Description

Easton truly believes that every player should have the opportunity to hit for power. However, the road to power hitting is different for every player. Some players need extra bat speed to reach their full power potential, while others need more weight and a bigger barrel. That's why Easton is changing the game this season and taking an approach to bats that no other manufacturer has ever tried before. Introducing the POWER Brigade; Two series, one distinct result. Whether you prefer the fast swinging Speed Series or the heavier extended barrel XL Series, POWER will be your outcome. Forget flashy designs and gimmicky names, these bats produce RESULTS. The Speed Series (S1, S2, S3, S4) features the lowest Moment of Inertia (M.O.I.) on the market to create light swing weights and generate more power. On the other side of the spectrum, the XL Series (XL1, XL2, XL3) features extra long barrels designed to give players expanded hitting zones and more mass in the barrel, generating more power in every swing. Easton really does strive to fulfill the preferences of any type of player as both series come in two-piece IMX Composite designs (S1 and XL1), two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Aluminum hybrid designs (S2 and XL2), and one-piece THT100 Aluminum designs (S3 and XL3). The S4 is similar to the S3, except that it has a 2 1/2 inch barrel for MAXIMUM swing speed! As for the materials, Easton's patented IMX Composite has proven to be one of the highest performing materials in the game year after year, while THT100 Aluminum provides superior dent and crack resistance. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology and you have a new line of bats that is second to none. Easton: We Believe In Power! This bat is BBCOR Certified and approved for high school and collegiate play. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Simplified Swing

Pros: Light swing, even thte -3 feels like a greater drop for the length. for me the extra inch allows me to drive to the opposite field while the lighter feel allows me to get out in front of the inside pitch to pull. Lots of pop and getting better with each use.

Cons: None noticed yet

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton S4 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB11S4? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What is the difference between the s3 and s4? Jeff
The S4 is similar to the S3, except that it has a 2 1/2 inch barrel for maximum swing speed. Other than that, these bats are similar is every other aspect.
Jennifer
My son need a bbcor for jrhigh baseball but he still does 12u usssa travel baseball. Would a bbcor have the same pop as a usssa approved -5 bat jr12
The BBCOR bats would have less pop off of them due to the restrictions that have been placed on the High School and College levels. Here are the links to view our BBCOR bats, as well as the -5 USSSA approved bats. http://www.justbats.com/products/?s=bbcor http://www.justbats.com/products/baseball%20bats~youth%20big%20barrel/approved%20for~usssa/?s=-5
Derek
will this bat have a lighter swing weight than the rawlings 5150? axeman
Yes. The new S4 will have a lighter swing weight compared to the 5150 from Rawlings.
Tyler
With a slightly smaller barrel where was the weight distributed? Is it a longer barrel, thicker handle, thicker walls? Will the S4 has of much pop as the S3. Also, would it be a benefit to move up in length from say a 32/29 to 33/30 to get more pop? MD
The S4 is a very balanced bat. The majority of the weight distribution will be towards the middle of the bat and handle. Positioning the weight away from the end of the barrel, gives the S4 a very balanced and light swing weight. The S4 should be just as high performing as the S3. I would recommend sticking with the same size bat you would normally use. If you use the same size, you'll be able to generate much higher swing speeds with the S4...and higher swing speed will translate to more power.
Tyler
Would this have as much pop as the S1? I have the S1 but I wanted the 2 1/2 inch barrel. j123
The Easton S4 BBCOR: BB11S4 will have great pop like the Easton S1 BBCOR: BB11S1.
Kara
Does the S4 have as much pop as the S1 and S2? jdrago212
The S4 is more comparable to the S3. The S4 will have similar pop to the S3.
Tyler
Should I get the Easton S3 or S4? Baker_Baseball
The Easton S3 and the Easton S4 are very comparable bats as they are both one-piece fully alloy bats. The biggest difference between the Easton S3 and the Easton S4 is the barrel diameter. The Easton S3 has a 2 5/8" barrel diameter and the Easton S4 has a 2 1/2" barrel diameter.
Austin
The S4 seems to be geared towards middle school players making the -3 transition. My son is 13 5'4 and 150lbs. He hits line drives with power. I would think a 31/28 is the bat for him. How successful is the bat in the marketplace? I only see 2 reviews? Ingot1971
The S4 is definitely a great bat for a middle school age player making a transition to a full size -3 bat, or for a High School age player who is much smaller in stature with below average swing speed. Many people are scared away by it's slightly smaller barrel, but if you're a good hitter, it really won't make that much of a difference. I've spoken with a few customers who have the S4 and have been more than competitive with it at the plate. At 5'4" 150 lbs, I would actually recommend a 32 inch model in the S4.
Tyler
Since the S4 has a smaller barrel, is it still legal to play with in various leagues that require BBCOR bats? nesh1014
Yes, the S4 has the BBCOR certification and is legal for play in any league that mandates the BBCOR certification. For more BBCOR bat options feel free to check out the BBCOR search filter at Justbats.com.
Shelbe
Which is better, the S3 or the S4? dobs22
The Easton S4 BBCOR and the Easton S3 BBCOR are the same bat with the exception of the barrel size.
Kara
What bat would be better for my son, S3 or S4? He is 12 years old, 5'3" and weighs 106lbs. bbase
The S3 and S4 are the same bat except that the S4 has a smaller barrel diameter of 2 1/2". The smaller barrel diameter will allow the S4 to be a little quicker through the zone and easier to control, but you will be sacrificing hitting area. I would only go with the S4 if you are worried about your son being able to get the bat around.
Nick D
Can you tell much of a difference in the barrel size of 2 1/2 compaired to 2 5/8? ts3
A 2 5/8" barrel will be .125 inches bigger in diameter than a 2 1/2" barrel.
Tyler
Does the size of the barrel effect your ability to hit the ball solid or on the sweet spot? Cayce
The larger the barrel, the larger the hitting surface, and the larger the sweetspot. The S4 is designed for players who have below average strength and swing speed.
Tyler
Would you recommend the s4 over the S3 or not? Dan
Both bats use the same high performing THT100 aluminum. The only difference is the Easton S4 has a 2 1/2" barrel and the Easton S3 has a 2 5/8" barrel.
Tom
Which is better S3 or S4? jaryd
The Easton S3 and S4 both use the same THT100 alloy. The only difference between the two models is that the S3 has a 2 5/8" barrel while the S4 has a 2 1/2" barrel.
John
Can you tell me if this bat is approved for USSSA? Laura
Yes it is. All BBCOR certified bats are legal for USSSA play.
Tyler
Will I be able to tell the difference in the barrel if I get this? Does the 2 1/2 inch barrel seem a lot different? john
There will be a noticeable difference between the 2 1/2" barrel and a normal 2 5/8" barrel. The main benefit to the Easton S4 is that it provides you with and increase in bat control and bat speed.
Tom
Hi, my son son is 5'1" and 120 lbs. He is stepping up from a youth bat to big barrel this year. I am looking at your bat pack which features the S3 and S4. He is not a power hitter but more of a line drive, contact hitter. I am thinking of the S3 in a 30"/27oz. and the S4 in a 31"/28oz. but I am also afraid of buying two bats that are too similar. Can you please advise? Thank you innermarker
Yes, the Easton S4 BBCOR: BB11S4 Adult and the Easton S3 BBCOR: BB11S3 Adult bats will be the same except for the barrel diameters. The S3 will have the 2 5/8" barrel, while the S4 will have the smaller 2 1/2" barrel. Both bats will feel and hit the same. Both will have 12 month warranties through Easton.
Brandon
I notice reading your section "Ask A Question", about the Easton S1 BBCOR you mention that using the S1 in a batting cage with those yellow dimpled balls will effect the pop of the bat, is that true with the S4 2012 too? Cameo99
You should never use any game bat in a batting cage with the yellow dimpled balls. The yellow dimpled balls significantly affect the performance of any alloy or composite bat.
Noah
My son is 12 , 5'1",and 120 lbs. He currently uses a 31" -10 omen and a 31" - 9 voodoo. His bat speed is above average compared to many of his peers. He is moving up to a -3 league but does not like big barrel bats. Is the S4 the only small barrel -3 on the market or does anyone have a composite version. If not what size should I get him, a 31" or a 32"? Thanks. Fat Earl
The Easton S4 is the only BBCOR bat on the market with a 2 1/2" barrel. Based on his size, a 31" model would be recommended.
Tyler
Is this bat considered a skinny barrel ? tim
At 2 1/2", the Easton S4 has a barrel that is .125" smaller than your average Adult bat. It's not considered a "skinny barrel" but it is smaller than average.
Tyler
Is this bat new for 2013? Big Z
The Easton S4 BBCOR: BB11S4 Adult bat will be a model from the previous year. It is a 2012 bat.
Brandon
I'm 13 and buying my first big barrel -3 bat. I'm 5 feet and 95 pounds. What length would you suggest for this bat for me? Charlie
For your size I would recommend a 29" bat. We have the 2013 Easton S3 BBCOR: BB13S3 Adult available in the size you need.
Noah
I am 13 years old playing my first year of high school baseball. I am 5 foot 2 inches and would like to know what size you would suggest? trav_moore
An Easton S4 BBCOR: BB11S4 Adult bat 31 inches long should work great for you.
Kevin
What size of bat should I purchase for my 14-year-old Eighth Grader? His height is 5'9" and he weighs 150 pounds. Bama
According to our Bat Coach tool, I would recommend a 32" Easton S4 BBCOR bat for your player. http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Mac
I'm 5' 3" and I weigh 100 pounds. I'm going to try out for freshman baseball in my high school. Would this bat be good for me? What size would I need? Elibaseball1215
The Easton S4 BBCOR: BB11S4 is approved for high school play and would be a good option for you. Based on results from our Bat Coach tool that's located on our homepage, we recommend a 29" bat for you.
Mac
Which bat is more balanced, the 2012 S4 BBCOR or the S3 BBCOR? Also, which has better pop? Tom
The Easton S4 BBCOR and the Easton S3 BBCOR are equally balanced bats. Since they both have to meet the .50 BPF BBCOR standard, one bat is not going to have more "pop" than the other.
Marcus
Will I notice a difference in hitting with the 2 1/2 " barrel or from a normal size barrel? Would you recommend this for a 6'1" 160lbs Sophomore in high school? Is this bat for contact hitters? Baseball#17
Since it is just a slight difference in the barrel diameter I wouldn't think you would notice too much of a change in your swing, This bat is definitelty for contact hitters. If your son is a power hitter I would suggest a Easton XL3. The Easton XL3 is slightly end-loaded so it will add even more pop his swing.
Chad M.
I'm a 5'3'' 140 lbs. and I'm playing middle school ball. Would you recommend this bat over the Easton XL3, because I'm a power pull hitter but a contact hitter as well. When I hit it I hit it the other way, and is the Easton XL3 end loaded? batbreaker 83
The Easton XL3 is end loaded. So if you are worried that the extra weight will slow down your bat speed I would go with the Easton S4 BBCOR: BB11S4 Adult.
Chad M.
If the grip came off how thin or thick would the handle be? edward
The Easton S4 BBCOR has a thin 31/32" tapered handle before they add the grip.
Brandon
I'm 5'4" 140 lbs and I'm looking for a bat for middle school. I'm really interested in this bat, what length would you recommend because I'm a very strong kid? ballbuster87
The Easton S4 BBCOR: BB11S4 Adult bat will be a good choice for you. Our bat coach would recommend a 32" or 33" bat.
Robert
I am 5' 6", 175 lbs. and I would like to know what is better, the Easton S Series or the XL Series? KidzPlayBaseball
The Easton S Series, including the Easton S4 BBCOR: BB11S4 Adult, are going to be balanced bats designed for contact hitters. The XL series is end loaded and designed for power hitters.
Kevin
I am 5'4" and weigh 130 pounds. I need a BBCOR bat. Would you recommend the Easton S4 or the Easton S2? logan4young
The Easton S4 BBCOR: BB11S4 Adult is going to be a stiff, one-piece, metal bat. The S2 is going to be a two-piece, half and half bat that will be useful as an all around bat.
Kevin
What is the difference between the S3 and S4? sfbball
The Easton S4 BBCOR: BB11S4 Adult bat features a 2 1/2" barrel diameter which is slightly smaller than the 2 5/8" barrel diameter of the Easton S3. The smaller barrel diameter is designed to increase swing speed.
Mac
Which Easton Series would you consider for powerhitters? Bob
The Easton S4 BBCOR: BB11S4 Adult bat is a very balanced model that a contact hitter would better utilize. The Easton XL Series will have an end load swing feel and would be a good option for a power hitter.
Mac
I'm 13 and I'm 5'7 185 pounds. I wanted to know what size bat I should get in the S4? big d
Based on your height and weight we recommend a 33" Easton S4 BBCOR: BB11S4 Adult.
Kara
I have a son playing in middle school ball where a drop 3 bat is required. I was looking at the S4. He is small for his size but a drop 3 is required. He is 4 foot 11 and weighs 85 pounds. I was thinking of getting a 30 inch 27 ounce or a 29 inch 26 ounce. Any suggestions? Michael
Based on your son's height and weight, we would suggest using a 29 inch size of the Easton S4 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB11S4).
Patrick
Do you know if high schools regulate 2 1/2 or 2 5/8? rob
High School just requires the bats to be BBCOR certified. The barrel diameters can not exceed 2 5/8" in diameter.
John
Is there a new version of this bat on the market this year? Jeff
Unfortunately Easton discontinued the Easton S4 BBCOR model in 2015.
Damon
I know that bat is discontinued, but is there a bat that is similar to it? gus
The Easton S4 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB11S4) was a fully alloy design. It had a smaller 2 1/2" barrel diameter. We have many one-piece fully alloy bats on our website currently. But they will have the barrel diameter of 2 5/8".
