Sam Bat knows a thing or two about wood bats. Sam developed this model for Barry Bonds, and on August 7, 2007 the Major League Home Run record was broken by Bonds using this Sam Bat model. The 2K1 (or 73 as it's sometimes known) features a large 2 1/2 inch barrel and a 15/16 inch handle. However, it's the distinctive flared knob on the 2K1 that makes it unique. This knob was designed to be the same size as a baseball in your hand. Because of its large size, it provides incredible support and counter balances the large barrel to give the 2K1 a surprisingly balanced feel. Every bat to come out of the mill is made from the top 5% of Hard Maple Prime Grade Timber harvested in North America. That makes a Sam Bat good, but what happens next makes it great. Conventional lathes put a tremendous amount of stress on timber as the wood is being turned. This fatigue weakens the stick before it even sees the ballpark. Sam Bat timber is turned into a baseball bat on a proprietary lathe, custom built for and designed by Sam Holman, the founder of Sam Bat.
