Pros: Solid bat. Bought it for my son and he hits it solid in the tunnel. Hasn't seen game time action yet but it has good pop and great sound when hit solid.

Cons: Not sure it is as hot as the VooDoo that I was looking at for him. He's hit that one in the same practice tunnel and I think he hits the ball harder with the VooDoo but this bat was $100 less so we'll see how it works in game situations.

Pros: Bought this for my 9 year old son two months ago. When he hits it in the sweet spot, the ball pops. Graphics are great.

Cons: Truth be told, we bought the wrong bat. We bought the 29-16 and it is simply too light for my son. He swings a lot harder than I thought and the light weight of this bat really threw off his timing. He has been using his teammates -10 Big Barrel Omaha and doing much better. The sweet spot is very small on the -13 as well. Will donate to a little league team.

I was looking for a youth bat for my 8 yr old. He has good swing speed. He's 69lbs. and 4ft. tall. By comparison which would be better Louisville Slugger Omaha, Vertex, DeMarini Voodoo, or the Easton Omen? super Dad
Using the Bat Coach Feature on justbats.com I was able to find out that your 8 year old should be swinging a bat length of 27". I would rather have him swinging a Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB136 Youth or a Louisville Slugger TPX Vertex: YB13V Youth. The DeMarini Voodoo and the Easton Omen will have heavier swing weights and feel slightly end loaded. The 2013 Louisville Slugger line markets their bats with the lowest MOI in the industry. Which means the easiest swinging, lightest feeling bats around. The 2013 Omaha will be a One-Piece all Alloy design. The Vertex will be a Two-Piece design. It will feature an Alloy barrel with a Composite handle. Two-Piece bats tend to eliminate a more vibration that may travel to the hitters hands. Neither the Omaha or Vertex will require any break-in period. All of these bats will come with a Full 12 Month Warranty through their manufacturer.
Brandon
What changes are in the 2013 and 2012 youth Omaha if any? cc
The only difference is the Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB136 Youth is more balanced than the 2012 Omaha.
Kara
Would this bat be good for machine pitch? joe
The Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB136 Youth is made from a durable alloy making it an ideal bat for machine pitch.
Kevin
What would be better for a 13-year-old who is 4' 11", 85 pound kid? The Youth or Senior League? tmat
The barrel size depends on what league you play in. If both Youth and Senior League bat barrel sizes are allowed, the Youth model provides a greater length to weight ratio while the Senior League bat provides more surface area for contact.
Mac
How does this bat compare to the Louisville Slugger TPX Warrior? Rusty
The Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB136 Youth features a higher grade of alloy for better performance and durability.
Kara
Is there any heavier version of this bat? Boss chicken
We have this bat in a heavier version, but the barrel is 2 5/8 inch. Here is a link to view that model. http://www.justbats.com/product/2013-louisville-slugger-tpx-omaha--sl136-senior-league/16503/

I have noticed the gold model has more pop is this true to any others? Sheridan Swarm#2
The only difference I would think is that the gold Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha Youth Big Barrel has a bigger barrel diameter.

My son is 7 years old and is currently utilizing the Easton Reflex 28", 15oz. The bat seems a little too long for him and being that he is a small kid I was thinking of purchasing the Louisville Omaha 27", 14oz. Not sure if that would make much of a difference. He is playing on a 7U travel team this summer and I would rather have him get situated with a bat sooner rather than later. Would this bat be a good option? Is there something else that you would recommend? He is approximately 4' tall and weighs about 45 pounds. Thank you. Bill
The Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB136 is a well balanced bat similar in construction to the Easton Reflex. The Omaha is also known for it great durability. It would be a very good choice for your son.
Tyler
Reflex or Omaha for a 7 yr old going to coach/ kid pitch? What size would you recommend for 43 lbs and 44 inches tall? Chase
Based on his height and weight we recommend a 27" 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB136 Youth.
Kara
What's the difference between the the Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB136 Youth bat and the Worth Lithium AMP Youth Baseball Bat -13? 02139 Dad
The Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB136 Youth bat and the 2013 Worth Lithium AMP: YBAMPL Youth bat are one-piece alloy models. The following is a link for further comparison http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Aubrey
My son is 5 years old and is in Tee Ball right now, he will be in pitching machine next year. He is about 4 ft tall and about 45 lbs, what length and weight should I get him? He swings a 11.5 oz. now. Is this bat good for the machine without denting? nate
The Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB136 would have too small of a barrel for machine pitch. Machine pitch leagues allow a 2 3/4" barrel which would give you son more area to hit the ball. With the height and weight given I would suggest a 27" bat. The Easton S1 JBB13S1 Junior Big Barrel would be perfect in the 27" 15 oz. model.
Chad M.
My 9 year old is 51" tall and 60 lbs. Do you think 27" and 14 oz. is the right size? phiglio
Based on his size, a 28" model of the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB136 is the recommended size.
Tyler
Would this bat be comparable performance wise to the YB116 limited edition TPX Omaha? If not, which bat would be? Thanks. matt
Yes, the Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB136 Youth bat and the Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB116 Youth bat are one-piece alloy designs that use ST+20 alloy.
Aubrey

The Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB136 Youth is a small 2 1/4" barrel.

Brandon
I am purchasing a bat for my nephew for Christmas. He is 51" tall and around 65 pounds. He has used my son's 27" Easton Reflex and liked it. Would this be a good similar bat? I was thinking about the 28" Omaha or Warrior? Cdalty
The Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB136 Youth will be similar to the Reflex. It is a balanced, light weight one-piece alloy bat. The Warrior would also be a good balanced choice as well.
Tori
My son is 4'7", and is a left handed contact hitter. He doesn't have much power, but is more than capable of dropping the ball into the shallow outfield. He had a lot of luck with the 2013 Easton Reflex, but may need a new bat due to growing. How will this one stack up? Doogie
The Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: YB136 Youth is a one-piece alloy and will be similar in feel to the reflex in its balance.
Damon
Which bat has the larger sweet spot or longest barrel? The TPX Omaha YB136 Youth or the Rawlings youth Plasma? birdiman
The Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha (YB136) and the 2014 Rawlings Plasma (YBPLMA) have similar size sweet spot. The Plasma has a slightly longer barrel.
Kara
Is the 2013 Omaha YB136 Youth ready to be used, or does it need a break-in period? Cardbird 47
The alloy barrel design of the Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha (YB136) Youth bat does not require a break in period and will be ready to go out of the wrapper.
Patrick
In one response it is indicated that the barrel size of the Omaha YB136 youth is too small for machine pitch and in another response it is indicated that it is fine, please clarify . Cardbird 47
The Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha (YB136) Youth bat features a 2 1/4 inch barrel. This barrel, in general, would be approved for machine pitch play. However, some leagues will allow for the use of a bigger barrel bat which would be more advantageous for the player to use. If you are unsure what your specific league allows, it would be best to contact your coach or league office and asking them about barrel size restrictions before making a purchase.
Patrick
I was looking at this Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha. What size should I get for my son? He's 4'9" and weighs about 106 lbs. alamo
The size we would recommend based on the player's approximate height and weight for the Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha: (YB136) would be 30 inches.
Merritt
My son is 4'5" and weighs 118 lbs. What size do you recommend? stephen
I would recommend the Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha (YB136) in a 30"/17 oz.
Bobby
My son is 10 years old, 4' 10", and approx. 85 lbs.. He has been using a 29" Easton Reflex for the last 2 years, and it is time to upgrade to a new bat. I'm considering this one, or the new 2015 version. He's mainly a contact hitter, and rarely hits more than a double. Is this a good option for him, and would he be better served with the 30" or 31" version? Doogie
I would recommend going up to a 30" if he is currently using a 29" model. The Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha Youth Baseball Bat (YB136) would be a great option.
Damon
I weigh 90 punds and I am 4'7". What size should I get? unknown

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
