I am 5'8" 112 lbs. I am a contact hitter, but I hit 3 bombs last year. What size should I get? Would this be a good bat for me?

Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 31" model in the 2014 DeMarini CF6 (DXCFX) Senior League. The CF6 has a balanced swing weight and is a great option for any hitter type of hitter.

What is the break-in recommendation? Can it be rolled?

The 2014 DeMarini CF6 (DXCFX) along with other composites, comes with a recommended break-in of 150-200 swings off of a tee or with soft toss. Rolling is an older technique used to break-in composite bats. We do not recommend doing any alternative break-in methods, like rolling or shaving. These methods normally do more harm than good, and will void any warranty that comes with the bat.

Is there more or less pop than the Mako?

Both the 2014 DeMarini CF6 (DXCFX) Senior League and the 2014 Easton MAKO (SL14MK9) Senior League will be similar in terms of pop and performance. They both live up to the 1.15 BPF or Bat Performance Factor required for play. So at their peak they will have similar performance levels.

Why is this bat not legal for Babe Ruth?

2014 DeMarini CF6 (DXCFX) is not legal for Babe Ruth play due to its 2 5/8" barrel size. However, the 2014 DeMarini CF6 (DXCFL) is a model that it is Babe Ruth approved.

Will this bat hit the ball as far and as a good one piece composite bat? The Combat for example.

Yes, the 2014 DeMarini CF6 (DXCFX) is one of the best bats available today. The Paradox composite is some of the hottest material you can get. The two-piece design helps add a little whipping action to the swing, which can help increase distance.

Correct. This 2014 DeMarini CF6 (DXCFX) Senior League bat is not approved for any division in Babe Ruth baseball. For the division that allows the use of a Youth Big Barrel/Senior League bat, any bat with a composite barrel must be a BBCOR model with -3 length to weight ratio.

My son is 9 1/2 years old. He is 4 foot 6 and weighs 90 pounds. What size would you recommend? Drop weight -10 or -8?

Based on the player's height and weight, we would suggest a 30 inch 2014 DeMarini CF6 (DXCFX) Senior League bat. The preference on drop weight would be based on how comfortable the player is swinging a heavier bat. In general, it is best when transitioning to a heavier bat, to stagger that transition so the player is able to adjust and build up swing speed more gradually.

Patrick Expert ·Mar 02, 2014

84635

Can I hit batting cage rubber balls with my DeMarini CF6?

While you certainly can hit the yellow batting cage balls with your bat, we would not recommend doing so, especially if you are just breaking in your DeMarini CF6 compostite bat. The dimpled balls used by pitching machines are denser than regular baseballs, and as such cause more wear and tear on bats and have a greater chance of damaging the bat, especially at higher pitching velocities and bat speeds. We would recommend having another bat for batting cages that is the same length and weight as the bat you plan to use in games.

Kyle J Expert ·Mar 02, 2014

84632

Can I hit rubber dimple batting cage balls with my DeMarini CF6?

We would not recommend using the 2014 DeMarini CF6: DXCFX Senior League with rubber dimple balls. Those balls tend to damage the bat more than regular baseballs due to their density. Using these balls may also void the warranty on the bat.

The 2014 DeMarini CF6 (DXCFX) Senior League is ideal for a contact hitter with its balanced swing weight. However, if the player hits for power and already has good bat speed, the Overlord is the best option. The Voodoo Overlord has an end loaded swing weight and is ideal for a player with power.

My son is a contact hitter but his swing is slow. He is using last year's XL1 30/20 and it is end loaded. Is the CF6 or Vexxum bat better suited for contact hitters?

Yes, the 2014 DeMarini CF6: DXCFX Senior League and also the 2014 DeMarini Vexxum would both be great for a contact type of hitter. They will feel very balanced and easy to swing. They also will not feel barrel heavy like the Easton XL-Series does.

Other than the obvious, what is the difference in size of the barrel? I have a 9 year old that swings a 27/17 and I think I'm going to move him up to a 29/19. He currently has a 2 3/4" barrel. Why would someone swing a smaller barrel? Isn't the bigger the barrel the easier to hit?

The bigger 2 3/4'' barrel does give you more hitting room. However, not all leagues allow the use of these bigger barrels. Also, smaller barrels are sometimes better suited for smaller kids because they will be lighter weight.

My son is a contact hitter that plays on a 11u major team. I typically try to help him with this decision each year but with all the technology, we are stumped. Which bat would be the best and why in your opinion, the CF6 and MAKO?

The 2014 DeMarini CF6 (DXCFC) has a D-Fusion handle and uses Paradox composite which helps extend the sweet sport throughout the entire barrel. The 2014 Easton MAKO (SL14MKB) has an extended barrel that creates a bigger sweet spot. The MAKO and the CF6 have similar size sweet spots and will be comparable in performance.
