My son hit with the -10 31-21 Omaha last season. This year his hitting coach has him swinging a -5 32-27. In games with faster pitching he is hitting everything to the right side. He is about 5' 115#. Would this be a good bat for him?
Generally, it is not recommended a player move down in bat weight. This is because as the player gets older (Middle School and High School age), he'll have to start using a much heavier bat than a -10. However, if he had below average swing speed and below average bat control with a -5, then it may be a good idea to move down in bat weight. Based on his size and previous bats, a 32" 22 oz. model of the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Vertex XL: SL13VXL would be the best choice.
What is the minimum temperature the bat should be used in. Should this bat not be used in 60 and below temps?
We suggest that you don't use the 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Vertex XL: SL13VXL Senior League in temperatures under 60 degrees. The ball will become dense and heavier and that is what can break it the bat.

Will my son's 2012 Vertex lose it's pop? He played 11U travel last spring and summer. Then he played in a fallball league and practices indoors twice a week all winter. Will his Vertex lose it's pop for the 2013 (12U) season? He used a 31" length, which should be a good length for this season too. Does he need to get the new 2013 Vertex? Thank you.
