Pros: Ever since I've been using this bat I have been either getting home runs out of the park every game getting grand slams. I love how this bat is so nicely balanced I would rate this bat four and a half. Cons:Sometimes the cap at the top pops off.

My son is changing from using big barrel to using a 2 1/4". He currently swings a 30" 20 oz. Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha. I don't know if I should stay with the 30" or go longer, due to the weight.

The Rawlings 5150 VELO (YBVELO Youth) would be a very light weight and balanced bat option. The most recommended sizing in this bat compared to your previous 30/20 Omaha would be a 31/18 or a 32/19.

My son is 4'8" and his weight is 102 lbs. What size bat should he use?

Based on his height and weight we recommend a 30" 17 oz. Rawlings 5150 VELO (YBVELO).

My son is 10 and a half years old going into Spring ball. He's a little small. He is around 4 foot 10 and weighs around 60 pounds. I'm thinking of going with a 29 inch bat. Is it better to err short or long? This bat seems light.

The 29 inch size of the Rawlings 5150 VELO (YBVELO) Youth bat sounds like a good option for your son. Based on his height and weight we would suggest a range between 29 and 31 inches. It is important not to go too long to where the bat would feel too heavy to the player. However, you also want to go long enough that they are able to have good plate coverage. The 29 or 30 inch sizes would probably be best given the VELO's balanced swing weight.

Product Description

New Youth Bat for 2013! Velocity. It's what many swings are lacking, and often times it's not the fault of the player. Many bats are manufactured without swing speed in mind. Rawlings set out to solve this problem, and the result is the new line of VELO bats. Rawlings employs what it calls "the science of balance" to create a bat that not only has a remarkably balanced swing weight, but also a much lower M.O.I. (moment of inertia) than its competitors. This is achieved through weight isolation and a new Comp-Lite end cap. This new end cap allows the end of the bat to swing much lighter through the zone and helps players improve the mechanics of their swing. Using Rawlings' proprietary Bi/fusion process, the Comp-Lite end cap is fused to the barrel that is constructed from their premier 5150 Alloy. Regarded as one of the superior alloys on the market, Rawlings' 5150 Alloy has been formulated for higher strength and increased flex to give it the ultimate combination of durability and trampoline effect. 5150 Alloy is a huge part of why Rawlings bats consistently perform at the maximum allowable level by today's standards. Rawlings: The New Standard of Speed! The 5150 VELO is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!
