Description

New for Made in the U.S.A., both BJ Fulk and his new signature Worth Mayhem will undoubtedly wreak havoc on slow pitch fields across the country this season! The ASA approved BJ Fulk Mayhem features a classic one-piece composite design with a stiff handle for maximum power. Inside, a high performance, multi-layer composite core helps to provide exceptional rebound and maximum durability. This 100% composite bat is designed with High Modulus Fiber (HMF) Technology that uses fibers with smaller diameters in order to allow more of them to be woven together. This results in amplified strength for greater performance and a longer life span. The BJ Fulk Mayhem features technologically advanced manufacturing processes to ensure that it's one of top bats on the field. The bat must go through Worth's Rapid Air Vacuum (RAV) process where a pressurized mold holds the composite layers in place. Following that is the Epoxy Induction Process (EIP) which introduces a 2-part epoxy that is pulled through the woven layers. These processes create one of the strongest, most solid and highest performing bats available. The BJ Fulk Mayhem features balanced loading for one of the most true-to-weight feels on the market. This balance also gives players maximum control and consistency. Worth: 100 Years of Performance Through Technology! The Mayhem BJ Fulk features the new ASA stamp and is approved for play in ASA ONLY. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

7 days a week baller

Pros: nice looking bat. Feels like the designs are some kind of stickers, but still looks great.

Cons: This bat is very tight, does not hit well out of the wrapper. Maybe in time it will impress me. However, right now, I am not truly impressed!

Pros: Great looks! Worth has really outdone themselves on the looks of the bat. Made in the USA.

Cons: I don't know if it's just me, but I can't hit very well with this bat. I believe it's because both of my Miken's are endloaded while this bat is balanced.

Pros: Looks cool

Cons: Like other reviews Real Tight. Hopefully it opens up after taking 100 swings. Not even close to how my Easton Helmer felt out of the wrapper.

Batnut

Pros: Haven't found any yet.

Cons: In my opinion, and I use the 2010 BJ NSA addition and love it, this bat is terrible. I have about 300 hits on it and still no real distance, good pop for base hits I guess, but crap otherwise. I think Worth dropped the ball on this. Seriously consider looking at another product if you like to hit the long ball.

whats the new asa stamp going to mean for bats with the old Asa symbol next season?? jeff
Bats with the old ASA stamp will be grandfathered in and will still be legal for 2013.
Tyler
can you guys break in bats for people buying them? cleaning container
Unfortunately, we do not offer a bat break-in program.
Tyler
Since this is under the new ASA specs does that mean it will have more pop than the older asa or usssa models? director
The biggest change has to do with how ASA performs their tests. In the past, ASA bats were tested with a cannon that fired a softball at the barrel of a bat at 110 mph. This test measured the balls exit speed off of the barrel to ensure the bat"s performance didn"t result in an exit speed greater than 98 mph. In the new test, the ball is fired at 105 mph instead of 110, but allows the exit speed to remain at 98 mph. The decrease in cannon speed allows for a greater bat performance. By slowing down the rate of the ball in the test, manufacturers can increase the speed at which the ball leaves the bat. It's hard to say if it will perform better than USSSA models, as testing is different for both certifications.
Tyler
Is this bat manufactored to perform better with the .52 cor 300 comp. balls? Also, I have heard this bat is thinner and is prone to stress cracks. How true is this, and if so, will it affect performance? homer
The 2013 Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk: SBMABJ was manufactured under the new ASA standards and will perform best with .52 300 ASA softballs. We have no records of durability issues with this bat since its release. Many high end composite bats will develop superficial spiderweb cracks, but this does not effect the performance of the bat in a negative way.
Tyler
Would this bat be good for a cold weather region? mitch0292
The 2013 Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk: SBMABJ Slow Pitch, and any other fully composite bat, is not recommended for use under 60 degrees.
Katie
So which bat between the Mayhem ASA and USSSA gives you more distance? spencer
The ASA 2013 Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk: SBMABJ Slow Pitch will be hotter and give you more distance.
Kara
What are the differences, if any, between the BJ Fulk version of the Worth Mayhem and the traditional Worth Mayhem? B.
If you were comparing the 2014 Worth Mayhem "Booger": MAY120U to this 2013 Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk: SBMABJ Slow Pitch, there are a few differences. This SBMABJ is only approved for play in ASA leagues. The MAY120U is approved for USSSA, NSA, and ISA play. Both models are balanced one-piece composite designs, but they are constructed from different blends of composite materials. It's tough to compare performance between an ASA and USSSA bat; especially without knowing which softball you are hitting. But the swing weight and feel of both bats will be similar.
Mac
Is this a single wall bat? GC
The Worth Mayhem BJ Fulk (SBMABJ) is not a single wall bat.

About the Brand

Worth, Inc. can trace its beginning back to the year 1912, when George Sharp Lannom, Jr. purchased a tannery in Tullahoma, Tennessee and established the Lannom Manufacturing Company. Initially, the firm tanned leather for harnesses and horse collars they manufactured. However, as the automobile grew in popularity, the demand for the company's harnesses and collars declined, so Lannom shifted its manufacturing resources toward production of leather covered baseballs and softballs under the "Worth" brand, and men's leather dress gloves under the "Craig" brand.

Charles (Chuck) E. Parish joined Lannom in 1930 as a salesman and married G.S. Lannom, Jr.'s daughter, Martha Lannom several years later. Following Mr. Lannom's death, Parish acquired controlling interest in the company, which led to a division of company assets between himself and Lannom's son G.S. Lannom III. Lannom maintained the glove works while Parish, "The Baron of Baseballs," built the Lannom baseball business into the world's largest manufacturer of baseballs.

Upon graduation from Vanderbilt University in 1959, Chuck Parish's son, John, joined the Lannom organization. He persuaded his father to expand the company's Caribbean operations and enter the baseball bat business in 1970. In 1975, following the death of his father, John Parish took over the reigns of the company. Under his leadership, the company diversified and expanded its production line and developed the personnel, technical know-how, and physical facilities to become one of the largest and most financially sound manufacturers in the entire sporting goods industry.

The WorthSports Company was formally organized in 1975 as the sales and marketing arm for all sporting goods products and divisions of Lannom. In addition to the normal marketing functions, Worth also emphasizes and provides new product research and development. In fact, the emphasis placed on this development is largely responsible for Worth's leadership role in the sporting goods industry.

When Worth entered the bat business all bats were made from Northern White Ash. Worth then established wood mills in Pennsylvania and New York to provide the strong but relatively lightweight ash wood stock. Then directions were shifted to aluminum and other composites and in 1968 Lannom Manufacturing produced its first aluminum bat. The company's Jess Heald was primarily responsible for its development. The sale of aluminum bats to amateur baseball and softball players mushroomed in the 70's, helping Lannom achieve record results. In 1994, because of market demands, more emphasis was placed on the aluminum division and an expansion was completed in Tullahoma.

One of the first and most significant results of the R&D program was the development of the Polyurethane (Poly-X™) core for baseballs and softballs. This one innovation revolutionized the entire softball world; up to this time, the traditional softball core was constructed of cork and latex. Worth, through the use of "petrochemical" formulation, created a softball that was more consistent in performance and demonstrated extended durability, thereby setting the stage for the establishment of formal specifications and standards for the industry. More recently, the expanded research and development team has made another revolutionary addition to the aluminum bats called the SuperCell EST (Exterior Shell Technology) Bat.

One product Worth is very proud of is its RIF (Reduced Injury Factor) baseballs and softballs. Introduced in baseballs in the late '80's, the RIF design features a polyurethane center that makes the ball softer than the traditional yarn wound ball, while keeping the weight, size and liveliness. The balls are used mainly in youth leagues, where safety is of major concern. The technology is now being used in Worth softballs as well. New technology is constantly being developed to revolutionize the softball industry as we know it today.

In 2007, Worth was acquired by Jarden Corporation and is now a division of Rawlings and Jarden Team Sports.
