My son is 12 years old and 5' 100 lbs. He plays year round and is a contact hitter. Would you recommend 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League or the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVDR Senior League bat?
Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 31" model in the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League bat. It features a balanced swing weight, more suited for a contact hitter.
My son is 12 years old and plays year round. He is a contact hitter. Can you compare the CF5 to a B4 Portent? Which would you recommend? And is a 30" 22 oz. a good size to go with?
A two-piece bat like the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League is best suited for a contact hitter. A one-piece bat like the COMbat B4 Portent is best suited for a power hitter. A 30" 22 oz. would be good size for him.
What bat would you recommend for my son, the DeMarini CF5 or the 2013 Easton XL2? He is 58" and 80 lbs.
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League is a balanced two-piece composite and the 2013 Easton XL2: SL13X28 Senior League is an end loaded two-piece with a composite handle and alloy barrel. I recommend the balanced CF5 for a contact hitter, and the end loaded Easton XL2 for a power hitter.

The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League is not approved for Little League play. Little League requires that the barrel diameter be 2 1/4".

No. The DeMarini CF5 DXCFR is a big barrel bat so it would not be legal for Little League. The DeMarini DXCFL Youth would be the bat that is legal for Little League.
I'm 14 years old and I am 5'9" and 160 lbs. This year I'm playing up on a Senior Legion team, which means I am going to be batting against pitchers a year into college. I am looking for a lighter bat to hit against these pitchers. Is this a good option?
Yes, the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League is insanely balanced and free swinging. It would be perfect for you to make sure you keep up with the speeds you will be facing.
My son is 12, playing b-team high school. He has to use BBCOR bats. He is 5'3" 120 lbs., he is using a DeMarini CF5 31" 28 oz. What size big barrel DeMarini CF5 do you recommend he use?
The DeMarini CF5 has a barrel diameter of 2 5/8". BBCOR bats only come in this barrel diameter and 2 3/4" barrels are not permitted in BBCOR certification.
Is BBCOR the same as USSSA 1.15 BPF? I'm trying to determine which bats are approved for my son team.
USSSA and BBCOR are two different ratings standards. BBCOR is for high school and college ball, the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League is a USSSA bat, not BBCOR.
My son is 13 and about 5' 5" and 105 lbs. I was thinking of purchasing a DeMarini CF5: DXCFR, size 32/24. Do you think this is the correct bat and size for a contact hitter?
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League is a great choice for a contact hitter. Based on his height and weight we recommend a 31" 23 oz. bat.
How long does it take to break it in?
I recommend taking 150-200 full contact swings with the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League. Start with about 40% power on your first 50 swings, eventually increasing power as you go along. After each swing, you should rotate the bat 1/4" so all of the materials have a chance to break-in.
My son is 11 yrs old. 4' 10" and 80 lbs. He is a good hitter with very quick hands. We were able to demo a DeMarini CF5 31" 23 oz. Would you suggest that size for his ability level?
A 31" 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League would be the biggest I would go, that is actually above the average length of a 30" for his size.
Is this a good bat for a 6th grader's first big barrel?
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League is DeMarini's top of the line bat and would be a great choice for a big barrel bat.
I'm 11.5 years old, 5'6" & 155 pounds. I like the CF5 a lot and am wondering about size. I'm thinking 32" 24oz. Does that sound right? Should I go bigger?
A 32" 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR would be the perfect size for you.
My son is 11 and he will be playing aau this year. Which big barrel bat would you recommend, the size will be 30" 20oz., the CF5 or the Marucci Elite.
Both the 2013 Marucci Elite and the 2013 DeMarini CF5 will be very high performing bats and equal in performance. If you prefer an alloy barrel go with the Elite if you prefer composite the CF5 is the way to go.
I'm 13 years old and a contact hitter. I'm small for my age so 30 inch drop 8 is the size I need. I'm playing Little League Juniors so I don't know if this bat is legal. I'm looking for a bat with a lot of pop. Do you recommend this bat? Are there any other bats I should take a look at?
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League is not legal in Little League Juniors League. Composite barrel bats must be BBCOR certified. Here is a link of the legal -8 bats: http://www.justbats.com/products/baseball%20bats~youth%20big%20barrel/length~30%20inch/length%20to%20weight%20ratio~-%208/material~half%20and%20half/.
I'm 12 years old, 5'3" and 102 lbs. Should I go with a 32" or a 31"?
For a 12 tear old of your size, I suggest going with the 31" model of the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League.
My son is 11 years old. He is 5' tall and 93 lbs. He will use a drop 8 bat. Should he go with 30" or 31" DeMarini CF5?
For the 11 year old player standing 5" tall and weighing less than 100 lbs. I would go with the 30" bat length. This bat is very balanced and easy to swing. He should have no problem getting it through the zone.
Is it that much different and better than the 2012 CF5 model?
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR features DeMarini's new TR3 F.L.O. Composite that gives it a lighter swing weight and slightly better durability than the 2012 model.
Do you know if this bat is Little League approved for 2013?
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League bat is USSSA approved but it is not Little League approved.
Does the 2013 CF5 -8 have a large sweet spot?
Yes. The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League bat has a large sweetspot with excellent pop.
What are the benefits of buying 2013 versus 2012? Son is 10 and on a travel team.
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League bat features the new TR3 F.L.O. composite and will be more balanced than the 2012 model.
Does the drop 8 have a bigger barrel then the -10????
No. Both the -8 and -10 models have 2 5/8" barrels.
Does the drop -8 have a bigger sweet spot then the -10??
Both the -8 and -10 models have similar size sweetspots.
What is the most balanced bat out of these 3? The CF5(-8), Combat B4 Portent(-8), or the Combat Pure Gear(-8) all senior league?
The DeMarini CF5 is going to be the most balanced bat out of the Combat B4 Portent, and the Combat Pure Gear. The two-piece design of the CF5 is going easily the the most balanced bat.
What sort of break-in is necessary for the new composite bats?
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League has a Two-Piece Fully Composite Design. You can break the bat in with 150 to 200 swings of soft toss or swings off the tee. Remember to rotate the bat 1/4 inch after every swing.
is this bat approved for play in babe ruth 13 year old leauges in 2013?
Unfortunately, the 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR is a full composite big barrel bat that is not approved for play in Babe Ruth.
I have the 2012 love it. But how can this get any better?
By constructing the CF5 using their new TR3 F.L.O. Composite, DeMarini has successfully created their lightest swinging bat yet. TR3 F.L.O. (which stands for Fused Layer Optimized) is a cutting edge material that is the result of the random and naturally chaotic fusing of carbon fibers. This creates a more compact carbon that enables DeMarini to make the new CF5 lighter and stronger than ever before. The stronger design allows for more even weight distribution, which in turn produces faster bat speeds!
I'm 11, would the 31" 23oz. be good for me?
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCRF Senior League bat would be a great choice. Using the Bat Coach Feature on justbats.com it recommends that an 11 year old use a 30" bat model. I also think if you are an experienced 11 year old hitter you could step it up and hit with a 31" CF5. You just need to be able to swing it comfortably and confidently through the hitting zone.
I am 12 years old and I am 5'5" and 102 pounds. I would like to use this bat for at least a year. Would you recommend a 31" 23 oz. or a 32" 24 oz?
Based on your height and weight and amount of time that you would like to use the bat, I would suggest a 32" 24 oz. 2013 DeMarini CF5. That size would allow you to grow into the bat.
Im 12 4 10 and weigh 80 pounds. Ive been using a 29-20 voodoo and am thinking about getting this bat. Would you suggest a 29-21 or a 30-22? thanks
The recommended size would be 30 inches. A lot depends on your current bat speed with your VooDoo. If you have good bat speed then you are probably ready to move up to a 30 inch bat.
How long does it take to warm it up?
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League has a Two-Piece Fully Composite Design. You can break the bat in with 150 to 200 swings of soft toss or swings off the tee. Remember to rotate the bat 1/4 inch after every swing.
Which bat has a bigger barrel the, DeMarini CF5 or the Easton XL1?
The Easton XL1 will have a more extended barrel, whereas the DeMarini CF5 will be more balanced.
I am 5'6" x 126 lbs 13U (in 7th grade). Trying to decide between the 2012 DeMarini CF5 (-8) or if I should wait for the 2013 Easton XL Series (-8). Any advice on how the two products may differ? I hit for power and have good bat speed. Prefer a composite barrel. Have used one piece in the past, but like the feel of the balance swing the CF5 offered.
If you prefer a balanced bat, the 2013 DeMarini CF5 would be the better choice. The Easton XL1 will be slightly end loaded.
Is the CF5 legal for 13 to 15 yr old Babe Ruth?
No, for 13-15 year old Babe Ruth, if the barrel of the bat is composite like this CF5 then it must be BBCOR certified. Here is a link to the BBCOR certified model of the 2013 DeMarini CF5. http://www.justbats.com/product/2013-demarini-cf5-bbcor--dxcfc-adult/15465/
I'm am just wondering if this bat can be used in travel ball.
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR features the newest USSSA stamp, and if you are allowed to use 2 5/8" barrel bats, then this would be legal.
I'm 12 and will be making the jump from Little League to USSSA. Will this bat be legal for next season in USSSA?
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 is legal in USSSA for the 14U age division and below in 2012 and 2013.
I'm 12 years old (a little over 5'6" at almost 130lbs). I've been using the 2011 CF4 32/21, with very hard line drives and HRs in about the 275' range. I'll be going into 7th Grade and was thinking about getting the 32/24 this year and then moving to a -5 for 8th grade and the BBCOR for 9th. Does this makes sense? Thanks!
It sounds like you have a great plan down for the progression you need to reach the BBCOR -3 bats. That's a good jump from the -11 to a -8, but it sounds like with your hitting you will have no problem making that transition.
Which would be better for my 13yr old 8th grader 5'5 and 130 lbs the 2013 cf5 -8 or 2013 voodoo -5?
That all depends on a number of factors. 1) The size bat he is currently using. You don't want to go up more than 3 or 4 ounces in weight from what he is using now. 2) The type of bat he is currently using. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type or brand of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to continue to have success at the plate.
I'm 13 years old and I am 5'6 and 120 lbs. I hit for power and average, and I hit 2nd in the lineup .I'm going into eigth grade. would you suggest getting drop 8, 5, or 3. Thank you
If you're going in to the 8th grade, and given your size, I would recommend a -5 bat. This will help make for an easier transition to a -3 bat at the High School level.
How does this bat compare to the 2012 DeMarini Vexxum DXVXR Senior League bat in terms of balance? I've heard the DXVXR described as slightly end loaded, but I've found it is too much so for my son's taste. He's a 10 y/o, 4'8", 66 lb kid used to swinging a Louisville Catalyst 29/18. I'd be looking at this in a 29/19, but only if it is as balanced as the LS.
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 is a balanced bat. The 2012 Demarini Vexxum DXVXR is a end loaded bat. The 2013 CF5 will have a similar swing weight to the Louisville Slugger Catalyst.
I'm a 5'3 ft 100 lbs. contact hitter who has very quick hands. During 11u i used a -7.5 bat, due to slower pitching. In 12u I used a -9 bat. But this year i'm trying to figure out what bat I should get, the -9 Voodoo or the -8 CF5. What bat do you think I should get?
I would absolutely recommend a -8 model. It's always recommended to move up in weight as you get closer to the High School level. This will ultimately make for an easier transition when you have to use a -3 bat in High School.
In going to have my first year in the Junior Division this fall, and I will most likely be playing travel basebal. I'm interested in buying a new big barrel for myself. This CF5 -8 seems like a bat I want to use. The only thing is I'm not sure if I can use this in little league or travel ball. I'm not quit sure about the bat rules either. I've seen things that say if the bat is composite it has to be BBCOR -3. This bat says it's composite and allowed for use in 2012, but it's not BBCOR or -3. Please respond as soon as possible because I need to know this soon. Thank you very much.
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 is not legal in Junior Division of Little League. All composite barrel bats must be BBCOR certified. Bats that have an alloy barrel are allowed in any drop.
I'm 12, and next year in TSE we have to use -8 -5 -3 and I'm wondering which size I should get in this bat? I am 5'0 and 107 lbs.
Based on your height and weight we would recommend a 30" 22 oz 2013 DeMarini CF5.
Which is a better bat... The 2013 Demarini CF5 or the 2013 Demarini Voodoo?
The DeMarini CF5 and the DeMarini Voodoo are both top of the line bats. The CF5 is a two-piece fully composite bat and the Voodoo is a two-piece hybrid, with a composite handle and an aluminum barrel. Here is a link to compare the two bats. http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Would this composite bat be better for me than the half and half version? I'm a contact hitter that hits in the gaps every time?
Both the DeMarini CF5 and the DeMarini Vexxum are great options for a gap to gap hitter. Here is a link to further compare the differences between the two bats. http://www.justbats.com/compare/
im used to a 19-20oz bat 31 inch would this drop 8 be better than the drop 10?
I would recommend using the drop -10. Typically going up more than 1" or 1oz will require a longer adjustment period.
I am 13 years old and weigh 125 pounds standing 5 foot 8 inches tall and I am wondering whether to get a drop 3 or 8 as I have just finished 7th grade going into 8th. What would you recommend?
The -3 length to weight ratio will be what you have to use the following season in your freshman year of high school, but the -5 would be lighter to swing for your 8th grade year. Its up to you whether you want a bat you can use now and your freshman year or just for the upcoming season.
My son is 12 years old, 4"11 and weighs about 82 pounds. He currently uses a Demarnin Voodoo 30/17, but hit with a friends 30/20 cf5 and LOVED it...given the fact that he is a small kid, is the 20 ounces going to be too heavy for him? Thanks.
That is actually the hardest question for us to answer. It would be hard for us to say whether a 20 ounce bat will be too heavy without being able to see and analyze your son's swing. I recommend finding a 20 ounce bat locally and having him take some dry swings with it to get an idea of whether it's the right weight for him. It is normal to move up 1-3 ounces in weight with every new bat you get.
What is the best way to break this bat in? I received it today and my son has a game on Thursday and this weekend? Thanks!
We recommend taking an average of 150 to 200 swings either off of a tee or soft toss starting at about 40% power and increasing the closer you get to the 200 hit mark. Also, make sure you rotate the barrel in between each hit and use the same balls you would normally use in a game.
Is this bat legal for little league juniors 2013?
This bat should be legal for Little League Juniors in 2013 as long as your sanctioned league is allowing the big barrel 2 5/8 diameter.
When this bat gets under the temperature what happens? Is it still usable?
We don't recommend using the 2013 DeMarini CF5 when temperatures drop below 55 degrees. At this point, baseballs become very dense and can crack the composite material of the CF5.
Will this bat get any cheaper?
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 will not go down in price anytime soon. The price is set by the manufacture and they will determine when the price can go down.
I heard it is top heavy, do you think this is true?
In my opinion, the 2013 CF5 is a balanced bat. However, I am a strong, grown man. Customers I talk to also say is a balanced bat as well.
What is the lowest temperature this bat can be used?
Manufacturers typically recommend you limit usage when it's colder than about 55 degrees outside.
How come the bullet description of this bat says it'd fully composite then it says in the bat comparison it says it's half and half
When they are referring to the half and half construction of this bat, they are referring to the two piece composite technology. So this is still a full composite design by Demarini. Here is the link to view more detail about the DXCFR. http://www.justbats.com/product/2012-demarini-cf5--dxcfr-senior-league/13539/
I am more of contact than power hitter but do i have a chance to get a homerun with this bat?
The DeMarini CF5 DXCFR has a very good amount of pop. It has a balanced feel and when it is broken in fully you will notice the ball jumping off of the bat.
How good of pop does this bat have?
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 DXCFR is going to have great pop. This bat is going to have some of the newest technology used in this bat. The composite barrel is going to have great pop and the way that this bat is made, it will have great durability.
Is the 2013 DeMarini CF5 legal to use even though it is not BBCOR certified?
The 2013 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League is legal unless you are required to use BBCOR bats.
Is this only preorder cause its a 2013 model or can you actually get it like right now?
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 is not on preorder. We have these bats in stock and they are ready ship now!
