Because of it's one-piece design, the 2015 COMBAT Portent G3 Senior League Baseball Bat (PG3SL108) will have a slightly larger sweet spot than on the two-piece 2014 COMBAT Wanted Senior League Baseball Bat (WANSL108).

The 2015 COMBAT Portent G3 Senior League Baseball Bat (PG3SL108) and the 2014 DeMarini CF6 Senior League Baseball Bat (DXCFR) will both be rated with a performance limit of 1.15 bpf so at their peak they will both be capable of achieving the same performance or "pop."

The balanced swing weight is great for contact hitters and the one-piece design is great for increasing a players power. Based on his height and weight, we suggest 31" model.

The 2015 COMBAT Portent G3 Senior League Baseball Bat w/ Lizard Skin Grip (PG3SL108) are both one-piece designs with balanced swing weights. However, the Portent G3 is made out of composite and the S3 is made out of alloy. The PG3SL108 has a -8 length to weight ratio and the S3 has a -10 length to weight ratio, so the S3 will swing a little lighter.

Two and three-piece designs are better for contact hitters typically. They allow for faster bat speeds and less hand vibrations felt on mishits.

Does this bat require a break-in period and is it not recommended for cold weather? DV
The COMBAT Portent G3 Senior League Baseball Bat w/ Lizard Skin Grip: PG3SL108 is a one-piece fully composite design that will require a break-in period before truly being game ready. This break-in period is about 150-200 swings off a tee or soft toss, rotating the barrel a 1/4" after every swing. Typically, composite bats will not do as well in colder weather as alloy bats will (durability that is). Recommend not using this bat continually in colder weather (under 70 degrees F) but if you have to keeping the barrel warm will help. All metal bats will have less than ideal performance in colder weather due to the ball being more condensed; this is what leads to durability issues.

The only difference between the COMBAT Portent G3 Senior League Baseball Bat w/ Lizard Skin Grip: PG3SL108 and the 2016 COMBAT Portent G4 Senior League Baseball Bat w/ Lizard Skin Grip: PG4SL108 is the cosmetics and the fact that the G4 will offer a little bit more balanced swing weight.
