Bat Crazy

Pros: I was a little worried about purchasing this bat as there was little information and reviews I could find on it. I was interested in the bat due to the light weight and balance of the bat for my 8u player. Once recieved I looked it over really good seemed to be made with good quality. Had my daughter try it out during batting practice notice her swing speed had increased and a more natural swing of the bat was taking place. The bat had good pop on it nothing outrageous but for the price of the bat you can go wrong the bat is perfect for the smaller sized girls who need bat lenght but not the heavy weight.

Cons: none

Hitters Haven

Pros: Great look solid bat, nice grip.

Cons: Bought this bat for my 9 year old daughter, but after taking a few swings it seemed 1-2 oz. heavier. The weight is more on the end than the sweet spot. Our league switched to USSSA from NSA and I was trying to find a replacement bat for the Eastern Reflex that she loved. I ended up returning the bat.

My 9 year old hits hits hits with this Louisville Mike parent

Pros: She consistently Crushed softballs so much farther than her teamates with this bat. She could hit with any bat but would like to buy another one. 3 Pack is one heck of a deal!

Cons: Only con with the way she hit was that she ended up denting the bat with her swing. For the price great bat.

Would this bat be a good bat for a 7 year old starting coach pitch softball? Do you suggest a different bat? David
Actually, the Louisville Slugger TPS Catalyst Youth: FP12CY -11.5 Fastpitch bat is a very nice choice for a 7 yr old. The TPS Catalyst has a nice balanced swing weight, so it won't swing as heavy as some of the other bats on the market. The Catalyst is designed for a youth player, so it will fit a 7 year old softball player very well.

Is this a composite? josue

My 12 y.o. daughter uses the Catalyst FP12C2 (31") as her "good" bat (and loves it). I need a similar length & weight & feel (& much cheaper) practice bat for use with pitching machines -- would this be a reasonable bat to consider for that purpose? Steve
The Louisville Slugger TPS Catalyst Youth: FP12CY -11.5 Fastpitch bat would be a decent choice. The biggest difference is that the FP12CY is going to be a youth model and it is also an alloy design versus the composite design of the FP12C2. With that being said, you are only paying $29.99 for a practice bat and you are saving the life span of her game bat.

My daughter is 12 years old, but small for her age. Would this bat be a good fit for her? She is 5' tall and weighs around 90 pounds, but she does play a lot of softball in the spring and summer, will the bat hold up? bat selection
The -11.5 should be perfect for your daughter It will be lighter for her so she can get the bat around faster. The durability with this bat has not been a problem so it should hold up for her just fine.
Noah
My daughter is 9 years old. She is 4 foot 5 inches tall and weighs about 90 pounds. What size bat would you recommend? Brutus
Based on your player's height and weight, we would suggest a 31 inch size of the Louisville Slugger TPS Catalyst Youth Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP12CY -11.5).
Patrick
My 10 year old daughter is 4' 8" and 68 lbs. What size do you recommend for her? Tony
For a player of her size, our bat coach recommends the Louisville Slugger TPS Catalyst Youth Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP12CY -11.5) in a 30" 18.50 oz. model.
Joe
My daughter is 14 and 140 lbs. What fastpitch bat does she need? mmmm
The Louisville Slugger TPS Catalyst Youth Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP12CY -11.5 may be too light of a bat for your 14 year old daughter. A -10 size would be a better option at her size. The Louisville Slugger XENO, Easton MAKO, and DeMarini CF7 are three very popular models with very high performance. About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
