Awesome alloy bat! YankeesXV parent

Pros: Great balance, solid bat. Pop you'd expect from an alloy barrel -- maybe not as hot as a full composite but pretty good pop. Easy to swing for my 10U son, just a great bat.

Cons: Rubber ring around the middle is a little cheesy -- something molded into the bat would've been cooler :)

Good Bat BZ parent

Pros: Has plenty of pop, looks nice, feels nice 30-day try it out...

Cons: the 2 5/8 is small. Barrel tapers off pretty fast so smaller sweet spot. Lot more sting due to smaller barrel. Probably gonna send it back & get the 2 3/4.

SLO5150 2/58 in barrel alloy Dad/Coach parent

Pros: Great tweener bat for a kid moving up from Little league Composite approved to big barrel. My son had an XL1 composite but is playing in a higher league that doesn't allow composite. The -10 drop allows the same bat speed but with a bigger surface area to make contact. My son's reaction was that for an alloy bat it has pop that feels like composite only with a slight ping. Loves the handle and the fact that he doesn't have to worry about using this alloy bat on heavy balls like you do with composites

Cons: It's a tweener bat meaning it will serve its purpose for the transition from little league to the big field only for a season and then he'll have to go BBCOR

End cap broke after 10 games Sam Lehrich player

Pros: This bat was great for the better half of the season. Great pop, and felt great through the zone.

Cons: The end can broke off and the vibrations were awful and I stopped hitting with it.

Great value bat Crash Davis parent

Pros: This bat was for my 9 year old, who loved the balanced swing weight of the bat. Unlike some end weighted or composite bats, this bat had great balance and my son was able to consistently square the ball up. The lighter swing weight helped him to further develop his bat speed, without sacrificing the mechanics we work on to be smooth theoughout the swing. The bat is very durable, lived an wntire year of a 9u travel team, with only minor battle scars. The pop on the bat is true LS quality, hit it square and the ball travels. For the price ad as a transitional bat, you cannot go wrong.

Cons: The only drawback or gripe I heard was around the tappered handle of the bat. The width/girth of the handle increases slightly towards the knob. This took some getting used to, as it is not common on a lot of yourh bats. However, it was a nice "marker" for choking up.

Whole team took notice... Michael McElroy coach

Pros: I bought this bat for my 8 year old son. One kid borrowed it at BP and said "Wow" this bat is awesome. Next thing you know the whole team demanded to use the bat. They all agreed that it felt really good, and the extra pop off the ball was obvious. SO I bought another bat just now for the team. This bat is an extraordinary value for the money.

Cons: It only comes in red.

2015 Louisville Slugger SLO5150 Millerde01 coach

Pros: Bought the 30/20 with the 2 5/8 barrel for my 10 year old. This is his first big barrel bat. He loves the feel and the pop. My 11 year old tried it out and I've now ordered the 31/21. The bat feels good with good balance. Neither son has complained about vibration or stinging. Definitely a good price and value at justbats.com.

Cons: I have not had good luck with Louisville Slugger bats. Seems like it can be hit or miss. Hopefully these bats keep their pop for a couple of seasons.

Great bat! Shawn parent

Pros: My 9 year old son used the bat for the year. We tried many bats and decided on this bat for the balance. He didn't like the composite bats that were too end weighted for him. Bat in great shape after the season through practice and 40 games.

Cons: There is quite a bit of vibration when not hitting the ball on the barrel.

My son is 11, about to be 12 in September. Playing on a competitive team. He is 5'1". What type of bat should he be swinging? Jbird
All bat recommendations are going to be based on a player's height and weight. We would recommend inputting this into our bat coach at: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/. This will give you a good idea on bat length and weight. Always a good idea to consult with a current coach who knows the player's swing as the bat coach is not able to take into consideration the player's current bat speed and swing path.
Cameron

The Louisville Slugger Omaha 515 Senior League Baseball Bat (SLO5150) does feature the USSSA 1.15 BPF thumbprint sticker.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
