  • Massive Sweet Spot

Description

New for The next generation of Power Brigade has arrived. Now in its second season, this groundbreaking line of bats is unlike anything else on the field today. The concept is simple: Help players hit for power. However, Easton realizes that different players achieve a powerful swing in different ways. That's why the Power Brigade is divided into two distinct series - the XL Series (XL1, XL2, and XL3) and the Speed Series (S1, S2, and S3). The XL Series is designed for bigger, stronger hitters who derive their power from a bat with more mass. Smaller length to weight ratios, and an extra-long barrel with a massive sweet spot and a slight end load characterize the XL Series. The Speed Series, on the other hand, helps players increase their swing speed in order to generate more power. These bats feature lighter length to weight ratios, a lower M.O.I., and a balanced feel. Further trying to equip players with their perfect bat, Easton offers all of its Power Brigade bats in a two-piece IMX Composite/SIC Black Carbon design (XL1, S1), a two-piece IMX Composite/THT100 Scandium Alloy hybrid design (XL2, S2), and a one-piece THT Scandium Alloy design (XL3, S3). Two of the highest performing materials ever used on a bat, Easton's patented IMX Composite optimizes the sweet spot for maximum performance, while their THT Scandium Alloy provides solid durability and allows for a larger alloy sweet spot than is seen anywhere else on the field. Throw in an array of additional world-class Easton technology, and you've got a line of bats that can't be topped. Easton: Personalize Your Power! The XL3 is BBCOR Certified and approved for high school and collegiate play. It is backed by Easton's Exclusive 400 Day Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: I love the pop on this bat. Every time I use It I hit bombs. It's very balanced for a supposed to be end heavy bat but I like it for a power hitter.

Cons: This bat broke twice on me. The first time was my fault, but the second time I hit a ball off the end and the end cap broke off.

Pros: Two of my players I work with got this bat. 1 has 4 HR's and the other is also destroying the ball. Both got called up to varsity as sophomores. If there is a better value I would like to see it!

Cons: One of them dented but not 100% sure if the cool weather had something to do with that.

Pros: I have tryed many bats and they just seem not to have as much pop. I've tryed the rip-it, voodoo,z-1000, and none come close to how the xl3 performs. First day I got this bat I took it into the cages to swing and the ball seems to just jump off the bat . With out a doubt I'm turning to Easton for lts bbcor bats.

Pros: This bad has extremely good pop. The ball jumps off the bat. The end loaded barrel is good for a power hitter. The grip is soft and feels good in your hands. Overall, the XL3 is a great bat.

Cons: The cap at the end of the bat came off after a month if using it. I was hitting during practice, and the cap flew off. This was very weird because I hit the ball more towards the sweet spot.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton XL3 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB13X3? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What's the difference between the XL3 and the XL1, which is better? Michael
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult will be a One-Piece all Alloy bat. The 2013 Easton XL1 BBCOR model will be a Two-Piece all Composite material design. Both will have an End-Loaded barrel heavy feel. The XL1 will last you longer and produce better as the fibers break-in on the composite material. The XL3 will be the hottest right out of the wrapper and require no break-in period.
Brandon
I have two boys playing high school baseball. One is about 160, strong and swings hard , a power hitter. The other is about 110 and a very good contact hitter. What bats would you recommend. Price is does not matter just want the right bat. Looking at the exogrid for the stronger one and a easton for the smaller one? your thoughts. appleman
It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate. I would look at what bats they have previously used and go from there. I can say from on-the-field experience, as well from working here, that this is the absolute best route to take.
Tyler
hi, i am currently in high school in the 9th grade. i am looking for a bbcor but i dont know if i should buy one because im not quite sure if i'll make the team and i don't want to waste money. i use my friends bat but i really want this one because he has the 2012 xl3 bbcor and i love it. please give me a few suggestions. thank you in advance. G Williams 54
If you have used the used the 2012 XL3 before and loved it, then I would absolutely recommend the 2013 XL3. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate.
Tyler
Hi,I was wondering what the differences between the original xl3 and the new xl3 are? or if it is just the new look. Juan
There were no major upgrades to the 2013 Easton XL3. Both models will feature a different look, but similar feel and performance.
Tyler
I'm in 7th grade and I have to have a -3 bat. I have good bat speed. Will the weight be a problem? I want to get a 31"/28oz. baseballboy8
Using the Bat Coach feature on justbats.com I was able to enter you age and figure out you should be swinging a bat that is 31"-32" in length. If you are not used to swinging a -3 BBCOR, I would recommend the **PRE-BOOK** 2013 Easton S3 BBCOR: BB13S3 Adult model. It would swing a little lighter than the **PRE-BOOK** 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat. The S3 will be more balanced, where as the XL3 will feel End Loaded and barrel heavy.
Brandon
Is this bat the only recommended power hitting bat? Would there be any other power hitting bats you would recommend to compare to this one? BigE
The **PRE-BOOK** 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat design is a One-Piece All Alloy design. It will be more stiff and have an End Loaded feel in the barrel. This design is typically loved by Power Hitters. The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo is a bat that is also loved by many Power Hitters. It will be a Two-Piece design though. It will feature an End Loaded barrel heavy feel as well.
Brandon
I'm 5'6 and 185lbs. I can swing a -3, which new XL series bat should I swing. Eagle13
The **PRE-BOOK** 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat would a great option for you in a suggested length of 33". I was able to determine your bat length by using the Bat Coach Feature on justbats.com. The 2013 Easton XL2 would also be a great option. Both the XL2 and XL3 will feature the end loaded all alloy barrel. The XL2 will be a Two-Piece design, Composite handle/Alloy barrel. The XL3 will be a One-Piece all Alloy model. Neither model will require a period of break-in. Both models will come with a Full 400 Day Warranty through Easton.
Brandon
Im 14 years old 5'11" and 240 lbs and have a great swing speed, is the xl3 great for me? Killerkid
If you have above average strength and swing speed, the XL3 would be a good option due to its endloaded design.
Tyler
I'm 5'4 115 lbs. and 12 years old, is this bat to heavy or just right? Bud
Based on your size, a 30" Adult BBCOR model is recommended. Unfortunately, the 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 is not produced in that size. I would recommend the 2013 Easton S3 BBCOR: BB13S3.
Tyler
I weigh 150 lbs. and I'm 5'11" tall. I am fairly strong and have good bat speed. How would I know whether to get the Easton XL2 or Easton XL3? bigddaddy
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat will be a One-Piece all Alloy model. It will feel a little more stiff than the Two-Piece design. It will have a slightly End-Loaded, barrel heavy feel. The 2013 XL2 will also have the same swing weight and slight End-Load but it will come in a Two-Piece design. This bat will have a Composite handle and an Alloy barrel. The XL2 will eliminate more sting and vibration that may travel to the hands of the hitter. Neither bat will require a period of break-in. Both bats will come with a Full 400 Day Manufacturer Warranty.
Brandon
Which has more "pop" the Easton speed series or power series? Will
Both the Easton S and XL series will have the same amount of pop. They are both high performance bats, and are made for different players with different hitting styles.
Noah
I am 5'1" and 108 lbs. I don't know whether to get a Easton XL3 or a Easton S4 bob
If you are more of a power hitter you should go with the Easton XL3. If you are more of a contact hitter you should go with the Easton S4.
Damon
If I am looking for a top heavy bat which series do you reccommend? for a 5"9 158lb person in highschool? pab
The Easton XL Series will offer some of the more end-loaded BBCOR bats on the market.
Tyler
Is the 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult really top-heavy? I would be facing pitchers that throw around 80-90 and am trying to choose between the S4 and XL3. I'm a contact hitter with power but need a fast swing. Floyd
Yes. The Easton XL3 is end loaded and designed more for a power hitter, while the Easton S4 is balanced for a contact/line drive hitter. The S4 also has a smaller 2 1/2" barrel.
Damon
I'm a power hitter and was wondering which XL bat would be be the best for me. jack
As a one-piece, slightly end loaded bat with a large barrel and extended sweet spot, the 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat would be a good choice for power hitters.
Doug F.
Is this AAU acceptable? Dori
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat is BBCOR certified and legal in AAU ball.
Tyler
Is the feel of the xl3 similar at all the the feel of the 2012 Louisville z-1000? Jayhawk
The XL3 will have a more endloaded feel compared to the Z-1000.
Tyler
I'm 14 years old and weigh 180 pounds. I'm a power hitter with great swing speed. Is the XL3 or the XL1 the best bat for me? allstar
Power hitters tend to prefer the stiff flex of the one-piece alloy Easton XL3 over the two-piece composite Easton XL1. But I would suggest using the technology that you have had the most success with in the past.
Mac
My son did very well with last years model XL3, would this model be comparable or has the bat changed for better or worse? Biggman
There were no changes or upgrades to the 2013 XL3 compared to the 2012 XL3.
Tyler
I am 5' 8" and weigh 135lbs. is this bat good for me? boobadinks
Yes the 2013 Easton XL3 should be just fine for you, The bat is made for power hitters though so if this bat does not fit your style of hitting you should go ahead and try an Easton S3 which is geared more toward a contact hitter.
Noah
What's the difference between the XL3 2013 model and the XL3 2012 model? Joe
Aside from the updated graphics, the 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult utilizes a higher grade alloy.
Marcus
Will this bat be okay for a 14 year old middle school player, with the height of 5'9" and 150 lbs? Bama
Based on the height and weight, we recommend a 32" 29 oz. model in the 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat. For further information on sizing, please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Aubrey
What is the performance difference between the XL1 and XL3? Grant
The XL1 will be Easton's highest performing bat and it will require a break-in, but after it is broken in it will stay hotter longer than the Easton XL3.
Noah
What bat would you suggest, the easton s3, or the xl3? I'm 5'8ish and 150. I'm a power hitter, and I heard that the xl3 would be be for me, but I would like to get another opinion? Ben
It sounds like the XL3 would be more beneficial for you. It is geared towards more power hitters, because of it's longer barrel and extended sweet spot.
Derek
I have a 13 year old on the small side with medium swing speed. He's approximately 5' and 85 lbs. and a cut build. He needs a drop 3. Which bat do you recommend for a contact/line drive player? dean
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult has an end loaded swing weight, intended more for a power hitter. For a contact hitter, we'd recommend a more balanced option such as the 2013 Easton S3 BBCOR: BB13S3 Adult.
Katie
I am 15 years old playing JV baseball. I don't know what series I should get or bat. I am a balanced hitter and I'm 6' tall 185 lbs. What should I do? Tommy
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat is a good bat for a power hitter. If you are a more balanced hitter I would suggest looking into the Easton XL2. It will give the best of both the composite bat and the alloy bat.
Robert
How much of an increase in pop would this bat have on the Easton Reflex? king13
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR will not be that much higher in performance than the Easton Reflex. The XL3 is for power hitters so if you are a power hitter use the XL3 and not the Reflex.
Noah
I am 16, 165lbs, playing jv baseball, and I am known as the guy that always hits bombs. Would the Easton XL3 be a good bat for me? powerman
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult is perfect for any power hitter so you would be great with this bat.
Noah
Which size bat is suggested for a 6'2" 158 lb. sophomore? ChrisGriffin
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat would be a great selection. The size for you will be a suggested 33" bat length.
Brandon
Why is the X1 higher priced then the X3 I don't understand the difference? ChrisGriffin
The 2013 Easton XL1 BBCOR: BB13X1 Adult is a two-piece composite bat which is more difficult to construct than a one-piece alloy bat like the 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult.
Kevin
I am a contact hitter that hits the gaps when I make contact on the sweet spot of my bat. Will the 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR be great for me or should I try the Speed series? josh
Typically one-piece, end loaded bats like the 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult are best for power hitters. We recommend a two-piece balanced bat like the 2013 Easton S2 BBCOR: BB13S2 Adult.
Kara
I am a power/contact hitter that weighs roughly 165 lbs, 5'10", age 17. I've swung the XL3/S1/Exogrid (all 2013 models), all of which I did fine with. Which bat would I most likely benefit from? Willie
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult and similar end loaded models are suggested for predominantly power hitters. The more balanced S1 and EXOGRID 3 are recommended for contact hitters.
Katie
Are there any differences between the Easton XL1, XL2, and XL3 besides the price and materials? Josh
The only differences Between the Easton Xl1, Xl2, and the 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat will be how they are designed and what materials are used. The XL1 is a two-piece fully composite bat. The XL2 is a two-piece half and half bat. The handle is composite and the barrel is alloy. The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat is a one-piece all alloy model. They will all have a barrel heavy end loadeded feel to the swing weight.
Brandon
I'm a 16 year old varsity player at 6'2" 200 lbs. I'm a power hitter, should I get an XL3 or XL1? Knee scrapper
Both bats are great for power hitters because of the end loaded swing weight. The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat is a one-piece all alloy model. It will have a stiffer feel that power hitters also love.
Brandon
I am a base hitter but occasionally hit bombs. I am a 14 year, old 5'7", and weigh 130 lbs. What out of the XL's is the best bat for me? awesome24
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult would make a great choice for you. Alternatively, you might consider the 2013 Easton XL2 BBCOR: BB13X2 Adult if you want your bat to have a little more flex than the XL3.
Kevin
Which is better this XL3, an XL2, or 2013 Limited Edition Voodoo? stickler
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat will be a one-piece fully alloy bat. It will have an end loaded feel to the swing weight. The 2013 XL2 and 2013 Voodoo Limited Edition will be two-piece bats. They will have a composite handle and an alloy barrel. They will also have an end loaded swing weight. All three are great bats. It just comes down to which bat design is right for you.
Brandon
What's the difference between the 2012 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB11X3 and the 2013 XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult? Jonathana10
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 features the upgraded THT100 Scandium Alloy versus the THT100 Alloy of the 2012 model. Durability has been improved between years, but both bats have an end load feel and one-piece alloy design.
Mac
What's the difference between this bat and the BB11X3? Jmann
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 has the upgraded THT100 Scandium Alloy versus the original THT100 Alloy in the 2012 Easton XL3: BB11X3. The durability has been improved between years.
Mac
I am 5' 6", 125 pounds. What weight should I use for this bat? justin4
We recommend a 31" 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat for a player your size. A BBCOR bat in that length will weigh 28 oz. For more bat sizing information, check out our Bat Coach tool: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Mac
I am a 15 year old who is 6'3" and 300 lbs. I hit mostly for power. Should I get the XL1 or the XL3? AllStar
I would lean more towards purchasing the Easton XL1. The XL1 will give you more pop, and the composite material adds in the durability to outlast the alloy bats.
Derek
Which would be better for a line drive hitter the Easton XL3, 2013 DeMarini Voodoo or the RIP-IT Prototype Air? John
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult and the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR: DXVDC Adult are both end loaded models. A line drive or contact hitter would be better suited with a balanced bat like the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult.
Katie W.
Is this bat end loaded or balanced? jamezpez
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult is end loaded.
Marcus
I'm 5'1" and about 120 lbs. I'm looking for a good BBCOR bat. I am a power hitter but have never hit it out would this be a good bat for me? NoahC
With an endloaded weight distribution, the 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 would be an excellent choice for a power hitter with good swing speed.
Tyler
Which is more end loaded the XL3 or the DeMarini Voodoo? DiamondKings
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult will have a full end load while the Voodoo will only have a slight end load.
Kevin
I'm more of a contact hitter. A 6th or 7th batter, and a kind of tiny kid. Though, I am not a power hitter, I do have good bat speed. Is this still a good bat for me? What would you recommend for me? I am 13 years old. JZ
Instead of the 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat I would look at the 2013 Easton S3 BBCOR. It will be much more balanced and easier to swing. The XL3 will have a barrel heavy feel more designed for a power hitter. Also, checkout this bat 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League. It will be very balanced at the -8 size that may suit you best.

I have been using the XL5 31" 26 oz. and it has been and excellent bat this past year. As I move forward to HS would this bat (XL3) have the same similarities as in balance and feel (top heavy or bottom heavy) as the XL5. JS
At this time I am unsure as to what the XL5 is. The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3 Adult bat is a great bat. The one-piece, alloy design will provide some good pop with the end loaded swing feel.
Brandon

I love this bat it has great pop, but it sounds like there's a pebble or a little piece of something rattling around in the barrel. It's still hitting good, but should I send it back or what? richyboy
The 2013 Easton XL3 BBCOR: BB13X3's rattle is most likely due to a small piece of adhesive inside the barrel, and shouldn't affect the performance of the bat. The BB13X3 is covered by a 400 Day Manufacturer's Warranty, should it start to affect the performance.

The difference between these models is their design and composition of materials. All of the XL Series bats have slightly end loaded swing weights. My son really liked the 2013 Easton XL3 in a drop 9 this past year. He needs to move up to a BBCOR next year. He is currently 5'8" and 146 lbs. I am not sure if we should stick with the XL3 or go with the S3 as I am concern about his bat speed dropping off with the heavier weight and was wondering if the S3 would help alleviate the decrease in bat speed? I'm deciding between the 2013 XL3 and XL2. As far as I can tell, the only difference is the XL2's composite handle as opposed to the XL3's alloy handle. Will there be any differences in pop, weight distribution, feel, barrel size etc. Between the two? Which would you recommend? jms12
No, there is no performance difference between the Easton XL2 and XL3. Both models will use Easton's THT 100 alloy in the barrel which is Easton's top performing alloy. The main difference between the two is the two-piece design of the XL2 and the one-piece design of the XL3. Both models will feature massive sweet spot with an end loaded swing weight. Between the XL2 and the XL3 it will come down to personal preference between the one-piece vs. the two-piece design.

While the XL2 will be a two-piece, half and half bat. It will have a composite handle and an alloy barrel. Neither bat will require a period of break-in. Both bats will have a barrel heavy feel with the extended barrel.
Brandon
Why does the BBCOR model not make the same sound as the USSSA? jorge
BBCOR bats have a different standard of testing which does not allow the same performance as the USSSA models. With the difference in performance, the manufacturer's will have to make minor changes in construction to make the bats approved for different associations.
John
My son has this 2013 model. I was wondering if there was much of a difference between the 2013 model he has and the new 2014 model or are they are essentially the same. Bob
Essentially they are going to be the same. Although they do work on the technology as well as the durability, generally from year to year the paint scheme is going to be the biggest change on the bats.
