Questions and Answers for 2014 Marucci Elite Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBE145
Does this bat have a faster swing speed than the Marucci Black? Also, what has more pop?
The 2014 Marucci Elite: (MSBE145) and Marucci Black 2: (MSBB28) will both have a similar weight distribution, and therefore, both of these models will have similar swing speeds. Both models will also use the same AZ3000 Alloy in the barrel. Essentially, the biggest difference will be that the Marucci Black 2: (MSBB28) will have an extended barrel to help enhance the sweet spot. However, both models will use the same materials, and will have a balanced weight distribution.
I'm 5' 7" and weigh 110 lbs. What size would you recommend?
The 2014 Marucci Elite (MSBE145 Senior League) would be best recommended in the 31"length. Your age would help identify the best weight.
What would recommend for a 13 year old contact hitter with some power, the Marucci Elite or the Combat Portent? Which one would generate better bat speed? Thanks.
We recommend a two-piece bat for a contact hitter. The 2014 Marucci Elite (MSBE145) would be a great option. The composite material at the end of the barrel provides a very balanced swing weight.
Is the Marucci Elite approved for use by Babe Ruth Baseball League (ages 13 to 15 years).
The 2014 Marucci Elite (MSBE145 S) is legal in Babe Ruth Baseball League ages 13-15 years old.
What size bat would you recommend for a 5' 3" 110 pound contact hitter?
Based on the players height and weight, we recommend a 31" model in the 2014 Marucci Elite (MSBE145) Senior League.
Would this bat be allowed for a middle school team? I don't know what league it is, but do you think that it would need to be BBCOR?
Unfortunately, there are middle school leagues that allow the use of -5 models like the 2014 Marucci Elite (MSBE145) Senior League bat while others will require the BBCOR certified -3 models. It's tough to say which you may need, but a coach or league director should be able to give you the final word.
Do u sell a bat pack with BBCOR and Senior League bats. I need one for school ball and one for USSSA ball.
The Bat Pack Marucci Team preBCOR and Marucci Team BBCOR: MSBT5 and MCBT Red Senior League/Adult will feature both of the bat types you are looking for.
Is this bat legal for little league intermediate 50/70 division?
Little League Intermediate division 50/70 only allows composite barrels if they are BBCOR certified (-3 drop). The 2014 Marucci Elite (MSBE145 Senior League) has a composite barrel and is not BBCOR certified, so it would not be legal.
I am going to purchase either the 2014 Marucci Elite or the 2014 Marucci Black in a 30" 25 oz. for my son. Which bat has the bigger sweet spot?
The 2014 Marucci Elite: MSBE145 Senior League and the 2014 Marucci Black: MSBB145 Senior League are very high performing bats. The Marucci Black has a slightly longer barrel for an extended sweet spot. The Marucci Elite will be slightly more balanced.
Which bat is better: the Marucci ONE or Marucci Elite?
The 2014 Marucci Elite: MSBE145 Senior League is a two-piece hybrid design with an alloy barrel and composite handle. The composite handle will provide flex, creating a whip effect for added bat speed through the zone. Marucci also adds composite to the last few inches of the barrel to take "dead weight" out of the barrel, resulting in a very well balanced design. The ONE is a one-piece alloy, which will have a stiff feel.
Can you use this in high school?
No, the 2014 Marucci Elite: MSBE145 Senior League is not legal for use in high school. All high school bats must be BBCOR certified. The 2014 Marucci Elite BBCOR: MCBE14 Adult is the BBCOR version of this bat and would be legal for high school play.
How would you compare this bat to the Combat Portent in performance and swing speeds?
Both the 2014 Marucci Elite: MSBE145 Senior League and the 2014 COMBAT Portent: PORSL110 Senior League are top of the line bats. Both will have comparable swing speeds and performance. The main difference is the Elite will have some aluminum in the barrel, and the Portent is fully composite.
My son loved his -8 Marucci Black, but now needs a -5 and is torn between the new 2014 Elite and Black. What are the differences between the two?
The 2014 Marucci Elite: MSBE145 Senior League and Marucci Black models both have a two-piece seamless hybrid design (composite handle fused into an alloy barrel), but that is the one similarity. The Elite is Marucci's most balanced bat because the last few inches of the alloy barrel has been removed and replaced with composite. This takes the "dead weight" out of the bat and helps players achieve higher swing speeds. The Marucci Black has an extended barrel length for an increased sweet spot, but it has a slightly end loaded swing weight because of it.
Can you use this bat in cold weather?
We do not recommend using any non-wood bat, including the 2014 Marucci Elite: MSBE145 Senior League, in temperatures below 60°F (16°C). In those temperatures, the ball becomes much more dense and could damage or shorten the useful life of your bat. Composite can crack, and alloy can dent, so neither material is proven to be better in cold weather, unfortunately.
What's the biggest difference between the 2013 and 2014 Elite?
The 2014 Marucci Elite will feature mostly the products and construction as the 2013 model. The 2014 Marucci Elite will feature Marucci's updated logo and graphics.
