How long is the barrel?

Unfortunately, we don't receive barrel lengths from the manufacturer. Since the 2014 Easton S500 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14S500) is a balanced bat, generally, the length will be about 10-11".

Has there been any feedback as far as performance is concerned comparing this bat to the Reflex? I know this is the "newer" model, but sometimes the older models perform better.

At this current time, we have not had a lot of feedback on the 2014 Easton S500 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL14S500) to adequately compare both the performance and durability to the older model Reflex. Both bats are manufactured from the 7050 Aircraft alloy material, so they will perform very similarly to each other.

My son is starting middle school baseball. I'm confused about which bats are legal. Can they use BBCOR bats or USSSA 1.15 BPF certified bats?

The 2014 Easton S500 (SL14S500 Senior League) would come with the USSSA 1.15 BPF certification. As far as middle school is concerned, rules are different all over the country. It is best to check with a coach or league director. The BBCOR bats are more restrictive and lower performing than the USSSA 1.15 BPF bats. You will not have an issue using a BBCOR bat in your league due to the more restrictive guidelines, but they are significantly heavier than the USSSA models. If you can use them, I would highly suggest a USSSA certified bat over a BBCOR for a middle school athlete.

My son is 14 and used a -8 voodoo last year. He is a contact hitter. Would this be a wise choice to get him used to a heavier bat?

The 2014 Easton S500 (SL14S500) would be a great option for him to go with. It features a balanced weight design which is favored by contact hitters. In comparison to the heavier (and end loaded) design of the Voodoo, this would be a good choice and will.

Is this bat BBCOR?

The 2014 Easton S500 (SL14S500) Senior League does not feature the BBCOR .50 certification stamp. The BBCOR certified S500 is the 2014 Easton S500 BBCOR (BB14S500) Adult.

Is this basically the same bat as the 2013 Easton Reflex?

Yes, the 2014 Easton S500: SL14S500 Senior League is the new model that has replaced the Reflex. It is made from the same 7050 Alloy and will provide a very similar feel to the Reflex.

Hello, what is the big difference between the S500 and XL3 -5 bat? My son is 12 and plays 13U AAA USSSA ball. He hits for both average and power. Thanks!

The 2014 Easton S500: SL14S500 Senior League and the 2013 Easton XL3: SL13X35 Senior League are both one-piece bats. the 2013 Easton XL3: SL13X35 Senior League is end loaded and best for a power hitter.

Is this going to be a good bat for me, I am 12 years old heading into big barrels and I am 5' 2" and around 120 lbs. Would a 32" 27 oz. bat be good for me?

Based off of your size the 32" 27 oz. is going to be perfect for the length, but it might be a little heavy since it is a -5. You might try to go with a -8 bat for your first big barrel.
