Description

***If within 30 days of the purchase the consumer is not completely satisfied with the performance of their TRU3 Bat, they are able to return it to the retailer from which the purchase was made or directly to Louisville Slugger for a full refund of the documented retail price paid.*** It's time to step up and attack the diamond, because multi-piece composite bats just changed forever! Louisville Slugger proudly introduces their new Tru3 3-piece construction composite bat suitably named the Attack. This revolutionary new transition technology strengthens the link between the barrel and handle and gives it a dramatically reduced vibration on contact. Rather than thicken the walls of our bats, Louisville Slugger inserted a 1"wide graphite band which gives the bat one of the lowest swing weights in the game. Vibration from mishits are absorbed before they reach the player's hands, allowing players to be more consistent with their hitting. The Attack is constructed from Louisville Slugger's Pure 360 Composite that uses thinner, high-strength and lightweight graphite fibers to add more layers in the handle and transition for added strength, while reducing overall wall thickness. More pop, less weight: that's the formula for better performance AND durability. With a balanced swing weight and an easy to grip 31/32 inch handle, this bat will have hitters ATTACKING the strike zone like never before! Louisville Slugger: Be the Best, or Swing the Rest! The Attack features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp and is approved for USSSA play. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

The talk on the ballfield TGeorge parent

Pros: We are so happy we purchased this bat for our 9yr old. It has given him so much confidence and he is smashing the ball. Everybody wanted to know what bat he was using when he sent the ball flying deep into the outfield multiple times. Excellent pop, and by far the best I've seen out of all the other bats used this season so far by our rec team and travel team.

Cons: none

Surprise choice SM parent

Pros: For my son's 12th birthday I let him choose among three bats: Easton S2, Demarini CF6 and the Assault. The Assault was not a bat he had asked about, but I included it in the mix only because of the 30-day trial. I didn't think he'd choose the Assault. I wouldn't have been shocked if he never tried it. But he loved it from the first swing. In fact, he never seriously considered the others. It has great, great balance and a nice, big sweet spot. The fat barrel sure makes it easy to square up on the ball.

Cons: I'm nervous about durability. When you look at the bat up close it really isn't as nicely made as the CF6.

Hittin Bombs with the Attack HTT parent

Pros: My son has the Attack and and a Voodoo. The Attack is more balanced while the Voodoo is end loaded. He seems to be able to get the Attack around faster and hitting the ball over the heads of center fielders. The bat has plenty of pop and he doesn't complain about vibrations at all. This bat is good for both contact and power hitters.

Cons: None so far. Since the barrel is a composite, the sound of the bat hitting the ball sounds more dull. Not the ping you get from an aluminum bat. But as long as he keeps hitting well with the Attack, I don't care what sound it makes.

Deadest bat in the park John C parent

Pros: None

Cons: Do you wonder why not many players use these? Because they are the deadest bat in the park on any given weekend. Small sweetspot. Ball comes off dead. You can hear the weak thud and vibration from left field. No ball exit speed.

Pros: SMOKING HOT BAT RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX! BOUGHT IT FOR MY 9 YEAR OLD AND HE LOVES IT ALONG WITH MOST OF HIS TEAM MATES. GREAT POP AND FEEL TO THE BAT. MY SON WOULD RATHER USE THIS OVER THE EASTON MAKO "NOT THE CHEAP MAKO". AS FAR AS THE SOUND OF THE BAT, IF YOU USE A COMPOSITE BAT, THATS THE SOUND YOU WILL GET. I LIKE THE SOUND MYSELF!

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat: SLAT14-RX? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What is the lightest weight this bat come in a 32"? Terrick Robinson
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL (SLAT14-RX Senior League) only comes in a -10 length to weight ratio. The -10 length to weight ratio on this model means the 32" will only be available in the 22 oz. There are other Attack models available in a -5 and -8 length to weight ratio, but this one is the lightest.

It's decision time and I can't decide between the COMBAT Portent and new LS Attack for my 10U travel ball player. HELP! MJ71923
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL (SLAT14-RX ) is a two-piece composite bat and is designed for a contact hitter. If he is a power hitter, the one-piece design of the COMBAT Portent is the better option. Both bats are very high performing.
Kara
I would get the Attack.
Jaws
Can you use rubber dimple balls with this bat? Jake
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL (SLAT14-RX) is a composite bat, we do not recommend the rubber dimple balls with composite bats.
Jackson
Is there a major performance difference between this model and last year's Attack? JimmyS
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack (SLAT14-RX) uses flex bend technology for a low swing weight and a huge sweet spot. The new three-piece Tru-3 technology helps reduce the vibration to the handle. The 2014 Attack is a top of the line bat which used the new 360 Composite for increased durability and performance than last years model.
Tessa L.
Is there a break-in period for the Louisville Slugger Attack or is it like the Easton MAKO and ready right out of the wrapper? Pete
Both the Easton MAKO and the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL (SLAT14-RX) will require a break in period in order to optimize performance.
Gary T.
My son plays on a 9U travel team. He is a big kid for his age. He is a contact hitter that can hit with power. Is this a good choice for him or would he be better with the Easton Mako? Pete
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL (SLAT14-RX) will be a good choice for your son. The two-piece balanced design is ideal for a contact hitter with occasional power.
Jackson
How long or how many hits does it take to break the bat in? dad2
We recommend around 150 swings off the tee or soft toss to fully break-in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL (SLAT14-RX) Senior League model. Make sure you rotate the barrel a quarter of an inch every 15-20 swings to break-in the fibers throughout the barrel.
John
Would you say this bat is as good or better than the Prime 915? Baller
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL (SLAT14-RX Senior League) is going to be the older model of the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915. It still uses the same composite and has the same two-piece design.
Cooper
Should I get this bat in 31/26 or the Easton XL1? Johnny Baseball
If you are more of a contact hitter, I would probably suggest the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat: (SLAT14-RX), because it will be more balanced. The 2014 Easton XL1 Senior League Baseball Bat: (SL14X15) will incorporate a slight end-load, and generally this type of weight distribution is preferred by power hitters.
Merritt
Is this bat end loaded? CJ
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL (SLAT14-RX) has a balanced swing weight.
Bobby
How does this bat compare to the CF7(-10)? BW
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SLAT14-RX) and the 2015 DeMarini CF7 Senior League Baseball Bat (DXCFZ) will be very similar in terms of overall design and performance. They are both top of the line models that will perform at maximum levels allowed within the rules.
Patrick
My son is 12 going on 13 playing travel ball. He needs a big barrel bat. He is a really good contact hitter and wants a bat that can provide a little more pop. He is 5 ' tall and weighs about 90 pounds. Currently has a 31'' bat ,drop 10. What would you recommend? Timmy
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SLAT14-RX) would be a fantastic choice for your son. The three-piece design means that it will provide more flex on contact, which can provide a whipping action that helps the head of the bat whip forward at the moment of contact, generating more inertia and power. The composite barrel (once broken in properly) will also continue to get more responsive over time, which can also help with the overall pop as well. Based on his height and weight, we recommend a 30" model.
Tessa
My son is 5 foot 2 inches, around 85 pounds. What length would you recommend? Dad2boys
Thank you for your question. My recommendation for a child that is 5 foot 2 inches and 85 pounds would be 30 inch model in the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SLAT14-RX).
Frankie
Is this bat Little League approved? john
No, the 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SLAT14-RX) is not approved for Little League due to the barrel size. Little League requires the bat to have a 2 1/4" barrel diameter.
John
I have read that the Assault has really great pop, but have not been able to find anything about the Attack. Does the Assault have more pop, but less balance than the Attack? TC
The Louisville Slugger Attack and Assault will both be very balanced and have great performance. The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SLAT14-RX) will be fully composite, while the Assault will be fully alloy. The Attack should hold its performance for 2-3 seasons. While the Assault should have great performance for 1-2.
Brandon
is the attack a better bat then the easton mako senior league ????which one has more pop to it also which will perform and last in other terms which one will be a bang for your buck ???? travelballer
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SLAT14-RX) will have the same basic construction as the Easton Mako. They will both have a composite handle and composite barrel. That being said, the Attack uses a new Tru3 technology that introduces a third piece (a stronger socket) that connects the barrel and handle with a stronger socket to give the two piece bat a more consistent feel throughout. Overall, both bats will be held to the same performance standards and ultimately, the final decision for which bat to buy always comes down to player preference.
Ben
Would this be a good bat for an almost 13 year old line drive hitter? I'm looking for a 31" 21 oz bat. Bobby
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SLAT14-RX) has a two-piece design with a balanced swing weight and is a terrific bat for a line drive hitter.
Jason
Which bat would be better for a singles hitter: the Attack or the RIP-IT AIR? brian
The 2014 Louisville Slugger Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SLAT14-RX) is a great model for a contact hitter. The two-piece design helps the bat to flex and have a whipping motion that can lead to better bat speed and more power. The 2015 RIP-IT AIR Senior League Baseball Bat (B1510B) is also a nice option because it is balanced so it has a light swing weight but it would have less flex.
Patrick
I'm looking for a good 28" -10 or -11 big barrel bat for my 8 yr old son. He is playing machine pitch this season. Aaron
I would not recommend using the Louisville Slugger Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SLAT14-RX). For players who are in machine pitch we recommend using "Junior Big Barrel" bats because the walls of the Junior Big Barrel bats are designed specifically for machine pitch leagues; whereas; "Senior League/Youth Big Barrel" bats are not. I would recommend either using the Louisville Slugger Assault Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (YBAS14-RX) or the 2015 Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 Youth Big Barrel Baseball Bat (YBO515X). Both of these bats are available in a -10.
Liz
What is the difference in SLAT14-RX and SLAT14-RR? bbors
The Louisville Slugger Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SLAT14-RX) is a 2 3/4 inch barrel. The (SLAT14-RR) is going to to be a 2 5/8 inch barrel.
Frankie
How does the 2014 Senior League Attack compare to the 2013 Senior League Attack? bubba
The Louisville Slugger Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SLAT14-RX) is going to have more upgraded materials than the and the Louisville Slugger TPX Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SL13AXL).
Allison
How many hits would you expect from this bat? Tony
There is really no way of knowing exactly how many hits you can expect from the Louisville Slugger Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SLAT14-RX). In general if you take care of the bat you can expect anywhere from two to three seasons of life. This obviously depends on how much baseball is being played in a season.

Is the YBAT14-R5 Louisville Slugger Attack legal to use in Little League 50/70? Coach Deek
The Louisville Slugger Attack XL Senior League Baseball Bat (SLAT14-RX) is going to be a 2 3/4 inch barrel that will not be legal for Little League 50/70. But the Louisville Slugger Attack Youth Baseball Bat (YBAT14-R5) is a 2 1/4 inch barrel that will be legal for Little League 50/70.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
