Description

New for The next generation of the Easton XL1 Power Brigade has arrived. Now in its second season, this groundbreaking line of bats is unlike anything else on the field today. The concept is simple: Help players hit for power. However, Easton realizes that different players achieve a powerful swing in different ways. That's why the Power Brigade is divided into two distinct series - the XL Series (XL1, XL2, and XL3) and the Speed Series (S1, S2, and S3). The XL Series is designed for bigger, stronger hitters who derive their power from a bat with more mass. Smaller length to weight ratios, and an extra-long barrel with a massive sweet spot and a slight end load characterize the XL Series. The Speed Series, on the other hand, helps players increase their swing speed in order to generate more power. These bats feature lighter length to weight ratios, a lower M.O.I., and a balanced feel. Further trying to equip players with their perfect bat, Easton offers all of its Power Brigade bats in a two-piece IMX Composite/SIC Black Carbon design (XL1, S1), a two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Scandium Alloy hybrid design (XL2, S2), and a one-piece THT Scandium Alloy design (XL3, S3). Two of the highest performing materials ever used on a bat, Easton's patented IMX Composite optimizes the sweet spot for maximum performance, while their THT Scandium Alloy provides solid durability and allows for a larger alloy sweet spot than is seen anywhere else on the field. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology, and you've got a line of bats that can't be topped. Easton: Personalize Your Power! The Easton XL1 is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by Easton's Exclusive 400 Day Manufacturer's Warranty. Pros: This bat is amazing. It has a massive sweet spot and tremendous pop. My son used it at the Little League World Series where you can try out the bat. He hit better than I had ever seen him hit before. The 2013 Easton XL1 is truly amazing.

Pros: The bat performed wonderfully right out of the box. My 85 lb. 9 year old was hitting line drives into the outfield quite easily even when he didn't "barrel" the ball. Can't wait to see what happens when he really nails one!

Pros: I gave XL1 bat 4 stars right out of the wrapper. Out of the wrapper the XL1 is very stiff. You can hear it when you make contact with the ball. We hit roughly 100 balls last night with no change. But with all Easton composite bats you need to get upwards of 500-1000 hits before they really open up. The sounds of the ball coming off the bat will change. It will go froma thud to gun shot sound. I will review this bat again here in the next few weeks and report on the performance.

Pros: Update. I am still leaving it with 4 starts. I am sure it will change to 5 though. Since the last report . My son and I have hit roughly 600 ball off the tee. He has hit the majority of them. You can hear a differnece in sound of the bat when the ball comes off the barrel. Not that thud sound from the begining. I have real high hopes for this bat. I hit the bat this past weekend n the cage. The balls were coming of the bat uite impressive. There is sill alot more in this bat. We hope to hit another 300-400 hits this week. I will report back next week.

Pros: Amazing bat, great pop and stunning appearance. I am 12, 5 foot and 80 lbs, my last bat was the 2013 30/19 CF5, it was a good bat, but this bat beats it. First time hitting with it, I jacked one off the fence. I would definetly recommend this bat to anyone who likes to rip the ball hard.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton XL1 Youth Baseball Bat: YB13X1? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Are all the XL and S series bats approved for use in Cal Ripken as well as the other leagues you mention? Nick D
Yes. Both the 2013 Easton S1 and XL1 youth bats are approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and USSSA. These bats are widely accepted across most youth leagues, but if you do not see your league on this list, it's recommended your check with your coach or league director prior to purchase.
Tyler
Hello. Has Easton provided an ETA on the 2013 XL1? Thank you! Mark
If you order the **PRE-BOOK** 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth it will ship out on November 14th with free 2nd day air.
Kara
How is this bat different from the old XL1 and what does pre-book mean? matt
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 features a new composite in the handle called SIC (Solid Impact Construction) Composite. This new feature will help to eliminate sting and vibration giving the 2013 model a better feel and making it a more forgiving bat. Pre-Book means you can reserve a bat now, and once we get them in on 11/14, it will ship to you with free 2-Day Air. If you place a pre-book order, your bat will be reserved and you don't run the risk of us being sold out in your size one we get the 2013 models in stock.
Tyler
Hello there. I've been reading a bit about these fully composite bats. And have a couple of questions, is there a specific method required to "break in" this bat? Can the bat be used if the temperatures are low? Say 50-60 degrees? Jason
We recommend breaking in composite bats by taking 100-200 swings off a soft toss or a tee. Rotate the barrel about 1/4 inch each swing. Composite bats like the 2013 Easton XL1 can be used in temperatures above 50 degrees.
Kara
Is there any difference in the sweet spot from the old XL1 and the new 2013 XL1? easton is beast
The 2012 and 2013 Easton XL1 will have the same size extended barrels. The main difference is that the 2013 Easton XL1 features a new SIC Black Carbon composite handle.
Tom
My son is 11 and is 56" and 77lbs. He is a singles, doubles hitter looking for more pop. Is this a good bat for him? Will this be available in -8 2 1/4" barrel? Rob
Yes, the 2013 Easton XL1 would be an excellent option for your son. The only XL1 that is available with a -8 length to weight ratio is going to have a 2 5/8" barrel diameter.
Tom
Is this bat approved for Little league? Danny
Yes, the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth baseball bat is approved for Little League.
Jeff
Is this bat legal for pony baseball? Skradski1122
Yes, this 2013 EASTON XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat would be legal for use in Pony Leagues. It will feature a Two-Piece Composite design and a 2 1/4" barrel diameter. I would suggest checking with your league official or coach to make sure.
Brandon
Will this have more pop than the 2012 Easton XL1? Cosimo
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth. Will have the same design as the 2012 model. It will be a Two-Piece, 100% Composite model with an End Loaded feel. This bat will have great pop and is typically loved by power hitters.
Brandon
Is this better than the 2012 model. If so, is it good for a number 2 hitter with decent power and contact who is looking for more homers? me
Yes, the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat would be a great fit for a hitter with some power and good contact. This bat will have a barrel heavy, End Loaded feel to it. It would most certainly help your contact translate into added home run power.
Brandon
does it com in any different colors? Cosimo
Unfortunately the new 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat only comes In yellow.

If i'm 5 foot 6 120 pounds and age 11 what size do you recommend for me? Joe
Based on your size, a 32" 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat would be recommended.
Tyler
My son is 4'9" and weighs 76lbs. He will be 10 in March. What would be a good length for him? Also, does this bat have what the Louisville Slugger Omaha lists in its description as the trampoline effect? I hear my son and other older boys in the league talking about it? He has an Omaha now and loves it. I really like this Easton, please help. I don't know much about bats obviously. Brigit
The suggested length of the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat would be at 30". This is based off of your son's height, weight, and age. The Easton XL1 would be a Two-Piece all Composite material bat. Once broken-in this bat would have a high producing trampoline effect. The Omaha is a One-Piece all Alloy designed bat that is at it's highest performing right out of the wrapper. It doesn't require a break-in period. Either bat is a great choice for a youth hitter.
Brandon
Do you'll have a big barrel version of this bat? Jj
The 2013 Easton XL1 is available in a big barrel but it has a -8 length to weight ratio rather than this model which has a -10 length to weight ratio. Here is a link to view the big barrel model of the Easton XL1. http://www.justbats.com/product/--pre-book---2013-easton-xl1--sl13x18-senior-league/15970/
Tom
Do they make in -10 at all? That is the size i am looking for bigbat
Yes. This bat (the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1) actually has a -10 length to weight ratio.
Tyler
My son is 5'0 115 pounds and he's 11, which size should he use? eee
Based on his size, a 31" youth bat is recommended with a weight between 20 and 22 oz.
Tyler
What would you recommend for me if I am 4'6 56 pounds? FLbaseball
You would be best going with a 29" 19oz. or a 30" 30oz. 2013 Easton XL1. Try using our bat coach though, it is an awesome tool on JustBats.com to help find the right bat for you.
Noah
Is this bat legal for the 2013 Cal Ripken leagues? Is this bat good for washington weather 45-50 degrees in the spring time? coach33
Yes. The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat is legal in Cal Ripken.
Tyler
What is better the Easton XL1, Easton Omen -12, or the Easton Omen drop -10? eee
The Easton Omen was replaced by the Easton XL1 and Easton S1. The XL1 is designed more for a power hitter as it is end loaded. The S1 is balanced and designed more for a contact hitter.
Damon
When you **Pre-Book** do you get now? Or do you wait til` 11/14. cookie montser
Pre-Book means you reserve your bat now, and it will ship from our warehouse on 11/14.
Tyler
is this bat approved for little league play 12prei
Yes, the **PRE-BOOK** 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 features the new USSSA stamp and therefore is legal for Little League play.
Aubrey
Do u make a 31" 20 oz.? 123tre
The **PRE-BOOK** 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth model is a -10 bat and therefore only comes in a 31" 21 oz. size.
Aubrey
Is it okay to use in Seattle WA weather,it can get around 30-45 degrees in the spring? COSIMO
Yes. It's just recommended you limit how much it is used when it's colder than 55 degrees or so. This just means you shouldn't let the whole team us it and you should try to use a spare or backup bat in practice when it's that cold.
Tyler
Is this bat end loaded? 1123tre
Yes, the 2013 Easton XL1 is an end loaded model. All three bats in the XL Series are end loaded.
Nick
What do you do if you need to slow down your bat speed? JohnnyCaz
Swinging the Easton XL1 will help, and going with a heavier bat as well will slow your bat speed.
Noah
I am a power hitter. My friend has the S1 and I hit homers with it all the time they recommended the XL1 for me. My other friend has a CF4 big barbell and is the same weight as the XL1 and I can swing it perfectly. Should I get the S1 or XL1? BIGHITTER6
The XL1 is endloaded, making it better suited for strong hitters with high swing speed. The S1 is very well balanced and better suited for hitters with average to below average strength and swing speed. You should make your decision based on that information.
Tyler
What do you recommend XL1,XL2,XL3?? JohnnyCaz
That depends on what bat the player has used in the past with the most success. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate.
Tyler
2013 Easton Power Brigade S1 Youth Baseball Bat -12oz. YB13S1 A112734 and **PRE-BOOK** 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth $239.95 [YB13S1] What are the differences in these two Easton bats? Louie
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is an end loaded bat, better suited for a player with quick bat speed and power. The 2013 Easton Power Bridgade S1 Youth Baseball bat is a balanced bat, better for a player who needs bat speed.
Kara
If I were to get a 30" 20 oz., how heavy would it feel with it being end loaded? buuba
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat would still feel like a 20 oz. bat. Instead of the weight being equally distributed throughout the bat, it will be more towards the end of the barrel.
Doug F.
Since this bat is end loaded will it make it harder to swing and can u still get around as fast as a bat that is not end loaded? 250
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is an end loaded bat and will feel heavier than a balanced model. Generally, players who have below average swing speed should swing a more balanced model.
Aubrey
What it the differences between the power brigade Easton xl1 and the Easton xl1 youth? qvwvads
The XL1 Youth bat is a part of Easton's Power Brigade Series. If you are asking what the difference is between the 2012 and 2013 models, it is the new SIC composite in the handle of the 2013 model. It will do a better job of reducing sting and vibration.
Tyler
My son is 12 is 5 feet tall and weighs 120 lbs. He is a power long ball hitter and I've been told has the fastest swing coach has ever seen in an 11 year old. I'm a little concerned a 31" 21oz will be a bit heavy. What you think? BBmom
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 is an end loaded bat. Even though he has quick bat speed, we would recommend the 30" 20 oz.
Kara
my son is 5 foot 4 and 135lbs and a very quick bat and pulls everything uses a 19oz now what would be the best weight for him? ssg green
Based on that information, a 31" 21 oz. 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 is recommended.
Tyler
I'm 5'2" 130. What size should I use? sdvgaeb
Based on your size, a 31" model of the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat is recommended.
Tyler
What temperature would you not recommend to use this bat in? b
I would be careful when using the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat in temperatures under 55 degrees. You can still use it when it's colder than that, but you need to make sure you are the only one using it, and you should try to limit the number of overall hits on it and use a back-up bat in practice if possible.
Tyler
My son is 11 and weighs about 85 pounds. Last year he had a Easton S1 19/17 and was a great contact hitter hitting for a very high average. Last summer he tried his friend's Easton XL1 30/20 and liked the extra power. He wants the new Easton XL1 30/20 for this coming season. I think he can handle the extra inch but I'm concerned about going up 3 ounces. Would you suggest the 30/20 or 29/19? MG
We would recommend the 29" 19 oz 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth. Three ounces is normally too big of a jump, especially with an end loaded bat.
Kara
Is this bat composite? Jalapeño24
Yes. The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 is a two-piece, full composite bat. This information is also available under the Bat Features section of the website.
Tyler
what does **PRE-BOOK** mean? b
"PRE-BOOK" simply means that the bat has not yet been released for sale by Easton but you may go ahead and order it so that you can receive it as soon as it is released.
Jeff
Would the 31" be good for me I am 5ft tall and 92 pounds. baseball
The 31" Easton XL1 would be the perfect size for you. Our bat coach is a perfect tool to find out which size bat you should be using.
Noah
when do you get these bats? b
The new Easton bats will be released on November 15, 2012.
Jeff
Is there a difference between this model and the original? GMAN
The **PRE-BOOK** 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth will be constructed the same as the previous year's model. The 2013 model will come with a Full 400 Day Warranty through Easton. The color scheme is updated for the new model. Also, the new handle on this year's bat will eliminate more vibration that could travel from contact to hands.
Brandon
I'm 5 ft. and 94 lbs. I use a S1 18 oz. and have a very quick bat speed. I use my friends XL1 30". What size would you recommend for me? GMAN
Based on your height and weight, we recommend the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat in a 30" 20 oz. model. For more information on sizing, please visit our bat coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Aubrey
My son is 5'0" 105lbs at 11 years old (almost 12). He has very fast bat speed but generates more power from his hips. He hits for power and looking to get him this bat but not sure if we should get him a 31" or 30". He has been swinging a 30" for a year and half. Is it time to move him up to a 31"? His hitting coach thinks he can handle a 31" but wanted to know your opinion of length and what series? Thank you, jim
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 30" 20 oz 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth. It is slightly end loaded, great for a power hitter.
Kara
Hi im 11 4ft. 10" i use a 32" 19 oz. I weigh 75 lbs. Im a power hitter. Which would be better s1 or xl1. And what size should i get. tj
If you're a power hitter with above average swing speed, the XL1 would be recommend due to it's endloaded design. A 31" 21 oz. XL1 would be recommended.
Tyler
Does the XL1 need to be "broken" in? Joe
Yes, the **PRE-BOOK** 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat will need a break-in period. It is a Two-Piece Fully Composite design. 100-200 swings from soft toss or a hitting tee while rotating the handle in the hitters hands will work fine. You just want the entire barrel to get a full work over while breaking in those composite fibers.
Brandon
What's the average "life" span with these bats? Will its pop last during pre-season, regular, and possibly postseason with tournaments in between? Thanks. ronjeremy
Yes, the **PRE-BOOK** 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat should work just fine for the type of season you are describing. Unlike all Alloy made bats that are the best from Day 1 and slowly lose their performance over time. This bat will require a break-in period. Once the break-in period has started this bat will start to perform well. The more swings you put on this model the better the performance you will see. This bat comes with a Full 400 Day Warranty from Easton.
Brandon
When will you be getting a 32 inch of this model? BIGDAN
We are scheduled to receive the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth 32" in approximately two weeks.
Kara
What size do you recommend for my boy who is 5' 1", and about 90 lbs? He is also very athletic. Tall and lean. Jerf
By using Bat Coach on our website, at 5' 1" and 90 lbs, I would recommend a 30" 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat. I would not go any higher that a 31".
Doug F.
When will you have a 30" 20 oz. version of this model in stock? Frank J
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth model should be back in stock and available in a week to two weeks. I would definitely check back then. We currently have an Out of Stock Reminder List on which we can add your information and contact you when your desired product comes in. Please let us know if you wish to be added to our list.
Brandon
Will you be getting more of the other sizes? b
Yes, we will be getting more 2013 Easton XL1's in stock in 2 weeks. When we receive them, it will update our site to show the sizes available.
Nick
My son has a 29 -12 bat right now and he wants an Easton XL1, you think go for a 28/18 or a 29/19. Not sure if its better to go down in length and 1 up on weight or same length but up 2 on weight. Thanks. TJ
That depends on his swing speed and bat control with the 29" 17 oz. bat he currently has. If he has above average swing speed, and good bat control with it, then a 29" 19 oz. XL1 would be a good option. If not, I would go with a 28" 18 oz. model.
Tyler
I am a leadoff/contact hitter, but I also have an above average swing speed. because of this would the XL1 or S1 be better for me. Also if the S1 and XL1 are both 30in. models, will the XL1 feel actually 3 ounces heavier because it's end loaded? Thanks. jackolas
If you have good swing speed as a contact hitter the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 would be the best choice. It is end loaded and you will be able to feel the increase in weight.
Kara
Does this bat come in a 31" 21 oz? Jeff
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is manufactured in a 31" 21 oz model. You can call customer service at 1-866-321-2287 and we will put you on a list to be contacted once we have more in stock.
Aubrey
Is there a significant difference between this 30in 20oz and the combat b4 30in 20oz in terms of weight. Cause i CAN SWING THE B4 IN THAT SIZE PRETTY WELL and wanted to know if the xl1 would be that much heavier because its enloade. thanks Tom
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat will have a slightly more endloaded feel than the COMBAT B4.
Tyler
Will Easton be coming out with -10 big barrel version of this bat? Da beast
The 2013 Easton XL1 Senior League bat is manufactured in both a -8 and -5.
Aubrey
I swing a Combat B3 Gear 29" 19 oz. and it's pretty good, but I also have tried a 30" 20 oz. and don't have any problems with it. Should i stick with 19 oz. and get the CF5, or get the XL1? John
If you can handle the 30" 20 oz. I would recommend moving up in length and weight when ever you can. You will need to continue moving up as you get older and whenever you can easily handle moving up it is recommended that you do so.
Jeff
I'm 54 in. and 10 yrs old. Should I get the XL series or S series? I use my friend's XL1 and I like it better. Jack W
The Easton XL Series has an extended barrel and more end loaded swing weight. It would be good for a player who has above average swing speed. The Easton S Series is a very balanced model and better for the player who has average to below average swing speed.
Aubrey
Should I get the XL1 or S1 I use a CF4 30in. 19oz. I am 5 foot 95pounds and 12 years old with good bat speed. loganb
The Easton S1 is going to be a better bat for you. It will feel balanced like the DeMarini CF4 did. The Easton XL1 is going to be end loaded, and feel heavier when you swing the bat, which could lower your bat speed.
Noah
Did Easton make a modification that eliminates a break in period for this bat? Lucky
As with all composite bats it is still recommended that you break in the bat with 100 - 200 soft toss swings rotating the bat 1/4 inch after each swing.
Jeff
What is difference between this years model and last years ? (besides colors) ccb
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 features a new composite in the handle called SIC (Solid Impact Construction) Composite. This new feature will help to eliminate sting and vibration giving the 2013 model a better feel and making it a more forgiving bat.
Tyler
My son recently turned 7, is 4' and about 45 pounds. He hits leadoff, is a great contact hitter with good bat speed but am looking for more pop. Do you recommend the S1, XL1 or XL2 model? Mecca
If he has above average swing speed, a more endloaded bat like the XL1 or XL2 will help him generate more inertia, which translates into more power/pop. The XL1 is a two-piece full composite bat that is top-of-the-line for Easton.
Tyler
Will the drop -8 have a bigger sweet spot the youth drop -10??? JgmjhgjhjhgmhjgLisacarrie
Yes. Big barrel bats have larger barrels... thus, larger sweetspots.
Tyler
My son used the Easton S2 big barrel for travel ball this fall in a 31" -10. It's a great bat with lots of power, he hit several HR's & triple's. He is age 9, 5'2" & 130 lbs. We are looking at the Easton S1 or XL2 for spring Little League, any suggestions? Thanks! Kmarzano
The best predictor of what a player will be successful with is what they were successful with previously at the plate. Therefore, I would recommend he uses the Easton S1: YB13S1 Youth bat. This is a very balanced model like the Easton S2 he used in the 31" model.
Aubrey
My son is 10 and weighs about 100 lbs. He is currently using the Combat (30/20 I believe), and we are looking to invest in a new bat. Any thoughts on best Easton bat for him? s
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth will be a good fit because it uses composite like most COMBATs do. But, the 2013 Easton XL3 would be great as well because of the one piece design that COMBAT uses.
Zach
What size bat would be good for my son who is almost 9, 90 lbs and about 4'8"? He uses the Voodoo now but wants a second bat. SR
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 29" 19 oz. model in the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat. For more information on sizing, please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Aubrey
What is the major difference between the YB13X1 and the YB11X1? Robert
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat has the new SIC Black Carbon Composite Handle which is an upgrade over the YB11X1.
Jeff
What is the difference between the 2013 Easton XL1 and 2012 Easton XL1 youth? Ronron
The 2013 Easton XL1 has a new SIC black carbon composite handle that will be more durable than the 2012 model and reduce more vibration.
Damon
Is this bat for speed or power? Big casino
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 is an endloaded bat for player with above average strength and swing speed.
Tyler
My kid is 7 y/o and is 4'5" and 73 lbs. Has been using 2012 S2 28/15 and is a very consistent contact hitter looking for more pop (42 mph machine pitch). 28/18 or 29/19 XL1? John
Based on his size, a 29" model is recommended.
Tyler
Has there been any issues with the barrel cracking with the 2012 XL1 and 2013 XL1? I've noticed that the Combat 2012 PUREGEAR YB1 has a history of the barrel cracking within a year. CY
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat is a two-piece fully composite design. The COMBAT Pure Gear is a one-piece fully composite design. Any composite bat that you do not break-in correctly will have a chance of cracking or breaking on the barrel. You must use a batting tee or soft toss and work the entire barrel over. Swing at 40-50% power and rotate the bat in the hands. This will help the composite fibers break-in on the barrel.
Brandon
My son is 12, 5'9" & 130 with pretty good strength and swing speed. He's returning to LIttle League after playing travel ball for the lat 1 1/2 years. I'm considering the XL1 but not sure. He swings a 32/21. Would the XL1 be a good fit? Composite or aluminum barrel? Thanks Baseball dad
This is a difficult question for us to answer as much of the decision comes down to the personal preference of the player and what bat type of bat they have used previously with the most success. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate.
Tyler
I noticed you do not have the 2013 XL1 in a 30/20. Is there a reason for this? buzz
We only display the sizes we have in stock and ready to ship. If you do not see a specific size, that indicates it is currently out of stock. We will be receiving more XL1 bats within the next 2-4 weeks.
Tyler
My son is 11yo. 5ft. 102lbs. Quick bat. Used a 30-17 last season. Would the xl1 30-20 be too big of jump. Should He use s1 31-19. Clutchman
That's a very difficult question for us to answer without being able to see and analyze his swing. If he had well above average swing speed and bat control with his 17 oz. bat, then he should be fine moving up 3 oz. If he had just average or below average swing speed and bat control with his 17 oz. bat, then a 19 oz. S1 would be recommended.
Tyler
Is there much difference in the balance between the XL1(-10), XL2 (-11), and XL3 (-11)? Looking at the 29" or 30". Red
All of the swing weights on the new 2013 Easton XL Series will have a slight end load because of the extra long barrel. The 2013 XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat will be a two-piece composite, while the XL2 will be a half and half, and XL3 will be a one-piece all alloy. Obviously, the 1 oz. difference will help the overall swing weight compared to the other two bats. This bat features a massive sweet spot and has a full 400 day warranty through Easton.
Brandon
My son is 7 yrs old and weighs 91 pounds and measures 54 inches. He's a strong boy. He plays with a 28/18 but also uses a 31/20 I believe. In both travel and rec, he's considered a power hitter. Moving to C-ball(kid pitch) what bat do you recommend between the Voodoo, XL1, S1 or one of the Combats? I want a bat with great pop and power when he hits the sweet spot. Money is no concern. Thanks shag
This is a difficult question for to answer as much of the decision comes down to the personal preference of the player and what bat type of bat they have used previously. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate.
Tyler
What are the differences between the 2012 and the 2013 models of the xl1 Bomber
There will not be many differences in the 2012 to the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat. Both will be made up of two-piece all composite designs. Both will have an end load to the swing weight. Both will require a period of break-in. The color scheme will be a little different.
Brandon
My son is 4'1" 60 lbs 9yr. Good contact hitter, desent power. Would you suggest the Easton 2 1/4" 28 18 XL1 or the Easton S1 2 5/8" 28 18? JO
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is an end loaded bat. It is best suited for a contact hitter with power. The Easton S1 is a very balanced bat, best for a player who needs to increase their bat speed. As far as choosing a small barrel or big barrel bat that's going to be more of a personal choice.
Kara
Is this allowed in Junior league baseball? Mark
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth will not be legal for play in Junior league.
Kevin S.
My son has just turned nine. He is large for his age, 58.5" tall and 90lbs. He has a great swing and is one of the most powerful hitters on his team. He has been using a 28" 16oz and I think he's outgrown it. Would the XL1 or the S1 be a better choice for him? What size would you recommend? Team Iowa
The XL1 is recommended for stronger hitters due to its endloaded design. A 30" model is recommended based on his size.
Tyler
Does this bat have much pop as the 2013 S1 youth bat? rydawg
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth and 2013 Easton S1: YB13S1 Youth are made from the same IMX and SIC composite and will perform at the same level. The XL1 is a -10 with a slightly endloaded swing weight and an extra-long barrel, while the S1 is -12 with a balanced swing weight.
Katie
How does the Easton XL1 compare to the Demarini CF5? Leadoffman
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth has an end-load. The DeMarini CF5 is a balanced bat.
Frank
Please explain more about the difference between an "end load" and a "balanced" bat. leadoffman
End-loaded bats are bats that are top heavy with more of the weight distributed towards the end of the barrel. These bats are best for power hitters with high swing speeds as they are able to generate more inertia with an end-loaded bat, improving performance. Balanced bats are bats that have an even weight distribution throughout the entire bat. These bats are easier for most hitters to control and generate ideal swing speed with. Balanced bats are best for your hitters with average or below average strength and swing speed.
Tyler
What is the break-in period and how long is it? Daddy Buying Bat
Since the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is a composite bat, the materials need to be broken in so they can expand for peak performance. Generally, it take roughly 150-200 contact swings with a real baseball to break the bat in. you should rotate the bat about 1/4" after each swing.
Marcus
I am a 4'10" kid and weigh 90 lbs. Last year I had a -10 30" bat and hit 2 home runs with it. Should I get a -8 XL1 or S1? nick
For power hitters, I would recommend the 2013 Easton XL1 Youth bat since it is an end loaded bat. For contact hitters, I would recommend the 2013 Easton S1 Youth bat since it is a very balanced bat.
Marcus
I'm looking for a 31" bat. I am 57" tall and one of the strongest kids in my age group. Which bat would be better for me. Easton 2013 XL1 or the Easton 2013 S1. Which one is better? SportyKid369
The 2013 Easton S1 is a very balanced bat, while the 2013 Easton XL1 has a more end loaded feel. I would recommend the XL1 for a power hitter and S1 for a contact hitter.
Marcus
I am 57" and 11 years old. I am very strong but have not hit any home runs yet. Would this bat be good for me? Also what length would be good? Mr.Baseball
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat is end loaded, which is good for power hitters. I would recommend going with the 30" 20 oz. model.
Marcus
Right now I swing a 31" 20 oz. 2013 CF5. I have good swing speed and normally hit 3rd in the lineup. Should I switch to this bat, or stick with the CF5? I'm 5'3" 80 lbs. and 12 years old. BaseballTurtle
Both the 2013 Easton XL1 and the DeMarini CF5 are high-performing, two-piece composite bats. The XL1 will be more end loaded than the CF5. I would recommend swinging both and going with what one feels the best.
Justin R.
I am 5'8" and 170 pounds. I have hit home runs in practice. I use a 31" 20 oz. bat but have grown since last year. What size would be best for me? Kyle
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 32" model in the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat. For further information on sizing, please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Aubrey
My 11 year old son is 4' 7" and is 72 lbs. What size bat should he be swinging? matt
Your son should be swinging a 29" 19oz. bat. Try using our bat coach in the link for future sizing. http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Noah
My son just turned 10, weighs 110 lbs, and is 5' tall. For the past two seasons he used a 29" 16oz. Easton Reflex. It is very light considering length. What bat model and size would be best for him in either the Easton XL1 or S1. John
If he was already using a bat that had a light swing weight it is going to be best to go with another bat that has a light swing weight. The Easton S1 is going to be the ideal bat for your son.
Noah
My grandson is 5'1" and weighs 135 lbs.Should he get a 31" or 32" XL1? Fast bat speed power hitter. phantom
Given his size, I suggest going with the 31" model of the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth.
Marcus
My son is 9 going on ten here in a couple of months and he weighs 82 pounds and is 4'11". He is a good athlete with long arms. I am looking at the new Easton XL1 or the S1. I am wondering about bat speed with the longer arms. Do you think he would be better with the XL1 or the S1? John
I would recommend going with the 2013 Easton S1. You are going to get the same high performance and faster swing speeds.
Justin R.
My twin 12 year olds are swinging a 30" -11 CF5 and I wanted to pick up an Easton XL1 or S1. Which one would you recommend? Rudy510
If both of your daughters are swinging a DeMarini CF5 I recommend going with the Easton S1, because it will have the same feel as the CF5.
Noah
My son is 9 years old, 4' 8", weighs 105 pounds, and he is swinging a 30 " -10 bat now. He has great upper body strength and good bad speed. I am looking at the XL1, your opinion? Striker4244
The XL1 is made for power hitters and by the sound of your son he sounds like he is a power hitter so the XL1 should be a perfect bat for him.
Noah
Do you have 32" 22 oz.? mopar
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat does come in a 32" 22 oz. However, at this time we do not have any in stock. We will be getting more in stock of that size, so keep an eye on our website. Once they come in, we will post it that same day.
Doug F.
If you want to use the bat this season, do you recommend getting the bat rolled? Have heard that this will help get the bat to peak performance and would not hurt the warranty? helpfuldad
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth should not be rolled. Not only is it illegal, but rolling the bat will void the manufacturer's warranty. We recommend a break-in period of 150-200 swings to get the bat game-ready.
Katie
I hit very well with the old XL1 but this year the pitching is faster. Is this bat light enough to get around against 70mph pitching or should I use a lighter bat for the harder pitchers? faisdabest
That is a very difficult question to answer without being able to see and analyze your swing. Typically, as players get older and pitching gets faster, the hitter also gets stronger and and develops better swing speed. Also, it's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate. Thus, I would recommend the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1.
Tyler
What is the difference between the XL1 bat and the XL3 bat? Jack
The 2013 Easton XL1 is a two-piece, all composite end loaded bat. The 2013 Easton XL3 is a one-piece, all alloy end loaded bat.
Marcus
My son is currently using the Easton Surge XXL -13 30", which he hits well. He is looking to try the XL1. He is 4' 6", 100 lbs., and 10 years old. Should he get the 30" XL1 or 29"? I'm wondering if the extra 3 oz. will give him problems. Con-man
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is an end loaded bat, so the balance will cause the bat to feel even heavier. Going up 3 oz. is a pretty big change, but probably less drastic than losing an inch off of his effective range. He will most likely be able to adapt to the 3 oz., not so much the shorter bat.
Kevin
How does the end load of the XL1 compare with the -10 Easton Omen? My son has excellent bat speed and power. He is currently hitting with a 31/21 Omen. Scott
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 is designed with more of an endloaded compared to the Omen. The Easton S1 on the other hand will be more balanced than the Omen.
Tyler
What does end loaded mean? What is MOI? Big Bat
End-loaded means more of the weight in the bat is distributed towards the end of the barrel giving it a heavier feel. MOI stands for moment of inertia. In baseball, MOI refers to the amount of energy it takes to swing a bat.
Tyler
Is this bat allowed in Intermediate (50/70) division? The bat rules must follow rule 1.10. Which say they must meet the little league specifications. Do you think I could use it? AlexDavidian13
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 is a full composite youth bat that is illegal in the Intermediate Division of Little League.
Tyler
My son is 11 and 5'2" 130 lbs. and hits his CF5 32"- 21 oz. bat well, but he wants and Easton XL1. We wanted the same size but looks like that's not an option. What size would you suggest, and I need to make sure the are legal for Little League? Thanks. jeff s
Based on his height and weight, I would suggest the 32" 22 oz. model in the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat. We are currently out of stock on that size, but they will be listed once we receive more. For the Little League Intermediate division, all composite barrel bats must be BBCOR certified.
Aubrey
Is the Easton XL1 legal for Babe Ruth? If it is, is the big barrel (2 5/8") legal or is it only the small barrel (2 1/4")? brady
Yes, the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is legal in Babe Ruth baseball. All small barrel bats with the BPF 1.15 stamp are legal. The Easton XL1 is not legal in the big barrel because of its composite barrel.
Frank
My son is 5' and 78 lbs, what length bat should I get him? Smith
I would recommend a 30" 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth.
Kevin
My son is going to be 13 and last year he used the Easton Omen 30-20. He's 5'2 110 lbs, with a good bat. He's going to play in house then travel ball. Should i go for the Easton S1 or the Easton XL1 and what size? JR
The 2013 Easton XL1 is end loaded and more for a power hitter. If you think you can handle the added weight at the end of the bat then the Easton XL1 would work. With the height and weight given we would suggest a 30" 20 oz., which is the same as the bat you had.
Chad M.
After playing summer ball will the Easton XL1 perform as well in fall ball with the cold weather being under 50 degrees, or is there a chance of it breaking? JR
Since the 2013 Easton XL1 Youth bat is composite it will have a greater chance of breaking under 55 degrees than a alloy bat. You could get the 2013 Easton XL3, it's a one-piece alloy.
Chad M.
My son is 5' tall and 110 pounds. What size should I buy him? He is a power hitter and he swings the 31" 17.5 oz. DeMarini Vexxum. Mike
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 30" to 31" model in the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat. For further information on sizing, please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Aubrey
Will this bat be good for spring ball? When the temperature gets over 60 degrees? Baberuthplayer
We recommend that the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat with a composite barrel be used in temperatures above 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
Aubrey
My son is using a Nike all composite 28/17 (-11) 2 1/4 inch model. He is around 49 inches and weighs 64 pounds. I would like to upgrade his bat and purchase a 29/19 of this Easton. Is this size a size you would recommend? I wanted something he can grow into, as well as use for a few years. Dar
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 28" model in the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat. You could go up to a 29" model if you wanted to get more use from it.
Aubrey
Does this bat lose its pop over time? JACK
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 is composed of the IMX Composite Barrel and SIC Black Carbon Composite Handle. The XL1 will continue to improve in performance until it reaches the end of its useful life.
Mac
Just bought the COMbat Reloaded 29" 17 oz. for my son and he does not love it. It's a good bat but he was trying his teammates Easton and loves it. He is 5'3" and 74 lbs. He is in Rookies division and has been hitting off a pitching machine set at 38 mph. They will be switching to live pitching in 4 games and I'm not sure how fast these kids will be throwing. I would like to see him with the Easton XL1 but not sure if going to 29/19 would be too significant of a weight increase? Perhaps the Easton S1? He currently is the hitting the ball hard mostly to center field or up the middle. Any suggestions? ejmjr
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is end loaded, which will have more weight towards the end of the barrel and slow down his bat speed. It would be more for the power hitter. If your son is a contact hitter or line drive guy, I would go with the Easton S1. It is balanced and would make for a faster swing.
Chad M.
Is this bat durable enough to play in Senior League play and is this made with the same material as the Easton -8 XL1? My son is playing Little League and travel ball at 50-70. I want to know if this bat can be use for both leagues. pk
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is made of the same material as the Easton XL1 -8. The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is legal in Little League Majors Division and below. Intermediate, Juniors, and Senior Divisions of Little League require all composite bats to be BBCOR certified. The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is legal in most travel leagues.
Kara
Does hitting pitching machine balls ruin the bat? jacoby
Yes it can. You should always stick to hitting real leather baseballs with the 2013 Easton XL1.
Noah
I have a 2013 XL1 29" 19 oz. Can you explain to me why this bat weighs 21.4 oz.? All other XL bats I have checked weigh more than the number on the bat. George
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bats, and all manufacturers' bats, are weighed bare before the grip and tape are added. Most will weigh more than advertised, but all are designed to have a swing weight that feels true to their size.
Katie
Is it allowed in CBL? good
Unfortunately, I was unable to locate any specific rules online for a "CBL" league. I recommend contacting your coach or league director.
Tyler
Is the barrel bigger than the 2012 Easton XL1 barrel? dubbondubbs
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth would have the same size barrel as the 2012 Easton model. The only difference would be the color scheme.
Chad M.
Is this bat similar to the Easton Omen? dubbondubbs
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth replaced the Omen within the Easton line.
Marcus
I am not much of a power hitter. But i heard this bat was great. Should I get this or the S1? Mwischusen
The 2013 Easton XL1 is endloaded and recommended if you have above average strength and swing speed. The 2013 Easton S1 is well balanced and recommended if you have average strength and swing speed.
Tyler
When are you going to get the 31" 21 oz. model again? snooki
Unfortunately, we do not have a firm ETA as to when we will receive more 31" 21 oz. models of the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1. It will probably be another 2-3 weeks.
Tyler
What size do I get for my son who is 9, 95 lbs. and about 4'8? Batman221
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 30" 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth.
Kara
I am sorry if this is a stupid question but what is the difference between a contact and a power hitter? ACH
A contact hitter will typically have slower bat speed and is more of a line drive type of a hitter. A power hitter has good bat speed and will be stronger. The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is an end loaded bat and is better for a player with quicker bat speed.
Kara
What do you think is better, the Easton XL1 or Easton XL2? My son is 12 years old, 5' tall and 100 lbs. He is now swinging the Combat B4. bill
The Easton XL1 will be higher performing because it has a composite barrel, whereas the Easton XL2 has an alloy barrel.
Damon
I am 13 and 5'5" and 120 pounds. I hit for power in Little League and used the XL1. Will this bat be a good match? littletoof
Since you are a power hitter and have used the Easton XL1 in the past, I think the 2013 Easton XL1 Youth would be a great fit. With the height and weight you provided, we suggest a 32" 22 oz. model.
Chad M.
What is the difference between YB11X1 and YB13X1? Any changes or addition to the newer model? SHSH
The 2013 Easton XL1 uses upgraded composite in the handle of the bat, which helps durability and sting reduction. Color scheme is the only other difference.
Brandon
I'm 5'1" 105 lbs. and a power hitter. What would be a good size bat for me? Which would u prefer a DeMarini CF5 or the Easton XL1? little14
Since your a power hitter, we suggest that you use a end-loaded bat. The 2013 Easton XL1 would be perfect. With the height and weight in which you provided we suggest that you get the Easton XL1 in the 31" 21 oz. size.
Chad M.
Would this be a good choice for my son? He is a power hitter and swings the Louisville Slugger Genesis. Hitter13
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is an end loaded bat, great for a power hitter.
Kara
I'm 5'3" and 105 pounds. Do you think that I should get 32 inches, 22 ounces, or 31 inches, 21 ounces? mickey
Based on your size, a 31" model of the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 would be recommended.
Tyler
I am 5'0" and I weigh 90 pounds. Is this a good bat for me? thomas
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 is a great bat for a player who has good strength and swing speed. A 31" model is recommended based on your size.
Tyler
I'm 5'2" and 135 pounds. What size do you recommend for me? homerun hitter
Based on your size, a 31" model of the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 is recommended.
Tyler
I'm 5'3" and 100 pounds. Should I go with the 31" 21 oz., or the 32" 22 oz.? Michael
I would recommend the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth in a 31" 21 oz. for a player your size, according to the Bat Coach on our website.
Frank
I can hit well with heavy bats. Would this be a good choice for me? Michael
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is an end loaded bat, perfect for a power hitter.
Kara
My son is 10 yrs old, 4'8" 75 lbs and currently uses a Demarini Vexxum 30" 19oz. He hits line drives and is looking for more pop. Is this bat best or the S1? dawgfan
If your son has above average strength and swing speed, the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 would be recommended due to its end loaded design. If he has average strength and swing speed, the 2013 Easton S1: YB13S1 would be recommended due to it's lighter and more balanced design.
Tyler
When do you expect the 32" 22 oz. version of the Easton XL1 to be back in stock? Baseball guy 13
We are currently out of stock with the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat. We will look to receive a new stock of these bats in 2-3 weeks. If you wish, you can place yourself on our out of stock contact list, and we will contact you once we get this bat in stock.
Robert
I know you recommend XL1 for power hitters ans S1 for base hit kids, but is one bat better than other overall? I would get the S1, but worried it will take away the power he does have. Ge hits line drives with a 30/19. all his friends have XL1. dad
When choosing between the Easton XL1 and Easton S1, it all comes down to the player and their strength and swing speed. Overall, one is not better than the other.
Tyler
Is the Easton XL1 the top of the line bat? sms325
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is part of Easton's top of the line series.
Kevin
Do you make an Easton XL1 32" 20 oz.? mom
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is not available in a 32" 20 oz. The 2013 Easton S1: YB13S1 Youth is available in a 32' 20 oz.
Kara
I am 11 years old, 5' 0" and 73 pounds. What is better for my size, the S1 of the XL1? I am pretty strong, so I could probably swing the bigger bat. I also wish to know the best size and weight for my size. Benny
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is an end loaded bat with a -10 length to weight ratio, while the 2013 Easton S1: YB13S1 Youth is a balanced -12. If you'd consider yourself a power hitter, and you're strong for your age, the XL1 would be a good option for you. Based on your size, we recommend a 30".
Katie
My daughters are about 5' 7", 15 years old, built and in my opinion, very strong. Since I don't know much about this subject what bat would you recommend for them? Mom
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is intended for use in baseball. We recommend a fastpitch softball bat, such as the 2013 Easton FX1: FP13X1 Fastpitch, for strong 15 year old girls. Based on their size and age, I'd recommend a 33".
Katie
Is this a two-piece bat? llama baseballer
Yes, the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is a two-piece composite design.
Frank
I'm wondering if i should get the Easton XL1 or the DeMarini CF4. I am 12 years old, 5'4", 120 lbs, and I am a power hitter. ZackAttack
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat features an extended barrel and has an end-loaded barrel also. It is a good option for a strong hitter. The DeMarini CF4 is a discontinued model, but it has been replaced with the CF5. This bat has a more balanced swing weight. So the Easton may be a little more suited for you.
Robert
I'm a power hitter that is 4' 10" and has failed in power lately but I'm getting base hits. Should I use thee Easton Speed Series or Easton XL Series. Also what size should I use? Tlhitter
The 2013 Easton XL1 is more for a power hitter. Since it has a slight endload to it I would stay away for it. I would go with the Speed Series. The Easton S1 Youth would be perfect for you in the 30" 18 oz. size.
Chad M.
I am 12 years old. What size XL1 would be best for me? ZackAttack
Generally, for a 12 year old player, I would recommend going with the 31" 21 oz. model of the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth.
Marcus
is the bat 2 5/8 or not sonny
This bat has a 2 1/4 inch barrel diameter. Here is the link to view more details on this model. http://www.justbats.com/product/2013-easton-xl1--yb13x1-youth/15958/
Derek
My son is 9 years old with decent power. Trying to decide between the Easton XL Series and the Easton S3. What would you recommend? teamdad
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth is an end loaded bat. It is best suited for a power hitter. The Easton S3 is a balanced bat, best suited for a player who needs to increase their bat speed.
Kara
My son is 55" tall about 90 lbs. He previously used the XL3 30" 19 oz., but I was thinking if I got him the XL1 29" 19 oz. that he could still have power and this will let him control the end of the bat a little better. Am I correct in this? Stace
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat will offer your son a bit more control over his bat because it is a lighter swinging bat. Another good option, would be to switch to the Easton S-series bat, like the S3. They offer a more balanced weight bat instead of the end-load like the XL-series.
Robert
My son just got this bat. Taking it to a commercial batting cage voids the warranty. What would be an equivalent wood bat that he could take to the cage so he can get some practice swinging this weight? He has a 31" Finn
The MaxBat Pro Series Maple Wood Bat: Youth bat would be a good option for batting cage use. It's one of the lighter youth wood bats on the market, but the 31" model will still weigh about 3 oz. heavier compared to a 31" 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1.
Tyler
I'm confused and I have a few questions. My son is 10 years old, 85 pounds, and he does have a pretty quick bat. He takes a lot of batting practice and does face pitchers that throw pretty hard. His BP takes place mostly in an indoor batting cage where it is above 60 degrees with real leather wrapped baseballs. He has dented the S3 three times in the last 4 months. Obviously, the S3 is not working out, but I read that the XL1 may be more likely to break in the colder weather if we play in the fall. Because the S3 is damaged, he is using a cheaper Easton bat from a couple of years ago, and it seems more durable than the newer more expensive ones. Why? Which model do you recommend as far as performance and durability? Also, is there a cheaper bat you recommend for batting practice that has the same weight distribution so he doesn't damage the game bat that you are going to recommend? Jeff
The S3 youth is made from a high performance alloy and is designed for youth players. If your son is denting a youth bat, he may need to consider moving up to a senior league (youth big barrel) bat, as they are designed for the increased stresses of larger kids. Finally, I'd take a look at an Easton Reflex for a cage bat, they are a great cage bat.
Kevin
I am a 5'4", 130 lbs, 11 year old power hitter. Currently I have the 2012 Easton S3. I am strong for my age. I am currently deciding between this and the Louisville Slugger Attack. Which bat would you recommend most and in what size. baseballismypassion
At your size a 31" bat would be best. The 2013 Louisville Slugger Attack and the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bats will be very similar. Both will be two-piece fully composite designs. The Attack will be very balanced and the XL1 will have a barrel heavy feel to the swing weight. If you are a true power hitter I would go with the Easton XL1.
Brandon
Is the DeMarini CF5 better if you want a balanced amount of power? But also a light, composite bat? joey
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat and 2013 DeMarini CF5 are designed similarly. They both will feature two-piece fully composite designs. The CF5 will be much more balanced in swing weight. The XL1 will have a barrel heavy, end load to the swing weight. If you want a bat that will help with bat speed, plus power, go CF5.
Brandon
My son has a 17 ounce Surge. Would it be a good idea for him to switch to a 19 oz. XL1? Brian
If he can easily get the 17 ounce Surge around a 29" 19 oz. 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth would be great for him. Have him hit some tennis balls first to make sure he likes the feel of the bat.
Noah
I'm about 5' 5" and weigh 110 lbs. I'm swinging a 31" 22 oz. Combat B3 in travel ball. What would be the right size for me? jjVSA
You should get the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth in a 32" bat.
Noah
What is this bat's break-in time, and how should you break it in? Xl1's Rule!
For our recommended break-in process, for composite bats like the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth, check out this video: http://www.justbats.com/blog/index.php/3789/breaking-in-your-composite-baseball-bat
Mac
Should I get this bat or the CF5? aaron
Both bats are great. The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat will have an extended barrel design and an end loaded swing weight. Power hitter's really love this model.
Brandon
What's the difference between the Easton XL1, XL2, and XL3? Cheeto
The Easton XL1 is a two-piece composite. The Easton XL2 is two-piece with a composite handle and alloy barrel. The Easton XL3 is a one-piece alloy.
Damon
Will this bat help me get the ball out of the infield because I need a new bat to hit some bombs? Nevada Gunslinger
The Easton XL1 Youth model is a two-piece end loaded bat. It is designed more for a power hitter and will definitely help you hit more bombs.
Damon
How is this bat different from the Omen in performance? superman
The 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bat will have the same design as the Omen. Both will perform similarly and require a period of break-in. The XL1 will feature a newer composite that should more durable.
Brandon
Why was this bat discontinued? Tory
The 2013 Easton XL1 (YB13X1 Youth) bat was discontinued due to the newer version being released for 2014.
Brandon
My son is 52" tall and 64 lbs. What would be a good bat for him? I would like to get him the XL1 30" 20 oz so that he could grow a little into it. He has good bat speed and power right now. I'm thinking he could choke up. AaronA
For a player of his size, our bat coach is recommending the Easton XL1 Youth Baseball Bat (YB13X1) in a 29" 19 oz. model. You certainly could try the 30" 20 oz. model as well.
