Do you need to break this bat in?
Yes, the composite in the 2013 COMbat B3: B3SL1 -12 Senior League bat will need to be broken in. On average about 150-200 soft toss hits should do it. I recommend giving the bat a 1/4 turn rotation every couple of hits to promote even break in.
Why has this bat been discontinued? Is it defective, or prone to breaking or chipping so much that it has to be returned often?
COMbat has not announced their reason for discontinuing the 2013 COMbat B3: B3SL1 -12 Senior League bat. They did release the 2013 COMbat B4 Portent: B4SL1 Senior League bat, which is very comparable to the B3 and may be part of the reason for discontinuing that bat.
When will you have the 31" bat in stock?
The 2013 COMbat B3: B3SL1 -12 Senior League is discontinued. We will not be receiving more inventory.
Can this bat be used with hard balls or is it for soft strike balls in Coach Pitch ?
The 2013 COMbat B3: B3SL1 -12 Senior League is for kid's pitch. Senior League bats are for live pitching. Junior Big Barrel bats will be for Coach Pitch.

Do you have a COMbat B3 in a 30" 22 oz. model?
The 2013 COMbat B3: B3SL1 Senior League bat is a -12 length to weight ratio, therefore a 30" model would be 18 oz.
My son is 6 and 45 lbs and is playing in the Little League pitching machine league. Is the Combat B3 legal? And what size a 26 or 27 inch? Would you recommend the B3 or 27 inch Pure Gear?
The 2013 COMbat B3: B3SL1 -12 Senior League is not legal in Little League. A 2 1/4" barrel is required for Little League play. The B3 is not available in a small barrel bat. We recommend a 27" COMbat Pure Gear: PUREYB1.
I cannot find this bat in a 31" 19 oz. but another player on my son's team has it in a 31" 19 oz?

My 7 year old (57 lbs. and 51" tall) uses a 2 1/4" barrel and a 28" 15 oz. currently. His coach said that his swing is well controlled and that he can use a big barrel. Will the 27" 15 oz. be the correct size for him? Also, out of your 3 choices, will the B3 the best one?
Yes, 28" is the correct recommended size for him. The 2013 COMbat B3: B3SL1 -12 Senior League bat is a great option. I think you would be very happy with it.

The Catalyst will be just a little more evenly balanced with a lighter swing weight compared to the Combat B3.
Also, which bat has the largest sweet spot/barrel length, the B3 or B4?
Both the 2013 COMbat B3: B3SL1 -12 Senior League and the 2013 COMbat B4 Portent will have similar sweet spots. The B4 wll be more balanced than the B3.
Younger son following big bro into travel ball and wants a COMbat. Looking for a big barrel. 9U, swings a 29/16 Omaha now. Avg. size for age. Which one do you recommend?
The 2013 COMbat B3: B3SL1 -12 Senior League would be a good option for your son, as the -12 is going to be the closest to the -13 Louisville Slugger TPX Omaha that he is swinging now. The other COMbat options in the Youth Big Barrel: B4 Portent: B4SL1 and Pure: PURESL1 are both going to be -10.
Is this a coach pitch bat or can it be used with real baseballs...?
The 2013 COMbat B3: B3SL1 -12 is designed for use with real baseballs in kid pitch. If you need a bat for coach pitch, you need to look in the Coach Pitch or Junior Big Barrel section.

If you are old enough to use the 2 5/8 barrel, then the 2013 COMbat B3: B3SL1 -12 Senior League is legal for PONY league play.
Besides being a -12 compared to a -10, what is the difference between the 2012 B3 and the 2013 B3?
The length to weight ratio and color of the bats are the only differences.

The COMbat B4 Portent is more balanced than the 2013 COMbat B3: B3SL1. Both use the same high quality composite material.
Is this bat legal for Little league Junior division?
According to the Little League International website all composite-barreled baseball bats in this division, regardless of barrel size, must meet BBCOR (Batted Ball Co-Efficient of Restitution) standards, and must be so labeled. So, unfortunately this bat would not meet the standards for Junior League baseball.

What is the minimum temperature this bat should be used in?
We recommend not using a composite bat below 45 degrees.
After a very short time (5 games total), a lot of paint has chipped off of the bat. In many places, you can see the underlying material. According to USSSA rules, the bat is no longer usable, and it was removed from our dugout by an umpire last game. Will the manufacturer replace it because of this? We only had the bat for about 2 and 1/2 weeks.

Have seen these online with white handle also, is there a difference in these bats?
Unfortunately, we've never carried the 2013 COMbat B3: B3SL1 -12 bat with a white handle. We would be unable to attest to any differences, but if the other bat you seen has the same model number and length to weight ratio, I assume both are the exact same.
Are you allowed to use this in Little League?
The 2013 COMbat B3 is not legal in Little League.
I got a 28" 18oz. my dad said is too heavy. Would this be a good bat for me?
Yes, the 2013 COMbat B3 would be 16oz. if you got the 28", which would be two ounces lighter than the bat you currently use.
My son just moved up to a 29" 19 oz. Senior League bat and we think it is a little too heavy as his swing has slowed. We are trying to choose between the Combat B3 -12 and the Louisville Slugger SL12T Triton II Senior League Bat -12 29" 17 oz. Do you have opinion on which is better?
The Louisville Slugger TPX Triton II and the COMbat B3 will be very similar as far as performance and swing goes. They are both one-piece bats that are fully composite and both have a ton of pop. You really can't go wrong either one.
What is the diffence with the combat b3 with the white handle and the one with the black handle?
The Combat B3 with the white handle is an Adult BBCOR model. The Combat B3 with the black handle is a Youth Big Barrel bat.
Does a drop 12 have a smaller sweet spot and other performance negatives compared to a drop 10 or drop 8?
No, they will not have a smaller sweet spot. The thing to keep in mind about bats with a -12 length to weight ratio is if they are too light then there wont be much mass behind the ball at contact and you may not get much pop off the bat.
Does this bat come in a 30" 18oz.?
Yes the 2013 COMbat B3: B3SL1 is manufactured in a 30" 18oz. We do not currently have them in stock but we will be getting them in soon.

How does this bat's pop compare to the Easton S1?
The 2013 COMbat B3 and the Easton S1 both have composite barrels, for great pop. However, the COMbat B3 will be stiffer, better for a power hitter.

Can this bat be used in little league? My son is 7 on a select baseball team.
Little League requires the use of a 2 1/4 inch barrel. The B3SL1 -12 has a 2 5/8 inch barrel which exceeds 2 1/4 inches. So the B3SL1 is not legal for play in Little League.

The 2013 COMbat B3 features the new USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp. It will be legal for USSSA play. Check with your coach or league director to be for sure that this bat is legal in your league.

What do they consider "break-in period"? My boy is 9.
We recommend taking between 150-200 hits either off a tee or soft toss. You will also need to make sure you rotate the barrel in between each hit and use the same balls you would normally use in a game.
Does this bat have a break-in period?
Since the 2013 COMbat B3 is a full composite bat, it will require a break-in. Alloy barrel bats are those that will not require a break-in.
Can this bat be used in batting cages?
As long as you use real baseballs in the cage you can use the B3. I just recommend you try to limit how much it is used in the cages though.
Is this made in a 32/20 or 31/19?
The 2013 COMbat B3 is only available in a 30' 18oz. We do have a 2012 COMbat B3: B3SL1 -10 Senior League in a 31" 21oz or a 32" 22oz.
