What are the differences between the XL3 and XL1 besides one being -5 and the other one - 8?
The Easton XL1 is a two-piece full composite design. The Easton XL3 is a one-piece all alloy design. Both are produced by Easton in a -5 drop. Easton also produces the XL1 in a -8 drop while the XL3 is available in a -9 drop.

Yes, we recommend moving up in weight at the age of 13. I would either look at a -5 or a -8 depending on how the player can control the bat. Personally, I think he is ready for a -5. He will notice the difference in weight and may take a little bit of time to adjust. It is better to slowly transition now instead of making a large jump from a -10 to a -3 once he begins High School.

They say the speed edition is made for faster swing speeds but this bat the XL is a drop 5 so how is the other s4 faster?
The S Series has a lighter swing weight for players with average or below average swing speed looking for a little help in increasing their swing speed. The XL Series is endloaded for player who already have good swing speed looking to add more inertia and power. The S4 has a 2 1/2" barrel and will offer a much lighter swing weight than the XL3.
