2015 S2 Big Barrel (2-5/8) Dented in Only One Week Dewey D coach

Pros: Good pop, quick bat through the zone.

Cons: Barrell dented in only the second game used by my son. I had the bat only 7 days. Was used in warm weather (Arizona), so temperature was not an issue. I have been a long time Easton supporter with no previous problems, but this is very dissapointing.

great bat for what i need it to be Rocketboy parent

Pros: Because of the bats -13 drop, the bat speed is increased to where i really was hoping for my 7 year old. Being able to get a longer bat down to 15 oz was a hope for me to see if my son would increase his bat speed and this bat has done this. allows smaller child to get a shorter swing to the ball which was my hope intead if the loopy one with his 28/18 torq. and 27/17 big barrel s1.

Cons: not really a con that is the bats issue, but due to the lack of weight in the 28/15, we sacrificed some pop, but he hits everything now and thing i feel is due to the speed hes getting.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat: YB15S2? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

How does this alloy compare to the alloy in the S2Z? AWESOME kid
The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) features the Hyperlite Matrix Alloy in its barrel which is also used in the barrel of the S2Z BBCOR model.
Mac
Is the sweet spot bigger than last year's S2? AWESOME kid
The sweet spot has not been extended in the barrel of the 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) from the 2014 S2 Youth. The extended barrel technology is only found in the S2Z BBCOR model.
Mac
Will there be a 2015 S1 released? My son is 7 years old and weighs 50 lbs. I bought a MAKO 28" 17 oz. and it is too heavy for him for right now. I'm looking for a lighter bat with similar performance. Any suggestions? Brave
Yes, the 2015 Easton S1 Composite Youth Bat (YB15S1) is available right now. Here is a link to that mdoel (http://goo.gl/6RPdc8). The smallest size available is a 28" 16 oz., so it will feel lighter than the MAKO as well. There is a chance that the new S1 would be a great option for your son. It will just depend on him and how heavy the 28" 17 oz. MAKO feels compared to the S1. Both models feature a two-piece fully composite design, so they will feel similar with the exception that the S1 does not feature an extended barrel and will also be an ounce lighter.
Tessa
What is the difference between the S 1-3 and MAKO bats? My son is on the smaller side for his age and needs a lighter bat that's not barrel heavy. qtipa
The difference in the MAKO and the S-Series bats is the design and materials used. Here is how they rank in Easton's order of best available. MAKO, S1, S2, S3, S4. The MAKO and S1 are full composites, while the S2 is a half and half. The S3 and S4 will be full alloy designs. All will be balanced and not barrel heavy.
Brandon
Do you think the 28 inch 15 ounce would be too big for my 7 year old? He is 47 inches tall and about 53 pounds. He is using a 27 inch 15 ounce Easton S300 right now. How does this bat compare to that? Nick
The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) will have a slightly lighter length to weight ratio than on the 2014 Easton S300 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S300) and will feature a higher quality and more durable alloy. The size should be a logical shift from what he has.
Patrick
Is there a significant difference between the 2015 S2 and the 2014 S2? I own a 28 inch 15 ounce 2014 S2 and I want to know if there is a reason for me to purchase a 2015? Jordy
The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) and the 2014 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14S2) will be similar in balance and performance but the enhanced alloy on the newer model will be more durable and allow for a more expanded sweet spot.
Patrick
Is the Easton S2 Youth bat available in a 27"? AK
No, the 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) is not created in the 27" size from Easton. Their direct number is 1-888-259-1297 if you would like to check with them.
Brandon
On the Easton website they have a 32 inch size available for the S2. Can you get that length? My son will be 11 for the 2015 season and is literally a hair under 5 feet and weighs 129 pounds. My worry is that with one growth spurt he'll be 5 foot 1 and require a 32 inch bat. EDP
We, unfortunately, will not have the 32 inch size of the 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2). Based on his weight, at the height of either 5 feet or 5 feet 1 inches, we would still think a 31 inch size would be appropriate for a player of his size. It would not be that growing an inch would require him to move to a bigger bat necessarily.
Patrick
My small 8 year old who is 4 foot 1 and weighs 50 pounds, hit with a Louisville Slugger Omaha 27 inch 14 ounce bat last year. It had good speed, plenty of contact, but not a ton of power. I want to move him up to a 28 inch bat, or to a heavier 27 inch, but there doesn't seem to be many options in 27 inch bats. I am looking to go up without sacrificing speed as he is starting kid-pitch this year. Is the 28 inch S2 or the Combat Portent 28 inch too much of a jump, or not enough? He is a lead-off contact type hitter. D
The -13 length to weight ratio on the 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) would make it a logical progression for him in a 28 inch size. He should be able to adjust to that well and maintain good speed. If you are referring to the -10 COMBAT Portent Youth Baseball Bat (PORYB110) in a 28 inch, I would say that would be a much larger adjustment and would be more difficult as it would be a 4 ounce increase in weight. We do not currently have the 28 inch version of the -12 model of that bat in stock.
Patrick
My son is 9 years old playing Minor League. He weighs about 50 lbs and about 4'1". Hes a great hitter just doesn't have the muscle to get behind the swing. Is this a good bat for him? G bat
The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) is a great bat for a contact hitter. It is a balanced bat which will give him more control and a quicker swing speed.
Allison
We are considering the 2015 S2 over the 2014. Some say the sweet spot is extended and some say it is the same? My son rips with the 2013 model. Please advise. scott
The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat: (YB15S2) will have added strength and durability due to its brand new Hyperlite Matrix alloy. The barrel will be similar to the previous year barrel. If your son loved the 2013 model, he will definitely love the all new 2015 S2 Youth.
Brandon
Are the barrels of the S2 and S3 the same? presto
The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) and the 2015 Easton S3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S3) both feature the Hyperlite Matrix Alloy barrel construction. You will see a slight difference in the taper on the barrels due to the one-piece and two-piece construction of the bats respectively. However, this will not contribute to the performance of the bats. The hybrid design of the S2 does generally result in faster bat speed due to the additional flex generated through the zone.
Joe
Which bat has bigger sweet spot: the COMBAT Portent or the Easton S2? Baseball Mom
The COMBAT Portent Youth Baseball Bat (PORYB112) has an extended barrel, therefore, it has a bigger sweet spot than the 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2).
Allison
How is the vibration in this model? Is this bat more for power hitters or contact hitters? I've got twin 9 year olds, one has power to spare and one is a contact hitter who lacks the pop of his brother, trying to find a bat that would fit both of them. Thank you. Dad2Twins
The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) is a two-piece balanced bat with more flex, which would be preferred by contact hitters. Also, the ConneXion technology in the bat helps eliminate vibration within the bat.
Chinyere
Does the 2015 S2 need to be broken in or is it tournament ready right out of the box? Lil Leo#29
The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) features an alloy barrel that will not require any type of break-in. It will be hot out of the wrapper.
Patrick
Does the 2015 S2 have a composite barrel? Composite Barrel
The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) has an alloy barrel.
Allison
My 10 yr old has been using an end-loaded VooDoo. He is more of a contact hitter and I'm looking for a bat with more balance. The S2 is the same weight & hybrid design as the VooDoo, but is it an end-loaded bat as well? Guapo
The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) is going to be a more balanced bat than the DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL).
Liz
My 10 year old son is 4 foot 7 inches tall and weighs 75 pounds. What size in the Easton S2 do you recommend? Brad
Based on his height and weight we would suggest getting the 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) in a 29 inch.
Frankie
Will hitting in cold temperatures damage this bat? If so, what temperature is considered too cold to use? Karen
We would not recommend hitting with the 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) in any temperatures below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. The baseballs will actually become more dense in colder temperatures and the bat is more likely to crack or dent.
Joe
My son just turned 7 and he is an above average hitter. I got him a Combat Wanted this year. I was wondering which would be a better bat? Rb
The COMBAT Wanted Youth Baseball Bat (WANYB112) is a very nice bat. I would not say that there is simply a model that we would say is better than it. The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) you asked about is also nice but would just be a bit different since it has an alloy barrel versus the composite on the Wanted.
Patrick
Is there any way to tell if a hybrid bat such as this (composite handle with aluminum barrel) model has gone dead? Is that even possible? smitty2
The best way to see if a problem with a bat like the 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) has caused it to go dead is to send it to the manufacturer for testing.
Patrick
How is the grip tape on this bat? How long does the pop last in the bat? Baller
The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) features a fairly thick padded grip that does a nice job of absorbing any shock and vibration traveling through the bat. Typically alloy models will last between a year and a half to two years depending on the usage.
Joe
What has a bigger sweet spot the Easton S3 or the S2? owen
The 2015 Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) and the Easton S3 are going to have the same size sweet spot.
Frankie
My son is a big strong boy at 4'4" and 93 lbs. I purchased the 30"/17 oz for his first year in coach pitch. He has a strong swing. Will this bat be a good fit? (He passed the holding the bat out straight for 30 seconds test with no problem) Trent
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting this Easton S2 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S2) in a 29" length. However, if he has already been handling a 30" bat already, I think going with that 30" length should be just fine. If you feel that your player can handle the resulting 18 oz weight of the 30" model of this bat (which it sounds like he is able to do so), I would recommend that size option.
