Hello my son plays on his middle school baseball team and we are wondering if he would be able to use this bat?

Each league is different in terms of which barrel diameters they allow. The 2014 Easton XL3 (SL14X35) is considered a Big Barrel bat and features a USSSA 1.15 BPF sticker. If you are unsure of which bats are legal, the best course of option is to consult your team coach or league commissioner.

My son is playing at SCABA and they say you have to have USSSA stamp. My son wants to know if you can use it still if it has BBCOR stamp on it?

The 2014 Easton XL3 (SL14X35) features the new USSSA stamp so it will be legal for play in SCABA. Typically, if a bat is BBCOR certified, it will not be USSSA certified as well so it would not be legal for play if the league requires the USSSA stamp.

I am looking at this bat for my son for Pony League - Pony division but it must be BBCOR certified. Does this one qualify?

No, the 2014 Easton XL3 (SL14X35) is not BBCOR certified. BBCOR will only be available in a -3 drop. You will need to look at the 2014 Easton XL3 BBCOR ( BB14X3) model.

I'm trying to buy my son a bat for Babe Ruth and I think the rules state if composite barrel has to be BBCOR certified. I am looking at the Easton (-5) but can't tell if it can be used?

The 2014 Easton XL3: SL14X35 Senior League has an alloy barrel and can be used in Babe Ruth.

Will this bat have better pop, regardless of the end load or balance, than the Marucci Team?

The 2014 Easton XL3: SL14X35 Senior League has more power because of the added weight to end of the barrel. The end loaded swing weight is what helps generate the extra power compared to a balanced bat.

Would you recommend this bat for a 5'7'', 120 lbs, 13 year old who has slow hands but makes significant power when contact is made? He will be attending high school next year so would it be ideal for a -5 so he can prepare for the -3 in high school?

Moving to a -5 would be a good idea because it will help him prepare for the -3 requirement in high school. The 2014 Easton XL3: SL14X35 Senior League is end loaded and may not be the best choice since he does have a slower swing speed. A balanced bat may be a better choice for him.

What about the XL3 for a contact hitter with acceptable good power?

The 2014 Easton XL3: SL14X35 Senior League will be a great option for a player who already has great bat speed and wants to increase their power.

What are the outside temperature restrictions for using this bat?

We do not recommend using any non-wood bat, including the 2014 Easton XL3: SL14X35 Senior League, in temperatures below 55°F (13°C). In those temperatures, the ball becomes much more dense and could damage or shorten the useful life of your bat. Composite can crack, and alloy can dent, so neither material is proven to be better in cold weather, unfortunately.

Which is a better all around bat? The RIP-IT -5 or the -5 2014 XL3?

Both models are very different. The 2014 Easton XL3: SL14X35 Senior League has an end loaded swing weight and is better suited for power hitters. The 2014 RIP-IT Senior AIR: B1405 Senior League is one of the more balanced models on the market and is best suited for contact hitters.
