Son loves it Scott parent

Pros: Still too new to really give a great review, but my 11 year old loves this bat. Seemed hot out of the box. Hasn't had any stingers yet on his hands. Loves the grip.

Cons: Only con is the price drop came just days after I ordered at 299.99. 249.99 seems like a great bat for the dollar.

Keep Your Receipt Shawn player

Pros: The only pros of this bat are that it has pretty average pop and that I never got stung or jammed in my hands, there was no vibration.

Cons: There are many cons to this bat. First, I had the bat and it got chipped, so I returned it for another one. I was hitting with that one for a little bit longer, but than the new also got chipped. The last bad part to this bat is that it doesn't have a good feel in your hands, and doesn't sound good when you hit with it. When you hit with the bat it sounds like a dud, or a clunky sound. Overall it was pretty bad.

so far so good... Scott coach

Pros: off the rack the bat has more pop and more balanced than our predessessor (easton S2) in which we had for 1 year and might as well been made of a marshmellow like consistency. we are 1st time louisville slugger buyers. the bat has a great feel and appears to be able to aide in having fast hands, with little to no vibration no matter where contact is made from bat to ball.

Cons: nothing yet!

Do they make a -10, 2 3/4" baseball bat in this model? dylan

Thinking about getting this bat for my son, who is 11. I would like to invest in a bat that would last him a couple of years. My question is when he goes to the 13-15 age group will he be able to use this bat? basehitter
League rules can vary depending on which one you play in. Some leagues will have barrel material restrictions on composite barrel bats like the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) that would deem it illegal for play. Also, many leagues will require BBCOR certification in the 13-15 age range. This bat is not considered BBCOR approved.
Patrick
Will they have a -8 option? yardarb
Louisville Slugger does plan on producing a -8 Prime 915 Senior League model, but I am not certain when we'll receive them. We do expect them, and the product code on our site will be (SLP9158).
Mac
What is the difference between the Prime Senior League and the 2014 Attack Senior League bat? Imoff
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) is constructed from the new 100% Performance Composite material and features an upgrade to its grip when compared to the 2014 Attack. Both bats are fully composite and offer very balanced swing weights.
Mac
Is this bat balanced? Matthew
Yes. The 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) is a balanced model.
Damon
I'm a contact hitter is this the bat for me? Also, is it end loaded? Oman
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) is a balanced design that would be great for a contact style hitter. End-loaded designs are more beneficial for power hitter types.
Patrick
Is this bat more balanced than the Easton S2? Baseballman
The Easton S2 and the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) will feel very similar in swing weight. Both are very balanced and will provide fast bat speeds.
Brandon
What's more balanced this or DeMarini Vexxum? Odog
Both the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) and the DeMarini Vexxum feature similarly balanced swing weights.
Tessa
How does this bat compare to the Easton Mako? Is it slightly more end-loaded than the Mako Comp? Should a power hitter pick up this bat over a Mako for the long ball? littleleaguepop
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) and the 2015 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL15MK9) compare very similarly in that they are both balanced, two-piece composite designs. The MAKO has a slightly longer sweet spot and a heavier drop weight. With the way the MAKO is balanced, the feel of the bats should be similar.
Patrick
Is the SLP9150 approved for Pony Baseball? Sinktip
Yes, the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 (SLP9150) would be legal for the Shetland, Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, and Pony division of Pony Baseball.
Kelby
My son is 5 foot 1 and weighs 110 pounds. He likes a balanced bat. Which do you recommend between the Louisville Prime or Easton Mako? lou
Both the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) and the 2015 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL15MK9) would be nice balanced options. They will perform at similar levels. The only major difference would be that the MAKO has a slightly more extended barrel.
Patrick
If USSSA is saying the ball will not hit off the bat faster than 1.15 BPF why would I want to pay a higher price for the Prime 915 compared to the cheaper Louisville Slugger aluminum bat? Batter Up
While it is true that, at their best, most bats with the same safety rating will perform at their best; the difference, and what you end up paying for is the feel of the bat and the durability (how long that peak level of performance should last). Premium bats like the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) have sting and vibration reduction technology and tend to last longer at their best performance compared to less expensive models.
Patrick
I am a very good power hitter. Which would be better: The Prime 915 or the XL1? baseball
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) has a balanced swing weight and is typically better for a contact hitter. The Easton XL1 has an end loaded swing weight and is typically better for a power hitter.
Jason
Is it approved for BBCOR? contacthitter
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) features the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp and is not approved for play in BBCOR.
Jason
Does this bat require break in? Bruno
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) is a two piece composite design that will require a break in period.
Frankie
How does someone break in the bat? ed
The break in for the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) is actually pretty simple. All you need to do is take 150-200 swings off a soft toss or a tee. You want to also make sure to turn the barrel 1/4" every swing. Here is a link to a great article and video that outlines how to get that bat broken in correctly: http://goo.gl/U0cQdH.
Tessa
How does this bat compare to the CF7 or the MAKO? jamaican mon
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) compares well to the 2015 DeMarini CF7 Senior League Baseball Bat (DXCFX) and the Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14MK9) in terms of performance and style.
Patrick
Please clarify this with the break-in process. The reply in the Q and A states 1/4 inch yet the video on how to break-in a composite bat shows 1/4 turn. If it is 1/4 inch, is that measured on the handle or the barrel? mjb
The amount you should rotate a composite bat like the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) while breaking it in is approximate. The idea is to just make sure that you are getting even use on the full circumference of the barrel. If you were to separate the barrel of the bat into 4 sections, you would just want to make sure all four sections get equal use. That is why we say a 1/4 turn. If you were looking at the handle for how much to rotate it, about a 1/4 inch should make the barrel turn in a similar way.
Patrick
What is the barrel like compared to the CF7 or MAKO? ron weasley
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) would have a very similar style barrel to the 2015 DeMarini CF7 Senior League Baseball Bat (DXCFX). The 2016 Easton MAKO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16MK10) has a slightly more extended barrel for a bit larger sweet spot.
Patrick
My 12 year old son is playing in Junior league this fall. Does the Louisville Slugger Prime 915 meet the Little League specs in rule 1.10? Fitz
Since the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat: SLP9150 has a composite barrel and is not BBCOR certified, it will not be legal for Little League Juniors. I would consider looking into bats that have an alloy barrel that measure 2 5/8".
Marcus
Hello, i would like to know if i can use this for highschool league baseball they have a bbcor -3 rule but the barrels are similar length, the only thing is that the -10 is not bbcor. i just want to know if i will be able to use it ? Ssnoop
The 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) does have a 2 5/8" barrel like the BBCOR's but will NOT be allowed for high school play. High school requires a drop 3 and all bats must show the BBCOR stamp.
Cameron
What are the differences between the SLP9150 and the SLP9160? BB Dad
This Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) will be very similar to the 2016 model of the SLP9160. The only real differences are the color schemes, the new grip on the 2016 Prime 916 and that Louisville has released the name of the composite technology behind the 2016 Prime 916, which is the Fused Carbon Structure Composite design.
Ben
My son is 12 and about 75 lbs. What size bat would you recommend for him? Escobar84
For most 12 year old players using Youth Big Barrel baseball bats, we would generally suggest a 30" model of this Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150). As long as your player can handle the 20 oz weight of the 30" model, I might recommend that size option of this bat.
Ben
What's the difference between this model SLP9150 and SLP915X? Just the barrel size? H
The difference between this Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) and the SLP915X will just be the barrel diameter size. This SLP9150 will have a 2 5/8" diameter while the SLP915X will have a 2 3/4" barrel diameter.
Ben
My son is 12 years old, 5'1" and about 100 lbs. He is not a home run hitter but has the swing speed to produce gap power. We are considering a bat pack with the Louisville Slugger Prime 915 and the Mizuno Generation. The main reason for the bat pack is we're not certain on the best size -- leaning toward 30/20 but wondering if 31/21 is a better fit. Will consider other makes/models, as well, but these two bats seem to be very well reviewed. Any advice? Rayo
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat: SLP9150 in a 31 inch model. The weight will really be dependent on the bat he was previously using and how he was capable of handling it. If player was struggling using this weight, then it would be best to stay at the same weight. If there were no issues, then increasing in weight 1 to 2 ounces would be the best route to take. Would recommend verifying with a local coach/instructor who has a good idea of the player's current bat speed and path.
Cameron
Is the 915 slp9150 approved for Dixie Youth Majors division? Michele
No, the Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat: SLP9150 would not be legal for play in the Majors division of Dixie Youth baseball. That division requires a 2 1/4" barrel and this particular model features a 2 5/8" barrel.
Nick
Does this bat lose pop and power over time or gain pop and power? I was wondering how long it takes to break in? elitesquad
The Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLP9150) being a composite barrel bat will become hotter over time. To properly break in your composite bat, we recommend taking 150-200 swings playing soft toss or off a tee using real baseballs. Begin swinging at 40% power and work our way up to full strength as you get closer to 200 swings.
Jake
ovet time does this bat lose pop and power or does it sustain its pop forever elitebud11
All bats lose their pop and power over time. However when that happens, varies from case to case. If the bat is taken care of well, it will typically last longer than other bats. I recommend checking out our bat care section of the bat resource guide for tips on how to keep your bat in the best shape over the long run.
Nick
Will this bat have a lot of pop through out the season? ted
The Louisville Slugger Prime 915 Senior League Baseball Bat: SLP9150 is very highly reviewed in the pop category. I can't speak to the life of a particular bat as that will vary from case to case depending upon multiple factors. For optimal bat life, please refer to our bat care page that I have provided below. http://www.justbats.com/bat-resource-guide/bat-care/
John P.
is this bat money well spent or will this bat become "dead" amd lose pop after s while. and also do you have to break it in. junior
This bat would be well worth the money. We have received very good feedback on this bat. Yes, this bat will require a slight break-in period of 150-200 swings and rotating the barrel of 1/4" after every swing.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
