Questions and Answers for 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB14X1

Which wood bats have a similar handle to this?

Some common turn models that offer a 29/32" handle include the I13, 141, and many versions of the 243. For an overall feel most similar to the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14X1), I would suggest a 243 turn model.

My son wears out bats very fast. He is a power hitter. I usually buy two bats a year. What bat would you recommend? He is 5 foot 7 and weighs 180 pounds.

The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14X1) is a great model for a power hitter and has good durability. The alloy barrel 2014 Easton XL3 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14X3) is also a nice end-loaded bat that is durable and good for a power hitter.

I'm 6' and 155 lbs. I have pretty good bat speed. Would I be able to handle a 33" XL1?

Based on your approximate size, I would estimate that you would be able to handle it. The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat: (BB14X1) is an ideal model for power players. If your game is representative of a power players game, then yes, this model will work well for you.

What is the average break in time for this bat?

We recommend 150-200 swings off a soft toss or a tee, to get the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14X1) broken in properly. The break in time can be done within one batting practice session. Here is a link to a great video that breaks down how we recommend getting a bat broken in: http://goo.gl/ZXl556

What is the difference between this model and the new one?

The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14X1) and the 2015 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15X1) are very similar in terms of design and overall performance. The differences between the two will be mostly cosmetic in nature.

I am trying to decide on bat for a 14 year old. He is 6' 190 lbs and has good hand speed. Can you tell me the difference between the S1, XL1 and the MAKO?

The similarities between the three bats is that they are all two-piece fully composite bats. The Easton S1 has a balanced swing weight and is a terrific bat for a contact hitter. The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14X1) has an end loaded swing weight with an extra long barrel, which provides the bat with one of the biggest sweet spots on the market. The XL1 is typically a great bat for power hitters. The Easton MAKO combines the balance of the Easton S1 and the extra long barrel from the XL1 into one bat. The MAKO also uses Easton's newest TCT Thermo Composite making it one of the lightest swinging BBCOR bats available. The MAKO is a generally better for a contact hitter.

I am 5 foot 5 and weigh 104 pounds. What bat would be best between the Mako or the XL1?

Both the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14X1) and the 2014 Easton MAKO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14MK) would be nice options. The preference would be based less on your size and more on whether you prefer a balanced feel like on the MAKO or an end-loaded feel like the XL1.

I am 5 foot 7 and weigh 135 pounds. Do you think I could handle this bat in a 32 inch or a 31 inch size?

If you like an end-loaded feel like what is featured on the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14X1) a 31 inch size would probably fit the best for you.

I have slow hands and I am 14. I am really strong so I have a ton of pop but I need a bat that can help me get my hands around. What bat do I need?

The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14X1) is a terrific bat for power hitters, but is not a great option for players that need help increasing their bat speed. The Easton MAKO is a better option for power hitters who need to increase their bat speed. The MAKO is one of the lightest swinging and most balanced BBCOR bats on the market.

I am 14 years old, 5'2" about 110 lbs. What size bat should I use? Is the XL1 still available?

Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 31" bat. However, we no longer have the 31" models available in the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14X1).

Is the Easton XL1 better than the DeMarini CF6?

Both the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14X1) and the 2014 DeMarini CF6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCFC) are nice options and perform very well. The major difference would be that the CF6 is balanced and the XL1 is end-loaded and has a slightly extended barrel.

95559

I'm 15, 5 foot 10 and a power hitter, would the XL1 be a good choice bat? Is there a big difference between the XL1 and the Mako?

Yes, the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14X1) is a great option for a 15 year old power hitter. The XL1 and the Mako are both very good bats, the difference between the two is that the Mako is going to be balanced in feel and the XL1 will have an end loaded feel.

Sean Expert ·Jul 27, 2014

94923

What is the difference in the IMX composite and the TCT composite of the Mako?

The TCT Composite featured on the 2014 Easton MAKO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14MK) is constructed in a way that allows for a similar barrel size to the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB14X1) without the additional end-loaded feel. The TCT allows for a better balance with similar maximum performance.

Does this bat come in 31 inch?

Is the performance in this 2014 model the exact same as in the 2013 model?

In this particular model, the biggest difference between the 2013 model and 2014 is primarily going to be cosmetic changes. Therefore, the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR: (BB14X1) will have a very similar performance, because they will both incorporate the same IMX Composite Barrel, and SIC Black Carbon Composite Handle.

Which bat is better for power hitting this bat or the BBCOR Easton Omen BNC2?

The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR (BB14X1) has been preferred by the power hitters because of the massive barrel and an end loaded sweet spot. The Easton Omen BNC2 model will be more of a balanced design.

John Expert ·Jun 25, 2014

93343

Which bat has a bigger sweet spot? The new 2014 Easton XL1 or the Easton Omen BNC2?

93298

Which bat is better for power hitters, this, or the 2015 Louisville Slugger Prime 915 BBCOR?

The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR (BB14X1) will have a longer barrel length. I see many power hitting guys loving the XL1's swing weight and feel. The all new 2015 915 BBCOR will provide a great swing weight and balanced feel. The 915 would be made for contact and power guys.

Brandon Expert ·Jun 24, 2014

92953

Is there a big difference between the XL1 and the DeMarini CF6?

Yes. The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR (BB14X1) will be end-loaded and have a more extended barrel than the 2014 DeMarini CF6 BBCOR (DXCFC) which is a more balanced bat.

Why has this bat been discontinued?

I am 13 and 120 lbs. What Easton should I get? What size?

The best way to determine the correct bat size for a player is based on their height and weight. However, 13 year old players typically use a 32" bat. Power hitters tend to prefer the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR (BB14X1) because of the end loaded swing weight. If you are more a contact hitter, the Easton S1 would be a better option. My son just turned 13. He's 5'5" and 115 lbs. He was just using the XL1 Youth this last season. He now has to move up to a BBCOR. He has fast hands. Which bat do you recommend?

The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR (BB14X1) will still have that barrel heavy feel. The Easton S1 would swing easier as a BBCOR model and will feel more balanced. Both will be two-piece composites and have great pop.

I'm 13 years old, and 120 lbs. I am in need of a BBCOR bat for my travel team. Do you think this would be a good choice?

The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR: (BB14X1) would be an excellent choice, especially if you are able to generate power easily. The two-piece full composite design will be slightly end-loaded for added power. This model will have an extra long barrel, but will be very light. If you are a player that hits for power, this model will fit your playing style extremely well.

I'm 6'1" and 160 lbs. I have good hand speed, but was wondering, will this bat be good for me?

The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR: (BB14X1) will be a great bat if you are a power hitter. This model will be slightly end-loaded, therefore, if you have good hand speed this should not be a problem. The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR: (BB14X1) incorporates high quality materials, and will be high performing. It would be an excellent bat to take a closer look at.

I am going to a -3. I am currently using an easton surge -10. Would this be a good bat for me?

The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR (BB14X1) is a great choice for any hitter that prefers an elongated barrel with an end loaded feel.

Bobby Expert ·May 27, 2014

91239

What has more pop the XL1 or Voodoo Overlord?

Unfortunately, one is not proven to be better than the other. The XL1 and Overlord both have slightly end loaded swing weights with a two-piece design. The XL1 may provide a slightly longer useful life with the composite barrel, but both are great options for a power hitter.

I'm 13 6'1" and 190 lbs. I use the CF5 29 oz., 32" I'm thinking about buying the Easton XL1 27 oz. 32." What is the best choice to go with?

The CF5 along with the 2014 Easton XL1 (BB14X1) are bother very good bats. If you are looking to generate a little more power in your swing I would go with the Easton XL1 (BB14X1). Unless you are wanting to just develop a quick swing I would stick with the CF5. According to your height and weight I would recommend a 33" length in the 2014 Easton XL1 (BB14X1).

I'm looking for a new bat. I mostly hit line drives with doubles and home runs mixed in. Even though I'm short, I'm pretty strong. Would this bat, or the S1 be recommended?

I would probably suggest the 2014 Easton S1 BBCOR: (BB14S1) because it will have a very even weight distribution. This model will be balanced, and will fit the variety of your game very well. This model will also allow you generate extra bat speed a little easier as well.

The 2014 Easton MAKO BBCOR: BB14MK is a good balance between the Easton S series and Easton XL series. It is balanced like the Easton S1 but has the extended barrel like the XL1, so it would be good for a contact hitter with some power.

A 32" 29 oz. in the 2014 Easton XL1 (BB14X1) would be a good size for you. The Easton XL1 (BB14X1) would be good for a batter who wants to hit for power.

I am 5'3" 110 pounds, which Easton should I get?

According to your height and weight I would recommend a 30" length in the 2014 Easton XL1 (BB14X1). Easton offers something for everyone. If you are looking for a balanced swing weight design that tailors toward contact hitters I would recommend a bat from the Easton "S" series. If you are looking for an end loaded bat that is designed for power hitters I would recommend a bat from Eastons "XL" series like the Easton XL1 (BB14X1)

90550

Which bat has a bigger end load: the XL1 or the OVERLORD?

The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR (BB14X1) and the OVERLORD have pretty similar end loaded swing weights. However, the OVERLORD tends to feel a little more end loaded because of the alloy barrel design. The fully composite design on the XL1 makes the end load feel a little less drastic.

I'm about 5'4" 130 lbs looking for a good -3 bat. I am stuck between the XL1 and MAKO. I am small, mostly a contact hitter, and I'm looking for more power in my swing. Which of these do you recommend?

As a contact hitter, I would suggest looking for a two-piece, balanced bat. Therefore, I would probably suggest going with the 2014 Easton MAKO BBCOR: (BB14MK). This model, once it is broken in, will also be able to provide you with a lot of pop. However, based on your playing style, this model would fit you extremely well.

What are the difference between this bat and the TPX Attack bat? Are there any pop or sweet spot differences?

The 2014 Easton XL1 will have a larger hitting surface than the Louisville Slugger Attack which allows for a larger sweet spot. The XL1 will also have an end loaded feel compared to the balanced feel of the Louisville Slugger Attack (BBAT14-RR).

I currently swing a Exogrid 33/30 and am looking between the XL1 and MAKO. I'm a power hitter. Which model do you recommend?

Both models are going to be a two-piece full composite design. It will come down to a personal preference between balanced vs. end loaded design. The MAKO (BB14MK) is a very well balanced option while the XL1 (BB14X1) model is going to have an end loaded swing weight. Typically, end loaded bats are preferred mostly by power hitters.

Answer Question

Both the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR (BB14X1) and the 2014 Axe Avenge BBCOR (L140A) would be nice options. The preference between the two would be which style you like more. The Axe is more balanced and the XL1 is end-loaded. Also, the Axe handle is an adjustment so if you have a preference for that it would help to make the decision.

Patrick Expert ·Apr 27, 2014

88906

Which is more endloaded, the 2013 XL2 or the 2014 XL1?

The alloy barrel of the Easton XL2 does give the bat a slightly more end loaded feel than the composite barrel of the XL1. The composite in the barrel of the XL1 seems to cut a bit more weight out of the bat, giving it only a slightly end loaded swing weight.

Mac Expert ·Apr 26, 2014

My son is a 5'8" tall, 150 pound 15 year old that currently plays in a Pony league. We are looking to purchase a new bat and want to know which size would be best for him to user for the next two or three years?

We would suggest using a 32" bat for someone the size of your son, although you could go up or down 1" depending on other factors such as if he likes to choke up on the bat, how far he stands from the plate, how strong he is, etc. Some of our best selling BBCOR bats right now are the Rawlings VELO (BBVELO), the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDC), and the Louisville Slugger EXOGRID 3 (BB13EX).

A few of my son's friends continue to use this bat in games. We paid $400 for this and wonder if by others using this bat it affects it performance? I don't like it since we paid for it and they get to use for nothing. I just do not want this bat and my son to suffer from others using it. Please let me know what the result may be from others using this bat in every game. Thanks, a Baseball Mom.

Using the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR (BB14X1) for team use should only help the composite materials break-in. The more the bat is broken in the better the performance will be for your son and his teammates. Rest assured ma'am, and tell those boys to keep up the good work!

If your looking more for power I would recommend the 2014 Easton XL1 (BB14X1). The reason why is that it has an end-loaded feel compared to the Easton Mako (BB14MK) which would be balanced.

My son has the older model of the XL1 BBCOR: BB11X1. Are there any changes or technology advances with the BB14X1, or is it still same bat?

This 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR (BB14X1) Adult bat and the BB11X1 both feature extended barrels made from the IMX Composite material, but the composite in the handle has been improved between models. The SIC Black Carbon Composite material in the BB14X1 provides a stiffer flex that transfers energy more efficiently to the ball on contact.

What bat compares to the feel of the XL1?

Given the two-piece, fully composite design of the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR (BB14X1) and it's end-loaded feel, it is somewhat unique within the BBCOR certified bat category. A few hybrid designs would feel similar as far as swing weight goes but will have a different material makeup. The 2014 Rawlings TRIO End-Load BBCOR (BBTRI3) Adult and the 2014 DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR (DXVDC) Adult will both feature a similar end-loaded feel.

I am 5 foot 8 and weigh 145 pounds. What bat would be better, the XL1 or the S1?

The answer to that would depend on your preference. If you prefer a more end-loaded feel for a bat, the 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR (BB14X1) would be the better option. If you like a more balanced feel, the 2014 Easton S1 BBCOR (BB14S1) would be the bat to go with. Generally, the end-loaded feel is preferred by power hitters.

I have the 2013 S1 (BB13S1) and have noticed that I have a very fast bat speed. Would this be a bretter upgrade with more pop?

The XL1 (BB14X1) will have a little more pop since it is an end loaded design. Another option would be the Easton Mako (BB14MK). The Mako is a blend between the Easton "S" series and the Easton "XL" series. Both options will give you a little more pop for what you are looking for.

Which one do you think is better, 2014 Easton xl1 BBCOR or 2014 Voodoo overlord? I'm a power hitter, and I like to drive the ball.

Unfortunately, one is not proven to be better than the other. The XL1 and Overlord both have slightly end loaded swing weights with a two-piece design. The XL1 may provide a slightly longer useful life with the composite barrel, but both are great options for a power hitter.

I am 13 years old. I am about 5 foot 3 and 105 pounds. I currently swing a -5 Easton XL3. I still pull alot of balls. Do you think this would be a good bat for me in the future?

The 2014 Easton XL1 BBCOR (BB14X1) is a great option for a BBCOR bat. Given your age, it seems like you will be making that transition soon. It is good that you have adjusted to a drop 5 size first. The XL1 will be different than your XL3. The XL1 is a two piece fully composite design which will offer a bit more flex than your XL3. Also, the composite barrel will have a different sound and feel than the alloy barrel XL1.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to correctly estimate the life of any bat.
