Worst vibrating bat I have ever hit. Blair Foster parent

Pros: This solid piece of aluminum is very durable

Cons: The vibration is so bad even on slightly miss hit balls that my son was unable to hold the bat again for approximately one half of an hour. I tried it myself as his father and had the same result , very painful.

Good pop Mike R parent

Pros: Makes the ball travel farther. My 11 y.o. son is a big kid, 5'6" 150 lbs and we do our BP with a heavy wooden bat and then switch out to the XL3, XL3 adds easily 30-50+ more feet of distance, which in a little league field is easily out the park.

Cons: not any - only if you consider feedback a con, like hitting the ball at the very end of the barrel will sting but thats about it.

This bat is great Trevor Dima player

Pros: This bat has a truck load of pop and isn't expensive at all. The aluminum barrel is light, for faster swing speed. Great bat overall. Equal to the Mako. Also has a great grip.

great bat Tony F parent

Pros: My son's Demarini Voodoo Overlord FT was a great preforming bat, but lost pop quickly. It lost pop the week of my son's state tournament. My son was the biggest hitter on his team. we needed a bat ASAP and I didn't want to deal with breaking in a composite with only a day or two to do so. I selected this bat as it was slightly heavier than the Demarini. This more of an end loaded bat than Demarini. This bat has a significantly large sweet spot compared to the Demarini. This bat is a one piece aluminum, so I was concerned there would be more sting than the Demarini since the Demarini is a two piece hybrid, but my son surprisingly complained of less sting. My son did notice is a slighlty heavier bat, however he did say it has a smoother swing through. I noticed his bombs went about the same distance as the Demarini when it was still hot, but the biggest difference i noticed was in his line drives, which were all shots. Demarini is great bat, but this Easton is better and not as expensive

Awesome bat, great value Tony parent

Pros: Excellent bat. End loaded but smooth swing through. Lots of pop. I noticed on the big bombs the ball traveled slightly further than the last bat, however the line drives were more frequent and were all shots. This bat is on par with other bats in higher price range, great for power hitters.

Cons: It is a one piece aluminum so there is some sting. For a single piece aluminum it's pretty tame but compared to a two piece bat, you'll definitely feel the difference. Tee work and soft toss, you won't feel a thing, but on the miss hits off the machine or kid pitch will let you know. Thankfully, this bat has a huge sweet spot, on par with other Eastons, allowing more room for error.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: YB15X3? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is the barrel composite? Bob
No, the barrel is alloy on the **PRE-BOOK** 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3).
Brandon
How is the Hyperlite Alloy different from the THT100 Scandium Alloy in the previous Easton models? Will this feel the same as previous models or will this impact the balance of the bat? What about the pop? CT
The Hyperlite Alloy in the 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat: (YB15X3) was re-designed to improve durability and pop and from the previous THT100 Scandium Alloy used. This material is not going to change the balance of the bat. It will have a similar feel, but will give players a little bit of extra power, added durability, and a longer life span.
Merritt
Is this more of a balanced bat or end loaded bat? Batboy
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) will have an end loaded swing weight.
John H
What size is the barrel? rice
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) will feature a 2 1/4" barrel.
Tessa
I have an Omen XL and might be interested in buying the MAKO. What are the differences? Omenbra
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) will be an end loaded, fully alloy model. The MAKO will be a two-piece fully composite design. It will have an extended barrel and allow for very quick bat speeds. The MAKO will be more balanced compared to the XL3 and Omen XL.
Brandon
I am looking for a -13 bat with lots of durability. Would this be a good choice? jdogg
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) features a -11 drop weight, which is 2 ounces heavier than a -13 model you are looking for. I would recommend checking out the 2015 Easton S3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15S3), which features a similar one-piece alloy design as the XL3. The main difference is that the S3 features a balanced swing weight, whereas the XL3 features an end loaded design. Both bats feature the Hyperlite Matrix Alloy material, which is Easton's top of the line alloy, so they should have great durability. If not, they are backed by a 12 month manufacturer warranty through Easton.
Tessa
Hello, is this the same bat as the XL3 from a couple of years ago that was yellow? Also, my average size 9 year old son, has the 28" model of the older XL3 bat. He is ready for a bigger one. Does it make sense to get the 29"? Or possibly just go straight to the 30"? Thank you. mb
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) will swing very much the same as the prior year models. The 2015 XL3 will have updated bat materials compared to the 2011 or 2012 models. The performance and durability should be slightly better. I see many 9 year old players using 29" and 30" currently. Either one should swing fine for him.
Brandon
What is the difference between an end loaded bat an a balanced bat? jer
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) is an end loaded bat. An end loaded bat is going to have more weight in the barrel of the bat, while a balanced bat is going to have the weight equally distributed throughout the bat.
Frankie
Is this a big barrel bat? I want to use this for little league and they don't allow big barrel bats? metsnation
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie, Pony, AABC, and features the USSSA 1.15 BPF Stamp.
Jake
What is the closest bat to the XL1 for youth that isn't the 2015 Mako? Natfan28
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) would be similar to the XL1 youth, however, it features a one-piece alloy design. Another model would be the 2015 Louisville Slugger Select 715 Youth Baseball Bat (YBS7152).
Tessa
What size is the barrel does the XL1 have? Does it come in different colors? Jake
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) has a 2 1/4" barrel diameter and only comes in the one color.
Jake
Does this bat have more pop than last years model? Also, it says it has "hyperlite matrix alloy" does that mean it'll be a little bit lighter swinging than last year's model? Tanner
As far as "pop" is concerned, you should notice that the 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) will be held to the same USSSA (1.15 BPF) restrictions as the Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB13X3). Concerning the alloy, the "Hyperlite Matrix Alloy" will allow the 2015 XL3 to feel a bit lighter than the previous model.
Ben
How does this bat compare to the 2015 Demarini Youth Insane? Differences? Swing weight? My son starts coach pitch this spring, I'm looking for a 29" weapon that encourages a good, balanced swing. JR
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) is a one-piece full alloy bat featuring Easton's Hyperlite Matrix Alloy as well as an end-load. Typically, we recommend one-piece end-loaded models for power hitters. If you wanted to encourage a balanced swing, you would probably want to take a look at two-piece well-balanced models. The 2015 DeMarini Insane Youth Baseball Bat (DXINL) will be more suited towards a contact or gap hitter. It is a full one-piece alloy bat featuring DeMarini's SC4 alloy as well as a balanced swing weight.
Joe
Can you explain the extended barrel of the XL3? I assume the end of the bat to the taper is longer than most bats. Are there other bats that also have the extended barrel design? jefe
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) does indeed feature an extended barrel. This does reference the length of the barrel from the end cap to the start of the taper. In terms of performance, this does give the bat a slight end-loaded swing weight. Another model that features the extended barrel design would be the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Joe
Is the 2015 XL3 have a similar feel to last year's model? Is it a single wall or double wall barrel? My son is 5'3", 125 lbs & plays on 12U team. What size bat would you reccommend? cman
We would recommend a 32" model for his height and weight. The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) will have a similar feel as the 2014 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB14X3). Both will be single wall barrels and both have an end loaded feel. The 2015 XL3 has an upgraded Hyperlite alloy for increased power and durability.
Damon
Why would you personally prefer this over last year's model? Will it be easy to break in? RBI KING
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) uses the new Hyperlite Matrix Alloy. The Hyperlite Matrix alloy provides an increase in power with improved durability. The Easton XL3 will be game ready right out of the wrapper since it is a one-piece all alloy design.
John
Would you recommend this over the Mako? RBI KING
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) features a one piece alloy design with an end-loaded swing weight. We would recommend this model for a power hitter. The 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) features a two-piece full composite design with a balanced swing weight, that we would typically recommend for contact and gap hitters.
Joe
Is a warranty available if the bat runs out of pop? Juan
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) is backed by a 12 month manufacturer warranty with Easton. So if it were to become damaged, defective, or lose its "pop", you can return it to them for your warranty replacement. They have the ability to test your bat to see if it has become "dead" or defective.
Tessa
My son is an average size 10 year old what size would be good for him? spring
That age of player can vary greatly in size. If you could provide a more specific height and weight for the player, we would be more able to tell you the specific size of the 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) that should work for you.
Patrick
My son is 5 foot 3 inches and 100 pounds, what size bat would you recommend? ronm
We would suggest getting the 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) in a 32 inch based on your sons height and weight.
Frankie
Would this be a good bat for me? I am a 4 to 7 spot hitter. Or would the MAKO be better? BigEasy
The MAKO and the 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) are both very high performing bats with great durability. The major difference between the two is that the MAKO will be more balanced. The XL3 will have more of a barrel heavy end loaded feel. They both would work for a hitter like yourself.
Brandon
My son is 4 foot 3 inches and weights 58 pounds, he's 8 years old, what size would you recommend for him? el guapo
I would recommend getting the 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) in a 28 inch.
Frankie
Would you recommend the XL3 or the 2015 RIP-IT AIR Youth Baseball Bat: B1512? Greg
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) features a one piece full alloy design with an end loaded swing weight that is primarily intended for power hitters. The 2015 RIP-IT AIR Youth Baseball Bat (B1512) features a one piece full alloy design with a balanced swing weight. The RIP-IT carries a 30 day trial period, so I would try the RIP-IT and then exchange it for the XL3.
Joe
Do you have to break in this bat, or is it as hot as it gets right out of the wrapper? baseball guy
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) is an aluminum bat, so it would not require any break-in.
Chinyere
Can this bat be used for girls slow pitch softball (10 yrs old)? TEQ
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) cannot be used for softball. It does not have the correct certification stamps on it to be legal for play. The YB15X3 can only be used for baseball.
Jason
Is this a big barrel bat? tb
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) has a 2 1/4" barrel, so it is not considered to be a Big Barrel bat.
Marcus
Is this bat Little League approved? coach
Yes, the 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) will have a 2 1/4" barrel diameter, -9 to -12 length-to-weight ratio and the USSSA certification (1.15 BPF) that will make it legal for play in Little League. In addition, the barrel will read "Approved for play in Little League".
Ben
Is this a composite bat? alshon
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) will feature a one piece full alloy design with an end loaded swing weight.
Joe
Is the barrel of the 2015 Easton XL3, the same length of the 2015 Easton Mako? phil
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) will have the same extended barrel as the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK).
Allison
My son is 5 foot 1 inches and weights 110 pounds. He is 11 years old. What size would you recommend for him? Jason
Based on height and weight, we would suggest the 31 inch size of the 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3).
Patrick
My son is 12 years old. He is 63 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. I am looking at the Easton XL3 versus the Demarini Vexxum. Also, what size do you recommend? Bill
Based on height and weight, I would suggest a 31 inch bat. Both the 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) and the 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS Youth Baseball Bat (DXVXL) would be nice options. The preference would come down to which style you like. The XL3 is a single-piece, slightly end-loaded alloy bat while the Vexxum is a balanced, two-piece hybrid design. It has an alloy barrel and composite handle.
Patrick
I have an XL1 and I feel as though it dampens the hit so would this go farther than the XL1? I am a power hitter and I need a bat that fits me. composo
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) would be a good fit for a power hitter but I cannot say that it would go farther than the XL1. In general, at their best, most bats will perform to around the same level if you put the same quality swing on similar pitches. The difference would be in the feel and the durability of the bats. This XL3 will be stiffer than the XL1 but the performance may last a bit longer on the XL1 since it is composite.
Patrick
My son is 12 years old, 58 inches tall and weighs 88 pounds. What size bat would you recommend for him? GMICCO3
Based on your sons height and weight I would suggest getting the 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) in a 30 inch.
Frankie
My son is 12 years old and really likes this bat. He is approximately 58 inches tall and weighs about 88 pounds. Which bat would you recommend for him? GMICCO3
Based on height and weight, we would suggest a 30 inch size of the 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3).
Patrick
My son is 10 years old, 4 foot 11 inches tall and weighs 100 pounds. He's both a contact and power hitter. We're debating between the YB15MK or YB15X3. Which bat would you recommend and what size? Danny
For his size we would recommend a 30" bat. The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) and the 2015 Easton MAKO Youth Baseball Bat (YB15MK) are both great options. The XL3 is an end loaded one piece alloy, while the MAKO is a balanced two piece composite, and they each offer an extended barrel. For a contact and power hitter I would recommend the MAKO because although it is balanced, for a contact hitter, it also features an extended barrel, for a power hitter, so the MAKO is kind of the best of both the speed series and the XL series by Easton.
Allison
I am ten years old, 4'9" tall and weigh 72 pounds. What size do I need? Wert

How would this bat compare to the Louisville Slugger TPX Attack Youth Baseball Bat: YB13A? The Slugger seems to not have the pop it advertised. Josh
The 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) and the Louisville Slugger TPX Attack Youth Baseball Bat (YB13A) are tough to compare because they are completely opposite in terms of design. The Attack is a balanced, two-piece, fully composite design. The XL3 is an end-loaded, single-piece, alloy model. At their best, their performance would probably compare well. The XL3 may provide a bit more power if the player is comfortable with and can swing an end-loaded feel well.
Patrick

I have a player who recently turned 9 years old and is 4'6" and 77 lbs. He has very quick hands and plays both travel ball and little league. I am looking at both the XL1 and XL3 (2 1/4") for him and need to determine size and weight. He is currently using a combat B2BY1 (29/19) that I think has lost its pop. peter pan
I would suggest a 30" 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) or XL1 for your player.

It is tough to say how long any bat, including the 2015 Easton XL3 Youth Baseball Bat (YB15X3) will last. The XL3 features an alloy barrel, so the best hits will be right out of the wrapper.
