Description

New! The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Bat! Ever since Rawlings released one of the first BBCOR bats on the market, they've been working hard to perfect the science behind creating the best BBCOR bat possible. The Rawlings VELO combines technology, balance, and low M.O.I. to help you generate ULTIMATE swing VELOcity! This begins with the VELO's Comp-Lite End Cap that is fused to the alloy barrel using Bi/fusion Technology. This composite end cap creates a lighter and more balanced feel at the end of the bat to increase swing speeds and lower M.O.I. It has been shown through testing that a 50-100 M.O.I. change can result in a noticeable increase in bat speed. The Rawlings VELO BBCOR is AT LEAST 200 M.O.I. BETTER than any competitor in a similar price range! Beyond just increasing swing speeds, the Rawlings VELO is a well-built piece of equipment. It features a one-piece design crafted from Rawlings' VELO Alloy that has unmatched durability and trampoline effect. As a result of precision manufacturing VELO Alloy bats are consistently hotter than other leading alloy bats and perform at the maximum level allowable by today's standards. Precision Optimized Performance (pOp) Technology is applied to the VELO to isolate extra weight into smaller regions on the barrel to further increase bat speed and eliminate the need for annoying rings found inside some BBCOR bats. Rawlings: The Mark of a Pro! The VELO is BBCOR Certified and approved for high school and collegiate play. Free Shipping!

Awesome bat. Abe player

Pros: Got my 2015 Velo yesterday, and went to the cages today. So far, I absolutely love this bat. You will definitely know when you hit it on the sweet spot. PING!!!! I ordered the balanced 33 inch Velo. It's a yes from me!!!

Cons: It's really loud when hitting dingers :-)

Coach Smith Scott Smith coach

Pros: The bat is well balanced with a lot of pop! My son started using VELO 2 years ago and every season, the VELO quickly becomes the "team" bat replacing all others. The expanded sweet spot is ideal for all hitters including those hitting for average as well as power. It's the perfect combination of balance, durability and pop!

Cons: None as of yet, swinging VELO for 2 years now.

Pros: This bat is great for power and contact hitters. You have to see it in action for yourself. Great balance and swing speed. Faster than the Mako Torq. Great sound. Flat out nasty. The bat of choice for my sons high school team. I think a lot of Easton bats will start collecting dust, sitting in bags and the trunk. The pop is an A++

Loud, Awesome Bat Goonsquad player

Pros: Probably the most balanced bat I've ever felt. Has a loud ping that can be heard by everyone, and feels great in the hands. Definitely the best one piece bat on the market right now.

Cons: More vibration than two piece bats, but that doesn't bother me.

D1 Johnny Baseball player

Pros: Unreal. So balanced that if you hit off the tee right away, you'll hit under the ball because you're so used to the other bat that you've been using. You get used to it and its not a problem after the 2nd swing, and after that you're disgracing pitchers families dropping dingers. You get your hands around so fast. I've used the new Easton S3z, Voodoo, Mako, and Omaha. This bat never goes dead, unlike the Voodoo. The only thing that comes close to the velo is the 5150.

Cons: Why is there even a Cons option for the review on this bat..?

Rawlings Velo Anthony player

Pros: - Tons of pop - The handle feels great - No vibration - Easy to swing This bat is absolutely everything you could ask for in a bat. It has tons and tons of pop and that awesome PING noise is still there so you definitely know when you've hit something solid. It's perfect for all hitters, contact, power, line drive guys, etc. It will work for anyone. Really a review doesn't do this bat justice you've got to get one for yourself! I love it!

Cons: None at all besides on vibration which is because when you hit it off the end or on the hands it hurts. But of course that is only because it's a one piece bat. So, that will happen with any one piece bat you get.

Pros: I usually don't hype up bats but this one is worth all the hype. I'd even be willing to say this is Rawlings best bat yet. It has a ton of pop, a very comfortable grip, and most importantly is extremely balanced. This bat is for any kind of player, one looking to speed up his hands, line drive hitter, power hitter, contact hitter, doesn't matter. I've used it in the cages and I love it. Must have for 2015.

Cons: none.

This Bat is Amazing Matt player

Pros: Looks amazing out of the box and just in general. I am a 15 year old 5 ft. 10 160 lbs that usually is able to hit the ball about 280-300 feet. In my 4th at bat with the bat i hit a 305 foot shot to the fence on my high school field. The ball doesn't even feel like it is hitting anything when it touches the bat. It pings right off and hits the ball harder than any other bat that I have used. It has no vibration when you get jammed or when you hit it off the end. I am looking forward to using this bat more and more. It is definitely worth the buy.

Cons: None really. Kind of loud and everyone wants to use it.

Pros: This bat definitely has the best pop out of any bbcor bat you will find. It is extremely balanced, and will work for any hitter. Awesome bat!

First Velo. Very Impressed Kirk J. parent

Pros: Great pop. Very well weighted for a fast solid swing. This was my son's first Velo (he swung another player's on his high school team). He decided that was what he wanted when it was time for a new bat. He has been swinging mostly Demarinis up until this point, but my son loves this bat and will probably stay with the Velo.

Great Swing Weight Sooner Dad parent

Pros: Swing Weight of the VELO BBCOR is noticeably less than the CF-6 it's replacing. So much so, that he was able to move up an inch in length without losing bat speed. Ground shipping was amazingly fast. Price was the lowest anywhere. I couldn't be happier about the experience.

Not worth the extra $$ for alloy BBall CLE player

Pros: Grip, Sound, workmanship

Cons: Not the best alloy BBCOR out there. Omaha 515 and 516 are better and closer to spec'd weight. My bat was 2 oz over. Not sure why a premium over other alloys including the 5150. Don't buy into the fast swing mantra, Omaha's, Easton alloys and Maruccis swing lighter or just as light.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

There are 2 versions of the new 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR bat. One is an end-loaded model and one is a balanced model. Which version is this bat? JW
The 2015 Rawlings Velo BBCOR (BBRVB) is the balanced model.
Bobby
What is the difference between this and the 2015 Trio? Josh
The 5150 Rawlings Velo (BBRVB) will be a a one piece alloy bat that features a comp-lite end cap. The Rawlings Trio is actually a three piece bat with a composite handle, alloy barrel, and composite end cap.
Kelby
What is the difference between the balanced model and the end loaded model? Are the swing weights different ? John
The end-loaded model of the 2015 Rawlings Velo BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) will have a heavier feel to it because the weight of the bat will be more focused to the barrel rather than being evenly distributed.
Patrick
What is the difference between the balanced model of the 2015 Velo BBCOR (BBRVB) and the 2015 Marucci Cat 6? Jeff
The 2015 Rawlings Velo BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) are very comparable bats. They are both one-piece alloy designs with balanced swing weights. The Velo features a Comp-Lite end cap, which gives the bat a more balanced swing weight. The Cat 6 features an anti-vibration knob that eliminates sting.
Jason
Whats the difference between this model and the 2014 model? b.ball
The 2015 Rawlings Velo BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) used the same 5150 alloy as the 2014 model but they did find a way to make the 2015 Velo slightly more balanced. The 2015 model has an increased sweet spot which gives the player more confidence.
Cooper
Is this bat as balanced as the Rip-It Air Elite? gilley16
The 2015 Rawlings Velo BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) will be similarly balanced to the 2015 RIP-IT AIR Elite BBCOR Baseball Bat (B1503E).
Patrick
What is the difference between the 2015 Velo and the 2015 5150? Brendan
The 2015 Rawlings Velo BBCOR (BBRVB) is going to be more balanced than the 2015 Rawlings 5150. Rawlings put more of the weight in the handle of the bat to create a lighter swing weight compared to the 5150.
John
How does this pop compare to other hybrid bats? J
The 2015 Rawlings Velo BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) would not be considered a hybrid design but would have similar "pop" or performance to all other BBCOR certified models due to safety restrictions on the maximum batted ball speeds BBCOR bats can achieve.
Patrick
Will this be a good bat for power hitters? How is the pop? 1000Homers
The 2015 Rawlings Velo BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) will be a great choice for power hitters. The one-piece 5150 alloy design will have high performance and great pop. Also, no break-in is required.
Brandon
What is the best bat for a contact hitter with flashes of power: this bat or the 2015 Easton S1? alex
The 2015 Rawlings Velo BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) may be the better bat of the two for a player who can hit for contact with flashes of power. The VELO features a balanced design, which is the same as the Easton S1. The main difference is that the 5150 is a one-piece bat, which is generally preferred by power hitters. A power hitter will tend to prefer a one-piece bat because the one-piece design isn't as forgiving as a two-piece. Two-piece bats with a lot of flex can be a bad thing for a power hitter because it can cause loss of bat head control and a late whipping action. Since the S1 features a two-piece design, the VELO may be the better option for your hitting style.
Tessa
Will the Easton S1 or the Rawlings Velo be a better choice for a contact hitter that sometimes hits with power? samb123
As a contact hitter that is able to generate power, I would highly suggest the 2014 Easton S1 BBCOR Baseball Bat: (BB14S1). This model is designed with a two-piece structure, and will provide a lot of great flex through the zone for contact hitters. It is also designed to help players increase bat speed, and will also be able to provide a lot of great power.
Merritt
What is the better bat for a contact hitter that sometimes hits for power; this bat or the DeMarini CF6? elite
The 2015 Rawlings Velo BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the 2014 DeMarini CF6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCFC) would both be good options for that style of play. The preference would come down to whether you want an alloy barrel one-piece design or a composite barrel two-piece design. Both are great options.
Patrick
Is there a performance difference between the 2014 and 2015 Rawlings VELO? hdbsn
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the 2014 bats do have a performance difference. The 2015 VELO BBCOR has an increased sweetspot with pOp 2.0 technology, which gives the player more confidence at the plate.
Jason
Which bat will feel lighter? The Rawlings VELO BBCOR, Mizuno Generation BBCOR, or the Easton S3Z ZCORE BBCOR? slugger
The 2015 Rawlings Velo BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is a very light and balanced bat. All three of these bats will feel light and balanced, but the S3Z and Generation do not have any reviews as of yet. As soon as we get some, we should be able to better answer your question.
Brandon
What is the difference between the regular VELO and the end loaded VELO? nick
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) will be very balanced and not end loaded. I do not have any information on any end loaded VELO models.
Brandon
I am a line drive hitter, and I like to keep the ball pretty close to the ground. I was told to get this bat by some of the seniors on my baseball team, but I also ran across the DeMarini CF6 and CF7. The swing weights, from what I can tell, are very similar. I just want to know which bat, out of those 3, have the most pop and control? Chattanooga Central Pounder's Baseball
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is a great option to go with. When comparing this bat to the DeMarini CF6 and CF7, they are pretty well balanced BBCOR model bats so they will have similar feeling swing weight. The BBCOR certifications on all these bats also limit the performance or "pop" that the bats are capable of; because of this, factors such as sweet spot size and feel at contact are often the biggest difference between bat models. Another big difference between the three models is that the CF6 and the CF7 are both two-piece designs, so they will provide slightly more flex on contact. The flex can actually provide more of a whipping action that helps the head of the bat whip forward at the moment of contact, generating more inertia and power. The VELO is a one-piece bat, so it will provide a stiffer feel on contact.
Tessa
I am a line drive hitter and hit it in the gaps. What bat would be better for me: this bat or the Easton XL1? legendsbaseball13
If you are more of a line drive/gap hitter, the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) may be the better option for you. The BBRVB features a balanced swing weight, which is great for working on bat speed and control. The XL1 is a great bat, however, it features an end loaded swing weight, which is generally preferred by power hitters.
Tessa
I am a line drive hitter. I also hit it in the gaps. What bat would be better for me, this bat or the Easton XL1? legendsbaseball13
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) would be the better option for your style of hitting.
Brandon
I have recently swung the 2014 Rawlings 5150 with the black on it. It eventually started to get chips and scratches on it from the dirt. Will that happen to this bat since it has a black color? linedrivebaseball
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) will eventually scratch and have paint chip off. Unfortunately, this is something that occurs on every single bat regardless of color. This is something that occurs from standard use. It is more noticeable on black bats like the 2014 5150 and the 2015 VELO though.
Jason
How will the swing weight of this bat compare to the MAKO? Which bat has been favored the most by players? Baseball
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the Easton MAKO are two of the most balanced BBCOR bats on the market. One does not necessarily swing lighter than the other. The Easton MAKO and the Rawlings VELO are both equally popular bats, but the MAKO does have more reviews.
Jason
What's the difference between the 2015 VELO and the 2015 RIP-It Air Elite? Gap2Gap
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) will be a one-piece all alloy design. The RIP-IT AIR Elite will be a two-piece half and half design. It will provide a composite handle with an alloy barrel. Both will feel very light weight and balanced. Each will have similar pop and durability.
Brandon
Is it one-piece and does it use 5150 alloy? cards
Yes, the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) will be made from the 5150 Alloy material. It will also be fully one-piece in design. The swing weight will be very balanced.
Brandon
Which is a high performance bat, this or the Marucci CAT 6? Is this bat end-loaded? lik kk
Both the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBC614) are high performing alloy bats. They are both balanced designs and would not be considered end-loaded.
Patrick
What has more pop this or the Marucci CAT 6? lil kk
"Pop" is more of a term associated with the hitting ability of the player rather than a feature of the bat that can be measured. BBCOR certified bats like the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the 2015 Marucci CAT 6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBC614) are all restricted by the BBCOR standard that they cannot exceed. What you end up paying for and what makes the difference between the bats is the feel of the bat (balance, weight, flex, vibration, etc.) and the durability of the bat (how long it lasts at the peak performance level). The CAT 6 and the VELO compare very similarly in most categories with the VELO being a bit more balanced which gives it a lighter swing weight.
Patrick
Do have to break in this bat? Johnny
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is a one-piece alloy bat and does not require break-in.
Damon
What is the most balanced bat on the market and is best for a contact hitter who is looking to drive the ball? johnny
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is one of if not the most balanced BBCOR bat on the market. It is a terrific bat for a contact hitter.
Jason
Does the ball shoot off the VELO or MAKO harder? mako vs velo
Since both the 2015 Easton MAKO BBCOR and the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) are BBCOR certified, both bats will feature the same .50 Bat Performance Factor. The only way to get the ball to come off harder is to swing the bat faster. Both of these bats will offer a very light weight and balanced feel. The MAKO will also provide a longer, more extended barrel length.
Brandon
What are some of the best balanced bats on the market? Zach
There are many nice balanced options available in the BBCOR category of bats. The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is one of the more popular designs and it is extremely well balanced and very durable.
Patrick
How does the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) compare to the 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) for a 13U contact hitter? Chuck
Both the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the 2014 Marucci Black BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBB14) are going to have a balanced swing weight. The main difference is that the VELO has a one-piece alloy frame design; whereas, the Marucci Black has a seamless two-piece hybrid design with a composite handle and an alloy barrel.
Liz
How much different is the 2014 velo from the 2015 velo? reagan16
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB and 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBV3 are the same bats besides a slight cosmetic difference from 2014 to 2015.
Ryan
I am 5 foot 10 and weigh 155 pounds. What size bat should I get? raytw
Based on your height and weight, we would suggest a 32 inch size of the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB).
Patrick
What are some things that make the 2015 Velo better than the 2013 or 2014 model? jonnybaseball
The biggest difference between the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and earlier models will be the paint job.
Ben

We only carry the balanced version of the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB).
Frankie
I am 5 foot 6 and weigh 150 pounds. What size do you suggest for me? tony
Based on your height and weight, we would recommend a 32 inch size of the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB).
Patrick
Is this bat good for power and contact? jus
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) features a a 5150 alloy one-piece design which provides the stiffness power hitters like as well as maintaining a balanced swing weight that contact hitters demand.
Jake
Is the VELO or the Vexxum NVS a better bat? Tim
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the 2015 DeMarini Vexxum NVS BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVXC) will be very different bats in regard to their construction and ultimately their feel as well. The VELO will be a single piece, all alloy bat with an extremely balanced feel due to the added weight in the handle. The Vexxum will consist of a hybrid construction (composite handle and alloy barrel), yet still be balanced. The difference in barrel material will make the feel between the two bats different when making contact with the ball.
Ben
im 5"11 190 what size do you suggest peyton
We would suggest that you use a 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) in the 33" length.
Ben
What is the difference from the previous year bat ? johnny baseball
The difference between the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the 2014 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) is going to be largely cosmetic. The bats will feature the same 5150 alloy construction. Additionally, the 2015 version will have an updated grip.
Joe
I'm a contact hitter, looking for a balanced bat. Which of the following would be the best for me, the Velo, Cat 6 or the Mako? reagan baseball
Typically for contact hitters we recommend a two-piece balanced bat. Two-piece bats can increase a players bat speed, because they flex through the zone. The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) will be a one-piece alloy bat. The 2015 Marucci CAT 6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBC614) is also a one-piece alloy bat. The 2015 Easton MAKO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15MK) is a two-piece full composite bat. Although the BBRVB and the MCB614 are well-balanced bats, the BB15MK would be the most ideal for a contact hitter in terms of overall performance.
Joe
What kind of hitter is this bat for? claydoh
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) has an extremely balanced swing weight and is typically best for contact hitters.
Jason
Is the 2015 Velo suitable for a 4'8", 80 lbs contact hitter? eli
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) will be a one-piece very well-balanced alloy bat featuring the 5150 alloy construction. Typically, for a contact-style hitter, we would actually recommend a two-piece bat, which can help increase bat speed, however the balance of the Velo does make it an ideal option as well.
Joe
Would a 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) be better for a power hitter or would the DeMarini CF6 be better? Patrick.Charles
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is a one-piece alloy designed bat; whereas, the DeMarini CF6 BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXCFC) is going to be a two-piece composite designed bat. Both the VELO and the CF6 are going to have a balanced swing weight. Typically, power hitter prefer a one-piece end-loaded designed bat, so with that said I would recommend the VELO.
Liz
What is the difference between the 2015 model and the 2014 model? avery
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the 2014 VELO are the same bat. The only difference between the two models is the cosmetic appearance.
Jason
I am mostly a contact hitter. Would this be a good bat for me? Cole from E.C.
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is going to be a balanced bat that will be great for a contact hitter.
Frankie
What are the differences between the 2015 VooDoo and the 2015 Velo? Which one is better for power hitters? Zac5
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) will feature a one-piece full alloy design. Additionally, the VELO offers an extremely well-balanced swing weight. The 2015 DeMarini Voodoo OVERLORD FT BBCOR Baseball Bat (DXVDC) will feature a two-piece hybrid design with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. The Overlord will feature an end-loaded swing weight. I am a fan of the D-Fusion handle on the Overlord which does a fantastic job of largely eliminating shock and vibration traveling through the bat. Typically, we would recommend an end-loaded model for a power hitter, and a more balanced model such as the VELO for a contact or gap hitter.
Joe
What is the difference between the 2015 VELO and the 2014 VELO? John
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the 2014 VELO are the same bat. The only difference is the cosmetic appearance.
Jason
Does the end loaded VELO really make a difference for a power hitter, rather than the balanced 2015 VELO? Could the balanced 2015 VELO perform as well for power? Also, what is the difference between the white 2014 and the 2015 model? Hanz
The best way to get more power is by a faster swing speed. The balanced 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) will definitely help you get faster bat speeds. Sometimes end loaded bats can slow down player's swing. Make sure if an end loaded bat is your favorite choice that you can maintain fast bat speeds. Or else you may lose power. The difference between the 2014 and 2015 is basically the color scheme and cosmetics.
Brandon
How long do the 2015 Velo take to "break in" and how long does its pop last? avbama15
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is an alloy bat, and alloy bats do not require any break-in at all.
Chinyere
Is the VELO better than the TRIO? I had the 2014 trio and was wondering if this would be a better choice for me since I am a leadoff hitter. jbaseball
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) features a one-piece full alloy design. The VELO is probably the most evenly balanced alloy model available on the market today. However, the one piece design will be fairly stiff through the zone. The three piece design of the Rawlings TRIO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBTRIO) does offer additional flex through the zone, which typically results in faster bat speeds. If you like the feel of a one-piece model, we would recommend the VELO.
Joe
I am a power hitter and thinking about getting a new bat. What would you recommend: the CAT 6, the S3Z ZCORE, or the Rawlings VELO? Danny
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB), CAT 6, and S3Z are all solid bats that can be used for power hitters. However, the VELO and CAT 6 are extremely balanced and are typically prefered by contact hitters. The S3Z has a slightly end loaded swing weight and is a terrific bat for a power hitter.
Jason
Is the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) end loaded? Danny Machay
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) has an extremely balanced swing weight.
Tom
Is the VELO BBCOR approved for high school play? Danny
Yes, the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is BBCOR Certified so it is approved for high school and college play.
Tom
What is the difference between the VELO and the 5150? Banks
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) features a single piece alloy design with a balanced swing weight. Additionally it offers composite inserts at the end of the barrel to increase the performance of the bat. The 2015 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150) features a similar one piece alloy design with a balanced swing weight. The VELO will feature a lower M.O.I than the 5150, but the performance will be very similar.
Joe
Can the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB be used in 13-15 year old Babe Ruth League? DAn
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) would be legal for Babe Ruth League baseball.
Jake
I am a contact hitter, would you prefer this bat for me? marty
Yes, the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is designed for a contact hitter and is a balanced bat.
Frankie
Will this bat shock you? Brooks
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) features a one piece full alloy design with a balanced swing weight. As long as the bat is squared up and makes contact on the sweet spot, vibration and shock shouldn't be a problem. However, two piece models due tend to help eliminate some sting and vibration as well.
Joe
I am a contact hitter and am looking at the Easton S3Z, the Velo, the S1, and the Exogrid 3. What will be the most balanced, most pop, and lightest swing? ian
"Pop" is a term associated with the players skill rather than an actual measurable feature of the bat. At their peak, all BBCOR bats will perform around the same level. The differencee, and what you end up paying for is the feel and the durability of the bat (how long that peak performance level will last). Between the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB), 2015 Easton S3Z ZCORE Baseball Bat (BB15S3Z), 2015 Easton S1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15S1) and the Louisville Slugger EXOGRID 3 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB13EX), each bat would work for a contact hitter and will have decent balance. The S3Z or the VELO would probably be the two most balanced which would give them the lightest swing weight but it would be close between all of them.
Patrick
I am 5 foot 9 and weigh 170 pounds. I swing a 33 inch Easton S2 and I have swung the 32 and 33 inch in this bat and can't decide which one I want. Can you help me decide? evan
Unfortunately, which size would be better for you would ultimately come down to your preference. If you have felt both models of the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and can swing them both equally well, I would suggest going with the 33 inch design because that will have more mass to the bat which can produce a bit more power if they are swung at the same speed.
Patrick
What is the newest version of the Easton S3 BBCOR? speedy
The 2015 Easton S3Z ZCORE Baseball Bat (BB15S3Z) is going to be the newest model of the Easton S3.
Frankie
I want a balanced aluminum BBCOR just like the Velo, but the price is too high. Do you have any recommendations on other bats? Danny
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is a very well balanced bat. Some other balanced alloy models that would run a bit lower in price would be the Louisville Slugger Assault BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBAS14-RR), RIP-IT AIR BBCOR Baseball Bat (B1403A), or the previous year's model of the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3).
Patrick
I can't decide between the 2015 Velo or the 2015 regular Rawlings bat. Which one would you prefer? dawson
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) will have a slightly lighter swing weight due to a bit better balance than the 2015 Rawlings 5150 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB5150). Other than that, they will be very similar in style.
Patrick
I am a 9th grader that is 5'10" and I weigh 155 pounds. I play on varsity and I'm the catcher. I could get one out of the high school fields but barely. What bat would be the best for me? I want a bat that will have the fastest the swing while still have weight behind the swing. Harrison
Ultimately, it will come down to finding a bat that best suits your hitting style. The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) bat features a very balanced swing weight, so it will be a great option to work on bat speed and bat control. The one-piece design is also ideal for a player with faster bat speeds because it will provide a stiffer feel on contact. This causes less flex on contact, which means less momentum lost on contact and can create more overall power. Based on your height and weight, we recommend a 32" bat.
Tessa
What size bat should I get being a 5'10'', 110 lb. sophomore? tatebaseball
Based on your height and weight, our Bat Coach recommends a 30" 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB). Sizing is preferential though, so if you would feel more comfortable with a longer bat, that is definitely something to take into consideration. For more information on sizing, feel free to check out our Bat Coach: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/
Tessa
What bat size should I use for drop 3? I am 100 pounds and 5 foot 3 inches. thomasbaseball
We would recommend getting the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) in a 29 inch.
Frankie
Is the 2014 better then the 2015 Rawlings VELO? baseballstud87361
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBV3) is just as good as the 2015 VELO. The bats are both made out of the same material and feature the same design. The only difference is the cosmetic appearance.
Jason
Is the RIP-IT Helium better ? baseball
Both the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the RIP-IT Helium bats features very balanced swing weights. The main difference between the two is that that VELO features a stiffer one-piece design, whereas the Helium boasts a five-piece design. If you tend to prefer a stiffer bat, the VELO may be the better choice for you. If you like the additional flex a multi-piece bat allows, the Helium would have the edge there. Ultimately, it will be a matter of preference.
Tessa
I swing a CF6 as of now but I want to switch things up and go for a loud ping sound. How does this bat compare to the CF6 BBCOR? I hit for power and contact so should I get a balanced or end-loaded bat? Jakelly
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is a one piece fully alloy bat with a balanced swing weight. The DeMarini CF6 is a two piece composite bat that also features a balanced swing weight. The one piece structure of the VELO will give it a stiffer flex than the two piece structure of the CF6. Swing weight will all come down to personal preference.
Tom
How will it do in 40 degree weather? Joe
In weather below 55 degrees, the ball rather than the bat has the issue. The ball condenses and becomes harder than normal. Hitting any bat with one of these hardened balls can cause damage. Alloy bats like the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) tend to hold up a bit better than composite models but can still face problems with denting or breaking in cold temperatures.
Patrick
Is this bat USSSA approved? gabe123
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is BBCOR approved which will be allowed for play in USSSA.
John
What is the difference between this and the end loaded VELO? dinger
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) has a balanced swing weight and will be lighter swinging. The end loaded VELO has an end loaded swing weight. It will be heavier swinging because of the extra weight at the end of the barrel. Typically, the end loaded version is better for power hitters and the balanced version is better for contact hitters.
Jason
What is the difference between the Rawlings VELO and the Marucci CAT 6? dingerslapper
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the Marucci CAT 6 are actually very similar. They both feature a very balanced swing weight, as well as a one-piece alloy design. The main difference is that the Comp-Lite end cap, which helps it to be one of the most balanced bats on the market today. The CAT 6 features an anti-vibration knob, which can help to dampen the sting and vibration.
Tessa
I am 6 feet tall and weigh 183 pounds and will be a junior in high school next baseball season. I hit .431 this season with the 2013 Velo 32 inch 29 ounce. All of my hits were strong line drives and grounders. I have been 2 seasons with this bat, and will get a new one for next year. I know I will get stronger over the next 2 seasons, but since I was so successful with this type of bat, should I stay with it and get 2015 Velo, or consider something slightly end-loaded? JTbase1
I would say if you have had good success with this line in the past, I would stick with the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB). The phrase "If it isn't broken, don't fix it." would seem to apply here. Confidence at the plate is very important so if you are confident with a Velo, I would stick with that.
Patrick
My son has a 2014 31" DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR (DXVDC) and is moving up to a 32". How does this Ralwings VELO BBCOR compare to the DeMarini Voodoo BBCOR (DXVDC)? Al
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is going to be a one-piece all alloy balanced bat whereas the DeMarini Voodoo (DXVDC) is going to be two-piece hybrid end loaded bat. The VELO is very good for contact hitters while the Voodoo is geared more for power hitters.
Jake
I'm typically a power hitter but will the balance version still be a good choice for me? How similar is this to the 2013 model? Mjones2513
The one-piece design of the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) would lend itself nicely to power hitting. A power hitter will tend to prefer a one-piece bat because the one-piece design isn't as forgiving as a two-piece. Two-piece bats with a lot of flex can be a bad thing for a power hitter because it can cause loss of bat head control and a late whipping action. The 2015 VELO is actually very different from the 2013 VELO. This bat now features an extended barrel and upgraded VELO alloy, which is a higher strength, better performing alloy. This allows the longer extended barrel, while retaining a balanced swing weight.
Tessa
What is the difference between this bat and the balanced Rawlings TRIO? Which one is better? Sambo
The main difference in the two bats is the construction. The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is all aluminum and the 2015 Rawlings Trio Baseball Bat BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRTTB) has a composite handle and an aluminum barrel, with a composite end cap. Both bats will perform well, yet have a different feel.

Frankie
I am about 6'3" and weigh 180 lbs. What size should I get for this bat? I'm afraid if I move up to a 34" I will lose all my swing speed. cortazja
Based on your height and weight, the suggested size is a 34" model in the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB). However, that is just based on your height and weight. What you are comfortable with is the most important thing. If you are worried about your bat speed being slowed, then a 33" model will work better for you.
Jason
Will the ball go farther off a balanced bat or end-loaded bat? ltm13
Typically the ball will go further with a heavier end-loaded bat than with an extremely balanced bat like the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB).
Liz
Is this bat legal in select baseball, such as USSSA and Nations? jaime
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) features the .50 BBCOR Stamp on the barrel, so there is a great chance that it will be legal for play in Select Baseball. We recommend contacting a coach or a league official to be absolutely certain though.
Tessa
Is this bat for more of a contact hitter or power hitter? RyanM3
The balanced swing weight of the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is typically preferred by contact hitters, but can be used comfortably by both power and contact hitters.
Tessa
I am 14 years old 5 foot 10 and 160 pounds. Should I get the balanced Velo or the End-loaded version? tfaulk00
Whether you should get the balanced 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) or the end-loaded 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR End-Loaded Baseball Bat (BBRVE) would not be based on your size but more on your preference of feel. Most players will prefer a balanced design but if you are a power hitter, you may like the feel of the end-loaded bat.
Patrick
How does the 2015 VELO compare to the 2013 VELO? Adam
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) will have an extended barrel compared to the 2013 VELO. Both models will use the same 5150 and feature the same Comp-Lite end cap.
John

Jason
What is the difference between the VELO and the Easton S1 BB14S1? speedy
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is going to be a one-piece alloy bat. The Easton S1 is a two-piece fully composite bat. Both are going to be balanced and are preferred by contact hitters.
Jake

Patrick
I'm 15 and I'm 5'9" 170 pounds. Would you recommend a 33 inch VELO? coop

John
I am 5 foot 11 and about 148 pounds but prefer a light bat due to my slower bat speed. Could I still use a 31 inch bat? K
You may be able to get away with a 31 inch length of the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) but would get better plate coverage with a 32 inch size.
Patrick
What is the technical (designer) difference between the 2015 Rawlings Velo end-loaded vs balanced? Greatness_30
The difference between the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the end-loaded version would be the weight distribution. The end-loaded model has more of the weight in the barrel which causes it to feel heavier.
Patrick
I am 6'2" and 130 lbs. I'm in eighth grade and a power hitter. What size would be the best for me? crm17
Given your height and weight, I would recommend going with the 32" 29 oz. size of the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR (BBRVB).
Marcus

The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) has an alloy material handle while the 2015 Rawlings Trio BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRTTB) features a composite handle and hybrid design. The VELO also has a bit better balance to it.
Patrick
I am 13 years old, 5 foot 3 and weigh 95 pounds. I am having to swing drop 3 for middle school. What weight would be suggested? Jacksson
We would recommend a 30 inch size BBCOR bat for a player of your height and weight, unfortunately, we do not have the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) in that size.
Patrick
I am 6'3" and weigh 178 lbs. What size bat should I swing? Which bat would work better for a power hitter: the Rawlings VELO, DeMarini CF8, or the Louisville Slugger Prime 915? baseball101
For a player of your height and weight, I'd recommend going with a 33" 30 oz. BBCOR bat. Really, any of the bats you mentioned could work well for a power hitter, but I would lean more toward the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB for a power hitter due to its stiff, one-piece design.
Marcus
Does the 2015 VELO have an end loaded model? Mike P
The end loaded model of the VELO was the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVE. We unfortunately, no longer have that model.
Jason
I am 6'1" 190 lbs and a power hitter. Trying to decide between a VELO and a 5150. Which is more suiting for me? RH
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the Rawlings 5150 Alloy BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB513) would be great bats to use for a power hitter. We don't have the 5150 in the 2015 model (only used option(s) available). Very similar bats, so it really comes down to your price point and personal preference as both bats will perform very well!
Cameron
What are the differences between the 2015 and 2016 Rawlings VELO BBRVB? MN Made
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB and the 2016 2016 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRV3 are going to be very similar. The 2016 VELO features the pOp Technology 2.0 that creates additional barrel flex and a 25% larger sweet spot while the 2015 VELO does not. Other than that, these two bats are going to be extremely comparable and similar in all other aspects.
John
What size bat would you recommend for me? I'm 5'10" and 140 pounds in high school baseball. woody
For a player with your height and weight, I would recommend using a 32" 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB.
John
Would the end-loaded VELO help me keep my hands back and prevent my hands form leaving to early during my swing? bdog
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) would be a great bat to purchase. However, I don't see the bat helping to keep your hands back. This is more of a timing issue and I would suggest working on front side toss drills behind an l-screen and focusing on hitting everything to the center/opposite field side.
Cameron
What's the difference between this model and the 2016 model? zach
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the 2016 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRV3) are the same bat (minus the new art graphics and color) with the exception of the precision-optimized performance technology; the 2016 model will have additional barrel flex and a larger sweet spot than the 2015 model.
Cameron
Which bat would you recommend this bat or the louisville slugger 716 more for a line drive/power hitter? I'm about 6'3 180 jakec06
Based upon your height and weight, I would recommend using a 33" 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB or 2016 Louisville Slugger Select 716 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBS7163. Since you're saying that you're a line drive / power hitter I would learn more towards recommending the 2015 Rawlings VELO as it is a one-piece alloy construction in comparison to the 2016 Louisville Slugger 716 which is a two-piece hybrid design.
John
How durable is this bat? Would it be more durable than a composite or less? johnny baseball
The alloy used on the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) has above average durability. It would hold up well compared to a composite barrel model.
Patrick
How does the 2015 Velo compare with the 2015/2016 Trio. I am trying to decide to either get the 2015 Velo or the 2015 Trio, however I swung the 2016 Trio in the cages and saw that the 2015 and '16 Trio are the same. What bat would you recommend for a more line drive type hitter with good bat speed? wilkaise
Based on your current hitting description, we would recommend going with the Rawlings Trio. This bat will be slightly more balanced than the VELO and feature a larger sweet spot. The VELO is a great bat as well but with your type of swing the Trio should benefit you more.
Cameron
I'm 5'10" and 180 pounds. What size VELO would you recommend for me? Claudio
For a player of your size, I would recommend going with the 32" 29 oz. model of the 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB.
Marcus
I am asking about the Velo 2.0 bbcor bat.Is it true that at the end of the bat you get a half inch more of bat and a half once more of weight on bat.It is reflected on the bat knob as it will read 33.5 in stead of 33 and 30.5oz instead of 30 oz. Mark
The 2016 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRV3) does feature half sizes and ounces, unlike the 2015 VELO models that will only feature the standard length/weight sizes. This will give you a half inch more of reach and half ounce more weight in the barrel.
Cameron
My son is 13, 5'7" and 150 lbs. Very strong for his age. He is now using a Louisville Slugger Omaha 516. He hits very hard line drives, and an occasional Home Run. I guess he would be considered a power hitter. Which Rawlings bat would you suggest? Thanks for your help! lukesawyersdad
The 2015 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB or the 2016 version of the same bat would be excellent possible bats to consider for someone who is a line drive hitter with occasional home run power. The one-piece design give this bat a stiffer feel which is ideal for a power hitter and the balanced swing weight allows a player to maintain consistent bat speed.
Cameron
Is the Rawlings VELO BBCOR bat certified for USSSA baseball? johnny baseball
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB is certified for USSSA competition for the age groups of 15U and above and 14U.
Cameron
Would you recommend the VELO or the Voodoo OVERLORD FT? heavyhitter
If you are wanting the more balanced option of bat, I would recommend going with this Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB). If you like the more end-loaded option of bat, the Voodoo OVERLORD will be better for you. A lot of power hitters are attracted to the end-loaded options of bats, but you do not have to get an end-loaded option if you prefer balance (many power hitters like balance as well).
Ben
My son is 5'4" and around 150 lbs. What size do you recommend? Kenny
For a player of his size, I'd recommend going with the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB in the 31" 28 oz. size.
Marcus
What is the difference between the BBRV3 and the BBRVB? greg
The 2016 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRV3 has a more extended barrel design and longer sweet spot than the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB.
Marcus
Is it balanced or end loaded? caseylopez10
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is going to be a very well balanced design.
John
What is the difference between this VELO and the 2016 VELO? DMG
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the 2016 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRV3) are basically the same bat with the exception of the precision-optimized performance technology and the updated cosmetic look. The 2016 model will have additional barrel flex and a larger sweet spot than the BBRVB model. Cameron Expert
Jason
My son is 13, 5'3", and 110 pounds. What size bat does he need? blake
Based upon your son's height and weight, I would recommend using a 30" Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB.
John P.
I have a son who is 6'1" and 180 pounds. Which bat should he swing and why? Will
Based upon your son's height and weight, I would recommend using a 33" Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB. This Rawlings VELO would be an excellent choice because it is one of the highest reviewed one-piece alloy bats that we currently carry and it will feature an extremely balanced swing weight.
John P.
I am 5'10" and weigh 173 pounds. I am a contact hitter that can also hit for power and love a live bat. I was wondering what your opinion would be on a balanced vs end-loaded bat? What are your opinions on this bat vs. the 2016 VELO? Sammy
If you are primarily a contact style hitter I would definitely recommend staying with the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) or the 2016 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRV3). Both bats are balanced and designed with the contact hitter in mind, but can give you the performance you need if you need to crank up the power. The 2015 and 2016 will be very similar with the only real difference being the pOp 2.0 technology featured in the 2016.
Jake
What's the difference between this particular Velo and the other Velo bats pictured in the other bat packs - is this 2016 model? Matt
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB is the 2015 model. It is the same as the other black VELO models listed in our Bat Packs.
Marcus
How big is the handle on this bat? Turbo
The handle on this Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) will be around 1" thick with the factory grip applied to it (the handle will also taper to the knob which will make the handle thicker as it begins to taper).
Ben
My son is 5'4" and weighs 143 lbs. What bat should he swing and why? Powersad
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting this Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) in the 31" length. As long as you feel he can handle the 28 oz weight of the 31" option of this bat, I would recommend that size option. The reason I would recommend this VELO over other bats is because the composite end-cap gives the bat one of the most balanced feels on the market and I feel that any player looking for a balanced bat would love this VELO.
Ben
What is the difference between the VELO and the 5150? Is the VELO better? Dale Summers
The Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB and the 5150 are equally good bats performance wise. However, the VELO does have some advantages over the 5150. The VELO is made out of a different alloy and this allows the VELO to have a longer barrel for a bigger sweet spot and it is also a more balanced bat overall.
Jason
I want to get a VELO for my next bat, but I don't know if I need to get this one or the 2016 model. Any recommendations? Whats the difference? Garrett
This Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the new 2016 VELO (BBRV3) will be pretty similar bats overall. The biggest difference is that the new BBRV3 model features Acoustic-Performance technology in the alloy (which maximizes the strength of the bat and increases the "ping" noise). Besides that and the cosmetics, the bats will essentially be the same. If we have the size needed, I would recommend getting this Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) as the price is a little lower.
Ben
Does the 2016 VELO have more "pop" than this one? greg
The JustBats' customer reviews received on the performance of this Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) and the new 2016 VELO have been pretty similar. Because of that, I would say that the "pop" displayed by both options will be very similar as well.
Ben
I'm 5'6" and a contact hitter. Would you recommend this VELO or the 2016 VELO for me? Beastmode
Both the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB and the 2016 Rawlings VELO would be great options for someone who is a contact hitter. With that said, the 2016 Rawlings VELO will have a slightly lighter swing weight feel but don't think you could go wrong either way.
Cameron
I am 5'3" 120 pounds and 13 years old. I am a contact hitter also, what size bat should I use? What BBCOR bat do you mostly recommend? Tyler Barnes
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 31" model in the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB. The VELO is one of the most balanced BBCOR bats on the market and it is a great option for a contact hitter.
Jason
My son is 6'1" and 170 lbs. He just finished up on his 14U team. He is going to play fall ball with his high school team. Currently, he has been swinging an Easton XL1 (32"/27 oz). Any recommendations? scott
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of maybe looking to a longer 33" length bat (as long as your player can handle the subsequent 30 oz weight of the BBCOR style of bat in that length option). However, I think a decision to stay at the 32" length for a BBCOR bat would be fine as well. This Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB) is an excellent option with a one-piece, all-alloy build and balanced swing weight. However, the only size available is the 32"/29 oz size. If you wanted to look at a similar model available in the 33" length, I would recommend viewing the 2016 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRV3).
Ben
I re-taped the bat when I got it and I took off the thing under the tape next to the handle because I didn't like it, but now I want it back because my hands keep slipping. Is there a place where I can order that or get that piece back and put it on my bat? Pres
Unfortunately there would not be a place to re-order this piece that Rawlings used. Best option would be to call Rawlings at 800.729.5464 but cannot guarantee that they would have this part at their warranty facility.
Cameron
5'10 150lbs contact hitter 16 years old what size bat should i get? Conner
Based on your height and weight we would recommend a 32"/29oz Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRVB).
Carter
Which Bat should I get; this Rawlings VELO or Rawlings 5150 for a contact hitter? jayson
Both options have balanced swing weights and work well for a contact hitter. However, the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBRVB is more balanced than the 5150 and is typically considered the better option for a contact hitter.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
