Description

Easton truly believes that every player should have the opportunity to hit for power. However, the road to power hitting is different for every player. Some players need extra bat speed to reach their full power potential, while others need more weight and a bigger barrel. That's why Easton is changing the game this season and taking an approach to bats that no other manufacturer has ever tried before. Introducing the POWER Brigade; Two series, one distinct result. Whether you prefer the fast swinging Speed Series or the heavier extended barrel XL Series, POWER will be your outcome. Forget flashy designs and gimmicky names, these bats produce RESULTS. The Speed Series (S1, S2, S3) features the lowest Moment of Inertia (M.O.I.) on the market to create light swing weights and generate more power. On the other side of the spectrum, the XL Series (XL1, XL2, XL3) features extra long barrels designed to give players expanded hitting zones and more mass in the barrel, generating more power in every swing. Easton really does strive to fulfill the preferences of any type of player as both series come in two-piece IMX Composite designs (S1 and XL1), two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Aluminum hybrid designs (S2 and XL2), and one-piece THT100 Aluminum designs (S3 and XL3). As for the materials, Easton's patented IMX Composite has proven to be one of the highest performing materials in the game year after year, while THT100 Aluminum provides superior dent and crack resistance. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology and you have a new line of bats that is second to none. Easton: We Believe In Power! This bat is approved for play in all major youth associations. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: WE just bought this bat for my son who is going into traveling leagues this year and I was VERY hesitant to spend that much on a bat but I have to admit that it is really something to see the difference in how the ball comes off the bat and the feel of it when hitting is crazy comfortable. I played baseball all my life growing up and the bat now are so awesome. The ball just leaps off this bat and NO sting at all. My son loves it and the -13 drop really lets him get it around fast. GREAT BAT!

Cons: None...a bit spendy but worth it.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat: YB11S2? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

How is this bat different than last year's youth -13 Surge? Ranger
The S2 will have a slightly lower MOI than the Surge. A lower MOI means the S2 will have a lighter swing weight and is a great choice for players looking to increase their swing speed.
TJ
Please compare/contrast the 2012 Easton S2 28(-13) two piece hybrid to 2011 Easton Rival 28(-13) one piece aluminum. This is for U10/4th grade small physical stature kids who are primarily good contact hitters (middle and gap hits for singles mostly); these kids rarely walk or strike out. Thanks. Tonto
Generally speaking a 1 piece bat is preferred by a power hitter, or consistant hitter. 2 piece bats are generally attractive to smaller player that want that extra whip of the 2 piece for a little extra power.
Linda
My son has the cf4 now,he has lots of power. Will the s2 add to his power since it has greater bat speeds? pepper
It very well could. The S2 has the low moi so it swings lighter, giving you more power.
Linda
How does this back compare to the Omen? Does it have the XL barrel? Inyo
The Omen is a 2 piece like this one, the only difference is the S2 has an alloy barrel where the Omen has a composite handle/alloy barrel.
Linda
How does this bat compare to the 2012 Vodoo? Updating my 10 yr old son's current bat -'09 Vodoo and am considering the S2 29/16. Rob
The S2 is going to be very similar to the Voodoo. The S2 will be a little lighter than the Voodoo. It's designed for a little quicker bat speed.
Kara
Would you recommend the Easton S2 over the DeMarini voodoo dxvdl and CF 5 for a 4'6" 80 lb line drive hitter stepping up to 30" bat? Tony
They are all great models, the S2 is going to be a little more stiff compared to the Voodoo.
Jim
IS THE EASTON S2 LEGAL FOR LITTLE LEAGUE? STALLY
Yes. The S2 is legal for Little League play.
TJ
Is this bat legal in Little League play for 2012? I didn't see anything on it. On the bat it says legal in Little League for 2011. CKMack
This bat is legal for 2012 also.
Linda
My son is 7 years old playing in an 8U travel league. He is 52" tall and about 64 lbs. He is a consistent hitter with medium bat speed. Which Power Brigade would you recommend? Baseball Mom
This one, the S2 would be a great match for him.
Linda
is the s2 worth the price? or buy s1 and get smaller bat herb
That is really just a personal preference, I like the flex on the S2 and it also has quite a bit of pop
John
I am stuck between choosing the LS Vertex and the Easton S2 (28/15), My son plays for a traveling 8u team in a very good league. He is 49" and weighs about 45lbs. Trey
Both are going to be similar in performance. The S2 is going to be lighter for quicker bat speed.
K.B.
Son is U10, and small with great bat speed and power for a kid his size. Is this bat approved for play in Majors of Little League (Babe Ruth)? Looking to reduce sting, is the S2 any better than the S3 wrt reducing sting? pc
Yes, it is approved for Majors of Little League.
Kara
My son is 10yrs old and smaller in size with slower bat speed. I'm debating between the S2 29/16 and the XL2 29/18. What would you recommend? Thanks! Jim
The Speed series may be more beneficial to a small player. The S2 is made to provide more control, and balance to maximize bat speed.
Shelbe
First is it approved for dixie youth? What is the biggest diference between the s1 and s2, besides one is a two piece all composite.Which has more pop my kid is small for his age. shannon
This bat is approved for Dixie League play. As far as the S1 and S2, the main difference is the composition of the barrel. Both will have good pop, it's just a matter of what you like best for aluminum vs. composite. They are both top of the line Easton bats!
Robb
My son is playing 9U federation ball. Would you recommend the Easton S1,S2 or S3? I prefer a -10 drop and believe that the S3 is the only one that offers a -10. Mitchell
None of the new Speed Series youth modeles come in a -10, they only come in a -13. You will have to look at the XL Series 1,2,3. These do come in a -10
Ryan
Does this bat need to be broken in jk
This bat will not need a break in period due to the alloy barrel. Alloy barrel bats come game ready out of the wrapper.
KG
Hello, which bat do you suggest for my 8 yr old son, the S2 or the Voodoo? Which one has the lighter, quicker swing? Which one more pop off the bat? Is there one better than the other in your opinion? Thanks! GE
The S2 is slightly lighter and quicker. However, both are high performing.
KB
WILL THIS BAT BE LEGAL FOR 2013? DON'T WANT TO SPEND MONEY FOR ONE YEAR OF USE. BO
To the best of our knowledge, the S2 will be approved for for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and USSSA in 2012 and 2013.
Kara
What is the difference in the Easton S1 and the S2 bat? My 9 year old son is small for age weighs 46 lbs has good bat speed. komodo
Both bats will be a two piece design. The main difference would be that the S1 is going to have a composite barrel and the S2 will have an alloy barrel.
John
My son is 9 years old 5'tall and weighs 90 lbs. He has the BGS10XL 30in which dose not have the 1.15 finger print. I am interested in the S2 to help him with his bat speed. But dont want him giving up his power. Would this be the bat for him? Bose
You would not be sacrificing any of his power with the S2. The S2 is a great choice for a hitter that is focusing on bat speed and control.
Shelbe
Does the S2 need to be broken in? Rano
It has a composite handle and alloy barrel. It doesn't need to be broken in as much as a full composite bat, but it wouldn't hurt to take 100 or so hits off a batting tee with it.
Tyler
My son is 11 yrs old and about 110lbs. He currently swings an SV12 30" 17oz 2 1/4 barrel. He has alot of bat speed and smokes the ball with it. We are looking at getting him a big barrel bat and was wondering is the S2 would be the same feel as his SV12? Erick
The S2 is going to feel similar to the SV12. However, the big barrel only comes in a 30" 20oz.
KB
Is this bat certified for play in little league play for 2012? g-dog
Yes. The S2 has an alloy barrel and is approved for Little League play in 2012.
Tyler
My son currently uses an Easton Stealth CNT LST9 -13 it's a great bat for him but it's a few years old and would like to update his equipment. Would the S2 or S3 be a better replacement? Will there be much difference in power or swing speed? Thank You Mike
Compared to the LST9, the S2 will be the closest comparable option. Like the LST9, the S2 has an alloy barrel and composite handle. The S2 is also a very, very well balanced bat and he will not have a problem maintaining the same swing speed.
Tyler
Debating on the Combat Grifter or the S2. Son is a small size 12 year old, 70lb, 4'7, but has a sick swing. He consistently gets hits, just they don't go far with his old all alloy Nike a 29 16.5. Which would you recommend? And What size? tstyron
Based off of his height and weight, I would suggest a 29 inch bat. Both of these bats are great bats and are very similar. They are both two piece hybrid designs and will perform just about the same. You can't really go wrong with either!
Jennifer
I am having trouble deciding which bat to purchase for my son this year. He is 9 yrs old, 92lbs & 55" tall. He is not a big home run hitter, but usually gets a base hit. I was thinking about purchasing an Easton XL series, but several people have recommended the Speed series. How do I know which one is right for my son? Any suggestions? Need help! Angie
With the description you have given me of your son, it would sound like the S2 would be more tailored for his swing. The Speed series has been designed specifically for the line drive, or base hitters. The technology for this bat was designed to transition swing speed into power. Here is the link for the S2 so you can read a little more about it.
Derek
Returned the S1 because it was of the long barrel. Tough to get around. Does S2 have same barrel? Sean
The size of the barrel for each bats will be the same, yes. However, the material is different. The S1 has a composite barrel, while the S2 has an alloy barrel.
Jennifer
Considering the s2 and the Xl 2 my son is 9 yr old 55 inches tall 75lbs great bat speed good power fair mechanics what would be your choice between these two bats? chris
If he has above average bat speed and strength, the XL2 may be a better choice as it is geared towards players with these attributes.
Tyler
My son is 10. He is a lead-off hitter. He always hits the ball up the middle. Is the Easton S2 or S3 better for him? Kuhner
If he is more of a power hitter, the S3 would be a great choice for him. This bat is going to be pretty stiff and will him generate more power. If he is more of a contact hitter, the S2 would better suit his needs since it is a two piece design. Most contact hitters prefer the flex offered in a two piece design and perform better with these.
Jennifer
I am thinking about getting the S2 or the DeMarini Voodoo. Which one should I get? I bat third in the lineup and almost always pull the ball. S2 or Voodoo? luke
Both of these bats are great bats. They will perform just about the same since they are both alloy barrel/composite handle bats. You can't really go wrong with either one!
Jennifer
Does it have good pop? Aiden
The S2 has great pop for a two piece bat.
KB
Looking for a bat 12 yr old, 5'3, 110 lbs. Not sure about the difference in the S1 S2 and S3 series. He has swung an S2 and liked it. He needs a 31 would like a 31/20. Is that possible? Hollywood JP
The S1 is a two piece bat with that is 100% composite. The S2 is a two piece bat with an alloy barrel and composite handle. The S3 is a one piece bat that is 100% alloy. Unfortunately, none of these bats are produced in a 31 inch 20 ounce model. The closest option out of these three bats would be the 31 inch 19 ounce S1.
Tyler
What is the difference between the S2 and the S3? bbmom
The S2 is a two piece bat. This bat has an alloy barrel and a composite handle. The S3 is a one piece aluminum bat.
Jennifer
Which bat do you suggest for my 11 yr old who is playing travel ball? The S1 or S2, he needs a 31in. Jeanie
Both the Easton S1 and the Easton S2 would be fantastic options. The main difference between the two bats, is the Easton S1 is a two-piece fully composite bat, whereas the S2 is a two-piece hybrid (composite handle/aluminum barrel). http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Tom
My son experiences stinging of the hands when hitting. Really am considering investing in a good little league bat but unsure of what to get. He's 10 and has been playing travel since he was 7 yrs old. Snook
If you are looking to reduce sting, I would look at any two-piece bat with an alloy barrel and a composite handle, like the Easton S2. Bats made like this will help eliminate some of the sting that one-piece bats give when the ball is hit.
Jennifer
My son currently uses a Easton LCN11. It is 31/18. He likes the pop of the composite. He is a contact hitter. I noticed the S1 (all composite) is 31/19, while the S2 (hybrid) is 31/18. I am worried the S1 may be too heavy, while S2 is not all composite. Which do you suggest is more comparable to the LCN11? Dave.
If your son is currently using a 31/18, it is usually recommended to move up an ounce or two every time you buy a new bat. Between the S1 and the S2, the S1 is probably most like the LCN11. Both of these bats have composite barrels and should perform just about the same.
Jennifer
Today you suggested the S2. So if my son is 10 yrs old, 91 lbs, and 54" and is currently hitting a 30/19, what size would you suggest, the 32/19 or the 31/18 (not a home run hitter-consistent line drives with good bat speed)? JP
If he is currently using a 30 inch 19 ounce bat, I would recommend the S2 in a 32 inch 19 ounce model. I wouldn't recommend taking a step back in terms of weight.
Tyler
How does this bat handle the cold weather being it has a composite handle (does it need a sleeve)? My son plays sometimes when it is in the low 40's. JP
Most manufacturers recommend you limit how much your bat is used when it is below 60 or 55 degrees. This doesn't mean you can't use it when it's that cold, but you just need to be more careful and limit its usage. The cold weather really affects the core of the baseballs opposed to the bat itself. Bat sleeves offer little protection, but if you have one, you can use it. The S2 is known to be a pretty durable bat and holds up well in cooler weather.
Tyler
Does the S2 make the ping sound? out of the park
The Easton S2 does in fact make a "ping" sound since it has an alloy barrel. All alloy barrels will typically make the same "ping" sound.
Jennifer
Can I use this bat for my son's league that uses a pitching machine? batterup
Yes, the Easton S2 can be used in machine pitch leagues.
Kara
Is the barrel "sweet spot" and barrel length on the S2 30/17 the same as th S1 30/18? Fence
Yes. Both will have similar sweetspots and barrel lengths.
Tyler
Is it approved for Cal Ripken baseball use? Evans
The Easton S2 is approved for Cal Ripken.
Kara
Is the S2 approved for Little League? danlig
The Easton S2 is approved for Little League play.
Nick
Why is there yellow tape at the bottom? Big Boy8
The grip on the Easton S2 is mainly black, but the bottom part of the grip, near the knob, is colored yellow. The grip is one piece and does not have any tape.
Nick K.
Which bat is better all around the Easton S1 or the Easton S2? lucas
The Easton S1 is a two-piece fully composite bat and the Easton S2 is a two-piece hybrid (composite handle/aluminum barrel). Both bats will be very high performing. Here is a link to further compare the two bats. http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Tom
Is the weight balanced, which gives the feeling of a lighter bat? JT
Yes. The Easton S2 will be a very balanced bat. It is a two-piece model with an alloy barrel and a composite handle.
Damon
What is the difference between the S2 and the Surge XXL model LGS1XL -13? marka
The Easton S2 is more balanced than the Easton Surge XXL. Both are two-piece bats with an alloy barrel and composite handle.
Kara
I am 10 years old. About 4 foot 9 inches and around 75 lbs. Which bat would you recommend? bigger d
The Easton S2 is a great choice. It's very balanced, good for a player who needs to increase their bat speed.
Kara
I just got a S2 the other day. Is it common for it to sound like wood. When I hold the barrel and hit it on the concrete it sounds like wood. Is this common? dekorzen
If you are tapping the end of the handle on the ground it would sound like a wood bat. When you are hitting with it, it should not sound like wood, it should sound like an aluminum.
Tom
My 7 year old is smaller for his age, 46" and 50 lbs. He has avg swing speed, great contact hitter, machine pitch. He has been using a 27" 16oz. aluminum bat for the past year. I'm looking into the S2 28"15oz or the S1 28"16oz. Suggestions on which one? DH
Both would be great choices for their balanced swing weights. If he's been using an alloy bat, a transition to the S2 may be easier on him, as it has an alloy barrel with composite handle. I say this because so much of hitting is psychological, and it's always recommend that a player stick with the same type or brand of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, they're much more likely to have continued success at the plate.
Tyler
My son is using the Omaha TPX 30in 18oz bat. He is 10 years old 4'9" 75lbs. The TPX seams heavy for him. I am considering the Easton S2 30in 17oz. Do you think that would be the right lengh and weight? Bigpapa2x
Based on your son's height, weight, and info about his current bat, a 30" 17 oz. S2 would be the best fit. The S2 has a balanced swing weight which your son should have success with.
Tyler
I used this bat last year and hit very well but I am turning in to a power hitter. Should I stick with this bat or go to the XL2? HBC
We recommend to stick with the bat that you have had success with. Stay with the S2 because that will help to increase bat speed which results in more power.
Tom
My son currently hits with the S2 at 30"x17oz. When moving up to the 31"x18oz, do you gain the extra 1" length in the hittable barrel (above the CXN), or in the handle, or some combination of both? hammerhead dad
A 31" bat compared to a 30" bat will have a barrel and handle that are each approximately 1/2" longer.
Tyler
Is this bat better than the S1? sam
The Easton S1 is Eastons top of the line bat. The composite barrel will require a break-in period, while the Easton S2 will not, but after the Easton S1 is broken in it will be hotter longer than the Easton S2.
Noah
Does the Easton S2 Youth (30"/-13)bat have the same balance as the Easton Surge? Is the S2 the new 2013 version of the Surge? If so, what are the differences? Thanks! Pete
The Easton S2: YB11S2 replaced the Surge. The two differences are the the Easton S2 is more balanced and it uses upgraded composite materials in the handle for better durability.
Kara
Is the Easton S2 YB11S2 Youth bat approved for Dixie Youth for 2013? The only date I saw on it was 2011. s
The Easton S2: YB11S2 Youth is approved for 2013 Dixie Youth play.
