Bad Deal John Smecca parent

Pros: There are none.

Cons: My 10 year old, who only weighs 65 lbs., went through 2 bats before he could even ever know if the bat was worth the original price. There is a reason way they are blowing these out at a fraction of the original price. Don't Buy!!

AMAZING aroid player

Pros: this may be the best bat that i have ever owned! and that includes the demarini cf5 and the easton s1(expensive hi tech etc). the main thing that i like about this bat is the pop. in the first game that i played with this bat, i hit three homeruns. one grand slam, a three run, and a solo. also, something great with this bat is the feel. when you hit the ball solidly off the sweet spot, it feels heavenly. the grip didnt feel anything more than a regular grip, but i didnt experiance much shock so i guess it works.

Cons: i had a little shock with this bat but that is something that comes with almost any one piece bat.

Tyler
What is the difference between the preBCOR -5 model and the cat5 -5 model? brad
The 2013 Marucci Team preBCOR: MSBT5 is actually very similar to the Marucci CAT 5: MSB25 as both are made with Marucci's high-end alloy. The biggest difference is that the 2013 Marucci Team preBCOR: MSBT5 has a new grip to better reduce sting and vibration.
Tyler
Does the PREBCOR affect the pop in the bat at all? What would be better the Marucci Team or old Marucci Black? acostumor
No the PREBCOR 2013 Marucci team will perform like any other senior league bats. The Marucci Team, and the Marucci Black will have the same amount of pop, but if you are better with a two-piece bat go with the Black, and if you are better with a one-piece bat go with the Team.

In this Q&A you say the PREBCOR bat performs like any other Senior bat but in the Q&A under the CAT5 it states that the PREBCOR does not perform as well. Can you clear this up? Thanks. Keith
This information comes from Marucci. The preBCOR Cat 5 was designed to perform to the same standards Adult BBCOR bats have to meet. That is not the case with the 2013 Marucci Team preBCOR: MSBT5. This bat is designed to perform similar to other Senior League bats on the market.
Tyler

For an 11 year old, I would recommend going with the 30" 25 oz. model of the 2013 Marucci Team preBCOR: MSBT5 Black Senior League bat.
Marcus
Is this bat approved for high school play? Marty
No, the 2013 Marucci Team preBCOR: MSBT5 Black Senior League will not be approved for high school. The bat must be stamped with BBCOR to use it in high school.

Which bat is better, the Marucci Team or Rawlings 5150? baseball1
Both are great bats. The Marucci Team and the Rawlings 5150 are balanced one-piece alloy bats.

My son is 13 years old. I'm looking for a balanced weight, drop 5 bat with a smooth barrel for him. I bought the drop 5 Lousville Slugger Exogrid 3 and it felt great, but his Little League said it was not legal because the TPX letters were rough and could scuff the balls I was told. Any 32/27 bats you highly recommend? Thank you. al9x1
Some of the top 32" 27 oz. -5 bats on the market that would be legal for Little League are; 2013 Marucci Black 2: MSBB25, 2013 Marucci Team preBCOR: MSBT5 and 2014 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5. All will have smooth barrels and the most balanced bat out of these three will be the Marucci Black 2.
Tyler

Based on his age, we would recommend using the transition size of -5 before going on to a BBCOR model. Based on your height and weight, we recommend going to a 32" model in the 2013 Marucci Team preBCOR: MSBT5 Black Senior League bat.
Aubrey
Would this PREBCOR bat be legal in 14u little league district tournaments and is it the same as BBCOR? Tommy
The 2013 Marucci Team preBCOR: MSBT5 Black Senior League will be legal for Little League Junior league. No, PREBCOR bats will not be legal for BBCOR requirements.

Kara
I just turned 13 and I am 5' 7", and 120 pounds. What length should I get. I had a 31' XL3 last year, but need a -5 for this year. ?
You should get the 2013 Marucci Team preBCOR: MSBT5 Black Senior League in a 32" bat.
Noah
I used a marucci cat in a -8 last year. I loved it because it was not top heavy. I need a -5 this year. Is this bat top heavy? Choister20
No, the Marucci Team preBCOR is a well balanced design. The Team model is the model that replaced the Cat 5. I think this model would be a good transition to a -5 drop.
John
Would the Marucci Team preBCOR or the Easton XL3 -5 be better for a power hitter? Nish
Both the Marucci Team preBCOR and the Easton XL3 would work well for a power hitter. It would come down to a personal preference of a balanced swing weight vs. a end-loaded swing weight. The Marucci Team will have a balanced design while the Easton XL3 will have more of an endload.
John
I have been swinging an Easton S1, would this bat compare with it at all. I know that the S1 is composite and the Marucci is not. Confused
The 2013 Marucci Team preBCOR: MSBT5 Black Senior League bat will perform more like an Adult BBCOR bat (less pop). The Senior League Easton S1 will perform like a true Senior League bat. Both bats will still be very balanced.
Brandon
Does the Marucci Team have an extended barrel like that of the Easton XL3? Dub
The 2013 Marucci Team preBCOR: MSBT5 Black Senior League does not have an extended barrel. The Marucci Black 2 has an extended barrel like the Easton XL3.
Kara
Which bat is better, the 2014 Marucci Black or the Marucci Team? sdf
The 2014 Marucci Black is a seamless two-piece hybrid design and has an extended barrel with a bigger sweet spot. The Marucci Team is a one-piece aluminum design with a balanced swing weight. The Marucci Black is the higher end model but will not be as balanced as the Marucci Team.
John H

The 2013 Marucci Team preBCOR: MSBT5 Black Senior League bat will be legal for USSSA play and have the appropriate 1.15 BPF stamp on the barrel.

Damon
Is this bat still approved in 2014 for Pony League? mrebecag
The 2013 Marucci Team preBCOR (MSBT5) is approved for Pony League in 2014.
Kara
Is this a big barrel bat? My son is going from coach's pitch to kid pitch. Rachel
The Marucci Team preBCOR: MSBT5 Black Senior League is a big barrel bat with 2 5/8" barrel diameter. However, the -5 length to weight ratio would be much too heavy for a kid transitioning from coach pitch to kid pitch. I would recommend looking for a -10 length to weight ratio. Marucci has a model similar to this with the model number MSBT10 that would be a more suitable bat.
Justin R.
Does this bat carry the USSSA 1.15 stamp for Little League play? Daniel
Yes, the Marucci Team preBCOR: (MSBT5) Black Senior League will have the 1.15 certification stamp on the barrel making it legal for play in USSSA.
Merritt
I'm just entering the modified baseball age for my school. We have to use BBCOR. Should I get a -5 or a -3? noah
If you are required to use a BBCOR bat then the Marucci Team preBCOR (MSBT5) Black Senior League would not be legal. All BBCOR bats are -3 in drop weight. This bat is only certified for USSSA.
Aaron
One of the players on my 13u baseball team was using this bat and let me hit with it and he got it from this website. Its just I cant find it in a 31 inch 26 ounce like his. How can I because i really like this bat? 17bryce
We do have the Marucci Team preBCOR (MSBT5) in a 30" 25 oz. size. If you want an option in a 31" 26 oz. that will be very similar to the Marucci Team, I would go with the 2014 Marucci One (MSB15-BK). They both are one-piece alloy bats that use the same AZ3000 Aerospace Alloy.
Zach
I have a red and white Marucci, drop 5, 32 inch 27 ounce prebcor bat and I wanted to know if this is legal in the IHSA high school baseball league? Gbenes
The Marucci Team preBCOR Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBT5) does not feature BBCOR certification which is required for high school play. The term "preBCOR" just indicates that it is a heavier model (-5) that will help transition the player toward the minimum BBCOR certified drop weight (-3). All BBCOR models have to be -3 or heavier in terms of drop weight or length to weight ratio.
