Pros: This bat has a lot of pop right out of the wrapper. I would compare this bat to the Xeno or the OneX. I truly believe it might have more.

Cons: Unfornately my daughter (10u select), has broken two at the handle. It also chips easily. Sent bat back and waiting for next one, third time is a charm (maybe). Not a dependable bat.

Pros: -12 drop.

Cons: Bat has little pop in my opinion, had hoped to get more Xeno like performance but needed the -12 drop that's not offered in Xeno. It sounds dead when you hit with it, just unimpressive.

Another Broken Bat Sigmarc parent

Pros: My daughter (age 16) really liked this bat from day one. She hit better with it and she seemed to have more power.

Cons: Like many other reviewers, we have a broken bat after a very short time. We bought this bat in April, it's now June and the bat snapped in half at the handle today. My daughter was in the batting cage. After a few swings, we heard an odd sound when the ball came off the bat, the next contact sent the barrel flying and my daughter was standing there with a shocked look on her face and the bat handle in her hands.

Pros: The drop weight is good for the younger hitter to get around better.

Cons: I before had rented this bat and I thought it was pretty good. I ended up buying that bat as a backup composite for my 2013 Xeno. However, my Xeno broke in half, so I started to use the Pride bat more often. As games past, none of my hits have been strong like my experience with the Xeno. About one in a half months of use, it broke at the handle.

Does the Two-Piece design compromise the durability at all? Zack
No, the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride: FP13M2 Fastpitch bat will not have durability issues due to it's design. The Two-Piece design is created to eliminate vibration that may travel from barrel to hands. The Two-Piece design also helps provide the hitter with more bat speed when swinging through the hitting zone. This bat will be Balanced in Swing Weight. This bat is the Jessica Mendoza USSSA Pride Model.
Brandon
Is this the same composite material used in the 2013 xeno? If it is does it need to be broken in? lenny
Yes, both the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride: FP13M2 Fastpitch and the 2013 Xeno use LS-2X composite material. We would recommend a break-in period for any composite barrel bat.
Aubrey
Will this bat be legal in 2013? bnr2200
Yes, the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride will be legal for play in the 2013 season.
Noah
What is that piece that appears to be plastic or rubber in the middle? If hit their, how has it been tested for durability? Gary
The barrel and handle are held together with Louisville Slugger's new T2 Technology that dramatically reduces vibration on mishits and results in a more solid connection to give players maximum performance. The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride: FP13M2 Fastpitch bat has been tested and approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF.
Brandon
Why no reviews on this bat? It sounds like it has many good qualities for the price. Jasper 2012
The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride: FP13M2 Fastpitch is a very good bat. The new T2 technology helps reduce vibration and provides a light swing weight. Unfortunately, every player that purchases the bat does not write a review.
Kara
Can you offer a comparison between the Louisville M2 Pride and the DeMarini Vendetta? Frank
Both the Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride and the DeMarini Vendetta are two-piece fully composite designs. Here is a link for further comparison http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Aubrey
My daughter is 4'5" tall and weighs about 95 lbs. She will be 8 years old in March. I was thinking of buying her a 28"/16 oz. bat. Is this the right size for her? Carlos
It looks like the correct length for your daughter would be 31". The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride: FP13M2 Fastpitch bat does come in a -12 31" 19 oz. This bat is a two-piece all composite design with a very balanced swing weight. It is the Jessica Mendoza USSSA Pride Model.

How does this bat compare to the Xeno? Bobby
The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride is a -12 bat. The Xeno comes in a -10, -9 and -8. The Xeno bats feature S1iD Technology which gives it maximum performance from the first swing. The M2 Pride does not have this and require a break-in period. The Xeno features an iST design that gives this bat a solid connection between the barrel and handle. iST provides players a bat with a solid feel and bigger sweetspot, while absorbing vibrations from mis-hit balls before they reach the hands. The M2 Pride does not feature the iST technology.
Tyler

My daughter is 5'3" and 125 lbs. What size bat should we get? jennallys
Based on her height and weight, we recommend a 32" 20 oz. model in the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride: FP13M2 Fastpitch bat. For further information on sizing, please visit our Bat Coach at http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Aubrey
My daughter is 4' tall and 45 lbs. What length to weight ratio is best for her? I'm thinking 27" or 28" and 15oz. to 16oz? I'm looking into these bats. Worth 454 Legit Lite, Combat Lisa Fernandez -12, Miken Halo Lite, and the Louisville Zephyr? I'm looking for a high end bat with good durability and as well as a team bat. Looking for a high end bat with good durability, possibly a team bat? Tin
For your daughter's height and weight given. We suggest a 26" length bat. You could go up to 27", but I would not move as high as 28". None of the bats you listed are offered in the 26" or 27" length. When she ready for that step up all of those are great options. Bats I recommend in her size are the COMBAT Lisa Fernandez: LFFP22 Fastpitch it is a -10. It has a huge sweet spot and is a really hot bat. I really like the 2013 Worth Eclipse: FPEC12 Fastpitch it is a very well balanced swinging bat. It is approved for all league play in 2013.
Chad M.

The 30" 18 oz. model of the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride: FP13M2 Fastpitch would be the correct size for your 9 year old.

Is the M2 Pride the replacement for the Catalyst? fastpitch dad
The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride: FP13M2 Fastpitch is not a direct replacement of the Catalyst, but shares similar features. The main difference is the M2 Pride is a two-piece bat.
Kevin
My daughter is 4' tall, 60 lbs. What size M2 Pride would she need? Thanks. PAC
Based on her height and weight we recommend a 27" bat. However, she could use a 28" 16 oz. 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride: FP13M2 Fastpitch. It is very balanced and lightweight.
Kara
My daughter is 10, 125 lbs, and 5' 3". She currently uses a 33" 20oz. bat and I am looking for a new one. She is a very good hitter. Is there a particular bat and size that you could recommend? Carrie
The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride is a great bat and I would recommend going with a 32" bat. One step up from the Louisville M2 is the Louisville Slugger Xeno.
Noah
I notice that this bat doesn't have a lot of reviews. Is this bat newer or is it not purchased as much as other bats in the price range? Aaron
The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride: FP13M2 Fastpitch is still a fairly new bat. The M2 Pride performs great along with most of the other bats in the price range. I would not worry about the small amount of reviews it has.
Noah
I purchased the m2 pride and asked the league if composite bats were legal or not. This is what I got back from the coach. "Equipment: 1. BATS: Little League approved bats with the approved barrel dimensions for each specific league. Hybrid Composite bats will be allowed. The barrels must still be alloy or such. Handles will be allowed to be composite. Please defer to league specific rules regarding bats if applicable. " I am still confused on this and don't want to take the plastic off until I am sure she can use it. Can you tell me if this bat complies with the rule or not? Putz
If she is playing fastpitch softball in Little League the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride: FP13M2 Fastpitch is legal. Little League only requires fastpitch bats to have a 1.20 BPF stamp.
Kara
I am currently swinging a 33" 24 oz. Do you think the 3 ounce difference will be a drastic change? Sidney
Three ounces can be a huge change. Unless you are swinging ahead of the ball currently, your swing will be negatively impacted.
Kevin
My daughter is shorter in stature but has amazing bat speed and strength. Her hands are on the smaller side. Given these physical attributes, what bat do you recommend composite and not? Sissy C
The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride: FP13M2 Fastpitch bat and its composite material would be a great choice for your daughter. Composite barrel bats tend to hold a higher performance for a longer period of time compared to alloy barrel bats.
Brandon
My daughter swings a DeMarini Bustos, 31" 21 oz. Would a 32" 20 oz. be equal? She is 4'10" 140 lbs. This bat is not a ping bat, correct? concern
If she is struggling with bat speed the 32" 20 oz. Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride (FP13M2) is a great option. It is a composite bat and will not have the ping sound like an alloy bat.
Kara
My daughter usually swings a 33" 22 oz, and is almost 5'8. I saw the video says for smaller batters, or leadoff hitters, she is not. Do you think this bat will be suitable? Teryl
The Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride (FP13M2) would still be suitable for your daughter. If she prefers a lightweight bat this would be a great choice.
Bobby
Is this bat legal for Little League softball, majors age group? Mike
Yes. The Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride (FP13M2) would meet the Little League Softball standards for bats listed at http://www.littleleague.org/media/BatOKSBRule.htm
Patrick
What is the recommended break-in process? This is our first composite bat and we've never had to break-in a bat. MR. CLEAN
We recommend 150-200 swings off a tee or using soft toss to break in any composite bat. Start out at 50% power on the swings and slowly build up from there. Also, you will want to rotate the bat 1/4" each swing to get a nice, even break-in all around the barrel.
Kyle J.
I usually swing a 34" 22 oz. bat. I am almost 5'7". Would this bat still be appropriate for my height considering what I usually swing? Lexi
The Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride (FP13M2) Fastpitch has the same -12 length to weight ratio that you are currently used to. The M2 Pride will swing fairly similar to what you are currently using because of the -12 length to weight ratio. For more sizing information check out our Bat Coach: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Jason
Is the Louisville X12 the new version of the Louisville M2? And could you tell me the difference between the X12 and the M2? Den
The X12 would be the newest version of the Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP13M2). Between models, Slugger has improved the composite blend for a more durable bat.
Mac
I am 14 years old. Can I use this bat for my 16U travel ball team? lakin dodge
The Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP13M2) is approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF. If your league is regulated under one of the listed associations, then it will be approved for play.
Tom
Does the bat already has a nice sweet spot right of out the box? If not, how long does it take to break-in? siera gonzlaes
We recommend about 150-200 hits of soft toss or tee work with your Louisville Slugger TPS M2 Pride Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP13M2) to get it broken-in. It is important to remember to rotate the barrel a 1/4 turn every hit to make sure the barrel is getting evenly broken-in.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
