Description

The Louisville Slugger Vertex is back with a new look and an upgrade to enhance your batting average this season! This year's Vertex design utilizes Louisville Slugger's latest Pure 360 Composite, which uses thinner high-strength and lightweight graphite fibers to create the optimal feeling handle. These thinner fibers allow for more layers, giving the Vertex added stiffness and durability. The handle of the Vertex is actually stiffer than last year's EXOGRID, which allows more barrel flex, resulting in maximum trampoline effect and, ultimately, greater performance! The barrel of the Vertex is constructed using AC21 Scandium Alloy. Combined with composite materials, the AC21 Scandium Alloy ensures thinner walls with outstanding durability and unmatched performance. The Vertex has a synthetic cushioned grip on the 7/8 inch standard handle to give baseball players an unbeatable feeling of confidence when they step up to the plate. Louisville Slugger: Leave Your Mark! The Vertex Senior League bat features the USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp and is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Better bat speed 1bigkid coach

Pros: The grip feels great. Hot out of the wrapper and super light weight. Great bat speed my son is hitting the ball solid. Very balanced. If your looking for speed this is the bat. High end alloy and composite handle and you can tell no stingers and solid contact even when you don't barrel it. One of the shiniest bats especially night games. It has this very glossy paint that has a few seem marks from wet balls after several 100 hits. Other then that it barely marks up and the paint hasn't chipped.

Cons: The cost.

crushing the ball bigtwinsdad parent

Pros: In the 6 games since changing to this bat my son is 12 for 13 with 2 HR (avg distance 220 ft) and they were not full swings. My son is 10 5'4 150. Great POP and great bat speed. His only out was a rocket to 1st base that barely got 6' ft off the ground. First baseman had no choice to catch probably stuck to his glove. he took his glove b/c his hand was stinging. He has so much confidence now. He loves this bat.

Cons: none yet still early in the process.

Very Good Big Barrel for the Price Alex Ballgame parent

Pros: The bat is end-loaded for a power hitter but still light enough to not slow down your bat speed. The grip is comfortable and the bat is nice and shiny even after a hundred hits. My son needed a, non-composite barrel, big barrel bat at a reasonable price and I picked this one out after researching many bats and their reviews. This bat did not disappoint!

Cons: Even though the bat had good pop, the bat did not drive balls as far as the much more expensive Easton Mako. Also, I wish there was a mark on the bat that the barrel was made out of aluminum.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
