Description

Swing what the best college players in America swing! This is the bat that Louisville sends to their college programs and Just Bats got lucky enough to get the overruns! Now we're passing them on to you, at a great price, and for a limited time only. Since 1884, Louisville Slugger has been on the cutting edge of bat technology. Now, LS brings a new dimension in performance advantage technology to the BBCOR market. The EXOGRID 3 BBCOR model has the Flex-Band Technology. Rather than thickening the walls of bats to bring them in line with BBCOR standards, Louisville Slugger has inserted a very light one inch wide graphite band. Not only does this flex-band give the bat the lowest swing weight available in its BBCOR hybrid class, it is small enough that the sweet spot feels just like high performing BESR bats of the past. Simply put, LS BBCOR bats combine high-tech performance shells with great flex-band technology. This translates to lower M.O.I. (moment of inertia), which means a lighter swing weight and preferred feel. Combining this new exciting feature with the traditional traits that have made the Exogrid name a top selling bat for years, the EXOGRID 3 is one of the most innovative bats to ever hit the market. This bat starts out with Louisville Slugger's AC21 Scandium Alloy which is one of the most durable and responsive alloys on the market. Moving toward the handle you'll find that the metal is trimmed into a grid-like pattern and replaced with carbon composite inserts. These inserts are several times stronger than the metal they replace which gives the EXOGRID 3 not only its name, but also its unwavering durability. Inside the bat, the heart of the EXOGRID 3 can be found in the form of an internal carbon composite sleeve. This provides greater handle stiffness than alloy alone ever could. All of these parts are brought together using Louisville Slugger's EXOGRID Bi/Fusion Process, where a combination of heat and extreme pressure bond everything into a single, solid unit. Louisville Slugger: Intimidate at the Plate! The TPX EXOGRID 3: BB13EXC is BBCOR certified and legal for high school and collegiate play. It carries a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Frank Bee Frank Burton player

Pros: Just received the bat and used it for the first time yesterday. The POP on this bat is Ridiculous! It feels good in your hands and the weight distribution is perfect for a power-hitter like me. The grip is comfortable and the funky touch on the EXO lettering is very unique. I don't know if it really does anything, but it sure feels cool! I believe I'll have a great year with this bat

Cons: None at all! It's all good!

Very Solid Bat baller player

Pros: This bat has some decent pop, but what I like most about it is the weight distribution throughout. It's very even, and feels light when swinging it. Pretty good sweet spot too.

Cons: The ball doesn't exactly jump off the bat, even when you hit it perfectly square.

My 16 year old son has had tremendous success with the different EXO models over the years. He used a Triton when he was younger, before moving to the EXO Senior League, and a BBCOR model the last two years. Is there an equivalent model in this year's Louisville line up? Or, should he buy a new 2013 EXO? EXO Lover
There really is not a bat in Slugger's current product line that I would say offers a very comparable design or feel to the Louisville Slugger College EXOGRID 3 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB13EXC). The Omaha 515 likely provides the most similar feel, but it will be a more balanced bat than the EXOGRID models. Because he's used to the feel of the EXO models, I would suggest this (BB13EXC).

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
