Questions and Answers for 2014 COMBAT Portent Senior League Baseball Bat: PORSL112

92332

What is the age range for this bat?

There is not a set age range that would use this bat. The 2014 COMBAT Portent (PORSL112) can be used in all leagues that allow for a big barrel, composite bat that do not require BBCOR certification. Once the player reaches high school, they would need to switch to a heavier BBCOR certified bat.

Will you guys be getting this bat with a 32"/27 oz. length to weight ratio anytime soon?

The 2014 COMBAT Portent (PORSL112) has been discontinued. Typically, we do not receive discontinued products back in stock.

I have a 12 yr old in 12u USSSA sanctioned league play, Dallas, TX area. He is about 5'4" and 138 lbs. Has a strong and quick / contact bat speed ability. Obviously the bat has a bit to do with that. We have a end loaded bat D-Voodoo and am looking for a bit lighter quicker bat. Question is which would you recommend this 112 -12 series or the 110 -10 series? Reviews show some problems with the 112 over the 110?

The 2014 COMBAT Portent (PORSL112) is not recommended for a player his size and bat speed. We recommend the PORSL110 for his size.

How does this bat compare to the MAKO? My son is more of a contact hitter than power hitter.

The one-piece design of the 2014 COMBAT Porten (PORSL112) is typically used by a power hitter. The MAKO is a two-piece bat and better suited for a contact hitter. Both are very high performing.

My son is 7 yrs old (4'5" 87 lbs) he has a quick swing but has long extension through the zone and considered a power hitter with his strength. What combat bat would you recommend?

I would recommend the 2014 COMBAT Portent (PORSL112) for your son. The one-piece composite design will provide a stiff feel and should benefit your sons playing style.

My 7 yr old son (~4' 50 lbs.) is using an Easton S1 Jr. Big Barrel (26"/14 oz.) with good bat speed but not a lot of strength. Any recommendations for a 2 5/8" barrel bat?

The 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL112 Senior League is a great choice, and is one of the only models that comes in a 2 5/8" barrel. It's a balanced model with a huge sweet spot. The 2013 Louisville Slugger TPX Catalyst: SL13C Senior League is the other option we currently have.

Same pop as the -10 version? My son has Easton S3 -10. I figure more bat speed would help, what do you think about this bat? My son is 9, weighs only 68 lbs, currently swinging 28" 18 oz. Easton.

The 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL112 Senior League and the 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL110 Senior League use the same composite materials. They will be similar in performance. The 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL112 is a very balanced bat and would be great for increasing bat speed.
