The 2016 Easton Z-CORE HMX TORQ BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB16ZAT) and 2016 Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat (BBRV3) are both good one-piece alloy BBCOR bats. The swing weight and pop are going to be very similar for both bats. The Easton Z-CORE will feature the TORQ 360 degree rotating handle; this will be the main difference between the two. Comes down to personal preference and price point as both bats would perform well.

If the 32"/29 oz size is feeling light, then yes, you can switch your player to a 33"/30 oz size of bat. If you used a 31"/28 oz bat last year as 7th grader and swung it well, then yes, I would say that you should be able to use the 31"/28 oz size of this 2016 Easton Z-CORE HMX TORQ BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB16ZAT) as an 8th grader. As well, if you felt that the 31"/28 oz size was light, you might even look to upgrading to the 32"/29 oz size.
