Description

New for The next generation of Power Brigade has arrived. Now in its second season, this groundbreaking line of bats is unlike anything else on the field today. The concept is simple: Help players hit for power. However, Easton realizes that different players achieve a powerful swing in different ways. That's why the Power Brigade is divided into two distinct series - the XL Series (XL1, XL2, and XL3) and the Speed Series (S1, S2, and S3). The XL Series is designed for bigger, stronger hitters who derive their power from a bat with more mass. Smaller length to weight ratios, and an extra-long barrel with a massive sweet spot and a slight end load characterize the XL Series. The Speed Series, on the other hand, helps players increase their swing speed in order to generate more power. These bats feature lighter length to weight ratios, a lower M.O.I., and a balanced feel. Further trying to equip players with their perfect bat, Easton offers all of its Power Brigade bats in a two-piece IMX Composite/SIC Black Carbon design (XL1, S1), a two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Scandium Alloy hybrid design (XL2, S2), and a one-piece THT Scandium Alloy design (XL3, S3). Two of the highest performing materials ever used on a bat, Easton's patented IMX Composite optimizes the sweet spot for maximum performance, while their THT Scandium Alloy provides solid durability and allows for a larger alloy sweet spot than is seen anywhere else on the field. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology, and you've got a line of bats that can't be topped. Easton: Personalize Your Power! The XL2 is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp. It is backed by Easton's Exclusive 400 Day Manufacturer's Warranty. Pros: Very well balanced, good pop with two-piece composition that likes feel of aluminum barrel and great sweetspot. Overall, an awesome bat that can be swung with authority. Son briefly used an Easton XL model last year in a -10 and it was way, way too top heavy. It's also very cool looking...

Cons: None.

Pros: I had brought this bat to the batting cage 2days ago and I also tried the XL1 too but this bat is less end loaded and with the aluminum design I was able to send the ball back to the machine faster than the pitch came. Satisfied 100? completely the ball flies off the bat! Reccomend this bat to anyone who wants to crush the ball great job easton

Pros: Needed a 2 1/4 inch barrel for Babe Ruth. Coming off using Big Barrel bat. The pop on this bat was great. Feels like ball jumps off this bat. Pop flies seem to be traveling an extra 15-20 feet. I am more of a doubles hitter and hit my first and second HR with this bat in the matter of 3 games.

Cons: I've chipped/smudged the graphics almost right away. Pop is unaffected.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton XL2 Youth Baseball Bat: YB13X2? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My son is currently using the 2012 XL3. He likes the balance and pop that it produces. I was going to upgrade to the XL2. IS the balance / pop any different in the XL2? If I get same size/weight is there going to be any big differences -- I'm tring to reduce the sting but keep the same pop and balance. Coach Frank
The 2013 Easton XL2 will have similar balance and pop to the 2012 model. The biggest difference is the new SIC Black Carbon Composite in the handle that will give the 2013 XL2 a little better durability.
Tyler
What's the difference between the old XL2 and the new one? FLbaseball
Both the 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth and the 2012 model will still be made exactly the same. The 2013 Easton XL2 will be made from materials that are a year newer.
Brandon
So they have the same amount of pop? Which bat would you rather recommend? FLbaseball
They both will have excellent pop. The 2013 Easton XL2 will be a little more durable.
Kara
Do u recommend the new Easton XL1 or Easton XL2? Justin
The Easton XL1 will be Easton's top of the line two-piece full composite. The Xl2 is going to be the best two-piece hybrid design. Generally composite barrel bats will out perform alloy.
John
What are the new materials? FLbaseball
The 2013 Easton XL2 will feature the same THT100 aluminum in the barrel as the 2012, but the 2013 will feature the new SIC black carbon composite handle.
Tom
Which is more end loaded, the XL2 or the XL1? FLbaseball
Both the 2013 Easton XL2 and XL1 are end loaded the same.
Nick
Hi, I plan to purchase this bat. But first I need to make sure it is labeled BPF 1.15. I have no idea what this means. I Guess this makes it ok for use in Little League? Thank you. Tam
Yes, the 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth bat will have the updated stamps and markings. The BPF 1.15 is located on the USSSA stamp on the barrel of this bat.
Brandon
What is the coldest temperature to use this bat? Pgy
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth has an alloy barrel and does not have temperature restrictions. However, any type of bat use in extremely cold weather can become damaged.
Kara
Which will be more balanced, the XL1 or the XL2 FLbaseball
Both the 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth, and 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X1 Youth bats will have a slight end load. All of the Easton Speed Series bats will have a balanced feel.
Doug F.
I was told to get my son the following bat: 2010 Easton Speed bat. it is green and white. the grip is white. the letters "speed" are in white on bat. i would buy him a 30 inch 19 weight in that. I am having a hard time finding that. Is this the new comparable bat? Kim
The Easton Stealth Speed is an older model. The most comparable bat currently on the market is the Easton S1 as it is also a two-piece, full composite bat.
Tyler
Is this bat composite? Alex
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth has an alloy barrel and a composite handle. It will not require a break in period.
Kara
What is the difference between the XL2 and the XL3 other than being 1 piece versus 2? Are they weighted differently? Jeff
The XL2 is a two-piece bat with an alloy barrel an composite handle. The XL3 is a one-piece alloy bat. Both have the same feel with an endloaded design.
Tyler
Considering the Easton XL2 YB13X2 youth or the Youth DeMarini Voodoo. Use is for Little League. My son is 5'1", a little of 105 lbs. 10 yrs. old. Above average hitter. What are your thoughts? Patrick
Both the 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth and the DeMarini Voodoo bats will be similar in performance. They both are two-piece bats with a composite handle and alloy barrel. They are both end loaded, perfect for a contact hitter with some power.
Kara
My son is 4'7", 70-75 lbs. and 12 yrs old. What bat weight and length do you suggest? He is more of a contact hitter then power hitter. skindog
Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 29" 18 oz. model in the 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 youth bat.
Aubrey
Is this bat ever available in 31" 21 oz. model? Jack
No, the Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth bat is a -11 and therefore would be a 31" 20 oz. model.
Aubrey
My son is 12 yrs old 5'6" 105 lbs. What bat weight and length would you recommend? DPP
Based on his size, a 31" 20 oz. model of the 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 is recommended.
Tyler
My son is 10 years old 4' 10" and about 65lbs what size bat would you recommend he use? He's a consistent hitter but not a homerun hitter he plays in the Bronco division. J.P.
Based on his size, a 30" model of the 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 is recommended.
Tyler
Whats the difference between the XL3 and the XL2 in performance? Sean
Both the XL3 and the 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth have an alloy barrel, so they will be similar in performance. The XL3 will be stiffer because it is a one piece bat, better suited for power hitter.
Kara
Does the bat lose effectiveness when used in temperatures below a certain degree? What is its general lifespan? Jim
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth can be used in colder temperatures. Normally they will last approximately a year.
Zach
What is the difference between the XL2 and XL3 besides the price price? kali
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth bat is a two-piece hybrid design, with a THT100 Alloy Barrel, and a SIC Black Carbon Composite Handle. This bat will flex during a player's swing causing a whip-like action. The 2013 Easton XL3: YB13X3 Youth bat is a one-piece THT100 Scandium Alloy Design. This bat will have a stiffer feel and less flex during the player's swing.
Doug F.
What is the typical break in period for the xl2, and what is the recommendation for use with pitching machine balls? Jon
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth has an alloy barrel and will not require a break in period. It can be used with any type of pitching machine balls.
Kara
is this a bat for a big strong guy homerun
The XL2 is definitely geared towards the power hitters, because it features an extended barrel and swe spot. Here is the link to view more details on this model. http://www.justbats.com/product/2013-easton-xl2--yb13x2-youth/15956/
Derek
Which bat has the most pop? XL2/XL3/S1? Danny
The difference in the 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth bat compared to the 2013 XL3 or the 2013 S1 will be the materials used to make the bat and also the swing weight. The XL-Series will be more of an end loaded bat compared to the S-Series. That means it will have a more barrel heavy feel that power hitters typically like. The XL2 will be a two-piece bat with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. The XL3 will be a one-piece bat. It will be all alloy material. Neither bat will require a period of break-in. The S1 will be a two-piece very balanced bat. The swing weight will feel lighter than the XL-Series. The S1 will be 100% composite material. It will require a break-in period of 100-200 swings. Soft toss or tee work will be fine before you take it into game use. Make sure and work over the entire barrel.
Brandon
What is the difference between the XL2 and the 2013 Convert? Nick
The alloy used in the Easton XL2 is higher in quality, and will offer more pop, and better performance compared to the Easton Convert. The XL2 will also be slightly more end loaded than the Convert will.
Noah
Is there a major difference from this bat and Easton S1 YB 13S1? My son is playing little league this year vs USSSA. He used the S3 big barrel 28"18 oz last year, but it is not little league approved and he has outgrown it. He's almost 10 years old, 52" and 93 lbs, a power hitter. Any recommendations? The 3 bats we've been looking at are the XL3, XL2 & S1??? Thanks BallMom
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth bat is a two-piece hybrid with a composite handle and alloy barrel. It features an extra long barrel with a larger sweet spot and is slightly end-loaded. The 2013 Easton S1: YB13S1 Youth bat is a two-piece full composite featuring a balanced swing weight. If your son enjoyed the bat he previously used, there is a version of that bat for older players made by Easton also. It is the Easton S3: SL11S310 Senior League. This bat is a one-piece full alloy with a balanced swing weight. Power hitter typically use one-piece bats, they also tend to use the alloy versus the composite. The two-piece composite bats provide flexibility in the handle and assist the batter with generating added bat speed and power.
Robert
My son used an 30/19 Easton speed last season and wants to switch to the XL2 or XL3 . He doesn't like the thin handle on the S1. He is 4'11 and 94 lbs. He hit for average and power last season. Which bat do you recommend? John
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth is a two-piece bat and will feel more like the Easton S1 but is will be more end loaded. The Easton XL3 is stiffer and is better suited for power hitters.
Kara
My son used a DeMarini CF5 last year and did excellent! He needs a bigger bat this year and would like to get an Easton. What Easton bat(s) is most comparable with the CF5? BaseballMom12
The 2013 Easton S1: YB13S1 is a two-piece composite bat like the 2012 CF5. The Easton S1 will be more balanced than the CF5. The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth is slightly end loaded, better suited for a player with some power.
Kara
Would this bat be okay to use in under 50 degree temps? con
In general, we would not recommend that you use any bat in temperatures 55 degrees and below.
Marcus
What is the difference between the XL2 and XL1? Rubb
The Easton XL1 is a two-piece full composite bat. The Easton XL2 is a two-piece bat with an alloy barrel and composite handle.
Tyler
I'm trying to decide on three bats. All are Eastons. 2013 XL2, 2013 XL1, and 2013 S1. I'm 11 years old and 57 inches. I am strong and drive the ball. I am looking to move to a 31 inch bat. What bat would you recommend for me? I am leaning to The Easton 2013 XL1 but what do you think will fit me best and can you recommend the length of the bat? Right now i use a 30 inch. Got Baseball Swag
This is a difficult question for us to answer as much of the decision comes down to the personal preference of the player and what bat type of bat they have used previously. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate. Our Bat Coach is a great tool to help determine bat size: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Tyler
Is this a good bat for a 12 year old leadoff hitter who is playing AAU? I am 4' 10" and 84 pounds. What is a good weight and height? How does this bat compare to a Easton S1? I am a hitter with decent power. How long does this bat last? How long does it take to break in? Are there any things that i should or shouldn't do to this bat? Matt
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth is a two-piece end loaded bat with an alloy barrel and composite handle, while the 2013 Easton S1 two-piece 100% composite bat. For a contact hitter, I would recommend going with the 2013 Easton S1 Youth in a 30" 18 oz. model.
Marcus
What is the temperature that the bat can perform in? t-dog
I would not recommend using the 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth in temperatures lower than 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
Kevin
My sons first year in little league at age 10, he is catching on quick and loves it! Looking to get him the perfect bat for him to build confidense. He is on the smaller side, I would say about the size of a 9 year old. His batting speed is slow also. Looking at the XL2 or XL3 or S3 bats. 28 or 29 inch between 16 and 18oz. What would you reccomend please? J.CORTEZ
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth and the 2013 Easton XL3 Youth are end loaded bats, better suited for a power hitter. We recommend the 2013 Easton S3 to increase his bat speed.
Kara
My son used the S1 28" 16oz. last year and did well. Do you think this bat in a 29" would be too much bat? He is 4'6" tall and weighs 71lbs. dan
I thing using the 2013 Easton XL2 in a 29" 19oz. is going to be too heavy. That would bring him up 3 ounces and have him swinging an end loaded bat. You should just get the Easton S1 is a 29".
Noah
My son played 9U PONY with a 28" 18 oz. Easton Surge. He's playing Little League now and has to use a 2 1/4" bat. How does the balance of the XL series compare to the Surge? BRod
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth is an end loaded bat compared to the Surge's slight end load.
Kevin
My son used the Easton Surge 29-16 last year. He is turning 10 in May and is approximately 75 lbs and 55 inches. He hits for power and average. Of the Easton bats XL1, XL2, XL3, S1, what would you recommend? Jimmy
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth replaced the Easton Surge. If he has been successful with the Easton Surge, we recommend using the same type of bat like the 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth.
Kara
Hi my son uses a 28" 17 oz. Easton Covert, has a very balanced swing. I'm looking at the x2 what do you recommend Gman
Even though the Easton XL2 is a great bat, it it end loaded. It is not balanced and could throw you off a bit. I would say that the 2013 Easton S2 would be like the Easton Convert.
Chad M.
My son is 9, 4'1" 58 lbs. He is using an XL2 Big Barrel, he has to use a 2 1/4 barrel for Little League. I am considering the Easton S1. He isn't big, makes great contact, but size limits his "power" somewhat. Is the Easton S1 the right choice? Not sure I get the full difference between the end load and full balance. I was going to get the Easton S1 -12. Any thoughts? Schultzy29
An end loaded bat such as the 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth will have more weight at the end of the barrel. This type of bat is better for a power hitter. The 2013 Easton S1 is a very balanced bat and it better suited for a player who needs to increase his bat speed.
Kara
I use the 2012 Easton XL3 would you recommend this bat? I also really liked the XL3. ryan
I would go with the 2013 Easton XL2 Yout., It is a two-piece bat which will cut down on the stinging and will have a flex to swing that will add bat speed.
Chad M.
My son is 9, 4'9" and 105 lbs. and currently uses an Easton Rival 31" 18 oz. bat. He makes great contact and can drive the ball to all fields. Which Easton bat in the XL or S-Series would you recommend? Lefty
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth bat would be a great option. It requires no period of break-in and will add some power to his swing because of the end loaded, barrel heavy swing weight.
Brandon
I just bought an Easton 29" 18 oz. Power Brigade. How are the reviews on this bat? gary
The only change between the 2012 and 2013 Easton XL2 was the composite handle. The reviews have been great on the XL2 both years now so you cannot go wrong with this bat.
Noah
Can my son use this bat in the Intermediate Division of Little League? don
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth meets all requirements for play in the Intermediate Division.
Kevin
My son 47" tall and weighs 60 lbs. and is not very strong for his age. I am looking to get an Easton bat. Any ideas? Yaz
For a player his size, I would recommend going with the 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 Youth. The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth is end loaded, so it is going to feel heavier than the S2.
Marcus
My son is a good contact hitter, with a strong swing. He is 4'5" and 71lbs on a U10 team, what length and weight would you recommend? spwindows
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth bat and other youth bats would be good for your son in a 29". You could go up or down 1" if it is more comfortable for him.
Robert
My 9 year son is 3' 11" and 74 lbs. We are looking at the S3 big barrel 2 5/8" -10 in a 29" 19 oz. Do you think that is a good fit for him? BigDog
The 29" Eason S3 will be a perfect fit for your son. He could go down to a 28", but with the balanced feel of the S3 he should have no problem swinging a 29".
Noah
My 10 year old is 5' 0" and 105 lbs. What size and bat would you recommend? JR
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth in a 30" would be a the recommended size, based on his size and age. The XL2 is a very popular option. It's a two-piece design with a composite handle and alloy barrel, and a slight end load.
Katie W.
Why can't this bat be used in weather under 55 degrees? cf12
We do not recommend using any bat, including the 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth, in temperatures below 55 degrees Fahrenheit because the bat becomes more susceptible to cracking or denting. At those temperatures, the ball becomes much more dense and could damage the bat on contact.
Mac
Is there going to be a 2014 Easton XL2? twoman
Easton usually releases there new in November. We haven't heard yet but I would think they would stay with the very popular Easton XL2.
Chad M.
Does the bat make a "ping" sound? cobrabaseball
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth does make a "ping" noise. You can listen to an audio recording underneath the images.
Katie
Is this bat comparable to the Easton Stealth Speed XL? Riot
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth is a two-piece bat with an alloy barrel, composite handle, and an extended barrel. The current Easton bat that is most comparable to the Easton Stealth Speed XL would be the Easton XL1. Both feature a two-piece, fully composite design with an extended barrel.
Mac
What has better reviews the Easton XL1 or the XL2? TJ
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth and the 2013 Easton XL1: YB13X are very good bats. Follow this link to check out all of the reviews: http://www.justbats.com/bat-reviews/baseball%20bats~youth/#
Kara
Out of the 3 XL Series bats which one has more pop to it? Jim
The Easton XL1 youth will be the highest performing because it has a composite barrel.
Damon
Is the ConneXion piece any different on the XL2 than the XL1? Some kids on my team have a XL1 and a S2 and the ConneXion pieces look different. Ben
It will be the same ConneXion piece for the 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth and the 2013 Easton XL1. They look different because on the XL1 it is two pieces of composite connecting and on the XL2 it is a composite piece and an alloy piece connecting.
Noah
My son is 4'11" & 90lbs. He swings a 30" COMbat B3 senior for travel, but needs a Little League bat. Is the S series or XL1 a better fit and balance to what he's used to? Doc
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth is an end loaded bat. The Easton S1 is a balanced bat like the COMBAT B3.

My son is turning 9 years old. He is 4'8, 67 lbs. He used an omen 28" 16 oz. this past season that was probably a little small for him. Would an XL at 29 inches work for him or could it be too heavy? How about the Speed Series at 29" or 30" inches? aj
The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth is slightly end loaded and will feel similar to the Easton Omen. The Easton S1 is more balanced than the 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 Youth, and is best suited for a player who needs to increase their bat speed. Based on his height and weight we recommend a 29" bat.

I am 11 years old. I am 5 foot 1 and weigh 127 pounds. I was wondering what Easton bat to be using and the length I should be using? willy
Based on your height and weight, we would suggest a 31 inch bat. The type of bat you should use would be based on your preferences as a player. The 2013 Easton XL2 (YB13X2) is a great model that has a slightly end-loaded feel and a hybrid design with a composite handle and alloy barrel.
