Description

The most reliable alloy bat on the market is back and ready to improve the games of players everywhere! The Rawlings 5150 Alloy is constructed with a one-piece 100% alloy frame. The ultra-responsive 5150 Alloy barrel has been formulated for higher strength and increased flex. The result is an unmatched combination of trampoline and durability. As a result of new precision manufacturing capabilities, 5150 Alloy bats are consistently hotter than aluminum bats of the past. The thing that sets these baseball bats apart from the competition, however, is the extremely balanced feel that gives hitters maximum swing speed and improved bat control! Rawlings once again employs the help of Sci-Fly technology with their development of this year's line. This is a Ball Flight and Hitting Analysis System using Doppler Radar to track ball flight characteristics. The launch angle, ball speed, hit distance, and spin rate from the point of contact is measured to scientifically identify a bat that matches a unique swing style. Expect nothing less than optimal performance with the Rawlings 5150 Alloy bat! Rawlings: Maximum Performance Where It Matters Most on the Field! This bat is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and USSSA. The Rawlings 5150 Alloy comes with a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Nice bat for a good price Eric S coach

Pros: Bought this bat for my 8 year old. He hits hard but up until now has refused to give up his 4 year old tee ball bat, he just liked the feel. Ordered this for him as he need to step upto a bigger bat. He's 4'8 and weighs 90lbs so we got him the 29" 17oz. The extra weight over his older bat has caused him to slow down just a bit which has helped him stay behind he ball longer. First game with it he hit two to the fence on a one hop and third was a sharp liner back up the middle.

Cons: None yet.

Great bat Jeremy Younkins coach

Pros: Bought this bat for my 6yr old Tball kids. The 28" 16oz bat drop 12 is a perfect fit. I coach the team and five of the kids on the team use this bat. They all have success with this bat, hitting the ball into the outfield. These kids are second year players and the bigger bat makes a huge difference.

Cons: None after ten games

Unbelievable Bat - Nellansx5 coach

Pros: True Balance Wicked Trampoline affect Truly Rawlings did it Right on this stick & they are making a come back I have always been a Slugger TPX hitter so 2 sons have been swing sluggers too. NOT ANY MORE Bouns - I am 37 yrs old & the Rawlings 5150's are the only bats on the market that have the enough medal elements in the construction of the barrel that you are able to hear the old school "PING" sound at contact.

Cons: That I waisted money on 2 LL Slugger Omaha @ the same time when I bought 2 of these Wicked & Nasty 5150's

Cons: The Bad thing is that the vibration is hold the bat down so it is harder to hit more line drives

Good Bat for the $$ CMon coach

Pros: Great hitting area. Balanced swing. Lots of pop. 8 yr olds on my team prefer this over the Demarini bats.

Cons: Only con is the smaller knob. For this age group it's more distracting than useful. Grip was ok but I replaced with Lizard Skin.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Rawlings 5150 Alloy Youth Baseball Bat: YB51B? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Im trying to decide between this bat the 5150 and the Easton S1. Which one should I buy? mattyk
The 5150 is all alloy and the s1 is going to have a little bit more pop to it than the 5150 because it is composite. Both have fast bat speed. The S1 will need to be broken in and the 5150 will be hot right out of the wrapper.
K.B.
is this bat composite? john
No. This bat is 100% alloy.
John
Which one do you think is better, this bat or the Easton Rival -13? I am more of a contact hitter but bring a lot of power when making good contact. Ice-E-Fresh
I like this one, the 5150. The Rival is pretty light and you might want something with a little more weight to it.
Linda
What's the difference between youth, adult and senior bats for an 11 yr old boy who hits well for that age? Bob
The difference is going to be that youth bats are going to have a 2 1/4" barrel size, the senior league bats are going to have a 2 5/8 or 2 3/4" barrel size and the adult bats are for high school and college play
Sean
Is this bat able for use in little leauge or usssa and does it have the usssa 1.15 bpf stamp? jumpup12
This bat will not have the USSSA stamp on it
Sean
does it get dented easily swingingforthefences
I wouldn't say it dents easily with the right care. But if it does, it is covered by a 1 yr manufacturer's warranty.
Linda
What is the difference between this bat and the Easton S3 Youth bat? BaseballFan
Basically, the drop weight is different, the Easton is a -13 and this is a -12. And the type of alloy used. Easton uses the THT100 Aluminum and this one uses the 5150 Alloy.
Linda
My son is 8yr (U9) 53in, 62 lbs. I am looking at this bat, the S3, and the M2M. Any recomendations of on over the other? Are they all balanced? I am thinking 29in, the s3 is lighter and might help. njAndrew
The Rawlings is an excellent choice. It is lighweight like the S3. The M2M is going to be very stiff.
JB
How is the pop and the overall perfomance? Cam
The overall performance of the 2012 Rawlings 5150 Alloy results in great pop and overall excellent results.
Brad
Is this bat approved for 2012 USSSA play? BL
This bat does not feature the new USSSA stamp. Youth bats will be legal for 2012 and 2013 with the old USSSA logo. 2014, all youth bats in USSSA leagues will need to have the new stamp.
Kris
Hi, I'm looking to buy a bat for my son and I wanted to ask if the Rawlings Alloy 5150 and the Rawlings Velo are similar performing bats and what they are good for? Thanks. David
The Rawlings 5150 (YB51B) and the Rawlings VELO (YBVELO) are both good performing bats, and the VELO is actually the replacement model for the 5150 and they both use the same high performing alloy. These bats have a very balanced swing weight that is preferred by contact hitters.
Kyle J.
Is there any disadvantage to buying a 2012 bat in 2014? tb
No, there is no disadvantage to buying a closeout model. The price on the Rawlings 5150 Alloy (YB51B Youth) will be much less than the brand new 2014 version.
Brandon
Which is better: the 28" 16 oz or 29" 17 oz? baseballmom
The Rawlings 5150 Alloy (YB51B) Youth is the same bat regardless of the size that you get. The best way to determine the best size for a player is by their height and weight. For more sizing information check out the Bat Coach: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
