Questions and Answers for 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Youth Baseball Bat: DXVDL

My son is 4' and only 40 lbs. He has been using a 29" 17 oz. Easton S500 during the summer season. His bat speed is kind of slow. He hits hard to the outfield with it. I want to shorten up his bat so he does not have to choke up. Would the 28" 15 oz. help with bat speed without losing power?

The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD Youth Baseball Bat (DXVDL) in the 28" 15 oz. size would be fine for him. The extended barrel length will still feature the power you need and have better performance. It will be an overall better bat compared to the Easton S500.

My son is 9, 4'7" and 66 lbs. We are thinking of the 30" 17 oz. He is currently swinging a 29" 18 oz. and 28" 18 oz. (big barrel) The new bat would be for next fall and spring. What do you recommend?

The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD (DXVDL Youth) would be a great option for a youth hitter looking to add a little pop. The end loaded feel will add a slight barrel heaviness to the swing weight. Another great option would be to checkout the Easton MAKO youth bat, if you like a more balanced option.

I am 11, 4' 11" and need a new bat for Majors. I'm currently using the 2013 Voodoo and I've been hitting well with it. I hit many doubles, but don't know if I am much of a power hitter or a contact hitter. I thought of this bat because its a good hitter and has lightness to it. I'm comparing the S2 to it, but which should I get and why?

The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD (DXVDL) and the 2014 Easton S2 (YB14S2) are both two-piece bats. They both use top of the line alloy and composite materials. The OVERLORD is an end loaded bat and best for a power hitter. The S2 is a balanced bat and is better suited for a contact hitter that needs to increase their bat speed.

My son used a 31/19 aluminum bat, and had good power. He is ten years old and 95 lbs. His previous bat is too old to pass inspection, and the voodoo does not come in a 31/19? What bat do you recommend?

The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum: (DXVXL) would be a great choice to take a look at it. We do have it available right now in a 31/19. It is a two-piece hybrid design, and will be extremely balanced. The even weight distribution will make it very easy to generate a faster bat swing. The C6 composite handle will also offer a little bit more flex and trampoline. This model has been very popular, has great reviews, and is very high performing.

We do not suggest using the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD (DXVDL) Youth will yellow cage balls. Those balls are designed much differently than baseball and will damage both alloy and composite.

Can this bat be used in temperatures below 50 degrees? My son's U9 team has a game this week and the game-time temp is going to be around 40-45 degrees. Can the DeMarini Voodoo be used in this temp? The pitchers don't throw that hard at this age.

We do not recommend using any non-wood bat, including the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD (DXVDL) Youth, in temperatures below 55°F (13°C). In those temperatures, the ball becomes much more dense and could damage or shorten the useful life of your bat. Composite can crack, and alloy can dent, so neither material is proven to be better in cold weather, unfortunately. I know it's often unavoidable, but it's good to be aware of.

What would be "the bat" to be hitting home runs with. It's my last year on the Little league field and I'm looking to crush the ball. I'm thinking about this bat but I'm not sure. I'm 90 lbs and I'm 5.0 foot. What would be a good bat for me and what size?

The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD: (DXVDL) Youth is a great bat for power-hitters. It will be a hybrid-design and the technology used on the end-cap and handle will eliminate vibration. Based off of your height and weight, we would recommend 30 inches. The construction will be stiffer, however, the power will be very explosive with this particular model.

I am 6'0 158lbs i am swinging the easton mako now (32 ,29)I was wondering if i should use the Voodoo OVERLORD or stick with the mako. I am more of a power hitter. Also what size bat should i be swinging

Based on the approximations of your height and weight the suggested size for you would be 33 inches. If your game style is more representative of a power hitter, I would suggest using the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD, because it will be a hybrid end-loaded design which works great for power hitters. If your style of play resembles more of a contact hitter, I would suggest using the 2014 Easton MAKO because it is a balanced two-piece composite design and will cater more to that style of play.

Which would be better for my 10 year old son that weighs about 73 lbs, the Voodoo or Vexxum? He has a quick swing but not necessarily a "power hitter".

The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD (DXVDL) is and end loaded bat and typically designed for a power hitter. The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum (DXVXL) is a balanced bat and best for a contact hitter.

My son is currently using an Easton Reflex (lx73) and I would consider him a power hitter. Hit more home runs than singles, usually hits the ball to the outfield in the air. He really wants this bat, but I am wondering if it would be good for him, or if something more balanced would be better.

The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo Overlord would be a great bat for a power hitter.

My son is 7, 4ft, 1 in tall & 55 lbs. It's too early to tell contact vs power, obviously, but he puts the bat on the ball very well with good mechanics for his age. Is the 29" 16 oz. OVERLORD a good choice for him? I had him swinging a friends 29" 17 oz. Vexxum & he was dragging his hands a tiny bit through the zone so I'm hoping the Overlord would eliminate that. Thoughts?

The 2014 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD (DXVDL) is end loaded, and typically better for a player with quick bat speed. The 2014 DeMarini Vexxum (DXVXL) is a more balanced bat and is a good option for a player that needs to increase their bat speed.
