Description

The biggest surprise of last season was dominance of the RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR. The PROB2 was the most preferred BBCOR bat on the market, hands down. However, if you don't think it can get any better than that, think again. The all-new RIP-IT Prototype II is RIP-IT's most advanced design yet. Featuring a bold new look and made from their exclusive Advanced Tempered Ballistic Alloy, the Prototype II has the most responsive barrel of any BBCOR bat ever made. Balanced for power, the Prototype's weight resides mostly in the barrel which features the biggest sweetspot a player will find on a BBCOR bat. The one-piece design, forged from a single block of high-performance aluminum, provides outstanding durability and the most consistent performance in the game. The tapered handle on the Prototype II features a memory foam grip that molds differently to each player's hand. The result is a grip customized exactly how players want it, every time they use it. This grip also eliminates vibration to truly give players the most comfortable swings of their lives. RIP-IT is so sure you'll fall in love with this bat that they're offering a 30 Day "Love It or Return It" Performance Guarantee. RIP-IT: The Best BBCOR Bats, Guaranteed. The Prototype II is backed by a Full 400 Day Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: Really cool design. Grip is great, and so is the feel when you swing it. Nice long barrel with a pretty decent sweetspot for BBCOR.

Pros: This bat has a huge sweet spot, and most players on our team have made this their bat. What stands out the most to me is that the performance is consistent across the entire barrel, where most bats drop off quite a bit in performance when you hit a couple inches off the sweet spot.

Pros: I was between a few bats, but chose to try the prototype 2 because of rip it's love it or return it policy. I figured I could return it and buy a different bat if my son didn't love it. 30+ days later, we still own the bat and my son says it is better than any of the bats his friends use.

Cons: None so far, but want to again thank ripit for the novel idea of letting players try the bat and return it if they don't like it.

Pros: Just got back from bat demo day. Put all the BBCORs head to head. Rip-It was hands down the best bat. I had the 2011 red recertified Rip-It and this is NOT the same bat. The white one is more balanced with a much better feel. I was returning the red 2011 Rip-It to the manufacturer, the Rip-It rep took care of me at the field!!! Now swinging and singing the praises of the New 2012 Rip-It.

Cons: No Cons-- Rip-It= Best BBCOR and Best customer service period.

Pros: customer service is great. I returned this bat and received a check within days. The bat how ever is not all that great. I truly have tried the Easton, Rawlings, Marucci, Rip-it and the Nike bats. Rip-it is not the worst of the bunch, but definitely not the best. Good marketing, most people will buy because of the money back policy and will never return it.

Pros: Purchased for Christmas present. Both my son and I feel it has nice pop when barreled up. Only used in cages so far but it may be a bit longer than 5150 on big hits.

Pros: Bat had good 'Pop' for less than 20 hand thrown pitches. Around pitch number 18 the bat broke. It sounds like a gravel pit when you shake it. We bought it on Friday and it broke on the following Monday. But out of the "less than 20 (twenty) pitches thrown" ,6 went over the fence.6 good hits divided by $280.00? Do the math I guess. I have the video.

Cons: See above. What a dissapointment. Good 'Pop' for less than 20 pitches with Diamond Back balls and it breaks. Now I gotta deal withthe frustration of sending back a ballistic aluminum bat for warranty...

Pros: Like look & feel, heard great things ...BUT - see below.

Cons: I received the bat and handed it to my son who immediately noticed that losse particles were floating inside the bat. The bat has never even hit a ball. Due to popularity & backorders - it makes me wonder if shortcuts are being made in manufacturing & quality control. What could be loose in a new one piece bat? Very frustrating as the season for my high schooler is about to begin.

Pros: So far love this bat. Had Rawlings 5150 last year before I needed BBCOR. I was reluctant to switch brands, however I can honestly say this bat for me was the right decision. There is no majic bat out there, but if your mechanics are down pat this bat will complement your game at the plate. Bat feels great when hitting with a quality feel and balance.

Pros: Bought the bat for my son for xmas. 8th grade swinging a 33/30. Had a Surge last season. Ripit shipped me the red 2011 bat by mistake. Told me to keep it and sent me the prototype 2 that I ordered. Son absolutly loves this bat. His Cat5 is sitting in his room now and he is using the RipIt's exclusivly now. Everyone on his travel and 8th grade team wants one now. Has hit 3 dingers so far in 10 games. Closest BBCor to BESR bat out there. I hit the bat myself in BP once. I was shocked at exit speed and NO STING. Horror stories of BBCOR bats are a myth with the Prototype 2 IMHO.

Cons: Nothing. Would be even better if were just a tad more balanced, but with BP he got used to the slight end load. Awesome job RipIt. Negative reviews on this bat are CRAZY!

Cons: Ordered the bat for Christams. Used it in January it Dented. Sent it back and got a new one on 2-24-12, got the new one and used it in one game... Guess what? After one game it is "Dented" again! Bat is not game eligible!

Pros: It has decent pop for a BBCOR.

Cons: Not really a balanced bat...it's end loaded...Started to rattle after only one tournament, and I hope it's not the same issue some others are having. After hearing all the end cap issues, I'm worried that it might break off in the middle of a game.

Pros: The Bat was performing well for the first batter. The 2nd Batter hit it off the end of the Bat and the plastic cracked and it fell off.

Cons: 2 of the parents after the incident decided to go with the Rawlings. I'm going to stick it out with the Rip it Cats heck they named it The prototype.I use to sell pro Audio and there are always quirks in new products. After I looked at the end cap it was very rigid I think the material needs to give a bit.I know this with shipping Vintage Tube Audio gear rigid against rigid Means Breakaroni!

Pros: According to RIP-IT, the PROB2 had a bad run of 33" bats where the endcap is not holding up. They have corrected the problem and are more than happy to replace your bat within a week. It's more than worth your while as this is a fantastic bat.

Cons: overrated. more of an endloaded feel and i honestly felt more pop coming from some reebok bat we had, as well as last year's voodoo. bought the bat 2 months ago but only recently have tested it so i'm fairly sure the 30 day return thing is down the drain despite it being pretty unused. sent it in after the end cap popped off from poor contact and tape a message on the barrel. hoping for a refund but i doubt it's happening

Pros: Has pop, action off bat....price is not over the top like most companies. Customer service in Orlando is restricted, however, they work with you and get replacements in the pipelines.

Cons: Let's face it, no one is being up front here - caps are flying off bats out there and kids/parents scramble to get replacement. The only place to get supposedly the bats that have the fix are the ones at Rip It corporate in Orlando. My son got his replaced with Ashley down there with end cap that had the corrective action......his original lasted four swings, two over the fence, a line drive and a cracked cap. The seasons are so compressed, waiting a week is 3-5 games.....Rip It (corporate) replaced the same day as they got FedX return scanned and it took a day as I picked up at FedX facility the next town over. Bottom line? The cap fix is at corporate, in the field, there is a defect and despite the 'bad batch' comments - it is a risk.

Pros: I bought this bat at a local sports store. I did actually purchase the bat unlike half of the people who leave reviews on here saying its really good. It does have decent pop for a bbcor and a very nice grip, but i do not believe it is the best bbcor bat out there. I sent mine back using rip-its 30 day money back gaurantee. They refunded all of my money and let me print out a label that covered the shipping cost. I sent mine back because my team has a white nike mc2 bbcor and i like it much much better than this bat. The Nike MC2 has a much better sweet spot and has more of the old familiar ping that we used to hear from the old besr bats. I recommend the MC2 much more than this. Another good option is the Easton XL series or more specifically the XL3 as my team owns one and we really like it. We have an easton XL3 and S3 and the XL series is better than the speed series for sure. Seriously though, look into the White Nike MC2 you wont be disappointed.

Cons: -Not the best bbcor bat on the market as its claimed to be. -Grip gets dirty fast -Lacks that satisfying ping that we all crave.

They are both great performing bats with the biggest difference being that the RIP-IT is a one-piece alloy bat and the COMBAT B3 is a one-piece composite bat.
K.B.
I am more of a contact hitter? Is the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo or this bat a better fit for me? HB
The 2012 DeMarini Voodoo and the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II are both great bats and will be a great fit for you. The biggest difference is that the DeMarini Voodoo is a two-piece bat and the Prototype II is a one-piece design. Many contact hitters prefer a two-piece bat as it provides a whipping like action when swung. Many power hitters prefer a one-piece design as it is a little stiffer when swinging the bat.
Sean
I see a 30 day performance guarantee, what does that mean? 100% money back, less shipping? Is there a restocking fee? Jeff
The 30 day performance guarantee is a guarantee from RIP-IT. If you are not satisfied with your Prototype II within 30 days from purchasing your RIP-IT product, you may send the bat back to RIP-IT for a full refund.

Is this NCAA 2012 certified? ledfall13
Yes, the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is approved for play at the high school and collegiate level. The Prototype II is BBCOR certified and the NCAA requires all bats to have this certification.
lkh
I have heard that this bat (2011 model) was banned and lost its BBCOR ranking. It could not be used in High School or College. Is this true and does it have the rating back and are the schools and colleges going to allow this bat again? Jambie
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is BBCOR certified. An older model of the Prototype lost its BBCOR certification, but they restested the bat and it gained its BBCOR cerfification back. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is legal for high school and collegiate level play.

Will there be any other rule changes? splurve
As of October 6, 2011 we have not heard there will be anymore rule changes regarding BBCOR bats.
K.B.
Why is the 32/29 weight option no longer available?? The One
As of 04/21/2012, we have the 32 inch 29 ounce model in stock. We run a live inventory system on our website and if we have the bat in stock, the sizes that we have it available in will be posted. As soon as we sell out of that size, we do our best to remove that size option from the site.
Kara
Is the RIP-IT 2011 Protoype Reloaded a detuned version of the original, meaning, does not hit as well and is heavier? Charlie Crash
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult version is just as hot as the previous years model. All BBCOR bats have been regulated more strictly and won't be as hot as any previous BESR certified bats.
Mark
Does the whole, "If bought in this amount of time it will be sent the same day" mean anytime within that? or starting then? lefty
That means the product will ship anytime within that time frame. If it say 3 hours, that means any order placed between now and 3 hours will ship out the same day.
Ryan
Does the Protoype II have a metal sound or a dull thud like many composite BBCORs, i.e.TPX Z-1000 and Omen? Al
It's more of a dull thud. If you look at the RIP-IT Prototype II on our website, there is an audio link in the top right corner of the main product image. Click on the audio link and you'll be able to hear what the bat sounds like.
John
Do you carry 30.5" / 27.5 oz. adult bat? dave
Yes, as of 04/21/2012, we currently have the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat available in a 30.5" 27.5 ounce model.
John
Best for bat speed? If not what is? dave
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece alloy design and has a power balanced feel, meaning that the weight of the bat is balanced more towards the barrel of the bat. A lot of players looking for a bat to assist with bat speed will look more towards a two-piece bat as it is more flexible and provides more of a whipping action when swung.
K.B.
Does the RIP-IT Prototype II have any sting? Does the grip get dirty fast? What would you recommend: *Both BBCOR* DeMarini CF5 or the RIP-IT Prototype II? I like pop and no sting and I want a bat that doesn't get dirty fast. BanningBaseball
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II doesn't have any more sting than many of the other BBCOR bats available. The grip should be fine as long as it is taken care of. The DeMarini CF5 and the RIP-IT Prototype II are both great bats but differ in the fact that the Prototype II is a one-piece alloy design and the DeMarini CF5 is a two-piece fully composite design.
K.B.
How does this this bat compare to other top bbcor bats like the Power Brigade? AJ
In my opinion, the RIP-IT Prototype II will be right up there with the best BBCOR bats. I really like the new Speed and XL bats from Easton. I haven't hit with the S1 or XL1 BBCOR bats yet, but I anticipate they'll also be two of the better BBCOR bats to date.
Derek
Which one is a better bat, the RIP-IT Prototype II or the Marucci Cat 5? I really don't know if I'm a power hitter or a contact hitter. I'm 5'8" 156 lbs. I usually hit doubles to the wall and singles. Not so much homeruns. Usually 1 homer every 40-50 ab's . I'm really conflicted . mark
Both are high performing one-piece alloy BBCOR bats. I've hit with both and would say that both have similar pop. I really liked the feel of the Cat 5 though and it was a little more balanced in my opinion. The Prototype would probably be better suited for a strong power hitter though.
Jeff
I'm kind of scared of getting this after my last RIP-IT had to be recertified. Is that a reasonable worry? hi
RIP-IT has taken the necessary precautions to ensure that the Prottotype II does not go through the same re-certification process as the original Prototype. It shouldn't be a problem.
Kara
It is an understandable worry, due to all the rule changes. But as of right now, this bat has all the certifications required for 2012.
Linda
I hear this bat loses "pop" after a while because it is made of alloy material, is this true?? I OWN THIS BAT!!!
The Prototype II is a bat that is going to keep its pop for a long time as long as the bat is kept up. This is going to be one of the hotter BBCOR bats on the market.
Todd
I'm 5'7" and about 190 lbs and I consider myself to be a power hitter. Where I live it is very cold during my season would this be a good bat for me? Hammett35
The RIP-IT Prototype II is a stiff one-piece bat and is a great choice for power hitters. I would try to limit its use when it's below 55 degrees outside as the baseball becomes more dense and the bats are not designed to be used against dense balls.
Derek
I'm 200 pounds 5'10" and normally I am relied on for deep balls in the 3 and 4 spot. So do I use the RIP-IT, the COMbat, the Omen, or the Cat 5? seanvb14
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II is great for power hitters. It is a stiff one-piece alloy design. The COMBAT B3 and the Cat 5 are also great one-piece bats. The Easton Omen is a two-piece design and geared more towards contact hitters.
K.B.
The 30 day return policy. Is it returned to you or the manufacturer? Viking
The 30 day performance guarantee is handled through the manufacturer, RIP-IT. The 400 day manufacturer's warranty is also handled through RIP-IT.
K.B.
I would just like to verify that the RIP-IT RE-CERTIFIED PRO-B BBCOR BASEBALL BAT is a legal high school approved bat for the 2012 season. sbh
Yes, the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is BBCOR certified and legal for play in high school and collegiate play.
Sean
Which would be the better BBCOR bat the Prototype II or the Rawlings 5150 BBCOR? Nick
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II and the Rawlings 5150 are both great one-piece alloy bats that provide comparable performance. To choose between the Rawlings 150 and the Protoype II comes down to personal preference.
Derek
Is this the best bat for POWER out on the market? If not, which bat is? SP#13
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is one of the best selling bats on the market. The Prototype II will provide great performance and durability.
K.B.
For a power hitter, which would be a better bat, the RIP-IT Prototype II, the Marucci Cat 5, or the Easton XL3? If not any of these, which one? McD
Generally speaking, power hitters prefer one-piece bats. Some prefer alloy, some prefer composite, but most all, I would go with a one-piece bat. There are numerous bats that would work great for a power hitter, but the three that you have mentioned are all great bats.
Linda
Which bat is better, the Nike MC2, Louisville Slugger Exogrid, RIP-IT 2, or a DeMarini bat? I need a bat for this season!! I want the best. I need answers
All of the bats that you have mentioned are very popular and hot selling BBCOR bats. Based on the bats that you have mentioned, it really comes down to your personal preference to decide on a bat that you feel comfortable using.
Linda
Will the 30 day guarantee still be honored through January if this bat sits under the Christmas Tree until 12/25/11? mrv
The 30 day guarantee and the 400 day manufacturer's warranty is in place from the date of purchase.
Linda
What separates this bat from its predecessor because I own the original and it is absolutely phenomenal and it looks as though the barrel is smaller on this bat? Czar
They are very similar bats. This is the newer model of the RIP-IT Prototype. Both bats are great BBCOR bats.
KG
Is this a one-piece bat? BSmitty
Yes, the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II is a one-piece alloy bat.
KG
Is this bat more balanced or is it end weighted, or in the middle? I have heard both. Ilovebball
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is power balanced, meaning that the bat has a slight end loaded feel, but it is also well balanced for a slightly end loaded bat.
Todd
What would be better, the RIP-IT Prototype II or the Marucci Black? By the way, I am a contact hitter. Luke
The Marucci Black is going to be the bat that I would go with. This is going to be a great bat for contact hitters. This is going to be one that you will be able to use for a long time.
Todd
For a contact hitter, I would recommend the Marucci Black as it is a two-piece bat with more flex and very balanced weight, designed for contact. The RIP-IT is a one-piece, stiffer bat generally preferred by power hitters.
BSmitty
Son is 14.5 yrs. old. 135 lbs. has good bad speed. Your opinion pro's & cons between 2012 RIP-IT and Easton XL2 and XL3. Faclon
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II and the Easton XL3 are very comparable bats. They are both one-piece alloy designs and have a slight end loaded feel. The Easton XL2 is a two-piece hybrid design and will also feature a slight end loaded feel.
Todd
Being a power hitter in the past but now heading into high school. Is it safe to say I will still be a power hitter or will that change when the playing field isn't level any more? Eagles
It depends on your level of determination and drive. If you have always been a power hitter, with confidence in your abilities, you will still be a power hitter!
Linda
Do these bats require that they be rotated like a lot of the composites? loveripit
The RIP-IT Prototype II does not require a break-in period. However, it is recommended to rotate any alloy or composite bat to preserve the life span of your bat. If you rotate your bat, you will preserve each side of the wall more so than constantly using the same side of the barrel.
Kara
Would you recommend this bat for a 13-year old swinging a minus 3 for the first time? TA
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat would be a good one. It is power balanced, so it may have a slightly end loaded feel, but it will provide great performance.
Linda
I am concerned about the memory foam grip as we share bats on my team. Will this be a problem? River
This shouldn't be a problem. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is one of the more popular BBCOR bats that we sell.
KG
Is this RIP-IT better than the last? Is it well balanced and does it have more pop? Barraza
The Rip-IT Prototype II is power balanced, meaning it has a slight end loaded feel. The Prototype II is a very popular bat with great pop.
Linda
Is this bat going be be legal in high school baseball? EastonBaseball0513
Yes, the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is BBCOR certified and legal for high school and college play.
Linda
Is this bat durable? Will it last a couple seasons? j123
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a very durable bat and has been a very popular BBCOR bat. As long as you take care of the bat and try to avoid the bat becoming a team bat, it should be fine. The Prototype II bat has very good pop and a very nice sweet spot.
KG
My 13 yr old did awesome last year with his Easton Omen. He is about 5'4" and a little beefy (we call him "Prince Fielder") and he wants an Easton XL2 BBCOR; his coach is recommending Rawlings 5150. However, from everything I am reading, I am leaning towards this bat. I am so confused - what do you recommend? Mama H
All of the bats that you have mentioned are great bats. The Rawlings 5150 and the RIP-IT Prototype II are one-piece alloy designs geared more for a power hitter. The Easton XL2 is a two-piece hybrid design, so it will feel similar to swinging the two-piece Omen.
Linda
Is it approved for USSSA in 2012? Charlie
Yes, BBCOR bats like the RIP-IT Prototype II are approved for USSSA play in 2012.
Sean
Which is a better bat, the Marruci Black or the Prototype II BBCOR? albert
Both are going to be great models. The Marucci Black is going to be a more balanced model campared to the RIP-IT Prototype II. The RIP-IT is a one-piece all alloy model and the Marucci Black is a two-piece hybrid design.
Sean
Is this bat only for power hitters? alex
No, the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat can be used for either type of hitter and will provide great performance both ways. One-piece bats like the Prototype II are traditionally more beneficial for a power hitter over a contact hitter though.
Sean
I have been looking at three different bats for about a month now and they all look good and have awesome reviews. I have been going crazy trying to decide which bat is best. I was wondering if you can please tell me which of these three are best and why. The three bats are the 2012 Voodoo, the Marucci Black and the RIP-IT Prototype II. Thanks!!! yankees9601
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult is a very good BBCOR bat and has tons of pop. The Prototype II has a slight end-loaded feel and is a one-piece bat which is designed more for power hitters. The Black and Voodoo are two-piece bats with a balanced weight and more for contact hitters. You won't go wrong with any of the bats, however, the Black and the Voodoo are geared more towards contact hitters and the RIP-IT is geared more towards a power hitter.
KG
If it cracks or breaks what is RIP-IT's warranty? wags
RIP-IT provides a 400 day manufacturer's warranty on the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat. If you are unhappy with the bat within the first 30 days, RIP-IT also offers a 30 day performance guarantee.
Kara
Would this RIP-IT or the Marucci Black be better for a player that is both a contact and power hitter? yankees96fan
Either bat will be a good option. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult is geared for more of a power hitter but still an option for a contact hitter and the Marucci Black is geared more for a contact hitter, but still an option for a power hitter. The Prototype II is a one-piece alloy bat and the Marucci Black is a two-piece hybrid design.
KG
I usually get one-piece bats, but I've heard that this bat and the first one are good. I'm a DH, so which one is better for me? Colt45
I think the reviews speak for themselves. This is a very good BBCOR bat and will have very good pop. The RIP-IT Prototypes are a one-piece all alloy bat and are geared more more for power hitters.
KG
What is the better bat. The RIP-IT Protoype II, Easton XL2 or Demarini VooDoo? My son is 6' 195 lbs and a power hitter. Dvea
If he's a strong power hitter, then I would lean towards the Easton XL2 or the RIP-IT Prototype II. The XL2 and Prototype II will have a little more end-loaded feel and is a good choice for power hitters. The Prototype is a stiff one-piece bat and the XL2 is a two-piece hybrid design. The DeMarini Voodoo is a two-piece hybrid design with more of a well balanced swing weight.
TJ
Want to confirm that you have the 31" in stock. Can you also tell me if I place the order, when I will receive it? Thanks! Dionne
As of right now, we do have the 31" size in stock. We ship out the same day that you order and you will receive the bat within five business days.

Yes, the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is BBCOR certified.
Sean
Will this bat be approved for USSSA use? RIP-IT is currently not listed as an licensed manufacturer by USSSA. Wade
Adult size bats must be BBCOR certified and the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is BBCOR certified. Senior League bats have the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp. BBCOR bats will be legal for play in nearly every league as the BBCOR certification is the strongest certification.
Linda
Is there break-in period? BW
No, the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat does not require a break-in period as it is a one-piece alloy design. Bats that are constructed with composite barrels do require a break-in period.
Linda
What is the different between the white model and the red model? Money
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is power balanced, meaning the bat is going to feel slightly end loaded. The PROBR, the red model, is going to have a more well balanced swing weight.
Linda
What is the difference between the Prototype II and the 2012 Prototype BBCOR:PROBR Adult? In other words the original Prototype(re-certified) and the new Prototype II? Mike
The Prototype and the Prototype II are very similar bats that have very good pop and a huge sweet spot. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a newer model and the PROBR is the older model.
KG
My high school is looking at buying these. Is it a good bat? trojans1

K.B.
Is the Prototype II more balanced or end weighted? DJ
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is Power Balanced. Balanced for power, the Prototype's weight resides mostly in the barrel which features the biggest sweetspot a player will find on a BBCOR bat.
Linda
Last year in college, I used the white Voodoo in the 2 hole and led my team in homeruns but i would not consider myself a power hitter. I would say more of a contact gap to gap hitter. Im between this new RIP-IT, the new Voodoo, the Marucci Black, and the S1. I want a balanced bat that is going to provide good pop. any suggestions? b.adams
If you had a lot of success with last year's Voodoo, I would stick with the Voodoo. That's my mentality when it comes to hitting. If I had success with a specific model, I stuck with it. Whether that meant getting the new year's model or purchasing the same model (if I was able to). If you want something different, the S1 would be a great option. It's a little more balanced than the Voodoo and great for contact hitters. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is more a power hitters bat as it is a one-piece design and power balanced.
TJ
I am more of a contact hitter. Does that mean that I shouldn't get this bat? Should I lean more towards this Prototype II or the Marucci Cat 5? Justin
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat and the Marucci Cat 5 have very comparable features. The Prototype II and the Cat 5 are one-piece alloy designs. Many contact hitters prefer a two-piece bat as it provides more flex in the handle, thus providing a whipping action through the swing zone.
Shelbe
Which bat in the market is the best for more of a contact hitter in your opinion? junior
Contact hitters typically prefer a two-piece design versus a one-piece design. Two-piece bats provide more flex and are less stiff than a one-piece design. If you are looking for a great bat for a contact hitter, I would suggest looking at two-piece designs.
TJ
I've heard some rumors that this bat could be banned, any truth to them? Mike
There were issues with the original BBCOR Prototype, but not the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat. Even the original was re-tested and they found that it met all BBCOR standards and regained its BBCOR certification.
TJ
I'm about 5-10 and 135 pounds. I'm more of a contact hitter. Would you recommend the Prototype II or the Easton S2? Ty
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece alloy design and the Easton S2 is a two-piece hybrid design. Typically, one-piece bats are designed for power hitters and two-piece bats are designed for contact hitters. The Prototype II and the S2 are both great bats.
K.B.
Are there any performance differences between the Prototype II and Marucci Black? (pop, balance, durability) GoRedbirds
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat and the Marucci Black are both great bats. The Prototype II is a one-piece alloy design which is often times preferred more by a power hitter. The Marucci Black is a two-piece hybrid design that is often preferred more by contact hitters. The Prototype II has a slightly end loaded feel and the Marucci Black is more of a balanced bat.
Linda
Are we able to get this bat in different colors? g-dog
No, the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat only comes in the color as it is shown on our site.
John
I need, or want, this bat for my son. He is 10yrs old and I need a 31in. 21oz. bat. Do ya'll not make one that small? bud
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is BBCOR certified. BBCOR bats do not come in a -10 oz. drop. BBCOR certification only allows bats to have a -3 oz. drop. If your son is 10 years old, you may want to look at our Youth Big Barrel bats as they offer a selection in the size that you are looking for.
KG
Do you only have this bat in a minus 3? I am looking for a drop 5. RIZ
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is BBCOR certified and BBCOR bats are only available in a -3 oz. drop. RIP-IT offers two Senior League bats in a -8.5 oz. drop and a -10 oz. drop.
TJ
How is the sweet spot on this bat, in terms of size not pop? jaxon
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat has an extended sweet spot and provides great performance and durability.
Linda
How does this bat compare to the Easton S1? Hud
The Easton S1 is a two-piece fully composite design and the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece alloy design. Power hitters generally prefer a one-piece bat and contact hitters generally prefer a two-piece design. They are both great bats, the biggest difference depends on what type of hitter you are.
Linda
Does it ping when the ball is hit? Joe
Yes, since the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat has an alloy barrel, it will have more of a ping than the crack sound that a composite barrel bat would make. If you click on the speaker icon over the big picture of the bat, you can click the speaker icon and we have posted a recording of how the bat sounds.
John
My son is a contact hitter with power if that makes sense. I have been reading all the reviews and questions and while I know you can not choose sides of one particular bat company over another all I do is come away confused with what I am reading. I am looking for a well balanced bat that will give him the control and pop he is looking for. So far we have reviewed the RIP-IT Prototype II, Rawlings 5150 (both models) and Marucci Black. I know that you can't have the best of both worlds but which bat comes the closest for contact and power? dhkhdhdhch
I totally understand your confusion. I have two sons, so I know where you're coming from. If it were me, it would be a toss-up between the RIP-IT Prototype II, which is a power balanced one-piece bat, and the Marucci Black which is a well balanced two-piece hybrid. The Black will have a little more flex in it, better for contact hitters. The PROB2 will be stiffer, better for power hitters. Both are fine bats and among our top sellers. The Rawlings 5150 Velo and the Alloy are similar to the Prototype II as they are also one-piece designs. The Rawlings 5150 Velo is probably the most well balanced of the one-piece designs.
Bodie
Do you think the RIP-IT Prototype II is better than the Nike Aero M1 BBCOR? Austin
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat and the Nike Aero M1 BBCOR bat are both great BBCOR bats. As of right now, the RIP-IT Prototype II is our hottest selling BBCOR bat and the Nike Aero M1 BBCOR bat is in our top 15 for our hottest sellers.
KB
Can you get this bat in a drop 9 or drop 10? I have a couple of little guys and need something more than drop 3. Headhunter
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is an adult BBCOR bat and is not available in less than a -3 oz. length to weight ratio. RIP-IT does offer a couple of Senior League bats available in a drop 8.5 oz. and a drop 10 oz. The RIP-IT Senior League bats can be found at http://www.justbats.com/products/vendor~rip-it%20elite/baseball%20bats~youth%20big%20barrel/
Sean
My son is 5 ft 4, 110 lbs and is mainly a contact hitter. I'm just trying to put him on an even playing field with some of the bigger boys when he is trying out for his middle school team. What is the best bat for him to use in the $250 or so price range? Ira
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult is a power balanced bat with great pop. The Prototype II is going to have a slight end loaded feel to it. If your son is mainly a contact hitter, he may be more interested in a two-piece design as most power hitters prefer a one-piece design and most contact hitters prefer a two-piece model.
Linda
Is this bat legal for the 2012 little league season? Tony
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is an adult bat and has the BBCOR certification. The Prototype II is approved for play at the high school and collegiate levels. It will also be approved for your league if you have to use a BBCOR bat. If not, you may want to check out some of our Senior League bats.
Linda
I am 11 years old, 5 feet tall and weight 100lbs. What would be the best size bat for me? Tony
According to the Bat Selection Chart, which is simply a guideline, you should be looking at a 31" bat. The bat in question, however, is an Adult bat that is for High School & College players. Make sure that is the type of bat you need. You may also use the Bat Coach tool on our website to help guide you in the right direction.
Bodie
Which has a bigger sweet spot, the RIP-IT Prototype II or Marucci Cat 5? MrMallerd
Both of these bats have a very similar sweet spot and are very comparable bats. I can't say one is bigger than the other. The RIP-IT Prototype II and the Marucci Cat are two of our more popular BBCOR bats.
Tom
I'm trying to decide between the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 and the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR:PROBR. What is the difference? BaseballMom2
The only real difference is the type of alloy used. The Prototype II has the Tempered Ballistic Alloy, which is more durable. Other than the alloy used, they are very similar bats.
Linda
My son is 13 6'4" 200lb. Incredible power! Believe it or not, I think a 32" is good size (against faster pitchers)which is a better bat, RIP-IT Prototype II or COMbat B3? Which is better balanced? I'm confused, is this a composite or aluminum? 1 or 2 piece? bballdad
With his height and weight, he should be able to swing the 33", 30 oz. bat. As to which bat, it is a tough call. Both are going to offer what he needs as a power hitter. The COMBAT B3 and the RIP-IT Prototype II are both one-piece bats. As to which one would be better, the Prototype II is an all alloy bat with great pop, but a power balance towards the end of the barrel. The COMBAT B3 is a one-piece full composite design and also power balanced. The decision comes down to composite versus alloy and what his preference is.
Linda
My son is 5'7", 170 lbs, He is considered a power hitter by his coaches on his Select Squad. How does the RIP-IT prototype II compare to the Nike MC1? He likes the one piece stiff bats. He has a MC1 now. Is the RIP-IT II worth spending the money to switch from the MC1? GiantsfaninDallas
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is one of the hottest selling BBCOR bats out right now. The Prototype II has the one-piece stiff feel that he is looking for and it features a power balance, meaning the weight it going to be balanced more towards the end of the barrel.

Better than the top of the line Easton? Slammer
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece alloy bat. The Easton S1 or the Easton XL1 are the top of the line for Easton, which are two-piece fully composite designs. The Easton XL3 is the most comparable bat to the RIP-IT Prototype II. They are all great bats and either way you decide to go, you will be satisfied.
Ryan
Should I get the RIP-IT Prototype II or the Marucci Black? coleman
The RIP-IT Prototype II and the Marucci Black are both very popular, high performing BBCOR bats. It really depends on what type of hitter you are. If you are a power hitter, I would suggest the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat as it is a one-piece alloy design with a power balance. If you are a contact hitter, I would suggest the Marucci Black as it is a two-piece hybrid design with a more balanced swing weight.
Shelbe
My new bat has a loose particle inside the bat that you can hear rolling around. Is this a manufacturing issue? In addition to being irritating, will that effect the performance of the bat? Doug
Typically when this happens, it is a piece of epoxy or glue that the manufacturer used to seal the end cap on the bat. A piece of the glue may chip off and then you hear the piece rolling around inside the bat. More than likely, this sound does not effect the performance of the bat. However, it will be covered under the manufacturer's warranty through RIP-IT.
Tom
I'm 5'6" to 5'8" and weigh about 140 pounds. What would be the best length and weight for me? yearg
Based off of your height and weight, I would suggest a 32 inch 29 ounce bat.
JW
5'10"/140 lbs. Son needs to move up from his 31' DeMarini CF5. He loves the CF5 - great balance, great bat speed. He is a contact hitter; these FAQ seem to suggest RIP-IT Prototype II is more for power hitters. Why? Can you tell me what makes one bat good for power (I thought end load; but you say this bat is balanced) vs contact? For him, do u recommend the CF5 or the Prototype II? Thanks! BaseballMom
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat has a more end loaded feel which power hitters do prefer. The Prototype II is also a one-piece design which is also preferred by many power hitters. For a contact hitter, the DeMarini CF5 may be a better choice as it has a very balanced swing weight and it is a two-piece composite design which is preferred by many contact hitters.
KG
I'm 5'5" and weigh 120 lbs. What is the best size bat for me? Tholder
Based off of your height and weight, a 32" bat will be the best size for you.
KG

Which bat has more pop, the RIP-IT Prototype II or the Easton S1? BB
Both of these bats are great BBCOR bats. These are a couple of the most popular BBCOR bats we have been selling. I have been using a wood bat (32-30) all season until I finally broke it tonight. I'm also a contact hitter. I decided to get a BBCOR bat. Is the RIP-IT Prototype II a good choice for a bat? devin
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a very good BBCOR bat and will have tons of pop. This has been one of the hottest selling BBCOR bats this year and has received several great reviews.
Kris
I have been using a 32-29 DeMarini Voodoo for the past three and a half years and I want to switch to RIP-IT for the BBCOR. I recently had a growth spurt and I went from 5'6" - 160 lbs. to 5'10" - 180 lbs. What size bat do you reccomend? Jack
Based on your new height and weight, I would suggest moving up to a 33 or 34 inch bat. If you need any more help on trying to decide what size you need, feel free to use our Bat Coach feature located at the top of the webpage. This is a great tool in helping recommend sizes for those who are unsure of what the perfect size may be.
Jennifer
I am 5'8" and about 120 lbs. and thinking about getting this bat. I have kind of skinny arms so what size do you think I should go with? Zach
Based on your height and weight, I would recommend using a bat that is 31 inches. If you need any further assistance in trying to find the right size of bat for yourself, please feel free to use our Bat Coach feature located at the top of our web page. This will be a great tool in helping get you the correct size you need.
Jennifer
My 12 year old son is 5 ft. 3 inches tall and weighs 110lbs. What size bat would be best for him? He is starting middle school baseball. MLH
A good length for that size of player will be a 31"-32" bat. This is more on what he feels comfortable swinging. You may also want to try our Bat Coach which is listed above. The Bat Coach tool will help guide you in choosing the right length.
Kris
I am 6'1" and 230 lbs. I'm a pretty big dude and I'm starting high school ball. What size should I go with? I'm torn between the 32.5" and the 33". Panda
Based on your height and weight, I would suggest going with 33 inch bat. However, if you want to go a half of an ounce lighter, you can always go with the 32.5 inch model.
Kara
I am a 6 ft 185 pound third baseman that is a doubles hitter with some power. I am between the Easton S1, RIP-IT I and II, and the DeMarini CF5. What would you suggest? mike
If you hit with a little bit of power, I really like the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat. The Prototype II is a one-piece power balanced bat for more of a contact hitter. The CF5 and S1 are great bats, but I like those better for contact hitters without much power as they are both two-piece designs.
Tyler
There has been some issues with the BBCOR certification being on the handle of the Prototype II and not on the barrel as mandated. Our high school umpire association brought this up and has been dealing with the company about the misplacement. Will RIP-IT have a remedy to this problem? AT
There was an issue in Georgia about the bat being thrown out for the stamp being in the wrong place. It was appealed and the appeal was successful and the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is approved by the NFHS and NCAA. If there are further issues, you may contact RIP-IT to send you a letter verifying the bat is approved.
KB
Wanted to get this bat but my son's coach said it was no longer BBCOR certified. Some kids already have it and have to get new bats. What do you know about this? Scott
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is legal for play in NCAA and NFHS events. The Prototype II is BBCOR certified.
Tyler
I heard some information that the RIP-IT bat was de-certified. The only articles that I can find was last years original RIP-IT bat. Is the RIP-IT Prototype II still legal and certified for the NCAA? MikeM
Yes, as of 04/19/2012, the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is legal for play in NCAA and NFHS play.
Tyler
Im not sure if I should go with the 32/29 or the 33/30 because im 5'9 161 but I hit 4 hole. A lot of my hits are doubles in the gap or off the fence and this was with the 32/29 Wood Sam Bat I used over summer. Plus, I really like the Prototype II but what would you suggest that would be best suitable for me? Cam
Based on your height and weight we recommend a 32/29. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is an excellent bat and it does have a slightly end loaded feel. However, if you recently used a wood bat, the Prototype II slightly end loaded feel shouldn't be an issue for you.
KB
My son is 6'2" and weighs 250 pounds. What size bat would you recommend? He usually uses a 33" because he has a long reach. baseball mom
Based on his height and weight, the recommended length is a 34" bat. However, if he is comfortable swinging a 33" bat, that is perfectly fine as well.
Kara
My son is 5'11" and 190 pounds. He's going to be playing freshman baseball. What size bat would be good for him? Mister
Based off of your son's height and weight, a 33"-34" bat is the most common length for that size of player. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat does have a slight end loaded feel, so a 33" may be a better fit.
Kris
My son is 5'5" and 95 pounds. What size do I need to order? Puffer
I would recommend a 30 inch bat based on your son's height and weight. You may use the Bat Coach tool on our website to help you figure out the perfect size bat for your son.
Tyler
I got a RIP-IT bat on eBay with a 400 day warranty. What is the deal with the BBCOR logo? Will my bat be worthless after 2012? tim
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat does have the BBCOR label and is legal for high school and collegiate use. These bats are legal for this year and every year after, unless the rules happen to change again. BBCOR is the current certification for high school and collegiate level ball.
Jennifer
I am more of a singles hitter. Will this bat increase my gap to gap power and even homerun power? zmoney
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece bat that is usually preferred more by power hitters. A one-piece bat is pretty stiff, which helps with power hits. If you are more of a contact or gap hitter, a two-piece bat would probably better suit your needs. A two-piece bat offers more flex and creates a whip like effect that helps with contact hits.
Jennifer
Is the RIP-IT more end loaded than the Marucci? I have narrowed my choices to these two bats and would like the one with a balanced feel for a single/double hitter and allow good bat speed. Also, would a 29oz 32in be good for a 5'7'' 130 pounder? Tyler
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a power balanced bat. It depends on which Marucci you are comparing it to. The Marucci Cat 5 is very comparable to the RIP-IT Prototype II as they are both one-piece alloy bats. The Marucci Black is a two-piece hybrid design that is designed more for a contact hiter. I would recommend a 32 inch bat based on your height and weight.
Tyler
Does the half size and the half ounce change anything about the bat? Reggie
No, the half ounce and the half inch just provides players with more options when it comes to the size of the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat.
Tyler
Is there a break-in period? stacey
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece alloy design and will not require a break-in period. Alloy bats are hot out of the wrapper and bats with composite barrels require a break-in period.
Jennifer
Is this bat durable enough to use in the cage as well as games? Brendan
Yes, the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is durable enough to use in the cage as long as you are not hitting yellow dimpled balls in the cage. Those balls are much more dense than a regular baseball and may damage the bat.
Zach
Is the weight evenly distributed or is the weight all in the barrel? austin81
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is power balanced, meaning that it has a slight end loaded feel giving the players more momentum when swinging the bat.
Kris
Hi, I'm down to deciding between 2 bats, this RIP-IT or the Easton XL3. Which would you recommend? Price is not a matter. HoyBoy
The RIP-IT Prototype II and the Easton XL3 are two very popular bats and both have had great reviews. Both of the bats have a slight end loaded feel which adds power and both are one-piece alloy designs. Deciding which bat you want really comes down to personal preference. They are very comparable bats with different brand names.
Kris
Im down to 2 bats the RIP-IT Prototype II and the Marucci CAT 5. Which one is better? Also, I'm 6'3 170, what length should I get? jared123
The RIP-IT Prototype II and the Marucci Cat 5 are both great bats. The biggest difference between the two bats will come down to personal preference. I talk to customers all day and the jury is still out about which is better. Based on your height and weight, a 33 inch bat is recommended. With that being said, the Marucci Cat 5 33 inch model has lost its BBCOR certification. All other sizes of the Cat 5 are still legal.
Tyler
I'm concerned about the number of reviews concerning the end cap. Are these reviews specific to the 2012 Prototype II? Has there been any correction in the design by RIP-IT? bbparent
The end cap coming off was a problem with an early batch was sent to us. Since then, RIP-IT has addressed this issue and it is no longer a concern. If your end cap does come off within the first 400 days, please contact RIP-IT and they will replace the bat for you through the warranty.
Kris
I just got this bat and within a week the end cap cracked. Should I waste my time and try another one out? Big Down Low
Your bat has a 400 day manufacturer's warranty through RIP-IT and they will replace the bat because of this issue. RIP-IT has corrected this problem and the newer batches that they have produced have been fixed to avoid this problem in the future.
Kris
I am not sure if I should get the RIP-IT Prototype II or the new Easton Speed Series. I am a contact hitter. Would the RIP-IT help me hit with more power? I am 5' 3" and 105 pounds. Which bat would better suit me? dillon
If you are more of a contact hitter, I would suggest going with a two-piece bat. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a great bat, but it is a one-piece power balanced bat, which is usually better suited for power hitters. Contact hitters usually prefer a two-piece bat because these bats offer a little flex when swinging, so they help more with contact hits. With that being said, a contact hitter can still use a one-piece bat. If you are looking at the Easton Speed Series and would like a two-piece bat, I would suggest checking out the Easton S1 or S2.
Jennifer
Would you suggest the RIP-IT Prototype II or the Louisville Slugger TPX Z-1000? Big Down Low
Both bats are great bats and a couple of our top sellers. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece alloy bat, power balanced, and has an extended sweet spot. Since the Prototype II is an alloy bat, it does not require a break-in period and is hot right out of the wrapper. The Louisville Slugger TPX Z-1000 is similar, but it is a one-piece composite bat and has a balanced swing weight. Although, the Z-1000 is a composite bat, this particular model does not require a break-in period.
Jennifer
Will this bat be disapproved as of next year? It is unfair for people to spend this amount of money if you know that the bat is being disapproved as a BBCOR? Cherie
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is BBCOR certified and is legal for use in high school and college level play in 2012. As of right now, we have not received any word about this bat being deemed illegal or losing its certification in the future. The governing bodies, such as the NCAA or the NFHS are the organizations that test these products to determine their legality.
Jennifer
Have they done anything to improve the cap breaking off so easily? Several reviews say theirs broke in the first games. Kim
The end cap coming off was a problem with one of the first batches that was sent to us. Since then, RIP-IT has addressed this issue and it is no longer a concern. If your end cap does break off within the first 400 days, please contact RIP-IT and they will replace the bat for you under their 400 day manufacturer's warranty.
Kara
Is this bat a 1 or 2 piece? abskeezy
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece alloy design. The Prototype II is power balanced and has an extended sweet spot making it one of the biggest sweet spots on any BBCOR bat.
Jennifer
Should I get this or the Marucci Black? I'm 5 ft. 85 lbs. I'm almost in high school. Danny
This depends on what kind of hitter you are. If you are more of a power hitter, the one-piece RIP-IT Prototype II might better suit your needs. If you are more of a contact hitter, I would suggest a two-piece bat like the Marucci Black.
Jennifer
Is the Prototype II mainly for power hitters? danny
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece power balanced bat. Typically, power hitters prefer a one-piece design with a slight end loaded feel like the Prototype II.
Kara
Is it a composite bat? carlos
No, the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece Advanced Tempered Ballistic Alloy construction.
Tyler
Hi, I am a 6'0" 140 pound power hitter. What size of this bat would you recommend? I can't decide between 32.5" and 33". Jim
Based on your height and weight, the suggested size for you is a 32 inch bat. I would probably suggest going with the 32.5 inch bat if you can't decide between the 32.5 inch bat and the 33 inch bat.
Jennifer
I am 6'0" 165 lbs. power hitter. I am a sophomore in high school. Should I use this bat or the Louisville Slugger Z-1000? Also, what size should I get? 32.5 inch or a 32 inch? Jon
Based on your height and weight, the recommended size for you would be about a 33 inch bat. You can certainly use a smaller bat if you feel more comfortable swinging a smaller size. If you are a power hitter, either the RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR bat or the Louisville Slugger TPX Z-1000 BBCOR bat would be perfect for you! The biggest difference between the two bats is the material they are made out of. If you prefer a composite bat, the Z-1000 will be perfect for you, but if you would rather have an all alloy bat the Prototype II is the way to go!
Jennifer
I am 16 years old and for the past 10 years of my baseball career I have been using the Easton Stealth before the new certification. I was wondering if you would prefer this bat or any others that have almost the same feel as a Stealth does when the baseball comes off of the bat. Jimmy
If you want something similar to the Stealth, I would look at the Easton S1. It is a two-piece composite bat like the Stealth and will have a similar feel. Here is a link to the Easton S1: http://www.justbats.com/product/easton-s1-bbcor--bb11s1-adult/14439/
Tyler
What is the difference between the Louisville Slugger TPX EXOGRID2 and the RIP-IT Prototype II PROB2? dan
The main difference is the internal carbon composite sleeve in the Louisville Slugger EXOGRID2. The internal composite sleeve in the Louisville Slugger provides greater handle stiffness. Both bats are very durable high performing bats and it really comes down to personal preference between the two.
Tyler
I used the Easton SV12 last year and I loved the feel and balance it gave me. Will this bat have a feel and balance that the SV12 gave me, if not which bat does? JFid
The new Easton S2 is most comparable to the SV12 in terms of overall feel and balance. Like the SV12, the S2 is a two-piece hybrid bat. Also, the new S2 is designed with a low MOI (light swing weight) just like the SV12. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a great bat, but it is more of a power balance giving the bat more of an end loaded feel.
Tyler
The handle cap came off my bat today in a game. I noticed a drilled hole where the cap was. Is the bat still in useable condition? Or do I need to send it back for replacement? jarod
This would qualify as a defective bat and is covered under RIP-IT's warranty. As long as you haven't had your bat for more than 400 days it will be covered under RIP-IT's warranty. Please contact RIP-IT at 1-888-957-4748 for more information about your warranty.
Jennifer
What is better the PROB2 or the Marucci Black? JB
It is difficult to say without knowing what kind of hitter you are. The RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR bat is a one-piece aluminum bat and the Marucci Black is a two-piece hybrid design with an aluminum barrel and composite handle. Both are great, high performing bats. Power hitters typically prefer a one-piece design and contact hitters typically prefer a two-piece design.
Jennifer
Is this bat USSSA certified? smitty
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR bat is not USSSA certified, however the Prototype II is legal for play at all levels. Adult baseball bats used at the high school and collegiate level require the BBCOR certification, not USSSA.
Jennifer
Is this bat legal for high school? wayne
Yes, the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is BBCOR certified and is legal for use at the high school and collegiate level.
Jennifer
What is the difference between the white RIP-IT and the red RIP-IT? Dalton
The white 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is "power balanced" and has a slight end loaded feel. The red RIP-IT, PROBR has more of a balanced swing weight..
Kara
Purchased this bat in December 2011. End cap falls off. How to return/replace? VJ
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is covered under RIP-IT's 400 day manufacturer's warranty. You may contact RIP-IT and they will give you instructions on how to return your bat to them to get this issue taken care of. RIP-IT's warranty information line is 1-888-957-4748. If you need a copy of your receipt, please contact us and we can send you a copy.

What effect do dimpled batting cage balls have on this bat? I have heard that they damage them but I am not exactly sure how. (Denting, cracking, making it lose pop, etc.) If it makes it lose pop, how many hits do you think it takes for that to take effect? LH
Dimpled cage balls are very dense and will shorten the lifespan of your bat. It could lead to denting of the RIP-IT Prototype II's alloy barrel and it will limit the overall effectiveness. We recommend having a bat specifically for cage work and save your game bat for games.
Derek H.
I'm five foot four and weigh 135 pounds. What size bat should I use? I'm pretty strong for my height. koala

This was approved at the beginning of the season but then it got taken off the approved list, but I have recently read that it is back on the approved list. Is that true? dom
The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR is approved for play in high school and college.
Kara
Hi, I'm 6' 195 lbs. I'm a contact hitter with great power. Which bat would be better between the white RIP-IT or the CF5? whelz
If you hit with a lot of power, the RIP-IT Prototype II may be a better option. It is a stiff, one-piece bat that is often preferred by stronger hitters.
Tyler
My son is 4 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 105 pounds. What size and weight bat should he use? april
According to our Bat Coach program on our website, the suggested length and weight bat your son should use is a 29" 26 oz. bat. The link to the Bat Coach program is http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/.
Nick
Which is more end loaded? The Rip-It Prototype 2 or the Marucci Black? BH
Both the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II and Marruci Black feel very similar in terms of weight distribution, but I would say the Black will have just a slightly more end-loaded feel... However, I would still classify both as balanced bats.
Tyler
I'm 5'10" and about 135 lbs, I'm a good contact hitter. What size should I get for this bat? Josh
Based on your height and weight, our bat coach program on our website suggests that you use a 32"-33" 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II. The link to this program is http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/.
Nick
Is this a good bat for a contact hitter? Or would I be better off with a Marruci Black or an Easton S2? Reid M
Most contact hitters prefer a two-piece bat. With that being said, the Marucci Black or the Easton S2 would probably better suit your needs.
Jennifer
Is this bat better than the Easton XL1, if so why? Jay
Both are good bats. The RIP-IT Prototype II BCCOR will be a more balanced bat, whereas the Easton XL1 BBCOR will be more end loaded for a power hitter.
Damon
I want to get this bat ive heard things about the end cap busting off is this true? Batter
Rip It fixed the problem with their endcaps. This should not be an issue with the PROB2 bats currently on the market.
Tyler
I am 5 foot 8 120 pounds what bat size should i be using? jimmy
Based on your height and weight, a 32" BBCOR model would be recommended.
Tyler

Based on your height and weight, a 33" 30 oz model would be recommended.
Tyler

All these bats say they are approved for high school and college play but since you need to use BBCOR in Babe Ruth League is it legal in that league too? Philsphan2
Yes. The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult is BBCOR approved and legal in any league that requires use of a BBCOR bat.
Tyler
Why is a one piece bat preferred by a power hitter? brandy
One piece bats are stiffer and offer less flex. Hitters with high swing speeds often prefer stiffer bats as they may generate too much flex with a two piece bat.
Tyler

The 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR comes with a Full 400 Day Manufacturer's Warranty.
Nick

Tom
I'm 11 and looking at getting this bat for middle school but I'm not sure if I have to use BBCOR, do I? jake
Every middle school is different. Some middle schools do require BBCOR bats, however some do not. We recommend to contact your coach or middle school authority for rules.
Kara

The new version is now available; the model number is 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR: B1303 Adult.

Why would the end cap come/break off? I am considering buying the bat. Be straight up with me. PVBaseball
The first batch of RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR bats did have issues with the cap coming off and denting. RIP-IT has corrected these issues for a more durable RIP-IT Prototype.
Damon
Which BBCOR bat would be good for a contact hitter; the RIP-IT, DeMarini Voodoo, or the Easton S1? robster
All of these bats would work very well for a contact hitter. The RIP-IT Prototype II is a one-piece fully aluminum bat. The DeMarini Voodoo is a two-piece with a composite handle and aluminum barrel. The Easton S1 is a two-piece fully composite bat.
Tom

The reviews said that the cap broke and that the bat dented. Did Rip It fix these issues? nick
That was an issue they had with a batch that came out in February. This has since been resolved, and there have been no other problems.
Derek
Will the end cap break if I ordered it two days ago? Does it still have that problem? Is the 2013 model better? JT
The RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 had a problem back in February with the end cap. The bat has shown good durability since they resolved the problem. The 2013 model is still a one-piece alloy design, and very similar to the 2012 model.
Aubrey
Is this bat made in USA or China? Joe
The RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR is made in the USA.
Kara
Even though it is not usssa approved is it still legal in tournaments or middle school play? CR
The RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is BBCOR certified and does not require the USSSA stamp. It will be legal everywhere.
Tyler
I am a power hitter and need good bat speed. I like a bat with a lot of pop. The best bat every in my opinion was the Easton -5 Zcore. I would like to find something with similar pop, even though the regulation have changed to a -3. Which would be better for me the rip it proto type 2 or the new nike aero cx2. Or do you have a better suggection. Donny
The Easton Z-Core was an alloy bat most similar to the Prototype. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate. Thus, the Prototype would be the recommended bat for you.
Tyler
Hi, this is my first time looking for a BBCOR bat for my 12 year old son who is going to play middle school baseball, but has never hit with one. He is an opposite field, line drive type of hitter with a small frame/slim. Which bat do you recommend for him? E
For someone who is more slim, and a contact or line drive hitter I would recommend a two-piece balanced bat. The Easton S1, DeMarini CF5, or Easton S2 will probably be the best options for him.
Noah
I am more of a line drive, opposite field hitter. I loved the Stealths, but the BBCOR rules outlawed them. I used a Voodoo last year. and it was okay. Do you recommend the Rip-It or Voodoo? big mike
If you used the two-piece Stealth in the past, and really liked that bat I would recommend going with the DeMarini Voodoo over the RIP-IT Prototype II. The Voodoo will have a two-piece hybrid design allowing the barrel to flex, making it feel like the same swing as the Easton Stealth.
Noah
it this bat ok to use in middle school chris
Typically, I see 12-13 year olds use a USSSA Approves Senior League bat. It will have a USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp on the barrel. The RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is BBCOR Certified and used for high school and college play only.
Brandon

I have heard rumors from many people that the original rip it prototype bbcor from 2011 was a much better bat than this protototype 2 bbcor in terms of preformance. Is that true? matt
If you are referring to the first part of the 2011 Prototype line, then yes. Many of the 2011 Prototype bats that were produced in their first line got de-certified because they were too hot for the bat standards that were set in place.
Tyler

Is the 2012 RIP-IT Prototype II or the 2013 RIP-IT Prototype a better bat for a 14 year old lead-off batter? What's the difference between the two besides the color? southpaw lead man
The RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult bat is a one-piece alloy design, as is the Prototype AIR: B1303A. The main difference is the swing weight of each model. The Prototype II is designed for power while the Prototype AIR features a Rifle Barrel technology that gives it a low M.O.I. for increased bat speed. Typically, contact hitters prefer a very balanced bat like the B1303A.
Mac
Should I get the RIP-IT Prototype 2 or the RIP-IT Prototype AIR. I am going to be a freshman and I'm 5'8 and 145 pounds. With a drop 5 I was more of a power hitter but I'm not sure if I can keep it up using BBCOR. What bat do you recommend that I get. jack
The 2013 RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR AIR: B1303A Adult is more balanced and would be better suited for a player who is making the transition to BBCOR. The RIP-IT Prototype II BBCOR: PROB2 Adult is slightly end loaded.
Kara
I'm 14, 5', and 90 pounds, should I get the Prototype 2 or Prototype Air? I am a lead off hitter? Oscar
You should get the RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR Air, because it is going to have more of a balanced feel, which is ideal for contact hitters.
