I had 31" 23 oz. DeMarini CF5 -8 last year and was 12. I'm looking for a 30" 25 oz. -5, with similar swing performance. Would the Demarini or any brand fill my needs.
The 2012 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League bat will be the -8. The 2013 DeMarini Voodoo: DXVD5 Senior League should be a bat you should check out. It is a -5 with some end load. Power hitter's love this bat. It will be a two-piece design like the CF5 but with some added barrel weight.
I had a 31" 23 oz. CF5 last year at age 12. I'm looking for -5 with similar swing weight/balance. There are so many bats, which one best describes my needs? I don't see CF5 -5. Was my -8 CF5 considered stiff? It seemed balanced to me.
The 2012 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League -8 bat was a two-piece design. It should not have felt stiff. It was very balanced. The 2013 Rawlings VELO: SLVEL5 Senior League bat will be a -5 that is very balanced and easy to swing.

My son is 11 years old and is 5', 82 lbs. He currently uses a 30" wood bat. Will this bat feel lighter and be much easier to swing? How does it compare to the Easton S3 30" 20 oz. bat?
The 2012 DeMarini CF5 will be much lighter swinging and more balanced than a wood bat. The CF5 is a two-piece bat that is fully composite. The Easton S3 is a one-piece bat that is fully alloy. The CF5 will have some flex and the S3 will be stiffer swinging. Performance wise, they are going to be very similar. Both bats have a ton of pop.
My son league age 10 with a July birthday. Last year he used a CF4 30" -11. We are thinking about the 2012 CF5 30" -8. He is 5' and weighs approx. 95lbs. Do you feel that that bat would be too heavy?
If he had good swing speed and bat control with his 30" -11 CF4, then he should be just fine with a 30" -8 CF5.
My son is 10 and plays in ECTB travel tournaments. Can these bats be used in those tournaments? Is it a big barrel bat.
According to the limited ECTB rules I found online, the 2012 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR would be legal for play as they do not say anything about this type of bat being illegal.
Is this bat actually heavier than the stated 22OZ.? The 2 1/4 CF5 is 2.5 oz heavier than the stated 20 oz.
All bats are weighed prior to the final stages of production which include the addition of the endcap, grip, final coat of paint, decals, and sometimes the knob. Because of this, most bats will be a little heavier than the advertised weight.
My son is 11. He is 5' & 90 lbs. He has a 2 1/4" CF5 and it's 2.5 oz. heavier than stated and end loaded. Is the 2 5/8" barrel diameter heavier than stated? Is it more balanced or end loaded? What size do you recommend?
Using the Bat Coach feature on www.JustBats.com I was able to determine that your son should be swinging a bat length of 30". The 2012 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League bat is currently available in a 30" 22 oz. size with the 2 5/8" barrel diameter. This bat is a two-piece fully composite design. It will have a very balanced swing weight and not feel end loaded at all.
Is it possible to get this bat in a 33" 25 OZ or 32" 24 oz (-8)?
The 2012 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR is a discontinued model. We will not be getting any more sizes in stock.
My son is 54 inches and 70lbs. Iam not sure what size he needs. He uses a 30 inch regular bat now. For a big barrel should I come down to 29 inch for better weight distribution?
Based on his height and weight, a 30" bat is recommended with a weight between 18 and 22 oz.

I bought a 30" 22oz. DeMarini CF5 for my son. He is 11 years old and 5' 1" tall. Is this right weight for him?
For an 11 year old boy standing a 5'1". This 30" model 2012 DeMarini CF5: DXCFR Senior League bat would be a perfect length. As far as weight this -8 should be fine for him if he is experienced in the game at all. If this is his first year of playing baseball I might recommend a -10 or -12 drop.
Can I use a composite baseball bat for all hitting like batting cage or BP?
You can use a composite barreled bat in batting practice, but we advise against using your bat to hit yellow cage balls because they are more dense than a regular baseball.
What does that mean that I must break in my bat?
Composite bats like the 2012 DeMarini CF5 require a break-in period. We recommend taking 100-200 swings off of a soft toss or tee. Rotate the barrel about a 1/4 inch each swing. We also recommend not to use a composite bat in batting cages that use yellow dimpled balls.
What is the difference between the 2012 CF5 and the 2013 CF5?
The 2013 DeMarini CF5 uses upgraded composite compared to the 2012 model. It will be higher performing and more durable.
Which bat has more pop? The 2012 CF5, 2013 CF5 or the 2012 or 2013 Voodoo?

No. The DeMarini CF5 DXCFR is the Senior League model. BBCOR bats have to be a drop 3.
I am 5'7" and 211 lbs. What length to weight ratio should I have?
You should be using a 33" bat, however the 2012 DeMarini CF5 only goes up to 32". If you like DeMarini's you may consider the 2013 Voodoo or Vexxum.
Is this DeMarini big barrel better than the small barrel DeMarini?
The exact same materials are used in both the big barrel DeMarini CF5 and the small barrel CF5.
I know it says Senior but I looked up that you have to use a drop 3 in Seniors. Is that true or can I use this bat in Seniors?
The 2012 DeMarini CF5 cannot be used in Senior League Division of Little League. All bats in this division must be BBCOR certified.
Is the bat legal for 2013 and 2014?
This really depends on the league you play in. USSSA and Little League have different rules regarding composite bats. Please refer to your league website for requirements.
Is this bat or the 2013 C5 bat legal for Babe Ruth ages 13-15?
The 2012 DeMarini CF5 is not legal for Babe Ruth ages 13-15. Composite bats must be BBCOR certified.
Im 10 years old and 85 pounds what length and weight should I get?

Yes, the 2012 DeMarini CF5 would be a great choice. The CF5 has great pop and excellent durability.
Im 5'3 and 93 pounds but i have lots of bat speed. would this be good for me?
The DeMarini CF5 would be a great bat for you. It has awesome pop and a 31" model would be recommended.
Which is a better bat the 2012 De Marini Voodoo or the 2012 DeMarini CF5?
Both are good bats. The DeMarini Voodoo is a two piece with an alloy barrel and the DeMarini CF5 is a two piece composite. The CF5 will be more balanced than the Voodoo.
Is this DeMarini CF5 composite or BBCOR?
The DeMarini CF5 is a two-piece fully composite bat. Only the DeMarini CF5's with a length to weight ratio of -3 will be BBCOR certified.
Is this bat balanced or swing lighter than it is supposed to?
The CF5 features Half and Half Technology that redistributes weight to give the bat optimal balance. This also gives younger players the ability to swing faster with less effort.
Is this bat legal for use in Pony League? I'm looking for a good big barrel composite bat. What bat would you recommend for a price around $200?
The 2012 DeMarini CF5 is approved for Pony League. It is one of the best two-piece composite bats on the market.
I've seen lots of other kids with composite bats, and I live in the Northwest where it is very cold and rainy, so I don't know if it would be ok for play
The basic rule of thumb is that the composite bats shouldn't be used in anything under 55 degrees. That is the point when you run a higher risk of cracking the bat due to the hardened core of the baseball.
I'm 13 and live in Arkansas I just moved up to Babe Ruth and I need to know if it is legal to use this bat. P.S. Also considering a 2012 Rawlings 5150 Both 32in. 22oz. Which do you think I should use?
Based on the information I have, this particular bat would not be legal for use in the Babe Ruth league. It is a full composite bat, which means it would need to be BBCOR certified in order to be used in Babe Ruth. A BBCOR certified bat will be an adult -3 bat and not a 'senior league' bat. However, since the Rawlings 5150 is an all alloy bat, it will be legal for use. I would recommend checking with your league official though, since each individual league can have their own rules.
is this bat approved for little league junior divison 2012
The DXCFR is not constructed for little league. For little league approved bats see the 2 1/4 inch barrel bats at Justbats.com.
What happens when it gets cold out? Does the bat lose performance?
Bats do not lose performance, but baseballs tend to get really hard in cold weather and that can damage the bat.
is this bat hot out of the wrapper and is the -8 32 in 24oz BBCOR bat
This will not be a BBCOR bat. BBCOR bats are -3 only. This bat will need a break in since it has a composite barrel.
I am looking for a good solid bat for my 12 year old son playing in a U13 select league. I was wondering what the USSSA 1.15 Stamp; Legal for Use in 2012 really means. I was told that this rating was to not make a alloy bat with no more advantage than the sweet spot of a wooden bat (because of reaction time). If this is the case, then what is the advantage of the higher end bats? Thanks
The 1.15 BPF stamp is a rating which means Bounce/Ball Performance Factor. An alloy or composite barrel bat will have more pop than a wood bat. A wood bat "wraps" around the ball creating less pop, alloy and composite barrel bats do not do this. Higher end bats will have better materials and will be more durable throughout the season.
Does this bat have the new USSSA 1.15 STAMP that it needs for 2012
Yes, this bat will feature the USSSA BPF 1.15 stamp on the bat.
Is this bat approved for thirteen year olds
If your son plays in USSSA, then yes.
My son is 12. He is 140 pounds and he is 5"6. Is a 32" 24 oz the right size for him
That sound like a perfect size for him.
Is this bat balanced or more end weighted ?
This is going to swing more balanced than end weighted.
Is this bat legal for 13 year olds in Little League? CF5. -8. Bat has print of usssa 1.15 NPR
No. Any composite bats must be BBCOR certified if you are in the Junior League Division. If you play in the Major Baseball Division the barrel size must be 2 1/4 inches.
Is the 32" 24oz. cf5 legal for use in the 13-15 year old babe ruth league
Yes it is legal in Babe Ruth leagues
The new Pony rules require bats to be stamped Pony approved, 1.15 and year made.I cannot find a bat anywere that has this on the bat.
This bat is a big barrel, is that allowed in your league? Pony League bats we have, are all small barrel bats. This one has all the markings you require, 2012 COMbat B3 Gear Retro: GEARYB2 -12 Youth
What leagues are requiring the 1.15 stamp.
Almost all of them. If you are in doubt check with your league to be sure.
2-Questions 1- Bat is ok for USSSA 12Y 2- Can i get 30' 24 OZ
Yes this bat is approved and does have the USSSA stamp. That size is not available in a -6.
I need a bat that has "approved for play in PONY baseball" stamped on it along with the "NPF 1.15" stamp. Is this bat Pony League approved?
This bat has the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp on it.
Beginning Jan 1, 2012...will this bat have a stamp indicating that it is "Approved for play in Pony Baseball" and also a stamp indicating the year manufactured?
We haven't been notified if the big barrel version will have a Pony League baseball stamp. However, the 2 1/4 inch model is approved for Pony League.
My son is 12 yrs old, 5'10" and weighs about 140 lbs. I am considering the CF5 with a drop 8 or the Voodoo with a drop 5. He currently swings a 32" drop 10. Is the added 5oz too large of a jump for him? The CF5 -8 does not come in a 33" and I wanted him to move from a 32" to a 33". Thanks!
This will depend on the player. Jumping 5 ounces will make his swing slow down a bit and may be tough for him to get around the ball. I would suggest looking at a -8 bat and let him get use to that weight and move to a -5 in a year or two.
My 12 Year old has swung a 30" Vexxum for 2 years now. From all the comments he should move up. Looking at the CF5 31" drop 8..live in Chicago, can be cold in the Spring..how will a 100% composite bat perform/hold up in cold weather?
Personally, I would have an aluminum or wood backup for cold weather.
trying to decide between the -8 and the -10 31inch. 13 year old boy above average strength
If he is above avg strength, go for the -8. If he plans to play in high school they have to swing a mandatory -3. The -8 would be good to start getting him ready for that heavier weight.
what is bpf 1.15 is this mean that it will have less pop than last years bats
The BPF stands for Ball Performance Factor, it is a new testing that all bats pass this test to be approved for USSSA baseball.
Which bat would you buy for your 10yr old son to give him the most pop? This bat or the new Easton S series?
Both bats are going to be top of the line composites with a ton of pop! It really is going to come down on personal preference.
What is the typical "break in" for the CF5 -8
You should take about 100-200 swings off soft toss or a tee, rotating the barrel about a 1/4inch every swing to break the bat in. Make sure to not use the bat in a batting cage that uses yellow dimpled balls as they can damage the composite materials.
I am 5"3 115 pounds and strong i was thinking of getting the cf5 or cf4 but they might flex to much so now i am leaning towards a b3 31/23 what is your preference on that
I personally like the feel of the CF5, it does have some flex to it but it is going to have a lot of pop as well
My son is 12, weighs 130 lbs. and is 5' 2". Is a 32" 23 ounce bat the idea size for him?
This would be a good size for his height and weight. If he is a strong hitter I would recommend a 32" 23 oz.
From buying them for my older son,I know the CF5 -3 BBCOR has less pop than the CF3 and CF4. But what about the senior -8 1.15 BPF model compared to equivalent CF3 and CF4. As the CF3 is legal for him I may try to get a used CF3 rather than a CF5. Please comment.
There is a difference with the BBCOR bats, because of the requirements, they don't have quite the same pop the BESR models do. Same with the 1.15 BPF, due to the standards the bats are required to meet. That being said, the CF5 is is getting some pretty good feedback.
My boy is a 13yr old major player and last year he used a Speed -8 30". He likes the composite "pop" and I like CF5 32" -8 for him this year, so do you think the 2" and 2oz. increase is to big of a jump?
That's a difficult question to answer without being able to see your son swing. If he displayed good bat speed and control with his Speed last year, then he shoud be okay moving up a couple ounces and an few inches. It is always recommended to move an ounce or two in weight as players get closer to the High School level. I think the 32" CF5 would work just fine for him.
My son is 13 in oct. Small kid 85 lbs 4ft 10in we test hit 4 bat sizes yesterday and believe it or not he hit the best with a 31in 28 oz easton which you would think be very heavy for him.at 68 mph over 250 hits. He hit more solid then the lighter bats that he tried. Do u think a 32in 24 oz would work for him if he chokes up and he could use it for 2 years?
Most kids don't like to choke up on the bat. If he is comfortable with the 32 inch than he would be fine. I receommend a 31 inch bat. You could probably do a -8 if he is that strong.
this is legal in 2012 right
This has the new USSSA stamp making it legal for 2012.
is this a BBCOR bat?
No. Senior League bats are not required to meet BBCOR standards. BBCOR only applies to adult baseball bats.
Wait wait wait... it shows right on the bat that it has the 1.15 USSSA stamp.. why'd you say it didn't?
At that time this bat did not have the stamp. This bat DOES have the USSSA stamp.
I was wondering im thinking about whats better for a 13 yearold baseball player whos good but needs a better bat for smooth swiningin and power the cf5 or 4 or voodoo
Both are excellent bats. Both are 2 piece, the Cf5 is a 2 piece all composite, where the Voodoo has an alloy barrel and composite handle. it comes down to preference.
Is this bat approved for Babe Ruth?
It is not approved for Babe Ruth, because it has a 2 5/8" barrel. Babe Ruth is Little League and requires a 2 1/4" barrel size.
Does this bat have the stamp now?
Yes, this bat has the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp on the barrel of the bat.
In your opinion, what is the better bat, Demarini 2012 CF5, or Louisville Slugger 2012 Vertex? Looking at 29" bat for my son who has been using a Miken Freak 28/19 for the past 18 months...need bpf 1.15 stamp...
In terms of performance, both will be pretty similar. A lot of it comes down to personal preference. The Vertex will be stiffer than the CF5. Stiffer bats like the Vertex are often preferred by power hitters. Bats with more flex like the CF5 are often preferred by contact hitters. The Vertex also has a 2 3/4" barrel which is slightly larger than the 2 5/8" barrel on the CF5. There is also a difference in the length and weight between the two. A 29 inch CF5 will weigh 21 ounces. A 29 inch Vertex will weigh 19.5 ounces. As you can see, there are a lot of variables and one really isn't better than the other.
Does this bat now officially have the bpf 1.15 stamp?
Yes. This bat is good to go and it has the USSSA BPF 1.15 stamp.
is the composite material in the handle or the barrel?
Both. The CF5 has a composite handle and barrel.
What is a better boys senior league baseball bat the demarini cf5 or the 2012 demarini voodoo?
That depends on who you ask. Both are great bats and are consistently among our top sellers. The CF4 and now CF5 have always been deemed as DeMarini's highest-end bat with the Voodoo a close second. The main differences between the two are that the Voodooo has an alloy barrel and composite handle and the CF5 is a full composite bat. Composite barrel bats have the tendency to slightly outperform alloy barrel bats. The Voodoo is also a drop 9, the CF5 is a drop 8, so there will be a difference in the length to weight ratio. In my honest opinion, you can't pick one of these bats as the "best" for a 12 year old.
what bat is the better baseball bat for a twelve year old boy? The knew 2012 demarini voodoo or the demarini cf5 senior league baseball bat?

What other bats are allowed for the 2012 youth baseball season besides the CF5?
That all depends on what organization you play in. Little League, USSSA, Pony, Dixie, etc. There are many different organizations out there with a variety of different rules and regulations. I don't want to give you any false information, but feel free to email us at support@beapro.com if you have any additonal details.
Does this bat have the new USSSA 1.15 STAMP that it needs for 2012
As of 7/20/2011 these bats do not have the USSSA 1.15 stamp on them.
