Description

New for The Rawlings VELO has earned a reputation for being one of the lightest and fastest swinging baseball bats on the market from year to year and this fastpitch softball version follows suit. Never in the history of softball have more pitchers touched 70+ mph so hitters have less time to react at the dish, and there's no time for error. If the game is evolving to become this fast, then shouldn't your bat be? It's called "fastpitch softball" for a reason. Thanks to the VELO's Silver Comp Lite composite end cap that is fiber reinforced, unnecessary weight is removed from the end of the barrel, shifting the MOI towards the player's hands resulting in an extremely balanced bat. The ultra light carbon fibers help dramatically improve one's swing speed for more control at the plate. If your increased swing speed or the awesome cosmetics don't turn heads at the ball field, the two-piece composite performance will. The handle and the barrel are tuned for perfect flex and incredible trampoline effect which gives you the utmost in terms of pop. Not only does this VELO offer exceptional pop, it provides top notch durability so that you don't have to worry about your bat breaking on you in the middle of the season. Rawlings: Your Legacy Starts Now!

This Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7V11 is a two-piece composite construction that features a -11 length to weight ratio, a 2 1/4 inch barrel diameter, and a sleek mint green barrel. Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7V11? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Why isn't this bat available in 32"? JK
The 2017 Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7V11 was manufactured in a 32 inch model. At this time we are still waiting to receive this size from Rawlings.
Cameron
Is there a break-in period with this bat? AC
Since the 2017 Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7V11 is a composite bat, it will require a break-in period of roughly 100-200 swings.
Marcus
Are both the barrel and handle composite material? Is the barrel single or double wall? Does the VELO have a -11 model? Is this similar to the DeMarini CF9? bg
The 2017 Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7V11 features a two-piece fully composite design and has a composite handle and composite barrel. It would be considered a multi wall barrel bat because of its design, and it is not a single wall bat. This model features a -11 length to weight ratio. It would be a comparable option to the -11 DeMarini CF9.
Jason
How many hits to break in? softballdad
Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to give an exact number of hits, however, I would recommend allowing for a few days of use before expecting to see the highest performance off of this 2017 Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP7V11).
Ben
I have a slap hitter and a great bunter who is the smallest on the 12 u travel ball team and she can stand in there and hit with them. Would this bat be a good bat to get for her ? coach Shane
The 2017 Rawlings VELO (FP7V11) is an excellent choice for a balanced bat that would suit any slap/contact hitter well.
Kyle J.
How does this bat compare to the Rawlings QUATRO bat that is a lot more money? danny b
The 2017 Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7V11 will feature a different connection point technology compared to the 2017 Rawlings Quatro Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7Q10. This design, as well as the vibration dampening technology and additional flex capabilities, will make the Quatro run higher in price.
Cameron
Would you recommend this bat for an 8 year old, 4'5" and 100 pounds? apdb4
The 2017 Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7V11 may be a bit heavy for an 8 year old, but if you think your player could handle the weight, I would suggest a 31" length.
Logan
I do not see a BPF marking of 1.20 on this bat. Is there one? It is required for Little League. Jeffrey Hewes
Yes, the 2017 Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7V11 features the USSSA 1.20 BPF certification stamp. It is located on the barrel slightly above the connection of the two-pieces with all of the other certification stamps.
Jason
Is this bat hollow? And is it only for bunting//slapping? Laur
The 2017 Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7V11 is going to be hollow, all metal bats will be hollow. This bat can be used for all styles of hitting.
Max
How is this bat for vibration control? Aaron
This 2017 Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP7V11) has a two-piece build to it. Because of that build, it will naturally have some vibration reduction on it. However, when compared to the Quatro model from Rawlings, this VELO will not have the same level of vibration control since it doesn't feature the Quatro Collar that absorbs and dissipates vibration.
Ben
Is this bat good for a 16 year old? JD
Yes, the 2017 Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7V11 could be used by a 16 year old. It will be a little lighter than some other bats which would be a good choice if she does not have the strength for a heavier bat.
Tori
What bat do you recommend for a 16 year old who has the strength for a heavier bat ? jd
The 2017 Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP7V11) is definitely a high end option for a strong 16 year old. I would recommend it.
Carter
My 9 year old daughter (52" tall, 58 lbs) is starting to train on a 10U travel team and needs a bat upgrade. Would you recommend this bat and if so, what size? PT
Based upon your player's height and weight, I might recommend going with a bat in the 27" or 28" length. The smallest size in which we are stocking this 2017 Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP7V11) will be the 29"/18 oz size. Because of that, I might recommend avoiding this bat. If you wanted a suggestion for a lighter and smaller bat, I would recommend looking to the 2018 Easton Stealth Hyperlite -12 Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP18SHL12).
Ben
I have a jugs pitching machine that is set up to pitch 12 inch dimple balls. Will it hurt to hit those with the Velo bat without damaging it? Speeds of 40-55 mph. bassmaster
The rubber dimple balls are more dense than a regular softball, so they are more damaging to bats. I would not recommend using the 2017 Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7V11 to hit those type of balls.
Logan
Has this bat bat been banned by ASA or USSSA? webb1
The 2017 Rawlings VELO Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP7V11 has not been banned in any softball organization, and is legal for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
