat holds up, but no issues so far.

Cons: Price.

Perfect for 8-10yrold

Pros: Crazy hot! My 8 year old was hitting normal line drives but nowhere near home runs. His first 7 hits this weekend were all to the fence!

Cons: NOTHING! If your son has a good swing but can't "thunder" the ball. SPEND THE MONEY! Way, WAY, worth it!

Pros: I bought my 8 year old this bat 27" -10 about 2 weeks ago. Right out of the store to the field the bat was amazing. This bat has lots of pop, with a huge sweet spot and was only getting better as it was getting broke in. I agree the bat has a lot of bat speed and boosted the confidence of my young 60 lbs hitter for a moment.

Cons: Durability, I read plenty of reviews outlining this problem but thought maybe I would get lucky. This bat only lasted 2 tournaments and is now dented. Must send back to Easton for replacement.

Pros: I purchased this bat for my 6 years old son. He is an advanced t-baller now very consistently hitting soft toss / soft pitch. We switched from Easton t-ball bat and during the first session with this new bat he hit 4 balls over the neighbors fence. He could NOT do that prior to switching to this bat no matter how hard he concentrated / swung. He is getting used to the bat as it is a bit longer and slightly heavier, but have to say during first session, noticed a considerable difference in how far the balls (regular baseball balls...not rubber tee balls) were going. Bat has very nice construction & feel. Looks to be well designed and manufactured.

Cons: Price. A little pricey. So, that is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Quality speaking 5 stars. Performance speaking 5 stars.

Pros: We have a 26in a new 27in and love both. This bat works great for machine pitch too. We play 7uAA and 8UA with pitch speeds up to 41mph. Much lighter than the Senior league but my son can generate just as much power due to the increased speed.

Cons: None

Great Bat for the smaller player Coach Steve Switzer coach

Pros: Looks great, lightweight and durable. Affordable. Sounds good. I would definitely recommend this as a first time coach pitch bat for a smaller player as a (-12). My son used it in 6u and part of 7u ball and passed it down to a friend that has used it for two seasons. Great bat.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton S1 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB13S1? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this a good bat for select 8u coach pitch? My son usually uses a 28-18 senior league bat. Just wondering if this will hold up because he is at the top end of the size it comes in? Mustang
Yes, the Easton S1: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel bat should be fine for your son. It is recommended for use by players age 8 and under.
Jeff
Will this hold up in kid pitch 8u/9u? MM
The Easton S1: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel is made for ages 8 years and under and for Coach Pitch Leagues only. If you are participating in kid pitch leagues you should try this bat. Easton S1: SL13S110 Senior League bat. It will feature the same technolgy and make up but will be made more durable for kid pitch use. The barrel will be 2 5/8" in diameter. This bat will require a period of break-in. 100-200 swings off of a tee or soft toss while turning the barrel slightly after each hit will work just fine.
Brandon
My son hit a -10 last season during travel ball. But I want to buy him a 2 3/4" barrel this season. What are the cons of now switching to a -12. joel
The Easton S1: JBB13S1 is designed for coach pitch players only. We would not recommend going to a -12 unless the player needs to increase their bat speed.
Kara
What is the difference between the: Easton S1: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel and the: Easton S1: JBB11S1 Junior Big Barrel? I thought it was the year, but they both say new for 2013 Basball Aunt/Fan
The Easton S1: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel is the newest model. the Easton S1: JBB11S1 Junior Big Barrel is the older version. There were no changes made to the newer model.
Kara

Tyler

Tyler
Is this a good bat for a 5 year old playing pony Shetland pitching machine? If not what bat do you recommend? Hugo
The Easton S1: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel would be a good bat for a 5 year old playing in the Pony Shetland league.
Marcus
Does this bat require a break in period to reach its full potential in a coach pitch league? Knucklehead0206
Yes, since this bat is made up of composite materials the Easton S1 Junior Big Barrel will take a break-in period.
Chad M.
Would this be a good bat for my son who is playing coach pitch and is 51" tall and weighs 75 lbs. What would be a good length and weight? Looking for good bat speed. TJ
With the height and weight given we suggest that you get the Easton S1: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel in the 28" 16 oz. size.
Chad M.
My 8 year old son who is 4'9 and weighs about 95 lbs. Is this bat a good option? He currently uses a 29 inch DeMarini, but his coach has suggested he go down to a 28 inch. jonsmom
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 29" to a 30" bat. A 28" will be too short for his size. The Easton S1: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel is designed for coach pitch only and the largest size available is a 28". The Easton S1: SL13S110 Senior League would be a better option. It can be used in coach pitch or kid pitch.
Kara
Do they make this bat in a 29/17 Dad
The Easton S1 JBB13S1 is not made in the 29" 17 oz. size.
Sean
My son plays 9U kid pitch. He weighs about 62 lbs. and about 4' 2". He currently swings a 27" 17 oz., but was told is was a little heavy by his coach. Bell
The Easton S1: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel is intended for Coach Pitch only, and would be more susceptible to cracks and dents if used in Kid Pitch. The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst: SL13C Senior League is intended for use in kid pitch and comes in a 27" 15 oz.
Katie
The Easton S1: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel is intended for Coach Pitch only, and would be more susceptible to cracks and dents if used in Kid Pitch. The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst: SL13C Senior League is intended for use in kid pitch and comes in a 27" 15 oz.
Katie

The Easton S1 Junior Big Barrel is a great coach pitch bat. We would recommend a 28" 16 oz. size for this height and weight.
Damon
My son is 7 years old, 4'2"and 58 lbs., what size do you recommend? YOYO

Katie

Is there a 2014 XL1 Easton bat? Joe
There will be a 2014 Easton XL1: Senior League bat. There will not be a 2014 Easton XL1 Junior Big Barrel.
Kara
Is the EastonS1 available with 2 1/4" barrel? RP
Yes, Easton does produce the S1 in a 2 1/4" barrel. The model for the youth S1 is YB13S1.
John
Is this bat approved for Pinto Division Pony League play? Big Man Bob
The Easton S1 Baseball Bat: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel is not approved in Pinto Division Pony League.
Kara
Hi, is there Big barrel 27' bat with a weight of under 14 oz / 13 oz / 12 oz ? this bat is for my son he is 9 yrs old and just under average size for a 9 yr old... yankees
The largest length to weight ratio that Junior Big Barrel are produced in is a -12, like this Easton S1 Baseball Bat: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel. So the 27" 15 oz. model would be the lightest we carry for a 27" model. You could consider going down an inch to help increase his swing speed, which I am sure is still on his recommend size range from Bat Coach.
Mac
What is the difference between the model JBB13S1 and the JBB11S1? Is the JBB11S1 going to be back in stock? Jim
The Easton S1 Baseball Bat: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel is the 2013 model while the JBB11S1 is the 2012 model. They both contain the IMX Composite material and have a balanced swing weight. Unfortunately, because both models are discontinued, we do not expect to add any more back into inventory.
Mac
We are in a new league and can't use T-ball bats. This bat looks perfect, but I want to be sure it is not a T-ball bat even if we go with the lightest and shortest size. Joe
The Easton S1 Baseball Bat: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel is a coach pitch bat. It has no T-ball certification anywhere on the bat.
Noah
What is the break-in period for this bat? Joe
The Easton S1 Baseball Bat: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel is going to take a break-in period of 150-200 soft toss swings, rotating the barrel a 1/4" each swing.
Noah
I have a 12 year old who weighs about 90 lbs. What size composite big barrel suggested probably about 5 ft or a little taller? meme
The Easton S1 Junior Big Barrel bat is designed for Coach Pitch play. A 12 year old would need to look at a Senior League model which is designed for actual kid pitch. Our charts are suggesting a 30" would be ideal for your height and weight.
John
Is the 2013 S1 26" a big barrel? Are they allowed in USSSA 7 year old travel ball? kevin
THe Easton S1 baseball bat: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel has a 2 3/4" barrel. It is legal for USSSA in coach pitch.
Kara
What is the difference in junior big barrel and the senior barrel? Can the Easton S1 withstand kid pitch at an 8u level? big e
The Easton S1 Baseball Bat: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel, like all junior big barrel bats, is designed for coach pitch and tee ball. Junior big barrel bats will not hold up against kid pitch. Senior league bats are designed to hold up against kid pitch.
Jason
Is this bat Dixie Youth approved? lukesmom
No. The Easton S1 Baseball Bat: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel has a 2 3/4" barrel which is not allowed at any level in Dixie Youth Baseball.
Damon
Is this bat legal for coach pitch in Little League? Greg
The Easton S1 Baseball Bat: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel has a 2 3/4" barrel diameter which is not approved in any division of Little League Baseball. It really depends on your particular division, but most require 2 1/4" barrel diameters which can be found on "Youth" models: http://www.justbats.com/products/baseball%20bats~youth/
Mac
Will it withstand a machine pitch league? DH
The Easton S1 Baseball Bat: (JBB13S1) Junior Big Barrel might hold up in a machine pitch league. But the barrel walls of the Junior Big Barrel models are designed for Coach Pitch and pitch speeds that do not exceed 40 mph. If the bat is used to hit pitches around or great than 40 mph, durability will be compromised.
Mac
My son is 7 yrs old and in his league they no longer do machine pitch, they now have kids pitching (fast ball). He has great eye coordination but he lacks the power. He previously used a Miken bat, big barrel. I'm looking for a long, big barrel and light bat. Would this be a good bat for him? Jose
The Easton S1 Baseball Bat (JBB13S1) is designed for coach pitch only. The thinner walls can be damaged when used during kid pitch. We recommend the 2014 Easton S1 (SL14S110).
Kara
My son is a small 7 yr old, 45" and 39 lbs. He used a 25"15 oz. tee ball bat last year, but this year he was told he could not use a tee ball bat. Do you recommend the 26" or 28" size bat? Landon
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 27" 15 oz. Easton S1 Baseball Bat (JBB13S1).
Kara
I have a 7 year old that is 52" tall and 64 lbs. What size bat should I look for? DPB
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 27" model in the Easton S1 Baseball Bat (JBB13S1) Junior Big Barrel.
Jason
7 yr old 52" 64 lbs playing machine pitch - need length and width. Thanks dpb
Based on their height and weight, we recommend a 28" 26 oz. Easton S1 Baseball Bat (JBB13S1). We are currently sold out of that particular model, however, a bat that would be comparable would be the 2014 Easton MAKO (JBB14MK). You can find that here: http://goo.gl/SjE4lP
Tessa L.
My son is 5 years old 45 inches tall and 53 lbs. He is playing spring loaded pitching machine this year. What is a good bat fro him right now he has a 25" 13 oz he used in coach pitch. Mike
The Easton S1 Baseball Bat (JBB13S1) Junior Big Barrel would be a great bat to transition to machine pitch with. I would recommend going with that 26" 14oz this year.
Jackson
My son is turning 6 later this month, playing his first year of coach pitch. He's about 43 inches and 40 pounds. I'm debating between the 26" 14 oz. and 27" 15 oz.? Just worried about the 2 3/4" being a bit top heavy in the 27". Thanks! jth
If this is his first year in coach pitch we recommend the lighter, 26" 14 oz. Easton S1 Baseball Bat (JBB13S1).
Kara
My son is 7 years old and 47.5 inches tall but only weighs 44 lbs. What size bat do you recommend for coach pitch? DardenBoys
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 27" Easton S1 Baseball Bat (JBB13S1).
Kara
My son is almost 9 and getting ready to start his first year of actual pitching instead of coach pitch. He's about 4 foot 6 inches tall, but only weighs 60 pounds. He's not very strong and I am looking for a quality bat that can help him generate good bat speed. glp99
The Easton Speed Series and specifically the Easton S1 is a great option for helping a player generate bat speed. However, the model you are looking at is intended for coach pitch style play. The pitch speeds in kid pitch level of play would cause structural damage to this bat. You would want to look into either the Youth model (YB14S1) or the Senior League model (SL14S110) depending on the barrel size allowed in your league. .
Patrick
I am about 50 inches tall and 50 pounds. Which bat size should I get for the Easton S1: 27/15 or 28/16? jek425
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 28" 16 oz model in the Easton S1 Baseball Bat (JBB13S1) Junior Big Barrel.,
Jason
My son is playing machine pitch on a 6 year old rookie team. He weighs 43 pounds and is about 41 inches tall. What size bat should he get? Is this a good bat for him? warner
The Easton S1 Baseball Bat (JBB13S1) Junior Big Barrel bat is a great option for your player. Based on his height and weight, we would suggest the 26 inch size.
Patrick
My daughter is almost 7 yrs old, 80 lbs (NO fat), 4' 4". She hits consistently with a 26", 16 oz, 2 1/4 barrel bat. I'd like a 2 5/8" junior big barrel (Pony legal) with lots of "pop" for her. I tried a 28" wood bat, she could hit, but it was too heavy. (That bat doesn't have the weight marked on it.) Eric
This Easton S1 (JBB13S1) would a great choice for her. Its well balanced swing weight will allow her to generate a fast bat speed.
Bobby
My son is 7 years old and plays rec ball. He weighs about 45lbs and is 45" tall. He has a great swing, but the bat he has is cheap and has no response when he hits with it. Which bat would you recommend? Thanks. dfw219
Easton makes some of the more popular bats in the Junior BIg Barrel size. Namely, the Easton XL3: JBB13X3 Junior Big Barrel, the Easton S1 Baseball Bat: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel, and the 2014 Easton MAKO: JBB14MK Junior Big Barrel. Any of those bats would be great.
Kyle J.
I have a 31 inch 20 oz S1 big barrel. Can I use it in Babe Ruth baseball? "ROCKET" Jake
This Easton S1 Baseball Bat (JBB13S1) Junior Big Barrel bat is not approved in any division of Babe Ruth baseball because it has a composite barrel and one that is 2 3/4" barrel diameter. Babe Ruth allows a maximum barrel diameter of 2 5/8". And any big barrel bat that features a composite barrel must feature the BBCOR performance certification mark which neither this bat or the Senior League model feature.
Mac
Is the S1 Junior Big Barrel available in 26" long? ballcoach
The Easton S1 Junior Big Barrel (JBB13S1) was produced in a 26". At this time (7/11/2014) we do not have this size in stock.
John
Looking to purchase the S1 Easton Junior bat. My sons used the 2013 model. Looking to purchase the new model (2014). Is there a difference in the bat besides the graphics? Ash
The 2014 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB14MK) would be the model that replaced this Easton S1 Baseball Bat Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB13S1). Aside from the color scheme, the bat is made from the same materials and features the same specs.
Mac
How do I order a 30 inch bat? jaki
We do run a live inventory on the web site, so we regrettably only have the 25" model in stock. This Easton S1 Baseball Bat Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB13S1) actually was not produced in the 30" size. For a 30" version of the S1, that features a big barrel, the (SL15S110) would be the one option we have in stock.
Mac
What bat size does this come in? lo lo
The only size we have available for the Easton S1 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB13S1) is the 25" 13 oz. Unfortunately this bat is discontinued, so we will not be getting any more in stock.
Liz
Hi. My son needs a 28" bat. He already has this same model in a 27" and a 29". Would you recommend staying with the S1 or going to a MAKO? Colette
The Easton S1 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB13S1) is going to be very similar to the 2015 Easton MAKO Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB15MKB). Both bats feature a similar grade composite as well as a well-balanced swing weight. The largest difference between the two is that the Mako has a longer barrel, which will result in a larger sweet spot. If you have experienced good results with the S1, we would recommend staying with it.
Joe
Do you have available the Easton S1 in 27, 28, or 29 inches? Theresa
The largest size that the Easton S1 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB13S1) is produced in is a 27". Unfortunately we have sold out of all sizes but the 25" 13 oz.
John
I have a 6 yr old 48 inch tall 50lbs boy. He is using a 25" 15 oz. 2 1/4" Easton bat. He has good swing mechanics but doesnt have good pop. Can the bigger barrel and lighter bat help increase his distance? big ab
The Easton Speed Series and specifically the Easton S1 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (JBB13S1) is a great option for helping a player generate bat speed. The S1 is a very light one-piece composite designed bat with a balanced swing weight.
