Description

New for The DeMarini Voodoo has become the bat of choice for thousands of players all over the country. This year's Voodoo is perhaps the best yet. With a hybrid design featuring an X10 Alloy barrel joined with a TR3 F.L.O. Composite handle, DeMarini has created a baseball bat that is beyond good. DeMarini's brand new alloy, X10, is designed with a proprietary blend of alloy agents that when put together create a barrel with optimal strength. This unique strength allows for finely tuned barrel walls to create the ultimate sweet spot, no matter what regulations may exist. The TR3 F.L.O. Composite handle further enhances the Voodoo's strength, while creating a lighter swing weight than ever before. DeMarini's Half and Half two-piece technology makes YOU stronger by silencing feedback on off-center hits and creating the largest, most responsive sweetspot by flexing before impact and recoiling with a burst of ball-launching energy! The Voodoo's exclusive Ion V End Cap has two layers. One to keep the barrel stiff, while the other transfers energy from barrel to ball with pure over-the-fence power. Constructed with an ever-so-slight endload, the Voodoo feels like you've harnessed the power of a thousand black suns to sacrifice the soul of the fastball. DeMarini: Born Hardcore! The Voodoo features the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp and is approved for play in and beyond. It is backed by a Full Twelve (12) Month Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: Really got good hits off this bat.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVD5? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Does it perform like the 2012 Voodoo? Spartan13
Performance will be similar between the 2012 and 2013 Voodoos. DeMarini did strength the composite material in the handle to give the 2013 model a little added strength.
Tyler
I noticed that the features listed a "slight endload" whereas the 2012 does not say that in it's features list. Will the 2013 Voodoo be a heavier feel than the 2012? Da Dad
The 2013 Voodoo will be fairly similar in weight distribution to the 2012 model, however, holding them side by side, you can notice a slightly more end-loaded feel in the 2013 model.
Tyler
On Demarini's website it says that the handle is made of steel. Will steel perform more like composite or alloy? BronxBomber14
Steel will perform more like alloy.
Zach
Is the 2013 DXVD5 Voodoo top heavy? sexybaseballbeast
The DXVD5 does have a slight end loaded feel to it due to the half and half design. The DXVD5 has great pop and is a very good bat.
Kris
Is the barrell smaller then the CF5? kaden
If you are comparing the Senior League models, both have the same size barrel
Tyler
Besides the the different handle, wouldn't the Vexxum be the same bat as the Voodoo. Which would be better? ryan
The 2013 DeMarini Vexxum and the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo both feature the X10 alloy barrel but have different composite materials that make up the handles. Either bat would be an excellent option. Here is a link to further compare the two bats. http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Tom
Is the 2013 Voodoo better than the 2012 Voodoo? Hoss
The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo is going to have upgraded materials to offer better durability and performance.
Nick
Is this bat considered bbcor? Dom
No. Only Adult -3 bats are eligible for BBCOR certification. This is a Senior League (Youth Big Barrel) bat.
Tyler
whats the differance between the 2012 and 2013 model b#6
The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo has a new paint job, upgraded composite handle, upgraded alloy barrel, and an endloaded swing weight compared to the 2012 model.
Nick D
Would you say a 2013 Voodoo or a Marucci CAT 5. Thanks RyanBaseball
Both are great bats. It really depends on the type of hitter you are. The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo would be best for a contact hitter. It is slightly end loaded. The Marucci CAT 5 is a more balanced bat. It is stiffer, better for a power hitter.
Kara
Is the USSSA BPF stamp painted on or is it put on by laser? We've had issue with the painted stamp smudging on 2012 CF5 and needing to be returned to Demarini. Don't want that hassle again for the money spent. Thanks. Paul R
DeMarini has fixed the issue with their stamps rubbing off. All the 2013 models will feature a permanent stamp.
Tyler
Which bat is better 2012 Voodoo or 2013? And is the end load on the 2013 a bad thing? cb
The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo and the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo are great bats. The 2013 model is better for a contact hitter with some power. The end load on the 2013 will help generate more power.
Kara
Which is better the Easton XL1 -5 or DeMarini Voodoo - 5? cb
The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo and the Easton XL1 are excellent bats. Both are end-loaded, great for a player with some power. The DeMarini Voodoo will be a little stiffer than the Easton XL1.
Kara
Is this bat Little League approved? David831
Yes. The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 Senior League bat is approved for the Junior Division within Little League.
Tyler
I am moving my son up to drop 5 in prep for ms ball. He currently is swinging a -10 XL1 for rec (he likes more then the voodoo) and a drop 8 voodoo in travel. He has a very fast swing speed and is a power hitter, which do you think would be more suited for him the xl-1 or the new '13 voodoo either in drop 5...also will there be a noticable difference in the "end load" moving from -8 or -10? dad
That all depends on which bat he had more success with... the Voodoo or XL1. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate. Both the XL1 and Voodoo are similar in balance as they are both slightly endloaded. Obviously, a -5 version of either will feel heavier than a -8 or -10, but the endloaded "ratio" will be the same with a -5.
Tyler
follow up question (thanks for quick response btw... Which of the 2 xl1/voodoo will have the most flex? That is his only major complaint really with bats is if they feel "whippy" dad
Both will offer a little flex as they are two piece bats. However, the XL1 will have just a little flex compared to the Voodoo.
Tyler
Would this be good for a high school prep bat? King
The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo would be an excellent transitional size to high school.
Kara
Hi what are the differences between this bat and the Easton XL1 -5 I am considering buying either of these two bats. Bumbum
The Demarini Voodoo is a two-piece hybrid design. It will have an alloy barrel and a composite handle. The Easton XL1 model is a two-piece full composite. The Voodoo model will be game ready right out of the wrapper while the XL1 will require a break in period because it has a composite barrel.
John
I saw on the DeMarini site that the 2013 Voodoo comes in a 31" length. Do you plan to carry the 31"? Also, how does the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo compare to the 2012 Marucci Black -5? Which would you recommend for my son who is 13, is 5'2" and 95 lbs. Being small, he is mainly a contact hitter. He used a ExoGrid2 -8.5 last year, but needs to move up to a -5 this year in order to transition to high school ball in 2013/14. giantsfan
On our website, we only show the options that are currently in stock and ready to ship. We will be receiving more 31" models soon. If your son is more of a contact hitter, the Marucci Black would be recommended as it is more balanced than the Voodoo.
Tyler
What type of hitter is this bat for? Win
Because the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 is slightly endloaded, it is a good choice for hitters with above average swing speed.
Tyler
Do they make this in 31in? Alex
Yes. Demarini does make the 2013 Voodoo in a 31" 26 oz. We are currently out of stock on the 31" as of 9/26/2012. Please keep an eye on our website. Once something is available then we have it in stock.
John
Which of the three has longest barrel? The Voodoo, Vexxum, or XL2? tres
The Easton XL2 and the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo will have the longer barrels and they both will be a little longer than the Vexxum. The XL2 and Voodoo have approximately the same barrel length.
Nick
Our league states that the bat must be BBCOR .50, does this bat qualify? Pat
The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 is a senior league bat. Only -3 Adult bats would be classified as BBCOR certified so this bat is not BBCOR certified.
Aubrey
Will this bat be good for leadoff contact hitters? bswag
That depends on the hitter's swing speed. The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 has a slightly endloaded feel and is often preferred by hitters with slightly above average swing speed.
Tyler
Which bat is better the Marucci Black or the DeMarini Voodoo 2013? joker
Both the Marucci Black and the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 are two-piece hybrid bats. The Marucci Black is a very well balanced bat where as the DeMarini Voodoo has a slight end load. Here is a link comparing the two bats http://www.justbats.com/compare/
Aubrey
Which will be better for a contact hitter, the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 Senior League bat or the 2013 Easton XL1? jokes
It depends a lot upon the bat that you have used in the past. The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 Senior League bat is slightly endloaded but if you have had success with an endloaded bat then maybe it would be best to stick with it. Most players have the best success when they continue using what they have been most successful with in the past.
Jeff
Does this bat require break in time? bmial
No. The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo has an alloy barrel, so it will not require break in time.
Damon
What do you think about the other reviews? Most people say that it is the best bat and some people say the bat has an end-loaded feel. Or has no pop. joey
The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 Senior League bat is a great option. It does have a lot of pop and will have an end loaded feel to the swing weight. The Two-Piece design will feature a Composite handle and an Alloy barrel. It will require no break-in period.
Brandon
Is the 2012 Voodoo balanced or is it like the new 2013 Voodoo which is end loaded? joker
Though advertised as a balanced bat, the experts at JustBats.com believe the 2012 DeMarini Voodoo has a more end loaded feel, much like the 2013 Voodoo model.
Doug F.
When does the next Voodoo come out? Ty
Demarini generally will release the new models in May.
John
Does this bat have flex? Bswag
Yes, the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 Senior League bat will have flex. This will be a Two-Piece Hybrid design. The bat will be made with a Composite handle and an Alloy barrel. When you swing through the zone the bat will flex giving you increased bat speed. This Voodoo will also have a slight end load.
Brandon
Is this bat better than the 2013 Vexxum? chadychad
The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 uses a higher grade composite material in the handle and will be stiffer than the 2013 Vexxum. Both are end loaded.
Kara
Since DeMarini just made a new Voodoo for BBCOR will they make any new bats in a -5? Tyler
The DeMarini Vexxum: DXVX5 Senior League baseball bat is currently available in -5.
Jeff
My son is 11 and in 6th grade. He is tall and about 100 pounds. I like the 2013 voodoo, but I'm afraid the 31/26 will be too heavy for him. Is this a bat for older kids? Does it come in a 30/25? If it is too "big" what bat would you recommend. Jim
That's a difficult question for us to answer without knowing the length and weight of his current bat as well as his strength, swing speed, and bat control with his current bat. Feel free to give us a call at 1-866-321-2287 or email at support@justbats.com
Tyler
I need a bat for the season that's starts in April, should I get this Voodoo or is another one coming out soon? Tyler
DeMarini has not released an ETA for their 2014 line. However, it should be around late April or early May. If you need a bat by April, you should go ahead and get a 2013 model.
Tyler
My son had last year's 31/22 Voodoo and liked it. Because of travel ball regulations for his age (14), we are thinking of transitioning with this Voodoo in a 32/27 model. Last year he played travel ball and Pony League, but this year he wants to play travel, Pony and Babe Ruth. Question: Does this bat meet regulation for Babe Ruth? If not, can you make a suggestion? He doesn't want to use more than one bat. Thank you. rhettsdad23
For the 13-15 year old division of Babe Ruth, the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 is 100% legal. It would be a great option for him to use in all leagues.
Tyler
Is this bat the -5 Voodoo legal in juniors? anthony
Yes, the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 Senior League bat is legal for the Junior division of Little League.
Aubrey
Do you have any information about the 2014 Voodoo? ty
DeMarini has not yet released any information on there new 2014 bats.
Noah
Is this a BBCOR bat? Paul
The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 is not BBCOR certified. The BBCOR model is the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR: DXVDC. All BBCOR bats will have a -3 length to weight ratio.
Derek

The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 Senior League will have a upgraded handle and will have a slight endload which is for a power hitter. The 2013 Rawlings Velo is a one-piece alloy and will be more for a contact hitter.
Chad M.

Kara
I am about 5' 5", a big framed boy and am very interested in getting this bat. What size should I get? Jp
We recommend the 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 Senior League in a 32", based on your size.
Katie
Does this bat lose pop or gain it? Tman
The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 Senior League bat will be the best right out of the wrapper and slowly lose its pop over the life span of the bat.
Brandon
I'm more of a contact hitter, who needs a more balanced bat, would you recommend this bat? steelersfan
The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 Senior League has an end loaded swing weight. If you are looking for a balanced bat the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum (DXVX5) Senior League and the 2014 DeMarini CF6 (DXCFR) Senior League are great options from DeMarini.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
