Rawlings Ash Wood Softball Bat: 182AP Slow Pitch review by HESS
Pros: A great bat for the money and then some. We have been using these bats for a couple of years now and they are very durable and offer plenty of POP. They have outlasted bats costing more than double the price. They will break however if you don't watch the label. We had a couple break on us but it was from inexperienced hitters with wood bats. For a budget minded player I highly recommend this bat. Our 2 best hitters on our team use this bat. They could have used a $100 wooden bat, but instead choose the BIG STICK everytime and they hit bombs. Cons:The knob is a bit weird at first. You do get used to it after a while. Some guys can't deal with it but others prefer it.

Does the label face upward, or opposite side of the bat from the pitcher? We were always told the label goes up. One of my new bats say's up. On-line it says not facing the pitcher. That could be, up, down or away!

When hitting with wood bats the first thing the player must do is make the label (emblem on the barrel) of the bat face straight up or straight down. The areas to either side of the label on the bat is not only the hardest but also the strongest.

This bat will be an approximate -4 to -5 drop. You should face the label away from the pitcher.

Product Description

This year Rawlings introduces a wood slow pitch softball model bat. This bat is made from some of the hardest Ash wood found in the world and has all of the same great features as Rawlings baseball bats. The 31/32" handle gives any player the same feel they're used to in a traditional non-wood softball bat. The flared knob is a unique feature for a wood softball bat and is popular among players that used to play baseball. Because it is made of Ash, it is one of the lightest wood slow pitch bats on the market, but because of Rawlings' superior wood and experience in making wood bats it is also one of the strongest. The brown handle and black barrel is accented by the gold labels. If you want a slow pitch bat made from the same great pro style wood as the most popular baseball bats then this is the bat for you!
