Description

In the past, the H2 was Louisville Slugger's flagship composite/alloy hybrid design. This season, Louisville Slugger ups the ante with a new bat, new materials and performance that will leave you astonished! Building off the success of EXOGRID, Vertex Technology is the next step in optimizing the composite/alloy hybrid design. The Vertex design utilizes Louisville Slugger's LS-2X Composite which uses thinner high-strength and lightweight graphite fibers to create the optimal feeling handle. These thinner fibers allow for more layers, giving the Vertex added stiffness and durability. The handle of the Vertex is actually stiffer than the EXOGRID which allows more barrel flex, resulting in maximum trampoline effect and, ultimately, greater performance! The lightweight nature of LS-2X Composite also gives the Vertex one of the lightest M.O.I. on the market. The barrel of the Vertex is constructed using AC21 Scandium Alloy. Combined with composite materials, the AC21 Scandium Alloy ensures thinner walls with outstanding durability and unmatched performance. The Vertex has a synthetic cushioned grip on the 7/8 inch tapered handle to give players an unbeatable feeling of confidence when they step up to the plate. Louisville Slugger: Intimidate at the Plate! The TPX Vertex is BBCOR Certified and legal for high school and collegiate play. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Pros: Yes! Amazing bat right out the wrapper. I bought this bat thinking i would use it for practice b/c it was so cheap($100). I used it and from the get go the ball flys off the bat. My friend has the 2013 nike fuse and it no where compares and he agrees. Great for power hitters like myself. Feels composite as it also has a "crack" sound. Overall... best bbcor i have ever used.

Cons: Grip gets dirty quick but not that big of a deal. GET IT YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

Pros: This bats is amazing. Right out of the wrapper this bat has almost as much pop as a BESR. No lie. It has a nice crack to it when you hit the ball. Even when you hit the ball off the hands as long as you continue your swing the ball will still be hit hard and carry as if you hit it on the barrel.

Cons: The trip gets dirty. Which is to a con. And if you think it is then you are not a baseball player and you are on the wrong site.

Pros: This bat was more than I expected. My son is making the transition to middle school ball where they are expected to use bbcor. I bought this for this upcoming season thinking he would loose some distance on his power long ball. To my surprise the ball is going just as far if not farther with this bat. Sounds like a wood bat when you hit the ball. Very solid bat.

Cons: None.

Pros: I used to use a Dynasty SL11D. I was really disappointed in having to switch. I actually hit farther with this one. Last year I played on a 210 ft. field as a 6th grader. This year I play on a 400 ft. fence to center and 320 ft. to left and right. Last night it was my first time outside on the field and I hit it 15 yards from the fence in left field. I am a home run hitter and it looks like I can continue my reputation on almost twice as big of a field! Get it. You will be amazed.

Cons: Nada.

Ciriaco Power 77

Pros: BALANCED!!! Might feel a little bit top heavy, but when u start swinging this compared to other BBCOR bats it is balanced. Highly comparable to the Easton XL series, XL2 to be exact. The XL2 is a hybrid just like the Vertex and the two have wonderful pop, but the major difference is the price. Save some greed, buy the Vertex and have a bat which is better than the XL2 in my opinion (I have swung and hit with it). First big hit with this bat was a 300ft triple. It's a great bat

Great Bat Swinger player

Pros: Great Price, Great pop---It's about the swing not the bat...don't pay a bunch of $$ for a BBCOR, they are all basically the same that was the whole purpose of the BBCOR rule. I tried them all this is as good as any on the market....don't be fooled by claims one BBCOR is better than another---they are all basically the same as far as pop goes-- the way BBCOR's are balanced is the only difference

Cons: None

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger TPX Vertex BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB12V? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Which bat has better balance point and longer barrel, this one, the EXOGRID, or Marucci Black? nic6pkers
Based on customer feedback the Marucci Black will probably be the most balanced, but it has a similar barrel size to the EXOGRID2. Both the EXOGRID2 and the Black have extended barrels with an enlarged sweet spot design. We just recently received the Vertex BBCOR and have not heard any feed back on this bat yet.
Jennifer
Does this bat or the Rawlings 5150 BBCA have better pop? Mr.Baseball
The Rawlings 5150 and the Louisville Slugger TPX Vertex both have alloy barrels. With that being said, they will both have about the same about of pop.
Billy
I've heard that this bat is good. Which has better pop, this or the Easton S2? baseballer38
Both are two-piece bats with an alloy barrel and will have great pop. The S2 will be a little more balanced than the Louisville Slugger TPX Vertex.
KB
I'm a big kid and I have good power but I sometimes have trouble getting around on inside pitches. Would you reccomend this bat, the Vexxum, or the Easton S3? Tom
All are great options, but the S3 will have the lightest swing weight and may help you with swing speed.

Yes, the Louisville Slugger TPX Vertex is going to be very similar to the Z1000, both are very balanced bats. The Vertex is also going to be a stiff bat to help generate more pop off of the bat.
Sean
Why has this bat been marked down so cheap? Not a good bat? What's the different between one piece and two piece bats and why would i chose one over the other? Why are some bats weighted towards the end and others are evenly balanced? mike
The Vertex BB12V is a closeout model though Louisville, which explains the price. One piece bats are stiffer and are often preferred by stronger hitters with good swing speed. Two piece bats offer more flex and are often preferred by hitters with average to below average strength and swing speed. Endloaded bats are weighted towards the end of the bat to give strong hitters with high swing speeds the best performance possible. Evenly balanced bats are better for your all-around hitter.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
