Pros: Amazing sweet spot size and performance. I took my son to batting cages and I threw him a bucket using his old bat, and a bucket with this bat (demo), and he was hitting laser line-drives with this Easton XL3. I am getting him this bat for xmas!

Cons: Doesn't dent like other similar bats, but it does discolor very quickly (white composite is dirt magnet). But who cares...it's baseball!

Pros: Huge amount of pop, i would compare this bat to the old blue and white speed but with only 40 balls hit with it I can see 2 dents on it already. My son has 4 eastons from the omen to the rival and this one outperforms them

Cons: dents, if your son is a power hitter go with the senior s3

Pros: My son who's 5yo loves it, told me he'll be hitting a few dingers this year. We went to the cages as soon as we got it and he loved it. I can tell the ball is jumping off it and the balance seems to be good for him as he hit a lot of line drives. We had assessments this past weekend and all of the other coaches had to get their hands on it.

Cons: Non available.

Pros: This bat has great pop. I am very picky with the sound of the bat. If you like "ping" this isn't for you. This bat almost sounds like a wooden bat which I love. My son has always made good contact but never really drove the ball, now that he has this one he is driving the ball through the infield and hard line-drives.

Cons: The bat is white. Need I say more? It is going to mark easily. I have a bat sleeve on it right now so can't really tell.

Pros: Biggest sweet spot I've seen in a bat of this size to date. We bought 3 of them for our 8 and under team and we now have 6 total. You could spend more, but I really don't see why you would for something smaller than 28/18. Much better than the composite bats we used last season.

Cons: Grip will wear out with extended use, but aftermarket wraps are far better anyways for only $10.

Pros: My son had used a bat similiar last season and neeeded to move up bat size. This was recommended and a friend has the same bat. The boys on the team all tend to gravite towards these bats and consistly have good at bats with them. The weight and size are helping them to get their natural swing movement memorized. We are looking forward to another WINNING season.

Pros: Great pop, bigger sweet spot that other big barrel bats. Took my small (45 lbs.)5 yr old a week to get used to the weight difference but hits 10-20 ft farther than lighter, small barrel bats.

Cons: Feels heavier than listed (we got 25in-15oz)

Pros: I coach a competitive Select 7U baseball team, and we have 5 of these bats on the team. Large sweet spot produces a very live hit ball with lots of "pop". Very balanced. I've seen pretty much every Junior Big Barrel bat out there, and you can't go wrong with this one.

Pros: This is my sons first year of coach pitch. He just turned 7. He was consistently making good contact and hitting hard liners in the infield. I bought this bat in hopes it would give him enough pop to get through the infield or to the outfield. His first at bat with the new bat, he hit it in the air over 2nd base to the outfield, his furthest hit of the year. Most kids on the team now want to use his bat. I would recommend this bat.

Pros: I bought the 26/16 for my 6 year old. He ways 52 lbs. this bat has good pop and a large sweet spot. The white does get dirty pretty quick but not a concern. I would definitely recommend this bat to a bigger kid.

Cons: This bat is heavier than advertised. It weighs 18.1 oz. (weighed on a digital scale) it gets heavy during batting practice. So be prepared to grow into this bat. I weighed a couple of other bats and they were all 15.9-16.4.

Pros: This is a great bat, with lots of pop. My 7u team loves it and will continue have it be one of the most liked bats

Cons: Much different pop than the combat BUBBA bat that is composite. Wish it had just that amount of pop in an alloy but, its not even close. But still a great bat for an alloy

Pros: WOW. Excellent bat. My 8 year old son plays in a coach/kid pitch league. He hit several doubles and triples with this bat. At his last at bat for the fall season, he hit a 200 foot grand slam. I bought the bat for him before the fall season began and I worked with him in the cage 3-4 days a week for a couple of weeks before the sesaon began. I knew the way he was hitting with this bat that he was going to enjoy it ... and that he did. As a father, I thoroughly enjoyed watching him have fun playing baseball. WOW.

Cons: It takes a little batting practice in the cage to get this bat broke in and warmed up. But it's worth it.

Pros: My son turns 8 next week. He's in his first year of kid-pitch and was having trouble making contact with the thinner, heavier bats. He had one hitting lesson with this new bat, and in his first game with it he ripped a 2-out walk-off double and was the hero of the game. We call this "the magic bat" and many of his teammates use it now. He's more confident at the plate now and he loves it!

Cons: He's played 4 games with it - nothing to complain about yet.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton XL3 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: JBB11X3? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is the Easton XL3 just for coach pitch or can it be used for 8u kid pitch league? tate
The Easton XL3 is designed for coach pitch. It will have thinner walls compared to Senior League models. If you try to use this XL3 model in kid pitch then you could run into some durability issues. Take a look at the Easton S3 (SL11S310B) because it is designed for kid pitch and it features the 2 3/4" barrel and Easton's same THT100 alloy.
John
Why is this not offered in a 26" 16 oz? Douce
The Easton XL3 is available in a 26" 16 oz model. The sizes are available from 25"-28" in this JBB11X3 model. We will only show the sizes we have available.
K.B.
Will this bat be legal for 9u? DT
The Easton XL3 has a 2 3/4" barrel which some leagues may not allow. We would recommend double checking with a league official or a coach first. This bat is designed more for coach pitch because it will have thinner walls compared to a senior league model.
K.B.
so this a coach pitch bat made with thinner walls not for use in kid pitch leagues the man
The Easton XL3 is designed for coach pitch play. It will have thinner walls that will not be able to withstand the higher velocity pitching in kid pitch.
Linda
Is this bat built for kid pitch or just coach pitch? Rich D
The Easton XL3 is designed for coach pitch play. It will have thinner walls that will not be able to withstand the higher velocity pitching in kid pitch.
Shelbe
Can it be used in kid pitch at the 9u age group??? Btank
The Easton XL3 can be used in kid pitch as long as the league or tournaments allow 2 3/4" barrels. We would not recommend using this particular model in kid pitch though because it is designed for coach pitch play.
Linda
I know it says the Easton XL3 Junior Barrel is for coach pitch but what is the construction difference between it & the Easton S3? Billy Bob
The Easton XL3 will have thinner walls in the barrel comparaed to the Easton S3. The S3 because of the thicker walls will be able to withstand a higher velocity of pitches.
Linda
I know this bat is primarily designed for coach pitch but what is the construction difference between it & the S3. They both look very similar when you compare them. Ted Striker
The Easton XL3 will have thinner walls in the barrel comparaed to the Easton S3. The S3 because of the thicker walls will be able to withstand a higher velocity of pitches.
TJ
Is this bat replacing the Easton V12? Cletus
The Easton XL3 is going to be Easton's replacement for the V12. The Easton XL3 wil have a slightly larger barrel and have a slight end loaded feel compared to the V12. But, both models will feature Easton's THT100 alloy and the 2 3/4" barrel.
John
Does this bat have the words coach pitch anywhere on it? Jmrecon
No, this is will not have "coach pitch" on the bat. It is listed as a junior big barrel but it is designed for coach pitch.
John
This bat is not legal to use in the Horse or Little leagues so why are you selling 2 3/4" bats? Do you know if there are some rules changes coming about? Keith
This Easton XL3 is design for coach pitch leagues. Generally, coach pitch leagues do allow 2 3/4" barrels. This bat will feature the new USSSA BPF 1.15 stamp on the taper of the bat.
Linda
Can this bat be used in 11U competition? drarjr
I would double check with the division of competitive ball you play. Some of the governing bodies do not allow the 2 3/4" barrel which this Easton XL3 does feature the 2 3/4" barrel.
Linda
Is this bat's weight true? One of the reviews on the V12 said it was a little heavier than stated on the bat. Kevin
The weight is accurate, it's how the weight is distributed that makes it feel heavier. The Easton XL3 is going to have a slight end loaded feel.
Linda
My sons plays on a 9u trvel team kid pitch would this bat be ok to use in a 27 17 or is it only for coach pitch tp
It is designed for coach pitch, but you could probably use this in kid pitch leagues as long as the pitching is not terribly fast yet. This bat is made of a solid alloy and will give the players great pop off the barrel.
KG
What is the difference between this bat and the Easton V12? Does it have more pop, a bigger sweet spot? Charlie
The Easton XL3 is the replacement for the Easton V12. They will be very similar in performance, but the Easton XL3 is going to have an extended sweet spot compared to the Easton V12.
Shelbe
Can this bat be used in Little League or Cal Ripken Tball? Chris
Cal Ripken only allows 2 1/4 inch barrels, so this would not be legal.
Kara
Is this in loaded or a balance bat? Richard
The Easton XL series will have a slight end loaded feel. This Easton XL3 model will have the slightest end load feel out of all the XL models.
Sean
With the thinner wall will it dent if it is used with hard balls. Oates
It is more likely to dent with hard ball. I would stick with the softer coach pitch balls to extend the durablity of the bat.
Kara
What is the difference between the junior big barrels -10 and the big barrel -10 Joe
The senior league and youth models are manufactured to withstand higher velocity pitching.
Shelbe
In your opinion, would this dent too easily in a 6yr old machine pitch (32mph) league with traditional hard baseballs? If so, what do you recommend? Hairy Gilmer
This bat is made for 6-8 year old kids. This bat is more designed for coach pitch but this bat could work for that machine pitch league.
Ryan
How does the pop of this bat compare to the Cat 5, V12 and the Worth Lithium Edge? Larry
These bats all are on an equal playing field when it comes to pop. Each one has their one aluminum alloy technoloy. I would put this at the top as one of our best sellers. The Easton XL3 is replacing the Easton V12 from last year.
Ryan
You said this bat is end loaded. How much does the end load weigh? Brian
This will be less than an ounce difference in weight. The end loaded feel will add power to the hitter.
KG
My son is 9 and is playing in his first year of kid-pitch ball. Is this bat designed to hold up to this or is it only for coach-pitch? Dad
No, this bat is designed specifically for coach pitch and shouldn't be used in kid pitch. If you are wanting similar then take a look at the Easton S3 (SL11S310B) model. The S3 is very similar to the XL3, the difference is that the S3 is designed for kid pitch.
Kara
Is this a Coach pitch bat ? What is the difference with Junior vs coach pitch? Looking for a 2 3/4 bat- 10 for 8U and can use for kid pitch next year. Thanks coachdad
This is more designed for coach pitch leagues due to the thinner walls. Junior Big Barrel and Coach pitch bats are very similar, but most leagues and tournaments will not allow bats to be stamped "coach pitch." The Easton XL3 is not stamped as "coach pitch" but is designed for it.
KG
what about 10 year olds would this be a good bat and hold up for my boys bird
The Easton XL3 JBB11X3 is going to be more designed for coach pitch. For kid pitch I would recommend taking a look at the Easton S3 (SL11S310B ). The SL11S310B will have a 2 3/4" barrel just like this XL3 but will be more designed for kid pitch.
Shelbe
how does this bat compare to the miken rzr? hotrod
The JBB11Xl is a one piece bat that is constructed for coach pitch. The difference between bats that are designed for Coach Pitch and Kid Pitch is that the Junior Big Barrels will have thinner walls and won't be able to handle the higher velocity pitching. The SLRZ10 is constructed more for kid pitch but can be used in Coach Pitch.
Shelbe
What are the differences between Junior league and Senior league big barrell bats? nick
Junior Big Barrel bats are designed for coach pitch play only because of the thinner walls. Senior League bats can be used in Coach Pitch all the way to Junior High.
KB
I heard that in 2013 there must be a USSSA FINGER PRINT stamp. Does this bat already have the "finger print" stamp? MC
This Easton XL3 Junior Big Barrel bat will have the USSSA Finger Print stamp on the barrel making it good for use in 2012 and2013. You can view this stamp in our additional photos to the right of the large image.
Robb
Which bat would you rate as having more pop. Easton XL3 or TPX Omaha Jr. Big Barrel? Mattells.
These are both good Junior Big Barrel bats. The bats have very durable alloy barrels and will have large sweet spots. Either one of these will be good choices.
Kris
Hi - I'm curious what ounce would you recommend for a 7 1/2 yr old, I like the reviews on this bat. My son is taller than average, and about 58lbs. Hotmama
It's difficult to give a 100% accurate recommendation, but a 7 1/2 year old who weighs around 58 pounds would be best suited with a bat around 29 inches between 17 and 19 ounces.
Tyler
Would you recommend this bat for my 6 year old son? He is turning 7 in November but is beginning coach pitch this spring. He is currently using a Easton Speed TST12 25 inches 12.5 oz. -12.5. Would this XL3 be a major jump in weight for him? Thanks robert
It's always a good idea to move up a little in weight every year. The 25 inch 15 ounce model of this bat shouldn't be too big of a jump in weight, but it'll definitely be noticeable for him. I would recommend finding a 15 ounce bat locally and having him take a few swings with it to see how it feels.
Tyler
My son is six years old, 49-50 inches tall and 55 pounds. He plays coach pitch baseball and seems to be strong according to his older 8 year old brother who weighs 75 pounds and is 55 inches tall. What in your opinion would be a good size junior big barrel bat for him? Bradberry
Based on your son's height and weight, I would suggest going with a 28 inch bat. If he is pretty strong, I think a -10 bat would work for him to use. Our bats do come with a free return label as well, so if you do get this size and it is too heavy for him and unused, you are more than welcome to send it back for a smaller size.
Jennifer
Your q/a answers go back and forth. Is the bat legal in kid pitch as well as coach pitch? I have an 8 year old in coach pitch but not sure if its good for him next year in kid pitch. baseballmom
The Easton XL3 Junior Big Barrel JBB11X3 is for coach pitch only. The thin walls would not hold up in a kid pitch league.
Kara
Do you guys have the bat in 30 inch? Antonio_M
Unfortunately, the Easton XL3 Youth JBB11X3 is not produced in a 30" model. The largest size we have available is a 28" in this JBB11X3.
Tyler
Can this bat used in T-Ball? baseballmom2
Most leagues require a 2 1/4 inch T-Ball bat. We recommend checking with your local league official for specific rules and requirements.
Kara
Can this bat be used for machine pitch? Killer
No, the Easton XL3: JBB11X3 Junior Big Barrel should be used for coach pitch only. The thin alloy walls would not hold up to balls at machine pitch speeds.
Zach
Is the Junior bat legal for 9U and 10U USSSA tournaments or do you need to have a Senior league bat? pax
If you are playing in 9U and 10U tournaments, then a junior big barrel bat will not work for you. Junior big barrel bats are designed specifically for coach pitch leagues and will not last very long in kid pitch leagues. You will need to purchase a youth big barrel or senior league bat.
Jennifer
There are coaches that pitch harder than others. What speed/velocity does this bat perform best at? Please advise. Thank you. Dhughes
Junior Big Barrel bats are intended for pitches at or below 40 MPH. When used for hitting pitches over 40 MPH, you will see a drop off in the bat's durability.
Nick D
Do you have a 29" 18 oz Easton XL? Allendorf
The Easton XL3: YB11X3 Youth is available in a 29' 18 oz.. It is a small barrel bat. The Easton XL3: JBB11X3 Junior Big Barrel is only available in a 28" 18 oz.
Kara
What 2012 Easton bat is most comparable to the 2011/2010 Easton Stealth coach pitch bat? LondonTigerfan
The Easton S1: JBB11S1 is the most comparable to the Easton Stealth. It has a 2 3/4" barrel and uses the same IMX Composite that was featured in the Stealth. Here is a link to take a look at that bat. http://www.justbats.com/product/easton-s1--jbb11s1-junior-big-barrel/15316/
Tom
How long can this bat be used before it loses its pop? We have had it for a little over a year now. berley
You can use the Easton XL3: JBB11X3 Junior Big Barrel until it starts to feel dead and you notice a considerable difference in performance.
Zach
How is bat speed affected by end loaded bats. Example -12 drop compared to -10 drop. Thanks. Jerry
End loaded bats have a heavier swing weight and will slow down a player's swing compared to an evenly balanced bat. That is why end loaded bats are recommended for stronger hitters with high swing speeds that can still maintain solid bat speed with an endloaded bat. A -10 will be heavier than a -12.
Tyler
Is the Easton S3 a balanced or end loaded bat? Coach Vic
The Easton S3 is a very balanced bat.
Tom
What is the best non composite senior bat on the market? nate
Currently, the Marucci Cat 5 and Easton S3 are the top two selling youth big barrel alloy bats.
Tyler
Would this bat be good for a 6 year old boy that coming from tee ball? He's 46" height and weight 40 lbs. What size would be good for him? Would you recommend another bat. Again he's starting coaching pitch. Thanks Alb
The Easton XL3: JBB11X3 Junior Big Barrel would be a great option for a 6-year-old in coach pitch. It has tremendous pop. A 27" model would be recommended based on his height and weight.
Tyler
My son is starting coach pitch he can swing a 27/18 but I think it is a little heavy. He is 43 inches tall and 41 pounds. He has an advanced skill set trying to fit him with the right bat. LSU Tiger
The Easton XL3 would be a great choice for your son. We recommend a 27" 27 oz bat for his height and weight.
Kara
My son is 5 and weight is 36 lbs. What size would be best for him? Debbie
The size is determined by the height and weight of the player. For exact sizing check our our bat coach; http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/.
Kara
My son is 9. 5'4" weighs 61# is playong first year of kid pitch, would this be a good bat for him.... 28"-18 oz?? Keith
The Easton XL3: JBB11X3 Junior Big Barrel is a coach pitch bat that is not made for kid pitch. Some other great bats I would recommend are the Easton S3: SL11S310B Senior League and Easton S2: SL11S210 Senior League.
Tyler
My daughter is starting her second season in coach pitch. She is 4 ft. 61 lbs. I thought this bat could help her hitting. Is this a good bat for her? What size would she need? Morales
The Easton XL3 is an excellent bat. We recommend a 27" 17 oz.
Kara
Hello, Which is a better bat for an advanced 6 year old playing coach pitch baseball: this Easton XL3: JBB11X3 Junior Big Barrel or the Easton V12: BV22 Junior Big Barrel? Please advise context as to why. Thanks! Justin Justin
The Easton XL3 replaced the Easton V12. It has a slightly longer barrel and it is more end loaded than the V12.
Kara
My 5 1/2 y/o is playing Pony League coach pitch, but we use the "Blue Flame" machine. Would the ball still come off the bat with some pop using the XL3? Bob
Yes. The Easton XL3: JBB11X3 Junior Big Barrel bat has very good pop and is a great bat for coach pitch. However, Junior Big Barrel bats are designed with very thin walls, so if you're using a pitching machine, there may be some durability issues. For a pitching machine league, you may want to consider a Youth or Youth Big Barrel bat which are designed to hit machines and faster pitching.

My son is on a select 8 under coach pitch travel team. He currently has the small barrel S1 28-16. looking for a Big barrel but not sure which one. He is not a power hitter. Also, we will be changing to kid pitch by the summer. So... composite or aluminum? He is small compared to the other kids. Easton...Combat...Marucci...Miken? FCA
First of all, if you want a bat he can use in both Coach Pitch and Kid Pitch, you will need to look at Senior League (aka Youth Big Barrel) bats. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate. So, if he used the small barrel S1 with success, the 2013 Easton S1: SL13S110 would be the top recommendation.

My son is 7 going into coach pitch baseball. He's 50 inches tall and 55 lbs. According to sizing charts he should be using a 29-31in bat. We went to dicks, and when he held out a 28/18 with one hand he could barely hold it. They seem too big and too heavy for him. Any suggestions on finding the right size and weight bat for him? Mike M
The 2013 Easton S1: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel will be a -12 bat so it is going to be a 28" 16oz. or a 27" 15oz. try putting him with that bat.

I'm looking for a good bat for an 8 year old that is 85 lbs and plays travel ball with coach pitch. I was trying to find the Easton Rival, but no luck. I was recommended to get 28" 18oz. Melanie
Try taking a look at the 2013 Easton S1: JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel. This bat will be much lighter, but it is a very popular bat.

I am looking for a good bat for my 7 year old son that plays coach pitch. He is 48" and weighs approximately 62 lbs. He is pretty strong for his size. What size bat would you recommend. I see this bat has some pretty good reviews. I was hoping to purchase a Big Barrel bat. Pal
With the height and weight given we suggest a 27" 15 oz. Easton XL3 Junior Big Barrel.
Chad M.
Would this be a good bat for my son whose 10 years old weighting about 110-115lbs he plays on a 10u & 11u travel team mickey
The Easton XL3: JBB11X3 is a Junior Big Barrel bat and is intended for players 8 and younger. For a 10 year old, you would want to look at Youth Big Barrel models.
