The C1C Composite is precisely layered with toughened epoxy resin to make it not only high performing, but insanely durable for a mid-level priced bat! The Catalyst is topped off with the patented Louisville Slugger End Cap that dampens vibration and traps that energy in the barrel to create explosive bat to ball contact! With a 7/8 inch standard handle and a synthetic leather grip, the Catalyst will feel amazing in your hands as you prepare to hit your next homer! Louisville Slugger: Be the Best, or Swing the Rest! dad of 2 coach of 12

Pros: Great pop out of the package. Break-in is a little longer than I wanted. My 9 year old son loves the bat! 2 1/4" barrel, 30" 18 oz. purchased. The team is now using it after they have watched him hit with it. As far as longevity, we will have to see.

Cons: The white handle grip looks good but not for long I am sure. I will be replacing it soon with another color.

Catalyst pvnll player

Pros: This bat is a lot better than the much more expensive Attack. Has pretty decent pop for the extremely low pop. I would compare it to the Alloy Easton S3

Cons: nothing, really not the best bat out there though.

Good Bat for the price anthonym parent

Pros: Reasonably priced. Nice pop after breaking in. Held up well for 10 months use. Only reason why he isn't using is because he needs a 29".

Cons: Bat tape isn't that great. Replaced with Lizard Skin Dura Soft Polymer Bat Wrap.

Great Bat for cheap Jeremy parent

Pros: This bat actually feels like a bat, it has the traditional feel and weight distribution not like a two piece bat. I purchased it for that reason, my son is more likely to hit in the sweet spot with this style. I noticed that he hits more solid with this bat over the top of the line two piece composite bats. This is the perfect bat for my 9 year old boy who is a contact hitter, if he gets the sweet spot it's just an advantage at which point there is good pop.

Cons: I have notice other high dollar bats that have more "pop" in which the ball flies, but they are also not as forgiving. This bat hits very consistently top to bottom. There does not seem to be the dead spots you see in other bats.

Pretty Good Jason player

Pros: Amazing bat for hitting bombs and hard line drives. Vibration is never annoying in games.

Cons: Vibration is unbearable in the cages. Handle is annoying. Sweet spot isn't big but it is worth hitting it there. I definitely suggest wearing batting gloves for this!!!!!!

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst Youth Baseball Bat: YB13C? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this end loaded at all? My son is 8/9 yrs old 65 lbs. Do you recommend 28 or 29 inches? kdog
The Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst: YB13C is a balanced bat. Our Bat Coach is a great tool to help determine what size is best.
Tyler
How much break-in will this bat require? Thanks. MCL
We recommend taking 100-200 swings off a tee or soft toss. Rotate the barrel about 1/4 of an inch each swing. We also recommend not to use the Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst: YB13C Youth in batting cages that use yellow dimpled balls.
Kara
Is this bat a big barrel bat, does it have a 2 1/4 inch barrel diameter? Gardner
The Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst: YB13C Youth bat is a youth model bat. It features a 2 1/4 inch barrel diameter.
Aubrey
Can a swing trainer be used for part of the break in or does it need to be with leather? Mark
I would not recommend using a swing trainer on the Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst: YB13C Youth as the denser balls will damage the composite.
Kevin
Is this a 100% composite bat or mixed with alloy? CG
The Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst: YB13C Youth is a one-piece composite bat.
Kara
My 9 year old son has this bat and will not use it due to stinging his hands. Is this a common problem with this bat? Would changing the grip on the belt help? JBell
The Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst: YB13C Youth is a one-piece composite design and hand stinging occurs more in a one-piece bat compared to a two-piece bat. Changing the grip on the bat might help reduce some of the stinging slightly, but it will not make a drastic change. All bats are susceptible to stinging regardless of the design.
Jason
what is the break in period for this bat? native
We would recommend a break in period of about 150 to 200 hits of soft toss or tee work with the Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst (YB13C). During those hits, we recommend rotating the bat head a quarter turn between each hit. This allows the barrel to be broken in evenly around the entire surface area.
Patrick
Do You have this bat in 28 inch Kim
Unfortunately, the Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst: YB13C Youth is a discontinued model. Therefore, we only have limited sizes available.
Bobby P
What do you think is the right size for a 7 year old who is 54" tall and 73 lbs.? Also, last year I got him an Rawlings 5150, 28" 16 oz. Is this a better bat? dbl119
The Rawlings 5150 Youth bat and the Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst Youth Baseball Bat (YB13C) will both be very popular models. The Catalyst will be 100% composite, while the 5150 will be 100% alloy. Both have great performance and a balanced swing weight. The best size in the Catalyst for your son will be a 29" 17 oz.
Brandon
What would be the best bat length, weight, and bat itself for my 11 year old? He is about 54 inches tall and weighs 74 pounds. SpartanGirl08
We can estimate the length of bat your player would need based on height and weight but the weight they should use would be based more on their strength and what size they have been using in the past and the specific bat they would need is more based on preference and the other size factors that we would have to figure out. Based on height and weight, we would suggest a 29 inch youth bat like the Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst Youth Baseball Bat (YB13C).

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
