Description

New for The latest and greatest members of the Power Brigade are here and ready to be unleashed.

The Easton MAKO BEAST is the newest version of one of the most popular baseball bats in the industry and it now has the biggest and most powerful composite barrel that Easton has ever made. By extending and combining the game's longest two-piece composite barrel with the game's fastest swing speed, this bat is an absolute BEAST that offers the lowest swing weight index out of the entire Easton lineup. A low swing weight index results in an evenly balanced model that delivers power through fast swing speeds. Easton's redesigned TCT Thermo Composite technology now provides an extended speed barrel design. So, the BEAST's barrel is longer than ever for more plate coverage and a huge sweet spot. This extended barrel is connected to an ultra-thin 29/32 inch composite handle by the patented two-piece ConneXion technology that maximizes energy transfer while eliminating sting for optimized feel and comfort. Adding to the comfort is the fact that each MAKO BEAST comes wrapped with the formidable HYPERSKIN grip and it is backed by a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty. Easton: Unleash The Beast!

This Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat: YB17MK12 features a -12 length to weight ratio, a 2 1/4 inch barrel diameter, and is approved for play in Little League, Babe Ruth, Dixie Youth, Pony, AABC, and USSSA. The Easton MAKO series was the number one bat at the '15 Little League Baseball World Series for a reason. Good Bat Kevin player

Pros: It feels lighter than a -12 for great bat speed. I take hacks everyday of the week and the bat has no dents or bad marks, it holds up very well. It also, jumps quickly off the bat.

Cons: The break in process was very long and it had a lot of sting during the process

BEAST!!! jimmyjam parent

Pros: once it was broke in, my 11 yr old went from barely, occasionally hitting them out of a 200 ft fence, to clearing the fence by 40-50ft. I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it.

Cons: bat is no illegal in 4 months. but gonna enjoy fall ball till then

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat: YB17MK12? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is there a break-in period? joe
Like with any composite barreled bat, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat: YB17MK12 will benefit from a short break-in period of roughly 150 swings from soft toss. Start off at 50% power and rotate the barrel 1/4" after every 10-15 swings.

I just bought this bat for my son in a 28 inch 16 ounce -12. I also have last years Mako in the same size 28 inch 16 ounce -12. I am holding them side by side and I don't see any way that this year's Mako Beast model has a longer barrel than last years model. If anything the barrel on last year's model stays wider a little bit longer before it starts to taper down to the handle. The distance from the end of each bat to the point where they start to taper appears to be about a quarter inch longer on last year's model. Can you please try to explain again where I should see this extra 1.5 inches of barrel compared to last year's model? Eric
From what we've determined, the 1.5" barrel extension is only on the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK model, and not on their other sizes, unfortunately.

My 10 year old son is about 4'2"-4'4", 55-60 lbs. He currently has a 2016 Easton S500 27/14 that he used all of last year. But this year it is giving him really bad stingers on missed hits during batting practice. I'm contemplating going to composite to help limit the vibration. The smallest composite bat is 28/16 so I am concerned about going up 2 ounces in weight and him ending up late on everything. Phil
Based on your sons height and weight we would recommend a 28"/16 ounce 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat (YB17MK12). Considering his height and weight I do not think he would have any trouble moving up the additional 2 ounces.

Is this bat approved for USA Baseball Leagues starting in 2018? awo
Unfortunately, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat: YB17MK12 is not legal for play in USA Baseball for 2018. Because it features the USSSA 1.15 BPF certification it will not be legal.
Jason
Can you tell me the exact length of the bat? Melissa
The only size we have in stock at this point in time (3/21/2017) is the 28" 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat (YB17MK12).
Carter
What is the difference between the 2017 Mako Beast and the 2016 Easton S2? matt
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat: YB17MK12 is a two-piece composite. The 2016 Easton S2 is a hybrid bat, so it has an alloy barrel and composite handle.
Tori
(1) What did Easton do to lose an ounce on the -12 Mako Beast versus the -11 Mako Beast? (2) Does that difference lessen the performance and/or durability of the -12 version? Indy
(1) Unfortunately, I am not certain of the exact technology change that allowed the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat (YB17MK12) to have a -12 length-to-weight ratio. (2) The -12 length-to-weight ratio on this YB17MK12 does not inherently lower the durability or performance on this bat.
Ben
Is there really a big difference in swing weight between the 28''/16 oz. and the 28''/17 oz. Or are both pretty much the same? Luis
There will be a one ounce difference when comparing the weight of a 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat (YB17MK12) and a YB17MK11 that have the same length. It is hard to say whether the feel to the player will be much different or the same as each player has a different experience with a bat. I wish I could say one way or the other, but the determination would be up to each specific player.
Ben
Are these approved for the fall season of Little League 2017? Sam
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat: YB17MK12 is approved for Little League through the end of the 2017 season.
Cameron
Can you buy a youth bat now that will be legal through the 2018 season? Mike
You cannot buy a youth bat now that will be legal next year, for the 2018 season. Those new bats with the correct USA stamp will not come out until September.
Carter
Can this bat be used next year? nicky0123
No, the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat (YB17MK12) will not be approved for play in Little League for 2018. Little League will begin to follow the USA Baseball Standard for 2018. They will require all bats to feature the USA Baseball Stamp. Unfortunately, there isn't any models currently on the market that feature the new USA Baseball Stamp. Those models will be released in early September.

My son plays travel ball, 9u, starting in August. What bat would be a better fit, the YB17MK11 or YB17MK12? curious
For a younger player in 9U the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat: YB17MK12 would potentially be a better fit than the YB17MK11 as it is an ounce lighter. If a player can swing a heavier bat then that is always best as it will give the player more weight to throw into the baseball.
Cameron
I just received this bat as a replacement for a bat that was defective, under the year warranty process. The lady said that this bat would meet the standards for Little League play in 2018. It does not have the USA stamp on it that I recall (may have to look at it again). Is this bat a legal bat? Chad
This 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat (YB17MK12) has USSSA 1.15 BPF certification. Because of that certification, it will not be legal for use in Little League Baseball for 2018. For 2018, the USABat certification will be required for Little League use. I might recommend reaching out to Easton (888-259-1297) with your Return Authorization number and seeing if they can rectify the situation on your replacement bat.
Ben
Is this an end loaded bat? kevin
The 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Youth Baseball Bat: YB17MK12 is a balanced bat, not end loaded.
