Does this bat have to be broken in?
The 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 Youth is a two-piece hybrid design meaning it has a composite handle and an aluminum barrel. Aluminum barrels do not require a break-in period, and are good to go from day one.
Which is better, the Easton S2 or Easton S3?
Both are good bats. The Easton S2 is a two-piece bat with a composite handle and alloy barrel. The Easton S3 is a one-piece alloy. The Easton S2 will have more flex and the composite handle will cut down on vibration.
Can the Easton S2 be used in cold weather?
The 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 Youth bat, with it's alloy barrel, will withstand slightly colder temperatures than a bat with a composite barrel. However, we do not recommend using any bat in temperatures below 60 degrees Fahrenheit as they become more susceptible to damage.

The 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 Youth has the new USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp.
My son is 135 pounds. He is 5'5", should he be using a 31" or a 30" bat? He is 12 years old and I was wondering if the XL1, S1, or the S2 was the right bat for my son?
The recommended size for him would be a 32" 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 Youth bat. Also, the S1 would be a great choice. Both bats will have a balanced feel and be very easy to swing.
What is the difference between the 2012 S2 and the 2013 S2?
The 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 Youth has upgraded composite in the handle compared to the 2012 Easton S2: YB11S2 Youth.
My son is 5 feet and about a 100 lbs. We want to replace his Easton Convert LT460XL which was 30". He tried an older Easton Stealth Speed and liked it. Would you recommend an Easton S1, S2, or the Easton XL2? Should he move up to a 31" bat?
The 2013 Easton S1: YB13S1 Youth will be the closest model to the Stealth Speed, but the 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 Youth is also a good choice for a contact hitter. The XL series is end loaded for power hitting. I would recommend staying at a 30" bat for your son's size.
Does this bat take time to break in?
The 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 Youth has an alloy barrel so it does not require a break-in period. This bat is hot out of the box.
My son is 10 and smaller for his age. He currently uses a big barrel 29" -10. I am stuck on Easton. He hits to the right side 90% of the time. Should I go with a drop as much as -13 to increase bat speed?
The 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 Youth would make a great drop -13 bat choice and would certainly increase his speed. However, you won't find a big barrel drop -13 bat.
My son is 5'1 and is 120lbs. He is 10yrs old. I was debating about whether the S2 or XL2 is the best choice for him. Also, 31" or 32"? He's on the borderline according to your chart.
The 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 is well balanced and would be recommended for hitters with average to below average strength and swing speed. The 2013 Easton XL2: YB13X2 is endloaded making it a better option for hitters with above average strength and swing speed. If a player is in between sizes according to charts, and you are not sure what size to get based on his previous size bats, it would be recommended to go with the larger size so the player can grow in to it if needed.
I Purchased this bat and after a few hits it appears to have a plastic coating on the barrel it is shedding. We removed the wrapper, starting with a small break in the plastic and then coming off from there. Is this a defect or is the coating supposed to come off?
All of our bats come with a plastic wrapper on it. If you have already removed that then it could be a defect but it would be the color of the bat.
My son is 11 years old, his height is 5'1", and he weighs 90lbs. I brought home the Easton S2 in a 30" 20 oz. Is this the right size for him? He felt like the 31 inch was too long, but seeing the sizing guide maybe that is the better choice.
A 30" is also going to work fine for him. If he feels like a 30" 2013 Easton S2 is the way to go it really probably is.
My son is 10 years old and is 51" tall and 51 lbs. He nearly always makes contact with the ball, but doesn't have a lot of power and mostly hits it towards first base. He did great with the Easton Reflex LX73 Youth 29" 16 oz., but broke it at batting practice today. Would this bat be a good replacement for him?
The 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 Youth would make a great replacement for your Reflex. The addition of the composite handle in the S2 should help your son generate a bit more power on the ball.
We have found a YB11S2 for less money than the YB13S2. I assume this is a 2011 vs a 2013. What is the difference between the two bats. Is the 2013 worth $60 more?
The YB11S2 is the previous years bat, and is being sold at a discount to move them out of inventory. There were no major changes to the overall construction of the bat. Only change would be the paint scheme.
My son used to use a 30" -12 bat and liked it. He is 12 yrs old, 61" tall, and 100 lbs. I'm thinking he should be using a 31" or a 32" bat now. I am unsure of what weight he should be using. What weight bat would you recommended? Should He stick with a -12 as well?
We suggest a 31" bat for your son. I really think he should swinging a -10 or if he is stronger a -8. When he is 13, he will most likely have to go up to a -5. So I would be getting him ready for that.
What is the difference between the S2 and S3? I understand that one is a one piece alloy and the other a two piece hybrid however what does that mean or translate to in terms of comparable performance?Would like to see him increase contact while maintaining his power.
The 2013 Easton S2 is a two-piece bat with an alloy barrel and composite handle. The 2013 Easton S3 is a one-piece alloy bat. Two-piece bats help increase a player's swing speed. Both bats are going to perform relatively the same.
My son currently hits with a 27" 14.5 oz. Rampage. Would the S2 28" 15 oz. be too big? He is 48" tall and weighs 48 lbs.
A 28" 15 oz. 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 Youth bat would a good large size bat that your son could grow into.
Why does the YBS2 and YBS3 come in a -13 and the YBS1 only in a -12?
Easton would be better suited to answer that question for you. Their phone number is 1-888-259-1297.
11 year old son has used a Convert 29/17 the last 1.5 years. He is around 4'11 and 92 lbs. Has good control of the bat/hand eye coordination and looking at the 31" S2 even though the 30" is recommended. Even choking up a little bit is 31 too long? Thanks.
That's hard for us to say without being able to actually see and analyze your son's swing with that size bat. He should be just fine choking up a bit, but I would recommend finding a similar size bat locally and have him take some dry swings with it to get an idea of how it feels.
Do half-and-half bats have a longer sweet spot than a full composite bat (trading off a little bit of power)? If so, would that make an S2 better than an S1 for contact hitters?
Two-Piece Hybrid Designs do not have a larger sweet spot than full composites do.
My son is 9 years old, 4'9' and weighs 80 pounds. would a 30" 17 oz. be correct or should I look at a different size as he hits for more contact than power?
I think a 30" 17 oz. or a 30" 18 oz. would be the right size for your son.
my son is 10 y.o. 70 lbs and 58 inches tall. According to size chart he should get 30 inch bat. Would it hurt to get 31 inch so he can use it longer as he grows or would it be too much bat for him this season?
We would be unable to answer that question without knowing; 1)The length and weight of his current bat, and 2)His swing speed and bat control with his current bat.
My son is 4'7 and 66lbs. He is a contact hitter with a little slow bat speed. He is very fast and hits lead off. What do you recommend?
The Easton S2 or even an Easton S1 would be a perfect bat for your son. The two-piece balanced design helps increase swing speed, because of the flex in the barrel.
I have a 13 year old 180lb son that likes the Easton S2 due to the way it feels when hitting. at demo day he used -3 like this but doesn't need the bb core until next year for high school rules. this is -13 what is the difference on that and how it will hit for him? is it weight?
A -13 Youth bat is going to be very, very small for a 13 year old player. If he uses it, don't expect it to last very long as it is better suited for younger players. If he needs to use a youth small barrel bat, I would recommend something in a -10 length to weight ratio.
I have a 10 year old that hits line drives. What is the difference in performance between the Easton S1 and S2? Should I consider the S3?
All three bats are balanced. The Easton S1 is a two-piece composite, whereas the Easton S2 is a two-piece bat with a composite handle and alloy barrel. The composite barrel on the S1, after broken in will get hotter out of the wrapper than the S2. The Easton S3 is a one-piece alloy bat so will not have the flex of the S1 or S2. The highest performing of the three for a contact hitter is the Easton S1.
My 11 year old son is 4'7 and 63 lbs. He is a contact hitter with quick hands. He doesn't know if he should get the S1 or S2 and if he should get the recommended 29" or get the 30" so he won't grow out of it for next season. What would you suggest?
That all depends on the length and weight of his current bat, his swing speed and bat control with that bat, and what bat he has used previously with the most success. You are more than welcome to contact us at 1-866-321-2287 or support@justbats.com.
My son is almost 9 but 90 pounds. Used a -13 right now with the Voodoo (Black). Would this be a good option for him or perhaps XL? May be too heavy for him on the XL? Voodoo has alot of pop. Worried this does not.
The 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 Youth is a great option for him. It is very balanced and has great pop. We would not recommend the Easton XL because of the end loaded feel.
My 7 year old/coach pitch is using a 2 3/4" s1 25/13. Would the 28/15 be too much of a jump? Also how would 2 1/4 compare to using the 2 3/4?
That all depends on his swing speed and bat control with the 25" 13 oz. bat he is currently using. If he has good swing speed and good bat control, then he shouldn't have a problem moving up to a 15 oz. bat. After all, it is completely common and recommended to move up 1-3 oz. with every new bat. A 2 3/4" bat will offer more surface area for contact and a larger sweetspot.
Do you think the S1 or S2 is better for my son he just turned 11 and is around 4-11 and weighs 100 pounds and is just starting to hit
That all depends on what he has used previously. It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate.
My son is 9 yrs old and used the Easton Surge 30" 17 oz bat for kid pitch fall ball. He is approximately 53 inches tall and weighs 77 pounds. He has an average bat speed so, would the 30" 17 oz S2 be a good bat for next spring?
Yes, the 30" Easton S2 would be a great fit for your son. If he grows and becomes stronger between now and the spring, you could consider using a 30" 18 oz. bat.
My son is 11 and currently using a 30 inch 17 oz bat. I am looking to get him a new bat for next season. He is 5"3' and weighs 140lbs. I am looking at the Easton S2. Would the 31 - 18 oz bat be a good fit for him? His bat speed is a little above average.
Based on his height and weight, the 31" 18 oz. is the correct size in the 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 Youth. This bat has a very balanced swing weight and would be a good option for him.
would you recommend the XL2 for a successful S2 user?
If you are having success with the S2 you could move into the XL2, however; if you are having success with the S2 you may want to stick with it as long as it is working for you.
I am currently 10 and am using a -13 30/17 easton pb s2 and am having great success with it, what would you recommend for next?
It's always recommend that a player stick with the same type of bat they have used in the past with the most success. In doing so, the player is much, much more likely to have continued success at the plate. Thus, I would absolutely recommend sticking with the Easton S2.
Whats the difference in the composite from last year?
The handle on the 2013 Easton S2: YB13S2 is made with a new SIC composite that will have the same performance as last year but will offer better protection against vibration and sting.
